imho: omega seamaster diver is the best money/quality watch today on the market. It will just perform better than ANY other diver on the market on a "rational" comparison. The only reason to pick a fifty fathoms, a marine master, a Lange Odysseus, a Submariner is because you like that specific look or history, and you care about that more than the features/finishing/performance.
Many superlatives here: “best”, “better than any”... Really? A ‘Swatch’ for $4000 + ? While I do like the movement, I don’t think everybody would agree with your ‘rational’ comparison. If you really like the Omega, just buy a used one at half the price.
@@edteach3r it is quite clear that we value different things. Omega is not "swatch" even if it is in the same group. Finishing and materials of the Seamaster are on top of the watches in the diver sub 10k bracket. Coaxial escapement, accuracy and overall mechanical build are top in the same segment. Those are facts, not opinions, and you can easily verify them through youtube reviews (if you rely on them) or simply by taking a loupe and inspecting the watch yourself. In addition to this, your reply is just a polemic one, in fact there is NO WAY you can find a seamaster at half retail price unless it's a fake. You can easily buy one new for 5k or less, the current 2nd market value is about 4k, slightly less for bad conditions. Is depreciation going to be an issue for omega? Yes, in fact it's an issue with ANY brand except the overvalued Rolex and Patek. The only "opinion" in comparing the seamaster 300m diver to other divers is about your preference in its design and style, almost any other scientific metric is on the favour of the omega. If you disagree, please provide counterproof.
Void : Personally, I value Omega as a brand and was only questioning the superlatives you were assigning to a watch that is mass-produced. As a quick reference, I am looking at Chrono24 and Watchbox (verified dealers only) and there are a number available at 30-40% over new (including box and papers, cheaper without), and this is without looking very hard. I buy all my watches from my AD and they regularly have used Omega Seamasters (different models) for sale that offer significant discounts over new. I own a 1967 Seamaster (my dad’s watch) and it runs beautifully, and am currently looking at buying the calibre 321 Speedmaster. However, it is not the “best” watch, in my opinion.
Eddie de Beer everyone’s best will differ of course , but I def see his point ..... however show me another watch in the 5 grand range that categorically beats it . I’d love to consider it for my collection .... it’s a hell of a diver , it’s a hell of a watch ... people may be down on the look but that does not deny its workmanship its quality it’s value . And the swatch thing is so played out . It’s not even an argument it’s just stating a fact . Yep they own them . Like General Motors owns Cadillac ...
That is true, I mispoke. They even engrave it on the movement. The only thing that I was let down with on this movement was that they did not place the jumping hour hand in and instead placed a quickset date. I really love the jumping hour on the planet oceans and seamaster 300
@@BruceWilliams I get that. For me, I like the novelty of the jump hour hand, but I set the date infinitely more often than I travel across time zones.. so I actually prefer this movement :) I know its not as cool, but its more practical for a fellow like me.
The jumping hour hand belongs in a Gmt and I love it on my GMTs. However, I don't think a divers watch should be penalized for not having this feature. But that's just me.
