Imo, the clear lens is the way to go, i ride in the Rockies, use sunglasses during the day if needed but when heading home after sundown through mountains I don’t want a tinted screen
are you still happy with this helmet? I'm thinking to pick it up on discount as there is a newer model now. The only thing I'm not sure about is the lack of internal sunvisor on it. My old helmet has it and it was really useful (before it was all scratched up and became unusable lol)
I think the XD4 is the best helmet I have ever owned. I have had a lot of issues with internal visors plus it adds weight for all the components to make it possible. I can recommend the XD4 more. Make sure you have a good windscreen so the visor doesn’t give you any issues. Only thing I would switch for would be a Nexx’s carbon ADV helmet or I think klim has a carbon version also. But the XD is awesome man. Get it. You won’t regret it.
It is possible the XD-4 'wears lighter' because the fit, comfort, and functionality minimize subtle physiological stressors experienced with use of other less technologically refined helmets.
Man I am loving Portugal! The roads here are epic for motorcycles. I completely agree with you on the XD4. I have never had such a quality helmet. When you put it on it feels quality.
@@AmericanAbroad1 I’m very glad to know your enjoying my country. I’m Portuguese and I live next to one of the most beautiful roads to ride, in Cascais, near Guincho beach, and I’ve been riding for almost 40 years, all through Europe and Marrocos (next April I’ll be leaving to Marrocos with fiends once again - this time two up - ) . I know a lot of epic road to ride in a Portugal etc. We have a very small group of “veteran” riders and often travel around or just meet to ride (intelligently) talk and eat etc. if you need any thing or to meet some Portuguese riders, just let me know by PM.

I have never tried the shoei. I have a friend who has shoei’s and he won’t ride anything else. Some people love arai and some love shoei. Just get one and you will love it. I prefer the look of the arai better
It must be your BMW windshield because that Arai is so noisy for me. Almost unbearable and with earplugs still annoying. Other than that, I like it but I have since started using the Nexx X.WRL. Much quieter.
Oh this is good feedback. Yes it got even better when I moved to the push windscreen. Now it’s so quiet. NEXX also makes great helmets. Portugal made. I really would like to try the Nexx carbon version that mimics the XD4 but also is modular.

Exactly! Way better than constantly changing out lenses. I always hated to be that guy in a group that needed to stop to change lenses.
Wow, that’s a great price on that helmet! Best!
It really is!

Very well said. I may steal this comment for a future video
Are you enjoying Portugal? I also wear a Xd4 (I’ve had for 2 years) and I love it!
