I have a still new 23 Pilot Elite and I LOVE it! Bought it this past July and it now has approximately 14.5K miles on it.Really the only drawback is the 9 inch screen. What really sold me is the removable middle seat. I also love the naturally aspirated V6. I’m old school like that. I still average a rather respectable 25.5 mpg with it in very mixed driving. I’ve gotten as high as 32 mpg on a tankful in straight highway driving out west. I HIGHLY recommend it!
My Elite came with a spare. I don’t know about the other trims. I bought mine in early June so the Grand Highlander wasn’t out yet. The regular Highlander wasn’t an option since it wasn’t big enough, plus the fact the V6 was discontinued.
I just bought the 2024 Elite and is so fun to drive in sport mode, the V6 answer very quickly. Is very comfortable, is hard to stay awake if you´re not driving, I love it, I was between this and the Atlas Crossover Sport, but I saw so many problems with Atlas infotainment with no solution from dealers that I was very concerned about, and if you lose the screen, you lose everything in the Atlas, I hated the missing real buttons and at least Pilot are not putting all car features in the infotainment system.
We were in the same boat. Also, with all the issues Atlas owners are having, combined with the low trade-in value. I'm glad we got the Pilot. Please don't tell the secret about the Pilot in sport mode. Keep that among those of us who KNOW! 😂
I like car reviews by this channel. Because they showed/reviewed the car key as well. It's a small thing yet many other auto channels missed out. thank you for that small details!
I currently own a 2015 Odyssey and I'm ready to change to a non van car and I love that the pilot has everything that I love about my van when it comes to interior amenities and storage space. I really appreciate your review, guys! So glad there's still storage space for my kids booger collection 😂😂😂 The other car I was considering is a Grand Highlander but I refuse to get a turbo charged 4 banger...
Got the pilot trailsport for our family of 5 last month. Very happy so far compared to our 18 jeep wrangler . Lots of space , very comfortable ( took a 5 hour roadtrip day after purchase, my family slept the whole way . They were all surprised because thats never happened) . Lane assist works on winding roads( turns itself) , cruise control can be adjusted to follow at multiple distances between car in front, can comfortably put car seat in 3rd row . I mean walking in while carrying car seat . Wife likes to ride in 3rd row with baby. So much space back there and seats recline . Overall car is boring yes but we are very happy with the comfort and functionality.
I’ve owned a Pilot Elite for a few months now and I love it. I checked out other competitors but I landed on the Pilot. The CX-90 was too small inside and no bench seat in higher trims, the Grand Highlander was $10k markup in my area and again no bench seat in higher trims, the Korean twins have reliability concerns plus no bench seat in higher trims plus $5k+ markups, and American brands and European brands have a ton of reliability issues. After owning the Pilot for a few months, I really don’t have any issues with it. Sure the infotainment could be bigger, but it really doesn’t bother me and it being a touch screen full time is way easier to use than most luxury options that are touch pad or scroll wheel. The interior materials, while not luxury, are nice. I love having the bench seat in the second row. Pretty much the only mid size 3 row with that option in the top trim. Also the panorama sunroof is great, again pretty much the only mid size 3 row with that and a bench seat at the same time. The extra room under the trunk floor is awesome, keeps groceries from rolling around. Reliable V6 and all the features I wanted for less than most comparable trims from other brands. Not every car is for everyone, but for the list of things I wanted, this car was perfect. TL;DR The screen size is a non issue, highly competitive option in Elite trim.
@@vinagroeschel it’s actually pretty good. The ride is really smooth and road noise is quiet. It’s not super luxury quiet but coming from normal cars, the Pilot is significantly quieter.
I have a 2016 Elite and when I drove this new pilot I was disappointed. The exterior styling is nicer to me but that’s all that is better than my 2016. Acceleration is sluggish compared to my 2016, the dashboard looks very basic cause the infotainment screen is very small. The idea of one panoramic roof is better than the two mine has but the second row and third row didn’t feel like the room was better. I’m 6’3 btw. Handling feels a little better but the ride was not as good but a little quieter. Cargo room isn’t any different. If you have a 2016-2022 pilot this isn’t offering anything worth an upgrade. I’d rather buy a Mazda cx90 or a Kia telluride or a grand highlander hybrid max. I have 146k on my pilot now and the AC doesn’t work ( $4000 estimated repair ) and the engine had to be replaced at 127k miles. I love the design of the seats on the new one they have a better shape
I have a 2020 Pilot EXL that I leased and then chose to buy it - and that is after just leasing (5 Hondas, 2 Acura’s and a Chrysler Pacifica) since 2002. Why? Because the honda Pilot is so far behind everyone else in what is offers for the money. Yes…It is top-notch when it comes to roominess, convenient storage and family hauling. But Honda use to have a history of all that, plus values, plus great innovation AND great gas mileage. Now they are just losing on all levels. No hybrid engine or turbo engine for the Pilot that would greatly improve MPGs. There top trims are way behind Hyundai Palisade, Mazda CX-90 and many more in tech, rear ventilated seats, engine choice, luxury finishings and so much more. And what is with that wacky third row side window? It does not fall in line with any other angle - They must of had millions of these lying around and decided to use them! COME ON HONDA! It’s 2024 - Get with it!