Handled both extensively. If you're not a titanium fan, the LX will seem too light. The watch is also very thick and compared to the mm300 wears truer to size due to larger dial and indices pushed to edge of dial. The bracelet and clasp are disappointing just like the sbga231. The crown is very chunky and will bite into your wrist (depending in how you wear it). The dial in my opinion also looks cheap and plasticky with the matte charcoal finish. In prefer the regular mm300. If the lx is supposed to be the pinnacle of prospex and spring drive, they should reduce thickness by 2mm, reduce crown size, improve bracelet and clasp and use a deep gloss dial for it to look the part. The smp300 has better bracelet, clasp, dial and wears better than the lx
Seiko spring drives I have not had great luck with in GS watches, one of mine stopped moving within a year. GS didn’t cover it under warranty since GS stated it was in contact with an exterior magnet like an airport scanner. GS charged $880 to recharge the internal magnets on the watch and it took almost 3 months since it had to be sent to Japan. My GS spring drive chrono constantly ran fast about 10 seconds a day but GS claimed 1 second. GS also would not cover adjusting under warranty since the warranty states an guaranteed accuracy of plus or minus 10 seconds they just advertise plus or minus 1. While my Omega seamaster has been between plus 1.5-2 seconds daily and measured and my speedmaster is plus 4-4.5 seconds daily measured. So both are more accurate then my two spring drive movements. My A Lange Lange 1 beats both of them at less then 1 second a day measured even beats my two pateks which run 2-3 seconds over a day. My Seiko line watches are not spring drive just autos and my newest the Propex Alpinist is not very accurate at all but a great looking cheap watch at $750, it measures plus 10 seconds one day then minus 7 another, then minus 10, then minus 7 again, so far it’s all over the place but still nice looking for the price. I love the look of Seiko watches but their movement accuracy is only at the beginning and more hype then truth from my experience. Still amazing looking watches but movements are not at the level of many other brands out there unless you’re looking at their bargain or made in Japan but under a grand watches. Great finish on the watch and you really can’t expect COSC or DIN level movements at that price point no brand offers that under $2,000. I will say GS spring drive chrono watches have terrible resale value, so if you like them buy used since GS’s warranty covers almost nothing anyway.
The omega is probably the better watch m but prefer the looks of the seiko, don’t like the skeleton hands on the omega and the dial is to big cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Agree! I prefer the Seiko anytime and save some money for other watches. Omega hands arggg... I used to had some Omega's because of my wife like the brand, so every year she gave me one (Seamaster, PO, Proplof, etc) for my birthday and to these days only survive the Proplof. Instead I've some Grand Seiko and I'm happy with that decision.
I don't know what Bruce has, My MM300's finish is noticeably nicer than my Omega's was (it's gone now while I still have my Seiko). From what I've read about the movements, the Seamaster has nothing on the Marinemaster in terms of design; in fact, the MM300's movement appears to be a more efficient design while, according to one watchmaker I talked to, the Omega's Coax is a throwback to a less efficient design used as a basis for no other reason than so Omega can say they have something Rolex doesn't. However, he also did say that the Omega had more attention put to its movement's assembly while the Seiko could stand being regulated.
Great review, for me as a diver, can be only one answer, Seiko mm on price alone.Having a Seamaster for a few years and issues, back to swatch group. Would only trust the Seiko in the sea and for diving.
Beautifully shot video. Although I don’t think it would chance the winner, I would add weights to the scores for example, movement is much more important than presentation box, etc.
The box is also part of the brand experience and when you get into luxury, experience has a lot of weight. I think at Omegas price point you're getting an excellent experience. Their presentation boxes exceed Rolexes.
What a lot of people don't know, is many top-end watches do not give a crap about variance. APs have +7s from some users, same as Lange, etc. The mid-tier luxury watches (Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko, etc.) is where people actually really care about accuracy.
I think you may need to consider the actual cost of each point awarded to get the actual ‘bang per buck’ and also these are allegedly tool watches, divers, so which one performs the best in that situation? Finally, running costs and depreciation should also be considered to give a complete picture.
The triton is overly done imo, plus with the painted black portions. I just don't think it works. This is linear, clean, finer grain, and overall... just one of my favorite handsets
When it comes to extras... a nice box (giggity) is great and all but I think the extra strap means way more. After the day you get it, that box will usually be put away and never used or seen again. That extra strap is actually useful.
Bro....Movement only a 9? Come on man! Definitely a 10 given the value. Loved the video, but i think you ended up with final numbers closer than they should be. Seamaster crushes that Seiko.
While I am not into either of these watches, I agree with Bruce’s scores. The Seiko lacks personality while the Omega needs to shed some of its size. I agree the movement in the Omega is outstanding, however.
Great review Bruce; I think it was a fair assessment and you kept my attention the whole time. One thing that consistently bothers me with Seiko is their movements. I personally find them underwhelming at best in terms of aesthetic and fine when it comes to accuracy. While I believe the Marinemaster 300 is a good watch, i'd definitely be tempted to look else where in that price range.
