How Monster Hunter World Changed EVERYTHING

- It is truly amazing to see the resurgence of Monster Hunter World Iceborne and it is made even better if you know why it happened. A game so good that capcom simply asking us to go play it and a reveal for Monster Hunter Wilds got MHWorld to become one of the most played games on steam YET AGAIN after 6 goddamn years. Just imagine what it takes to actually manage to do that....actually you don't have to think about it! Let's talk about it!

This video style was inspired by bricky and Skill Up but obviously is nowhere near as good as either of them. It is a work in progress.
Tell me:
What would you guys like to see CARRY OVER and be LEFT BEHIND from World Iceborne (or Rise Sunbreak) to MH Wilds? No new things. Specifically stuff they should keep or leave behind from 5th gen MH?
I personally want tenderizing gone. Allowing the players to make weakspots that take extra damage can and usually will cause health bloat in the long term which is detrimental to those who don't use it.
Honestly, breaking parts should just do the same as tenderising.
Better Ui for MKB users would be nice. Aiming a bowgun with a mouse is so nice but the radial on the controller is so much better.
Switch Skills should return in some capacity. Not to the extent of RiseBreak, but maybe a more limited system. Also, blast dashing should be a core mechanic of Gunlance going forward.
@cptncutleg Depending on the monster it acutally does that, i.e. Duramboros
@pizhhhout
So...MH World's special attacks?
Endemic life from world is probably the best addition it ever had. Dope video, can't wait to see what they do with wilds
Thank you! I aim to please!
I loooove endemic life!
I spent so many hours on my PS4 save just trying to get the big flying jellyfish at the very top of the hoarfrost reach. Not only are they really cool to look at and read about but they enhance the world so much more! I just hope we get to capture them in Wilds instead of just taking pics of them like in Rise
@@ItsHawxThat Wintermoon Nettle took me like 3 days.
Yes !!!! i poured 1k hours into the base game and still dont have all the rare endemic lifes
i somehow randomly remembered about monster hunter world roughly 2 months before the return to world campaign and bought it for the first time alongside iceborne, it is probably the best decision i made in buying games for a long time. i wanted to get it when it first came out but eventually it slipped my focus but was always lingering in the back of my mind
Great decision my friend!
I had the same thing happen to me with MHGenU.
How have you been enjoying MHWIB?
@@ItsHawx i have been fighting rajang, but the angry monkey is posing a challenge, ive been maining dual blades but have played some hammer, gunlance, switch blade and switch axe
160 hours well spent so far
Niiiiiiiiice question though...angry monkey as in furious rajang or angry monkey as in regular rajang?@@calciumconsumer5700
Let's goooooooooo. Here's to 840 hours more@@calciumconsumer5700
World is everything the franchise seemed like it wanted to be. Because... Paintballs and Scoutflies. Paintballs were annoying and weird. Tracking in world felt so much better. Also, not needing to carry whetstones in your inventory, pickaxes, bugnets... yeah streamlining all of that stuff was the right move.
I think MHW is a first attempt of what MH was supposed to be from the very beginning. A test run of sorts. MH Wilds at the very least SEEMS to be what MH was always meant to be.
If it actually is open world, I will be really sceptical cuz I have yet to play an open world game that does not absolutely suck. I have faith in the MH dev team but still sceptical
@@ItsHawxBreath of the Wilds, Tears of the Kingdom, Elden Ring, Spiderman, all of the open Elderscrolls/Fallout games come to mind as great open world games
I actually forgot about all of those when I typed that comment...But I also really only enjoyed Elden Ring out of those. BoTW was great too, just not for me personally. Never played Fallout/Elder Scrolls games, though it is not like I have heard positive things about bethesda products in recent history. Spiderman is good but I also felt like they were like most other open world games, but just...a bit better.
Never played ToTK but I have heard that it is not just a better BoTW but also a technical marvel bordering on black magic.
@ItsHawx Bethesda games are not great in general. The mechanics are clunky. the story is usually just enough and character development is non existent in the game.
But! The one thing Bethesda games get better than any other open world games is world building and just general vibe. I only played skyrim and fallout 4. Fallout 4 I didn't finish because mods prolly ruined it for me and the setting, although implemented well, gets completely overshadowed by the metro series' spin on it. Skyrim on the other hand is just lovely. It gives you all the freedom. You can do whatever the hell you want. In a good way. The role playing aspect is just incredible. And supposedly oblivion and morrowind are even better.
Highly recommend playing at least skyrim. The fact it got re released ten years later, with practically no changes, is with half justified reason.