Amazing… a $47K SUV and there is no ventilated fronts seats? Heck, the VW Atlas now has them on their lowest trim level! And both Hyundai Palisade and the Kia Telluride have then on both their top trims! Damn Honda, get with it!
I'm going to get 2024 Pilot Elite soon.I keep saying soon hoped to already have it. But hopefully by next month. I've already decided on my color combo Modern Steel with Brown interior. Already decided on PPO Towing Package and other accessories.
I have a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Limited AWD with the 2.4L Turbo. MSRP was $54,021. Some of the reasons we purchased this vehicle is as follows: 1) more cargo space in the rear, 2) comfortable for a 6"1" male seating in the third row, 3) better fuel economy 26 highway - 22 city, 4) safety features, 5) options included in the MSRP, 360 degree cameras, tow package, all weather mats and cargo liner, paint upgrade (Wind Chill Pearl), puddle lamps, rear cargo lighted hatch sill. Two car seats in the buckets, booster seat in the third row, turbo and transmission works terrific and overall a great purchase. This comment is coming from a Grammy & Pappy! Take a test drive!!
Toyota dealers are selling $8k-$10k above MSRP and it’s difficult to find any that aren’t as well as the buy back for your vehicle is about $8k below Kelley Blue Book Value making the Grand Highlander NOT worth it. I’m going back to Honda from my highlander.
I think the mid cycle refresh w/ the larger touchscreen from the Accord would be the 2026 model year while showcasing it in 2025. More importantly, I really want to see them make hybrid (particularly a V6 hybrid) an option too (though I doubt that would happen)
I’d pick it over the grand highlander without a doubt. Because it’s nicer inside better quality same space removable middle seat on top trims smooth v6 fast shifting 10 speed, sh awd and it’s a good value
I am glad to find you guys. This was so helpful. I drive a 2008 Honda Pilot 4x4 highest trim for that year and has 179,000 miles and have had no major issues so far. We are gifting it to my son who needs 4x4 where he lives so am looking at buying something else in the SUV class size or a tad smaller, but one question... is there any SUV in this class that doesn't have the dang start/stop feature. My husband bought a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 and he hates that (he upgraded from a 2006 GMC), and I am not sure I want that for my new car. I am so used to an older more simple vehicle I guess, but would love some new tech, just not that start/stop craziness. Excellent video reviews!
Thank you for the kind words! As far as the auto start/stop systems, we thought about it and we can't think of anything in the class that we recommend that doesn't have the system at this point. Thankfully, most models make it easy to turn off. Hope that helps
I got a 24 Pilot EXL in October. It's been nothing but problems. The first week the leather seat came unstitched. White paint issues in these! It's peeling and chipping on and under the hood. The front bumper has weird orange spots that came up. The roof has seam sealer they just painted over. The roof, hood, front and rear bumper need paint work and the fender is misaligned....run don't walk from these! Get a Grand Highlander!
I really wanted this vehicle to replace my aging 2009 Honda Pilot. I use it a lot for work. 1 Feature lost is the ability to open the rear glass separate from the main rear tailgate. Without that, I can't put long items I use often through the glass. Very disappointed they didn't bring this back. This leads me to other brands sadly. Either the Ford Expedition or the new Lexus GX550 coming out early next year.
@@darynm so was I until I read a Lexus owner comment on certain parts costing over $4k a couple of years ago. I can’t imagine what they cost now. Lexus are well made but parts do go out eventually ! It’s way better than GM or Ford
What other competitors have quieter ride? I read that the Mazda CX-90 has the worse ride quality; louder road noise, uncomfortable seats, and low 3rd row seating.
I wish they made the Pilot more off-road capable, like more ground clearance and a Sand Mode, cause here in the middle east you can drive on a desert with loose sand but you need a vehicle with high ground clearance.