Hi Bruce, great video thanks. I have owned both; the Seiko is terrific but for me it was just too similar to all of the other Seiko divers, albeit with a slightly higher quality apart from disappointingly low rent bracelet. Furthermore it's seriously way too to heavy. Just impossible too relax with. The Seamaster wore a lot better with it's better proportions and is a stunning and very individual looking piece with an epic movement. I agree though that the face, though stunning in finish, may be a little over the top for some people. Cheers from the UK
You read my mind! As soon as u posted the Seamaster review first thing that popped into my head was how it compares to the MM300. Like I’ve said before, I’m a big fan for 4 o’clock crowns. Great comparo!
Official price Seiko 3400€ on their site and Omega 4900€ so that is almost 50% more expensive, for me not a fair comparison. I like the classic looks from the Seiko more. Interesting review though, thank you!
Fantastic comparison Bruce! They are both great watches and I think this head to head proves, go with your gut and get the one that is calling to you - neither is a bad choice :)
Thanks for the vid, I have the seamaster and love it and I flipped the marinemaster but I do yearn for its return and could definitely see me owning both. Cheers mate
Old thread but just watching this video. I’ve had 2 Of the new Seamasters and loved the bling and waves on the dial, but hated the sharp edges of the case, the helium valve look on the wrist, and the non tapering bracelet. I avoided the Marinemaster because of all the reviews about it being too chunky. I have to say that that the Marinemaster is in a league of its own at half the price. If you can wear a Tudor GMT, you can wear the MM300. The bracelet is not as refined a the Omega but it works great, plus it’s a strap monster (great Strapcode options). The negative for me is that the date is too small. But who’s looking at the date while diving 😂
I feel really fortunate to have grabbed up one of the last 2531.80 SMP’s available at an AD. Since it had been discontinued, they gave me a considerable discount. I actually prefer the more subtle older wave dial. Your comparison was very fair and thoughtful. Well done!
It's an optical illusion. The dial of the Seiko is smaller, but the case is a little wider (if I recall correctly; sold my Omega and kept my MM300 some time back) and much thicker. The size of the dial does so much for the perceived size of a watch, I've found.
The omega is a butt ugly old man’s watch, it’s looks reminds me of the nineties. The Seiko has a harder look and it might take you back to the 70’s but compare that to the 90’s and everybody knows that 90’s is lame. Seiko looks is superior, only guys over 65 and Arabs would protest.
I especially like the DUST on the Omega dial which is easily seen on close ups starting at 1:42. I have never seen any on the 20 plus that I have owned but quality control is first to go when cranking out a product. I have had two large metal filings (1/2 mm) on a white dial Rolex that took 4 months to get in after ordered from their #1 retailer. It took another week to get that fixed and back to me from Rolex. I have only seen one piece of dust on one out of 120+ Seiko watches. Japanese culture frowns on needless imperfections.
Bruce I’ve never seen the Seiko in person and it’s lovely but the dial seems a bit small, perhaps if they thinned out the Bezel and made the diameter of the dial larger it would look more balanced?🤔
Enjoyed the video and I think pretty fair. I would have given crystal to Seiko. I have never had such a clear and pleasing crystal with AR only only the underside as my SLA023. They can do an invisible crystal with AR on the outside as is evidenced in their cheaper SARX line. The the MM300 crystal does some kind of magic with the undercoating and the inner dome design. It is also really nice knowing the surface won't ever get scratched up.
MM all day. Much more magic factor for me. Nothing worse than that SM bracelet design. MM keeps growing on you vs SM blah at first, and collect dust in the drawler within a week design.
Great compare Bruce. Question, is that pip (or capsule as Omega calls it) lume blue on that Seamaster? Didn’t look green to me in video. Mine is coming up blue-ish. Bugs me a little, but I don’t want my bezel swapped out, watch and bezel has been with me already for over a year, can’t give away attached memories.