But wilds shouldn't be an open world game imo, even if it would be cool and interesting. What is arguably a great middle ground, is travelling to other regions without active loading screens. I am talking about something like god of war did. Like travelling from the ancient forest to the wildspire waste could be done via loading up to an airship or a caravan and then instead of a loading screen we get a seamless transition to the camp of the other biome. Oh and make it skippable as soon as the loading in the background is done.
Would make for a great middle ground I think.
in old mh games you can wave at the airship and it would show you the location of the monster you are hunting
"Handler Must Die" is the headline on my guild card.

I’m so happy that monster hunter has gotten so much attention recently. Monster Hunter Wilds launch will be absolutely crazy
You're Gog damn right it will be!
MH is and remains the best franchise in all of gaming and I will not reject the cult allegations anymore. MH deserves a cult 😤
It's funny. My first Monster Hunter game was 3 Ultimate on the Wii U and it's the only game I've ever gone from kind of hating to being madly in love with. I've been a massive fan of the series ever since and to see it jump in popularity like this is mind-blowing.
When I first heard of how MHW was gonna be a global console release I was really worried about the community becoming more toxic.
And while new kinds of toxicity have been introduced to the community, I am glad that it stayed mostly as welcoming as before. Which made me like MH as whole more since it makes ppl cooperate
I started with MHFU and while I liked FU it was 3U that got me fully into the franchise. I spent days just grinding in that game with a buddy of mine.
Fingers crossed underwater combat returns!
Each subsequent entry in the series manages to realize what the series was always meant to be in some new way and I love it!
Let's hope they can add underwater back into the mix!
Recent went back to world made a new character and absolutely addicted to it again nice video bro
Same here
Took me ages to get to the grinding lands again but aside from the shenanigans in low rank I looooved re-experiencing it
And thank you! I worked hard on this
Ayo wait why does the Woodland Pteryx look like a smaller version of our new mount buddy in Wilds trailer
It flies
It walks
It's friendly to us... 👀
As someone who started with 4U in my late teens, i was so proud to sherpa my friends through world as we experienced the wonders of the new game together. To teach them the ways of monster hunter and coach them on the movesets of each weapon and monster. MHW has never left my favorites on steam, and if i still had my xbox i would probably be playing it there still too. It feels so good to be able to say "i liked this before it was cool" but not in a smug way, even if i joined late compared to some.
Honestly I get that feeling. I got a bunch of my friends into it and even was able to teach one of them who had been into MH for a few years now some new stuff
you have less than a thousand subs and you put out videos of this quality? bravo.
Thank you! I do try my best!
I don't plan on letting up either!
Proof of heros was such a good theme music. Got it playing in my room
Proof of a hero is the anthem that connects all hunters no matter where we are.
That long sword joke was great
I am glad you liked it!
straight up reminded me of my mate's response of "just use longsword" when i struggled with a monster.
*yeah how about i actually get good at the game*
I had an argument with a fellow gamer, a bit older than me. We discussed a "Top 100 games of all time" list and MHW wasn't there. I was shocked, knowing how great the game is and is an obvious pick for the franchise, when places a rare in a list like that. But it wasn't acknowledged and it felt sad. When you talk to people who like the game, like to talk about it the whole day and sink their teeth in the next monster, that is just a little too hard at the moment, then there should be a realisation, this left a mark in the video game cosmos that will never be forgotten! Let's enjoy this time, a time when new monster hunter games release and we have the joy of kids in our eyes to get smacked by the next visual and musical stunning creature
Great video, really enjoyed your view on the series and the game :D
Thank you!
I am surprised myself with how different people react to MH in different ways. Like IRL my friends genuinely never even heard of MH but when (and if) they look it up they are always surprised with how popular it is.
My personal top game of all time is MH4U. Such an amazing experience.
MH is genuinely the only game that manages to just jumpstart the same kind of joy, wonder and awe as when I first got into MH as a child. Cannot wait for MHWilds to do the same
@@ItsHawx ye I heard 4U is pretty good, so might be an experience to have before Wilds. Or GU because I have a Switch for that
That joy... it is fantastic for all of us and that is what video games should be for sure!
I actually just recently got monster hunter for the first time and as of today I beat the base game final boss too and I had fun
Nice! Glad you enjoyed it.
Which weapon do you main?