This car's showcasing trim is the Trailsport version. It does just that with 1" higher clearance and all around off-road tuning with the cast iron belly.
Their torque vectoring AWD system (found in Pilot, Passport, and Ridgeline) is very affective and it does have sand mode too (the most aggressive mode).
I like the Pilot. It was on my shortlist but I went with a CX-90. The Pilot may be the most practical 6-cylinder 3-row, other than its subpar gas mileage. The biggest reason I didn't buy one was limited availability, which meant limited options and limited negotiating power. Honda's financing (3.9%) was also meh.
I think Honda does incandescent bulbs for the reverse and turn signals is because in the event your bulb goes out? You can quickly and easily get a replacement bulb from a big box store, automotive supply store, or your local gas station. I can probably pick up an 1157 bulb at my 7-11 😅
Most competitors offer a 12in infotainment screen even on the base trim. Yet, Honda decided to offer a 7in and 9in on its top trim. The decision is such a head scratcher. What was Honda thinking?
Eh... This is surely a fine crossover. Many will be happy with this, and it's probably better than an Atlas. As for me, I'm shopping Toyota, Mazda, and (of course) Hyundai and Kia for my driveway. I'll likely pay more than the Honda, but those all have a more appealing package.
Apparently, Chevrolet makes something in this segment. 😂 Kidding! I forget the Traverse mostly because I never think of Chevrolet anything for my driveway. I've owned three Chevys and, in hindsight, I've never been happy with them. No more Chevys. Ford also makes that Explorer for this segment. Aside from being faster and stronger, I don't know what their advantage is. It seems smaller than any of the others in the discussion. Jeep's Grand Cherokee L looks appealing. Very expensive at the top end of the line, and...Stellantis quality control combined with CDJR dealerships makes me avoid them.
@@doug6191the Ford Explorer has a way smaller 3rd row compared to the Japanese and Korean counterparts. The only advantage is that it drives better/sportier but that’s not something people in this segment look for.
@Boxingp4pbx I think you can read, but you can't comprehend. Look at the vehicles I mentioned. I said, "...Toyota, *Mazda*, Hyundai, and Kia." Depending on the source, the Telluride & Palisade have average to above average reliability, so your assumptions appear to be based on what you see in comment sections from like-minded pessimists affirming your bias against the Hyundai and Kia products. The Kia and Hyundai aren't using the 4-cylinder that was recalled. Put another way... You don't know what you're talking about.
Technically, Honda had made V6 hybrid a couple of times before, but they weren’t that successful. Taking about 2005-2007 Accord V6 hybrid and 2017-2021 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid. Though I wish they could make a Pilot V6 hybrid that makes it more efficient and more power too.
That dashboard is hella sad for 50k. It look like something that came out 15yrs ago. No hybrid option also. It a no go for me. Hopefully the midcycle refresh will bring in a more modern interior along with a hybrid option.
All new cars now are placing the side mirrors on the door instead of having them on the glass angle to avoid not necessary noise. Why Honda Pilot always slow with having such improvements.
I am shocked to see that the pilot is so much bigger but a couple of zonks. The noise is loud and also the screen for this size only 9 inches is pathetic. Should be at least 10 to 12 inches
not tall people friendly...seat comes forward as set it to highest position...im 6'4 and i need leg room...all other axis are singular...only up combines forward...not everyone is 5ft...do better Honda...you guys should also include everyone in your reviews
The family king is the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, best bang for your buck! I am not keeping my vehicles for more than five years, so I don't care what the engine or transmission will do at year 7 or 10. The Palisade Calligraphy's interior and features are light years better than Pilot or Highlander.
Imagine not getting the Mazda CX-90 over this it’s way more bang for your buck an not to mention design is way more upper class an it’s around the same price range but to teach there own…..
Does nobody drive manuals nowadays? So much tech is making them have exorbitant prices that become so unaffordable. Most of the features you don’t even need.
I really like the sound test the Bros do. Because if you are driving the thing all day, sound noise is tiring. For years, Honda have refused to take their bad reputation of road noise seriously. I would also like the Bros talk about the danger of having direct injection engines with no port injectors and the ramifications of doing so. I have no idea if this #.5 litre engine is direct, I suspect it is looking at the BHP. I hope it has port injectors.
I think it’s sad that there is no heated rear seats. Even though it has a third row. For a way cheaper price I’d consider getting a rogue. Cheaper, has climate controls in the back and heated rear seats. I wanna say, the Palisade would be a lot better than the pilot. Got a lot more features for the same price point! Especially since you get heated third row seats in the third row on limited or calligraphy. My opinion on this. Although, pilot may have a little bit more space, I want luxury over space. I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. They would love the palisade.