Good comparison, but the scores need weighting - not sure 'box and extras' are equally important as 'quality!' That aside, these are two very good, but quite different watches. From my diver/owner perspective, the Seiko is a pro-level dive tool, the Omega a versatile luxury sports diver. The Seiko is more similar to the Planet Ocean or Sea-Dweller, the SMP to the Sub. I'd add that for diving, the Seiko has the better clasp: it doesn't matter if it's cheap pressed steel, it will clamp over a wetsuit or glove without removal and is very tough. Also, servicing is much cheaper on the Seiko and I'd say it's a more proven, reliable movement, that's easily regulated at service. I've got 4x 8L powered watches and 3 of them are more accurate than my 3x Omega CoAxials... But these are both nice watches, both are watches for life. For me, if Seiko improved the look of the bracelet (it's fine, functionally) and binned the Prospex logo, the Marinemaster would be at the level of a Sea-Dweller - that good.
Just don't understand why people keep complaining about the MM300 bracelet, it's truly a watch built for diver and actually very handy and easy to adjust when you wearing a wet suit.
They were beautiful pieces in two forms, Omega looks more dressy, and Seiko looks more sporty, I think Seiko more suitable for people who love have a T shirt and jean when go out.
Put you on a Seamaster? You're just one of the herd that couldn't put himself into a Submariner. Put on the MarineMaster? You're someone that puts thought into what he slaps on his wrist.
1. for me, the Marinemaster is the winner. Why is it not mentioned that a Grand Seiko movement works in the MM and is built in the Grand Seiko factory? Why is Dia Shield and Zaratsu polishing not mentioned. I like Omega, but not the Seamaster. These hands? I don't like the helium valve at all. Seiko is 300 water resistant and doesn't need such weird valve. Why wasn't that scored? The price difference was also not considered, would be at least 5 points. Comparable would be a watch from the new Seiko LX series- and there the winner would be clearly Seiko. Even if the packaging of Omega should be better, but I do not care. I do not have the packaging on my arm ;-)
I think for the vintage look and design, I would rather keep the MM300. Because Omega keeps on tweaking sa smp. Whether it be the size from 41mm to 42mm, small waves to no waves and bring it back again. So I'd rather save the extra 2K and fund the next watch and get the MM300 sbdx017.
Hey Bruce do you have a recommendation for a gmt auto 41mm or larger? I’ve been looking at the Tudor, the Rolex at 40mm is just too small for my wrist and over priced in my opinion. Thoughts?
I like the Seiko much better - than this PARTICULAR Omega - but, for a daily driver, if the Omega is only $1000 more, I'd recommend that since it's a much slimmer watch than the Seiko. I'll take the Seiko for serious diving, though, although I'm sure the Omega could probably deliver in that category as well.
Switch out the Mm300 bracelet for a Strapcode bracelet(I like the Angus j) or a waterproof leather or nylon strap. Your MM300 will look and feel much better.
What a comparison . May I give your test 10/10 ? Because I like it . Well, I have had 2 Omega Seamaster watches but not missing them at all . I like Seiko as a brand and have a couple of watches as well. Omega as a brand gets more appreciation of mine though . I agree on the Seiko bracelets , I don't know why they don't care about bracelet solidness and quality perception as much as cases , dials ,bezels Marine Master is very expensive too
I like the aesthetics of the marinemaster more but i'm not a fan of that movement. Speaking of the movement; The non free sprung 8l35 with no balance bridge, that you cant see, with a normal escapement, and a super wide acceptable accuracy range gets 8 points. You then give a movement you can see with a free sprung balance, a full balance bridge, silicon hair spring, coaxial escapement, extreme magnetic resistance, and master chronometer rating 9 points? how is all that stuff worth 1 point?
The difference lies in your perception of the 8l. There is nothing wrong with a well done simple movement with regulating pins. Seiko won many accuracy competitions with it. My knock is Seiko is overcautious in thier promised specs. Love the co axial. The only thing I wish they did was add the jumping hour feature used in the planet ocean and seamster 300
@@BruceWilliams I suppose it depends on what aspect of the hobby you are the most interested in. Movement technology and execution means the most to me and i've been burned by seiko too many times now.
