wouldn't it be nice to say to Elton John, "thank you for being you and the gifts of music you have given us for 40 years". But, I like 1000s of others will just think this, and be greatful we have grown up and grown old, listening to such fantastic music.
So underrated. This solo version should of been a single, Still dont understand how recover your soul was not that big. It came after his biggest selling single ever. I think no radio stations were giving it a chance and just kept playing something about the way/c in the wind 97 over and over
Horses have always represented the true and flowing freedom that we, humans, utterly crave. I dedicate this song to my father who breeds and raises a very rare breed of horses. This is a man who has never been understood and has always lived his life in such a manner that many of us fail to understand. He, has always CRAVED the freedom of horses! I so wish that all of us could experience the freedom(s) that we truly need to experience in order to experience our own individual freedoms!
Totally agree with you, he never sounds the same, he changes his music all the time, and evolves constantly. And Bernie Taupin... i´m speechless .This song is so soulful.
Live like horses encapsulates everything I went through in 97/98 it kept me going, helped me make a massive change in 2003. It reaches me like no other song of it's type. I love it as much today as I ever did. Pavarotti adds that je ne sais quoi god bless him. I know every word of the song so the Italian is easily heard.
Excellent. Was looking for a version without Luciano because I want it all in English - so I can share...Thank-you. Great performance, Elton...great video and sound.
I love this.I have it and enjoy playing quite often.I love most of Elton John's ballads. His talent is astronomical. His private life is reckoned with by God,not me.
I can’t control this flesh and blood That’s wrapped around my bones It moves beneath me like a river Into the great unknown I stepped onto the moving stairs Before I could tie my shoes Pried a harp out the fingers of a renegade Who lived and died the blues And his promise made was never clear It just carved itself in me All I saw was frost inside my head On the night he said to me Someday we’ll live like horses Free rein from your old iron fences There’s more ways than one to regain your senses Break out the stalls and we’ll live like horses We’re the victims of the heartbreak That kept us short of breath Trapped above these bloodless streets Without a safety net I stood in line to join the trial One more customer of fate Claimed a spoke in the wheel of the wagon train On the road to the golden gate On the flat cracked desert I jumped ship It just made sense to me I’ve spent too long in the belly of the beast And now I shall be free Someday, free rein from your old iron fences There’s more ways than one to regain your senses Break out the stalls and we’ll live like horses
Jamais personne ne chante ses chansons comme lui.. Ses reprises sont toujours insipides, et les interprètes sont souvent assez déroutés artistiquement parlant...
Elton uses a MIDI hookup for his piano which allows him to add synthesizer layers on the regular piano sound. This can include electric piano for songs like "Daniel", or strings for when he wants to emphasize dramatic parts of the song during solo performances like this one. I've personally never liked it, but to each their own.
I agree! I liked it so much better when he had that huge early 70's Steinway sound. Even the tone of his piano sounds so fake, like an 80's digital piano or something.
@@jtsnowman66 It is one. It's a Roland RD1000/MKS-20 (mixed with a bit of Yamaha digital piano). Not sure there's much if any actual acoustic piano sound...5% maybe.
@77edster Perhaps the orchestral arrangement from the album wasn't available for licensing purposes, or else there wasn't enough time to rehearse with the orchestra. Still, I do agree that the synth strings weren't the best choice, and I generally haven't ever been a fan of their use in Elton's solo performances.
@Link71596 Is this a joke? I'm here to admire his TALENT. Such nonsensical/immature question of yours can be answered through a little research online. But i'll save you some time and reassure you -- Yes, he's gay. However, this fact doesn't make him ANY less inspirational and talented. My favorite male vocalist ever. And i'm so glad to have been introduced to his music since i was four years old.
@tallicAgrl9051 Gots to agree with you on this one...he is as gay as they get...but he is by all accounts, a great human being, and probably the 2nd greatest vocalist to ever sing "pop" music...and certainly the longest lasting pop vocalist of all time...
That was an awful album production-wise. He should re-do it - keep the vocals, re-record using acoustic instruments and get rid of all the wishy washy reverb which plagued the original. It's hard to imagine it was Chris Thomas who produced it!
Can we agree this is one of Eltons best vocal performances?
I can agree
Yes!! I adore this. A-mazing 💫✨🙏💙💜
I'd put Elton John right up there as one of the greatest musicians of all time. The guy is that good.
Always will be the best singer and pianist. World loves you.
That piano composition is just amazing. You can literally hear the horses running
*_One more hidden treasure from Sir Elton John !🤗💓🇧🇷🙏_*
One of my favorite songs ever❤️
wooow tha's what I call a complete artist, what a voice
Why do the people clap so calmly. I would have been jumping up and down screaming. He put so much emotion in this song. I love him.

I have to think he's received SOME accolades in his lifetime. Probably he didn't buy the mansion(s) by clipping coupons.

Elton John is rare, one of few artists who still does this today who sounds the same live as he does on the album
I remember my Mother Gave me this DVD when I was 8 and this performance was my favourite
Brilliant
Masterpiece

Yes!!!!
Beautiful song l love so
I think this song is underrated, I mean: only 62.000 views...
Have had the War Child version on repeat all week... Nice to hear this one
Great!!!!!
Amazing..!
Блестящее живое исполнение. Живая классика :-)
WoW. Every time I hear it!
Amazing
I can’t control this flesh and blood
That’s wrapped around my bones
It moves beneath me like a river
Into the great unknown
I stepped onto the moving stairs
Before I could tie my shoes
Pried a harp out the fingers of a renegade
Who lived and died the blues
And his promise made was never clear
It just carved itself in me
All I saw was frost inside my head
On the night he said to me
Someday we’ll live like horses
Free rein from your old iron fences
There’s more ways than one to regain your senses
Break out the stalls and we’ll live like horses
We’re the victims of the heartbreak
That kept us short of breath
Trapped above these bloodless streets
Without a safety net
I stood in line to join the trial
One more customer of fate
Claimed a spoke in the wheel of the wagon train
On the road to the golden gate
On the flat cracked desert I jumped ship
It just made sense to me
I’ve spent too long in the belly of the beast
And now I shall be free
Someday, free rein from your old iron fences
There’s more ways than one to regain your senses
Break out the stalls and we’ll live like horses
sounds encouraging

@@carlodangelo600 Oui, je suis bien d'accord.
He was on top form singing this. Shame the volume is so quite on the video though.

i do a version here too.

Is there a post of the words for this, I can't always catch his words?
When he stops playing the piano I can still hear some music. What else was playing apart from his piano?
La1 cellos and violins

Argh. There was supposed to be a question mark at the end of the first sentance. My bad.
Se non mettono il mi piace non è perché capiscono, anzi non capiscono un cazzo
when was this?
I guess en 1997.
Same? He sounds better than on the album here. the album-version is so over-produced..

@acerr40 The best being Freddie Mercury