I just hate the screen. It isn't even just that it is too small, but the shape and way it is popped on there like that, it just looks like a cheap, economy car screen.
That is correct. The very top of the segment is the Traverse and Grand Highlander. We just focused in on the GH because people are mostly likely to cross shop that and the Pilot
Funny… but every other comparison reviews on these two vehicles, which also go into much more detail as far as mechanical, reliability, handling and comfort; pick the Honda HANDS DOWN. You two are out of your minds.
Looking to buy a 3rd row SUV. Our top choices are the 2024s... Toyota Grand Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night edition. We have only been able to test drive the Pilot so far and I was very impressed by the handling and smoothness of the ride. Very comfy seats and it actually felt like the 3rd row had more room then the 3rd row in the Grand Highlander. Maybe thats do to the angle and positioning of the seats? Also liked the addition storage under the trunk floor in the Pilot compared to Grand Highlander. The Grand Highlander we couldnt test drive as theres a recall on something with their system? and the dealer won't get another in till February. The "body roll" comment made in the video worried me. Has any other viewers test driven any of the three we are looking at? My first impressions on the vehicles we have looked at so far goes to the Honda Pilot. Still need to look at the Palisade. I've watched all the videos Car Confections as on the 3 vehicles we are looking at. Enjoying the info given in all of them. Thanks in advance to any comments/reviews.

If you don’t want glass falling on you in a rollover or don’t want the glass roof at all you can just press the automatic cover for the glass roof to at least provide some protection
Pretty sure we're comparing the reverse light LEDS and signals and not entire housings for around 25 bucks for 2. The entire housing is expensive for both vehicles. The other LEDS might be more on the Toyo due to being projected LEDS and not the cheaper reflective type on the Honda.

@@darynm so was I until I read a Lexus owner comment on certain parts costing over $4k a couple of years ago. I can’t imagine what they cost now. Lexus are well made but parts do go out eventually ! It’s way better than GM or Ford
Great video. Agree that Honda needs a hybrid system in the Pilot. Really needs that....
This is your best video. Great cars make great videos.
Glad you like them!
What other competitors have quieter ride? I read that the Mazda CX-90 has the worse ride quality; louder road noise, uncomfortable seats, and low 3rd row seating.
It’s very nice! My cousin has one
There is one with a sand mode….
What the overall fit and finish / build quality? I'm reading alot of negative reviews about poor panel gaps, leaking roof, paint issues etc.
I think Honda does incandescent bulbs for the reverse and turn signals is because in the event your bulb goes out? You can quickly and easily get a replacement bulb from a big box store, automotive supply store, or your local gas station.
I can probably pick up an 1157 bulb at my 7-11 😅
I'm supposed to be doing work...Great overview as usual.
Thanks haha
Now my first new Honda Pilot I want to buy.
Great open that was smooth!!
Wow! Definitely DID NOT expect the yo mama joke, but I enjoyed it!!
Tbh if this is a hybrid that can compete with the GH, then this will be the winner.
I like these, but when i sat in one the seat position was way too low to the floor. Didn't feel like i was in an SUV at all.
I appreciate the review. Do you guys have DB readings for a more realistic 70-80 mph on the highway?
I have a 2021 Pilot and I love it so much! Honda has done good with these SUVs in my opinion.
thank you for actually measuring the cargo space.
You're welcome!
Good looking rig. Better looking than the highlander and the previous pilot. By quite a bit.
@@Boxingp4pbx Fine by me. Less likely to see the same vehicle at intersections.

Our 2016 Pilot Touring's transmission went at 60,000 miles. I hope the new one is better.
For sure im going to get the Pilot Awd Sport
Question in newer cars is closing the door a bit hard damage it ?
The UAE doesn't get the trail sport model, the highest trim level is EX-L
The grand highlander is way better looking in and out
No ceiling vents is a no go for Vegas summers, especially for the 3rd row.
@13:00 love the booger collection tray feature.
I wish they offered it in a hybrid.
100% all Honda models should have Hybrids and plugins at this point lol
I’m sure they’re developing a Hybrid engine for the Refresh!
@@limitedreach4446I hope you are right. I really don’t want to go Toyota for my next car
@@limitedreach4446if they’re not, they’re just shooting them selves in the foot
Technically, Honda had made V6 hybrid a couple of times before, but they weren’t that successful. Taking about 2005-2007 Accord V6 hybrid and 2017-2021 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid. Though I wish they could make a Pilot V6 hybrid that makes it more efficient and more power too.