I'm a big seiko Fan and collector and even I would give the 8L35 a lower score if the Omega only got a 9. My 8L35 in my MM300 gets + 0.7 seconds a day and it's phenomenal but on the other hand, my Emperor Tuna with the Same 8L35 is running at +8 seconds per day and only settles to +4 seconds a day if I keep it running for at least a week. For a 2thousand dollar watch, I'd expect better regulation. Maybe that's why seiko is pushing upmarket buyers to the LX line with the spring drives.
Good review but I don’t agree. Having owned all manner of Omega, Rolex, and Tudor watches, the Seiko is a whole lot of watch for the money. Similar to Christopher Ward in terms of bang per buck.
I am so tempted by that Seiko BW. I'm a sucker for blue dials too. Lol!
Omega Master Chronometers are tested in all 6 positions, not 5. That should bump it to a 10/10 for me.
@@stansuarez Not penalizing, just not giving perfect marks. That would leave no room for improvement
I’d like to see how the Seiko Prospex LX compares to the Omega......
Have both watches Seiko LX spring drive is a thicker watch but like it better than the Omega Seamaster with its heavy metal bracelet
Have both watches prefer Seiko prospects LX is a much lighter watch and more accurate movement But the Omega Seamaster movement is good as well
Handled both extensively.
@@Peter-tc3ep I must admit I don't believe you had the grand Seiko had it 3 years have no problems with it went through Airport didn't get magnetised
the MM300 hands down, it just more attractive to me.
I have both, i would wear the omega with a suite, definitely not the seiko.
The omega is probably the better watch m but prefer the looks of the seiko, don’t like the skeleton hands on the omega and the dial is to big cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
shaneweightman: exactly what I thought, those skeleton hands look so cheap and ugly.
Edit: It wasn't a watchmaker, it was an article in a watch magazine that talked about why Omega went to the Coaxial movement.
Great review, for me as a diver, can be only one answer, Seiko mm on price alone.Having a Seamaster for a few years and issues, back to swatch group. Would only trust the Seiko in the sea and for diving.
Although the Omega is undoubtedly great, there is something about the Seiko look that I absolutely love and it would be my choice.
I like Seiko , in fact , I have three ... BUT , Omega Sm all day everyday , twice on Sundays .
Bruce-Thanks for a great video. Having an 8.5" wrist the MM 300 would be my choice although you can't possibly go wrong with either.
Please MORE comparisons like this, Bruce!! 👍🏼
Love Seiko. Don’t care much about accuracy. Few second a day won’t make any difference in real life.
Grissana Takeyama Especially when we all have phones & can monitor how fast or slow our watch is anytime we want.
What a lot of people don't know, is many top-end watches do not give a crap about variance. APs have +7s from some users, same as Lange, etc. The mid-tier luxury watches (Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko, etc.) is where people actually really care about accuracy.
Omega Seamaster ftw, love mine. In one year of ownership have never left my wrist.
But which would you be more comfortable taking diving?
love that seamaster cant wait to pick mine up
I think you may need to consider the actual cost of each point awarded to get the actual ‘bang per buck’ and also these are allegedly tool watches, divers, so which one performs the best in that situation? Finally, running costs and depreciation should also be considered to give a complete picture.
Great comment!
Seiko Marinemaster vs Tudor Black Bay with in house movement would be interesting
Bruce , what do you think of the brushed hands on the seiko? I know you didn’t really like the brushed hands on the triton.
The triton is overly done imo, plus with the painted black portions. I just don't think it works. This is linear, clean, finer grain, and overall... just one of my favorite handsets
Bruce Williams got it.
When it comes to extras... a nice box (giggity) is great and all but I think the extra strap means way more. After the day you get it, that box will usually be put away and never used or seen again. That extra strap is actually useful.
Its not that great though. a 40 dollar strap...
@@BruceWilliams , lol, I have my Sumo on a $12 rubber strap right now. Options you can wear are fun. Even my fabulous Rolex box sits in the basement.
