My baby sister watches Diana and roma Cocomelon Billion surprize toys My name is chicky Mik maks I watched all this, still do. My sister is in the world of crappy babies cartoons, unfortunately.
We watched Black Adder Goes Forth when learning about WW1. I'm sure we would have watched the Horrible Histories TV show had it existed at the time. I did read the books when I was a kid though.
I just couldn’t resist having a look for Minty Badger, and she really did exist! I think her first name could have been Aminta, but she does come up as “Minty” on the 1861 census, living with her mum and dad (who had normal names - Samuel and Elizabeth!). She used the name Minty when she married Richard Large, in Warwickshire, in 1866, so I suppose she became Minty Large? They had five children, but I think maybe he died because she shows up again as Aminta in 1876, marrying Charles Garner . . . then he died and she married Frederick Rawbone in 1893. So Minty Badger ended up as Minty Rawbone - and didn’t die until she was 94, in 1938!
The amount of stuff I learnt without realising, Horrible Histories genuinely made thousands of children enjoy learning and enjoy history and that's wonderful
I love how Horrible Histories, a children's TV show, was more historically accurate then the history channel. Also, the songs in horrible history were so good (Dick Turpin's song, Born to rule, and the absolute gem, The monarch song). I love Horrible Histories so much.
Watching this back, I’m realising actually it helps to have a contextual awareness of british tv adverts and shows (shouty man based on Barry Scott character on a cleaning advert for example. Other sketch types are based on different tv show varieties some you might recognise)
Horrible Histories is the reason my niece decided on a study path in history. As a child she had all the books, then watched the animated series and then the live action series. In high school she studied ancient and modern history. She has just completed her Master of Philosophy based on aspects of Ancient Greek law court speeches and will be applying to do her PHD soon, all because of Horrible Histories.

And she is the main woman! Martha Howe-Douglas!
Bob Hale's "but not for long!" is sooo iconic and you NEED to react to some of their songs, especially the monarchs song and Charles the second.
when he said "stupid deaths" I immediately smiled, that was the childhood song....but I've got a hating for the kings and queens song because my brother keeps singing it...the one that starts with william and ends with liz 2

Evan not being impressed with the terrible puns...........................
THE IRONY!!!
The fact that he didn't do the Charles II song, or the Kings and Queens song is treasonous.
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
The way Evan says every British woman reminds him of Catherine Tate.... it’s the same lady in different costumes 😹😹
Martha Howe-Douglas. Also brilliant in their Yonderland and Ghosts.
For the past to years (year 9-10) my history teacher wouldn't put on horrible histories in class because it was "too childish". Year 11 happens and each lesson we are watching it lol
so when does evan confess his crush for matthew baynton like the rest of us?
Matt was the reason I started watching tbh 😂
Nah, Mat's alright, but I'm strictly all about Simon and Larry.
He was such a legend!
Ahah anyone else remember the Dick Turpin song, and how everyone had a crush on that actor
Yesss Mathew Bayton
OMG MATT IS A FUCKING ANGEL WE LOGE HIIIIMMMM!!!! Also Charles II song anyone!?!
Very true
glad i'm not the only one
What do you mean "had"?

I like that bob hale always loses it by the end

I was introduced to HH when i lived in Australia
i think it’s a commonwealth thing ahaha i grew up in Malaysia, and i watched it in school rattus rattus is an absolute legend
Did anyone else sometimes just watch horrible histories in history lessons when the topic was right? Or was it just my school
omg we did too. at the end of almost every lesson we'd watch an episode even if it didn't fit the topic
We only did this once :( but it definitely helped with my revision outside of class haha
We watched Black Adder Goes Forth when learning about WW1.
I'm sure we would have watched the Horrible Histories TV show had it existed at the time. I did read the books when I was a kid though.

Evan: "How did they clean chimneys without Victorian Child?"

Extendable brushes.
They used to put chickens and other birds down for the same effect....
This show has been so culturally significant that every young person knows the British monarchs of the past millennia from a Horrible Histories song
Lol I’m Australian and I know the British monarchs from a HH song.

I love how Horrible Histories, a children's TV show, was more historically accurate then the history channel. Also, the songs in horrible history were so good (Dick Turpin's song, Born to rule, and the absolute gem, The monarch song). I love Horrible Histories so much.
To be fair, that's not exactly a big achievement. The History Channel rather famously put out 'Ancient Aliens'...
True. 😂