I’m happy Honda did not get rid of that workhorse of a engine
Can't belive they still have a manual adust timing belt instead of tinkng chain.
That dashboard is hella sad for 50k. It look like something that came out 15yrs ago. No hybrid option also. It a no go for me. Hopefully the midcycle refresh will bring in a more modern interior along with a hybrid option.
Hey the radio doesn’t show the cover art in Bluetooth or radio on the screen
2nd and 3rd row legroom isn't great with taller drivers and passengers
What is the noise level at 75 MPH on the interstate ?
A flip phone has a bigger screen. Come on Honda !
Better version of the CRV
A bigger version of the crv.
@@HecProman and in this case, bigger is better
I wish the backup camera was higher resolution like my older Ram 1500, had one of the clearest rear view cameras I’ve seen
Love the review. I might lease one. My kids are just mad you didn't tell them how many twinkies they can hide in the back. Lol
Thank you! Only donuts on this channel haha
What about the Atlas R-Line how does it compare
Is this a lower cost Acura MDX?
Imagine not getting the Mazda CX-90 over this it’s way more bang for your buck an not to mention design is way more upper class an it’s around the same price range but to teach there own…..
what state is this shot in? VA?
Kentucky
Does nobody drive manuals nowadays?
So much tech is making them have exorbitant prices that become so unaffordable. Most of the features you don’t even need.
I really like the sound test the Bros do. Because if you are driving the thing all day, sound noise is tiring. For years, Honda have refused to take their bad reputation of road noise seriously. I would also like the Bros talk about the danger of having direct injection engines with no port injectors and the ramifications of doing so. I have no idea if this #.5 litre engine is direct, I suspect it is looking at the BHP. I hope it has port injectors.
Length 199.9 it's not the longest like you say. The traverse sits at 204
One of the longest and THE longest are not the same thing
Does the touring has wireless android auto? Thx
Yes.
Yes it does
I think it’s sad that there is no heated rear seats.
I don't think so? Toyota Grand Highlander is the KING not Honda Pilot. Honda's only can dream they are the King???
I just hate the screen. It isn't even just that it is too small, but the shape and way it is popped on there like that, it just looks like a cheap, economy car screen.
I still prefer the 2022 model
Someone should tell the Pilot to unbig its back 😂 accord to Mason lol
LoL at that tiny screen. What an insult.
Sounds like someone that would rather concentrate on screens than the road
23 Pilot's interior screams depression 😂😂😂
Already looking 10 years old
What about the chevy traverse? I thought the chevy traverse was the largest in the class?
I do like the folding middle seat though.
That is correct. The very top of the segment is the Traverse and Grand Highlander. We just focused in on the GH because people are mostly likely to cross shop that and the Pilot
I have a 2004 honda element... this seems to be a bit bigger.
Don’t remember hearing the Air Ball
Probably the road noise...
Please make a video about Pilot vs MDX

Side view looks like a slightly smaller Hyundai Palisade
Funny… but every other comparison reviews on these two vehicles, which also go into much more detail as far as mechanical, reliability, handling and comfort; pick the Honda HANDS DOWN. You two are out of your minds.
Can you guys du the donnets digital please not fiscally
Honda is pretty common
Still has a timing belt instead of chain.!
No, GMC,CHEVROLET, DOGE, RAM,AND JEEP. THEY'RE CREPPY CAR.
Towing specs. ?
Why the hell manufactures uses these reflector led headlights instead of led projectors 🥶

Honda products the Engine runs strong and fast is suitable for each model. But the cars bodybuilders quality is bad (Not to mention the design) from five years old you will see what I said gradually appears especially the paint job which cannot be compared to TOYOTA.
This or a Telluride?
HATE the GLASS ROOF ! VERY WEAK IN A ROLLOVER !
If you don’t want glass falling on you in a rollover or don’t want the glass roof at all you can just press the automatic cover for the glass roof to at least provide some protection
Full LED is overrated. What happens when they go out? Just replace a cheap bulb....nope a take out a second mortgage light assembly replacement.
Pretty sure we're comparing the reverse light LEDS and signals and not entire housings for around 25 bucks for 2. The entire housing is expensive for both vehicles. The other LEDS might be more on the Toyo due to being projected LEDS and not the cheaper reflective type on the Honda.

Needs a hybrid option.....MPG is low. Honda, get moving on that.