@@planetdee3587 true that. I really liked the older waffle straps they used to come with. Not excited about this one
@@BruceWilliams not even...
Bruce you made me pull back on MM, I will look on Omega instead. You are making a lot of sense here
Bro....Movement only a 9? Come on man! Definitely a 10 given the value. Loved the video, but i think you ended up with final numbers closer than they should be. Seamaster crushes that Seiko.
Yes, indeed. Bulletproof movement.
I can only give a 10 if its perfect and could not be improved.... not quite there imo
While I am not into either of these watches, I agree with Bruce’s scores. The Seiko lacks personality while the Omega needs to shed some of its size. I agree the movement in the Omega is outstanding, however.
I agree on movement the master co-axial should be a 10 ... Bruce you always so there is no perfect watch so I guess your sticking to your guns!
Would the 8L35 score a 9 if it was regulated?
Great review Bruce; I think it was a fair assessment and you kept my attention the whole time. One thing that consistently bothers me with Seiko is their movements. I personally find them underwhelming at best in terms of aesthetic and fine when it comes to accuracy. While I believe the Marinemaster 300 is a good watch, i'd definitely be tempted to look else where in that price range.
I love both, but I really appreciate the relative thinness of the Omega sometimes, the lume on the Seiko at other times.
Marinemaster Ali the way!!!
Truth!
Thanks Bruce. I reckon the MM300 on a leather, business casual Friday looks pretty cool. Great comparison, enjoyed it.
I wear mine on a green Tropic and it looks great.
Thanks!
Dive watch on leather....lol
Thanks for the vid, I have the seamaster and love it and I flipped the marinemaster but I do yearn for its return and could definitely see me owning both. Cheers mate
Agreed they could definitely coexist in a collection
The Seiko for boating, the Omega for motor boating.
Correct! Seiko is more robust. Coaxial movement is rather fragile.
@@code6400 I can definitely tell you've never owned Omega's new Coaxial.
@@NotificationalAlert I did but flipped it soon after. Not because of that, though.
Ha! hahaha Lold hard on this one.
One is a true tool diver and the other one desk diver..
Which one you prefer upto ones need
Another awesome, Bruce. You’re very good at this!
Well done!
Excellent! Getting a considerable discount at an AD is the best. Congrats Jeffery
seiko mm300 is my favorit ,omega is made for old man
I like the Seiko’s design is a classic design. I truly hate having two crowns on a watch, especially that it’s off balance.
This video just makes me wish you scored all watches you review. Like the metacritic of watch channels lol
Good video man!
Am I seeing things or does that Omega look noticeably larger than the Seiko?
It's an optical illusion. The dial of the Seiko is smaller, but the case is a little wider (if I recall correctly; sold my Omega and kept my MM300 some time back) and much thicker. The size of the dial does so much for the perceived size of a watch, I've found.
2 beautiful watches. Omega much better value over Rolex, Seiko a tremendous value Great review, many thanks! 😽
Once you owned a seiko you don’t realize you want another one and then becomes a collection
One for boating, and another one for cruising.
I normally don't get too impressed with seiko divers, but damn!! This reference is awesome
Sadly Seikos also suffer from their own issues like misaligned bezels, inserts, chapter rings and or markers.
Wow this is complete nonsense. imagine implying Seiko has quality control. Christ. Thanks for the laugh.
Bruce I’ve never seen the Seiko in person and it’s lovely but the dial seems a bit small, perhaps if they thinned out the Bezel and made the diameter of the dial larger it would look more balanced?🤔
I love the look myself :)
There are other seiko models with more balanced proportions. The marinemaster's tall and small faced look is iconic and has its own admirers.
Stanley Suarez yes, I don’t dislike it.
Luv the seiko but it’s the Omega all day long, it’s a great watch with a five year warranty 👍🇬🇧
Well said Peter
MM all day. Much more magic factor for me. Nothing worse than that SM bracelet design. MM keeps growing on you vs SM blah at first, and collect dust in the drawler within a week design.