@@ItsHawx the longsword but I’m trying the glaive now and I like it too
7:11 the disrespect goddamn, hes legit one of the coolest looking fights in entirety of gaming
The fight may look cool but you have to admit he does look incredibly generic (which is not a bad thing, they did the same with fatalis)
I have been spending an unhealthy amount of time since getting into the game for the first time since the big sale. I've been putting off for years. My butt, legs and knees are starting to ache in new ways that I actually might have to do something about soon, and I still haven't gotten into Iceborne yet, I'm lapping up everything base World has first.
Welcome to the guild, hunter!
I cannot speak for others but that is usually how I spend a few days whenever a new MH game comes out. It really has something that just keeps you hooked. I usually attribute that to the innate curiosity within every one of us and these games allow us to discover a new world each and every time. The wonder and awe of discovering new monsters, locales, gear and weapons just scratches an itch, that barely any other game can even hope to scratch.
And uh....once you get towards the end of Iceborne uh...make sure you have a good ice elemental weapon...
Happy hunting!
take good care of yourself dude. You need to be as healthy as possible for the pure coccaine that is Iceborne.
Just quickly stand up after each hunt, while waiting to return to base- it activates your body
I played world for the first year. I had like 500+ hours. I bought iceborne but never played it for various reasons.
Was literally watching asmon play reminded me that i owned it. So i jumped straight into MR with no warm up. Made re learning the game tricky. But very fun
Had about 2k or 2.5k hours a lil bit before fatalis was released and then, thanks an error, I lost my save. Imagine going into MR without any useful decos
@@ItsHawx at least i had my end game HR gear to get me through the earlier iceborne monsters.
I guess i couldve had it worse.
Yep has no turned into one of my favorite games of all time
Awesome to hear!
What got you interested in it initially? A streamer? The people talking about this game having a resurgance? Or something else?
Your PFP is honestly cute as hell
Thank you! It was made by kawaiimelodies on twitter! Go give them a follow and like all their stuff!
It’s such a great game just so well done and fleshed out
''With at the time really good graphics'' Ima be real the graphics still hold up really well and the art direction alone elevates it above most western AAA slop.
To this day I have no idea what art direction means
@@ItsHawx It's the art style of the game, the way it's visually presented to you besides its graphical fidelity, that is a comparision of how realistic the game looks in comparison with... well, reality. Elden Ring, for example, doesn't have a really high graphical fidelity compared to some other AAA games, but its art direction still makes it look pretty. The same can be said about older, more stylized games.
i got into monster hunter through world pretty recently thanks to my friends suggesting it, and i’ve been having a blast. satisfying, meaningful combat and all the weapon attacks have so much weight and impact to them. my favorite weapons right now are gunlance, hammer, and hunting horn. one thing i’d love to see in future titles is the ability to use regular armor as vanity. sometimes my best armor setup looks a little strange with the mismatched gear, and the few layered armor sets i have don’t give me as much cosmetic freedom as i hoped. (idk if something like this is in rise, though. i haven’t played that one)
As you progress in World and Rise you unlock more layered armor, eventually you'll be able to equip any armor as layered in either game
@@michaelbailey1242 oh for real? thanks for letting me know
I played this again mostly cause my saved data was wiped. 3000 worth of hours of gameplay, collected all the armors and weapons. It broke my heart but my friends began playing, so, as their senior. I gotta make sure we have all the fun there is.
Goddamn that's a lot of hours!
I had 2.5k on my ps4 save.
I also lost my save file back in the day due to a cloud save error on Sony's end. Started a new one and worked my way back to where I was right before alatreon dropped. Alas without my decos so I had to stick to poverty sets which made everything pretty difficult going into Ala and Fatalis
It's a game where with enough practice with certain weapon types, you'll become the main character of an anime. I main charge blade, lbg/hbg and Bows for more than half my entire life playing the franchise and no matter what the game throws at me, I don't faze. As I know and understands the mastery of my weapons has reached its peak.
Spoken like a true isekai protagonist
Nice video, there's just one thing I want to say : in mh4u at least (dunno for older games), crits make a big red flash so definitely not hard to see
Ah I always thought they turned purple....must have remembered it wrong
Thanks for the info!
That was a thing back in freedom unite. The only other entry I've played, but several hundreds, possible as much as 2k, hours on a handheld.
Purple is negative crit proc, red was positive proc. IIRC both are in world.
Cool video, and interesting points.
I am currently playing through the World campaign for the first time, one thing I don't understand: what's so bad about the handler?
It varies quite a lot for different people.
