    Fully agree.
    Got the Ducati version of this helmet and I love it.
    Came from a Neotec so had to get used to a D-ring since the Shoei has a ratchet.
    Also had to get a bit used to the peak in more windy conditions.
    It fits like a glove and is really really comfortable. Like you said: can wear it all day.
    It's silent and the ventilation options are top notch! Love it!

    Did a review of this (tourcross 3 here in Japan) awesome helmet, but the pinlock in infuriating, too small and scratches the helmet when opening the visor. But it cost less than $400 U.S.D. here in japan so I guess I can't complain too much😅

    I just (Sept 2023) purchased an X4D and there isn't helmet speaker recesses in mine. There is an area behind the check pads but it isn't a speaker cut out.

    I’m Vegemite on the XD4, they’re mid priced now in Australia Vs Klim and BMW adventure helmets and I’ve had 3 XD4’s in 6 years / 50k of Australian conditions they don’t last IMHO.
    I’m now an expert at replacing the vents. I guess they’re sacrificial parts so in the event your head slides down the road BUT the Australian importer is a pain in the arse to deal with when you try get helmet parts.
    Ps do yourself a favour and sell the Sena while it’s still working and get the Cardo. My fist sena stopped working after I got caught in heavy rain and the second was killed by the FNQ humidity.

    • @standupmoto
      @standupmoto  Рік тому +2

      Gday Alex, yes I love my XD4, only complaint I’d have with it is it tries to remove my ears when I put it on unless I’m wearing a balaclava. Now I know that’s probably something about my ears however it has to be the most comfortable helmet I’ve had. How do you find the ventilation being FNQ? So far (touch wood) the Sena has performed faultless, I’ve had it in the rain several dozen times and it’s been fine , in saying that I always hit it with the hair dryer (the wife’s of course not mine) when I get home. No humidity where I am in SA fortunately by the sound of it. I’ve not had any experience or even spoken to the importer but that sounds disappointing if I’m reading you right there. Mmmm maybe a video there, cheers mate & thanks for the feedback.

      @@standupmoto Thanks Steve. I watched your review on the neotec 2 and got one. Unfortunately, I was not able to put it on while wearing my glasses, which was one of my main reason for getting a modular. Also the sides were extremely tight! I'm in the process of returning it. I was pleasantly surprised to see you had a review of the XD4 too, which was another helmet I had been eyeing. I read that you either have a Shoei or an Arai head. Do both fit you well, and do you have a preference of one over the other? Cheers!

    • @standupmoto
      @standupmoto  2 роки тому +1

      @@yeahyeahme Daryl I love both helmets , preference mmmm not really. I wear the Arai when I’m doing any off rd riding & the Shoei for on rd. With your Shoei did yo get the different size cheek pads with it? Also don’t be afraid to stretch the sides out when you pull it on. With the Arai I put my glasses on after the helmet but with the Neotec I just flex the sides out, it gives a bit of a creak but hasn’t affected it after hundreds of wears. It’s a very good helmet & the intercom is so clear. Give it a try and let me know, cheers.

    • @yeahyeahme
      @yeahyeahme 2 роки тому +1

      @@standupmoto thanks Steve, I did not get replacement cheek pads for it, I will consider that. The neotec also felt big and bulky and my frame, which is to be expected for a modular I guess. And since I was planning to only have 1 helmet for now, I might still go down the xd4 route. A little more trouble with the glasses each time I put it on and off but nothing I can't handle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts

    • @standupmoto
      @standupmoto  2 роки тому +4

      Hi , I have worn the Neotec adventure riding but find it gets a little hot compared to my Arai adventure helmet. Also if your riding in dusty conditions and with other bikes you don’t have the peak to block sun on the visor making it hard to see at times, this can really be an issue especially when the sun is lower ie early morning or late afternoon. The ventilation of a good adventure helmet is also important (especially in Aussie heat) as your moving slower generally and don’t have as much air flow. Hope this helps, Cheers.

      Update: a local generic retailer now has 2022 yr helmets (date found on the Dring), and reports that new 2022 helmet marketing came out in June. Retailer says that only 10 people in Japan hand make all of the Arai helmets and their signature is on them, out of pride. There is no helmet with this amount of adjustability in liner, temple liner, cheekpads. You can even turn a Round Oval in to a Long Oval just from changing to the different liner. No other tags their helmets with these shape labels for quality detail reasons.

      Hey mate, I find it pretty good compared to some I’ve had. I have no problem on the Bluetooth taking calls or nav instructions from my gps up to 100 kph (60 mph), after that I wear ear plugs. Yes that seems like an old dude thing to do but I’m an old dude that can still hear & I put that down to wearing plugs at the higher speeds for the last 50 years. If you can get a 4 at a good price I’d say go for it, will seem a little tight at first but once it moulds to your head shape I recon it’s about as good as you can get 👍

      @standupmoto  2 роки тому +3

      Hello Felipe, this helmet is far better than some of my other enduro helmets at higher speeds. after about 130 to 140kph you do start to get some buffering but not bad at all. If you can try one before buying, I think this would make your mind up. One stand out feature to me is you can wear this helmet for many hours and it remains extremely comfortable, such can not be said for some of my others. Salutations.

    Good helmet but I'll never go back to a ADV helmet that isn't a modular and has a drop down sun shield.

    • @standupmoto
      @standupmoto  2 роки тому +3

      Yes the modular is a very easy helmet to live with for sure, unfortunately with off rd riding in dusty conditions when dust gets on the visor and the sun is low visibility is very poor. When you lower the peak on the ADV helmet you create a shadow on the visor and see again, I found this out the hard way many years ago while on a group ride across the desert late in the day. Hope you enjoy the video anyway.