Great video! I hope you will review the new limited edition black PVD Marinemaster! Cheers :)
Great comparison! Thank you.
Thanks for the useful video! Very well done comparison.
Thank you
Another great comparison. Really enjoying this series. I do love that Seamaster and would love to have it my humble collection.
I'm suprised their wasn't a value for money score.
The Omega bracelet might be better but is it $2000 better?
Most watch guys don't dive
Bruce Williams unfortunately this is a seiko prospex, and they tend to built something they name it for! 😅
@@philipchan68 I'm all for using it as intended. But that isn't justification for a bracelet that could be a lot better and still be taken diving
fantastic points, but a huge consideration also may be, how do the watches compare for use in their intended purpose ? no mention.
Same depth rating, i would say legibility goes to Seiko. Most people who dive use dive computers.
They were beautiful pieces in two forms, Omega looks more dressy, and Seiko looks more sporty, I think Seiko more suitable for people who love have a T shirt and jean when go out.
I own this exact combo and completely agree with you!
Thanks for the comparison, I tend to agree with your opinions on these 2 watches. Like them both!
Put you on a Seamaster? You're just one of the herd that couldn't put himself into a Submariner. Put on the MarineMaster? You're someone that puts thought into what he slaps on his wrist.
Sbdx001 number says everything and collectable
Love the Seiko because I don't like this Seamaster
For sure. The Omega is an ugly timepiece. It has always reminded me of a 90s/early 2000s TAG.
I much prefer last gen seamaster
I would love to own either of these watches, but if I had to choose it would be omega. Great video my man
1. for me, the Marinemaster is the winner.
U damn right!
Dude how to give 6 to seiko at history? At least an 8!
Your reviews are next level.
Hey Bruce do you have a recommendation for a gmt auto 41mm or larger? I’ve been looking at the Tudor, the Rolex at 40mm is just too small for my wrist and over priced in my opinion. Thoughts?
I think GS has a hi beat gmt at 41 or 42. Anything with an ETA isnt a true gmt. I would say the Tudor although tall is probably the best
Thx for the response Bruce.
I like the Seiko much better - than this PARTICULAR Omega - but, for a daily driver, if the Omega is only $1000 more, I'd recommend that since it's a much slimmer watch than the Seiko. I'll take the Seiko for serious diving, though, although I'm sure the Omega could probably deliver in that category as well.
they both have the same depth rating. Go PO and get double the depth rating.
Both beauts in their own way. Would service costs be a consideration as well?
Omega movement vs Seiko movement, from USA.
They would be similarly priced
The concept is very nice hope to see more of these. I'd like to see a GP Laureato vs the AP. Thanks
I agree on the Seiko brand perception comments. Points off for the Seamaster bezel grip = laughable
Neill Levine I agree on the bezel grip. Scalloping dates the look of the watch a bit.
I agree on the Seiko bracelets , I don't know why they don't care about bracelet solidness and quality perception as much as cases , dials ,bezels
Marine Master is very expensive too
MMaster all the way. The omega is simply too ugly, too 'Fashion designed'
I own both, i find the smp300 a better watch overall. Fit, versatility, and in my opinion design.
I wish I could get both!
Bruce, should I go for the black sla021 or blue sla023? They cost the same price at my local AD
I like the blue more personally
Very fair question
The omega movement is incredible . Blows this away . Perhaps a spring drive would be a much better comparison...
Love all the seikos but will go for the omega only on the basis of smaller thickness and the bracelet is much better
It definitely is a more manageable watch to wear
And waaaay better movement.
Jaspreet singh But $2000 better?!
Good review but I don’t agree. Having owned all manner of Omega, Rolex, and Tudor watches, the Seiko is a whole lot of watch for the money. Similar to Christopher Ward in terms of bang per buck. I’m not selling my Rolex root beer or Pepsi GMTs anytime soon, but I’d take the MarineMaster over the SeaMaster any day.
Great comp Bruce - SMP for me as well!
