Just a general tip: when you're playing around with little setscrews, put some kind of cover over the drain hole. Those little parts love to find drains.
Thanks for watching & sharing your advice. That’s a great helpful tip. Any & all helpful info is much appreciated.
Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together! Hope all is well.

Have his this video bookmarked for a WHILE! Finally got around to the fix today - easy peasy! Thanks so much for this helpful video.
I also covered the drain with a cloth for safety, but my setscrew was pretty firmly attached to my allen wrench.
Thanks for watching, that’s awesome. I bet it feels good to have that done. We appreciate you sharing your tip on putting cloth over drain, great idea.
Enjoy that rewarding feeling. 👍🧰
I decided to try to fix my faucet leak in bathroom after watched this video. My faunet is a Pfister part and turned out easier to replace the stem what shown in this video. But took me great effort to find the Pfister part (doesn‘t know who made the stem that I just check very part (in hundreds) in web site carrying those faucet part. Thanks for the video. 😊
Hey Ted, thanks for sharing this. Did you end up finding the replacement stem and get DIY project completed or are you still searching for replacement stem?
This little ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Thanks for watching, and good morning. Let us know if you have any questions.
Appreciate video followed steps . Only issue I'm having is the handle loosens now and I can't shut water off . I've been having to screw it back on and align it to get cold water off.
Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community.
We appreciate you sharing your experience, any update? It’s likely that the internal stem/cartridge is not properly seated… It can be as simple as tightening the handle. You will want to ensure that the handle itself is properly seated onto the stem because if it’s not, it will lead to your exact issue. Please keep us posted.

@DIYwithMichaelBorders Still occasionally loosens I tightened down the stem/cartridge as tight as possible. Handle screw I believe may be stripped that's my only guess. Thanks for reaching back !

We appreciate the follow up. The handle being stripped is a likely possibility.
I would probably just replace both at the same time, seeing as if one of them wore down enough, the other is probably not far behind.
Thank you. Nice video. I like how you got to the point and didn’t try to make a lot of jokes. I just changed out of stem on mine but it still leaks so being that my ex is a plumber I’m waiting to see what he has to say about that. 🙂
Thanks for watching & we appreciate you reaching out to us. We are looking forward to hearing back from you on what your ex finds.
😎👍
Thank you. I’m going to try it again and take pictures as I do it so if it still leaks he can see what I did. I’ll let you know what I think I did wrong!

Excellent instruction. Could the two rubber gaskets/seals have been replaced instead of the entire stem/cartridge assembly? Cheers.
Hey nice channel! I especially love the name!!! 😂
Thanks for watching, we appreciate that. Right back at you, love your channel name. 😎👍
Hi Michael. That was very clear. Just a couple of questions. Do the cylinders have a right and left (for cold and hot) or will the same cartridge work for either side. Also, is it just a good idea to buy replacements for both if one has worn out? Thanks so much and thanks for posting.
Be careful, there are "hot" and "cold" stems. In addition, there are small parts inside the stem. If they become loose or fall out, you will have permanent running water!
Make sure to turn off the water under the sink before removing the stem. Otherwise you’ll have water coming out of the hole where the stem was with the full force of all the water pressure of your plumbing system. This is a disaster if it’s the cold; it’s an emergency if it’s the hot. I’m speaking from experience here folks! ;)
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. We appreciate you sharing this & you are spot on. Hope all is well.
Let us know if you have any questions, enjoy your day.

Can this kind of stem be refurbished as opposed to replaced?
Thanks for watching and it’s very possible. An upgraded rubber o’ring may be all it needs. 👍
Where did you get that specific valve stem? Looks just like the one I need and none of the hardware stores near me have any like this. Thanks!
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. We purchased ours from our local Hardware store that stocks much more than LOWES & Home Depot. Hope the video helped.
Enjoy your night! 😎👍🔧🔩
You can also try a plumbing supply. If it's an old and/or no longer made part, the plumbing supply may have it or can point you to specialty houses that carry hard to find stems.