For me personally her personality is grating, her constant "We did it" irritates me even though I know she means "we" as a team because I already don't like her, she has to be insane because who the hell runs around without a weapon out of range of the hunter and her constant "Hey player I know you are having fun but we have a storyline to follow". And aside from all of that she also has an uncanny valley effect on me. Like both her entire face and the player char's smile are extremely uncanny to me. Idk why just the two of us are so weird cuz none of the other chars evoke that feeling in me....oh and she is just an exposition dump, which is fine cuz not everyone knows MH.
@@ItsHawx Thank you for the reply! I don't think I agree with most of the points, but then again as I am new to the franchise I may just be unexperienced with what is a good baseline I suppose.
I'd say the baseline is pretty....VASTLY different. In the past unless you cared to read every text box the quest maidens (past name of the handlers) were just....there. They had their personalities, such as the Sophia calling the player "Doodle", collecting plushies and having a hard on for Brachydios (I am not joking) or the Pokke Village Chief literally being the grandma everyone likes, but they were never....in your face. Acknowledging their personalities was purely optional as you could simply skip their dialogue boxes.
They also weren't voiced aside from the good ol monster hunter language so their quirks were VERY hidden for those who simply wanted to hunt.
World forces you to, in my case, suffer the handler's personality.
Like look at it from this way: People LOVE the serious handler. She also has her quirks, but as she is a side character they are very light. She acts, as her name states, very professionally when talking.
I personally like the more professional attitude and so do many others because if you HAVE to engage with someone you kinda don't want to engage with, it might as well be someone who is not all in your face.
But of course there are others that have....worse reasons to dislike the handler but i think mainly people just don't want to deal with someone as bubbly as the handler
“Cult-like following” LMAO
You know I am right
Calls Safi basic
Fatalis has entered the chat
Both are basic, which what makes them stand out. Basic in this case is pretty good
Always tell people when I found out world was coming out it was the most excited I been about a game for a while
Simply based
the clutch claw tenderize mechanic was kinda iffy... so it can go...
i don't mind the flinch shot since it helps us KO monsters... it can stay...
AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, KEEP ENDEMIC LIFE...
Agree

Tenderizing kinda will just lead to health bloat
Well, they kept endemic life on Rise, the most streamlined/battle-focused game of the franchise, I see no reason for them not to keep it in Wilds that seems to return to a more grounded/immersive approach.
12:59 LISTEN MAN I JUST LIKE COUNTERING THINGS I’M SORRY-

For me Monster Hunter World/Iceborne is _literally_ the best game ever made❤️🔥
And it's definitely not nostalgia talking since I started with World/Iceborne. I can go on and on about multiple aspects of the game that are executed so well they are either one of or _the_ best in gaming of that aspect
But also the community is so wholesome and welcoming it's just a pleasure being a part of it
I am glad you have such a positive outlook on the community! Sadly recently I have seen quite a lot of infighting for barely valid reasons.
I do hope you stick around for MH6 then, since a lot of the grievances of the 5th gen will most likely have been rectified and improved upon then.
Worldborne can do this resurgence because it has a modern release on PC and Modern consoles as well as online features. if the older games had those(and now they do) they'd see a similar if smaller resurgence(and they have, across multiple generations). In the emulation space, OSMH is seeing a huge renaissance. Worldborne simply has the benefit of a retail avenue to do so on the most modern platforms.
Also, the reason for the item box resupply mechanic is likely not players just not being prepared or to be more forgiving for players who get hit more. It's probably to facilitate the expedition features. It's one thing to have limited resources for one hunt. It's another thing to have an Endless Hunting Mode on limited resources. Same for the respawning materials. They want you to have the option to just go out for as long as you like in World.
monster hunter has always been a fun game series, but world was the first time it became something more. sometimes i find myself just going out into the maps and watching things, be it the sky, the endemic life, the monsters, or whatever else. it feels like even if you weren’t there, everything would still be the same. the world itself isn’t just a backdrop for the hunts, it’s an organic, living, breathing ecosystem that hunts give you an excuse to interact with. it feels *alive* in a way that so few games feel.
Could not have said it better myself. I just hope that the endemic life actually does a tiny bit more. The forest pteryx kinda just jump from tree stump to tree stump

I love the handler.
i know most vid will talk how people love MH games because how great the gameplay is, how great the boss design, how fulfilling to Craft equipment from monster you kill/capture, of course all mh fans love the grinds, including me, that's what make me stay in the franchise for almost 20 years! but what make me love monster hunter is how unique esthetic, and world building in MH.
instead going to another typical Tolkien high fantasy style, or generic Japanese FF style, MH goes into medieval, steampunk, cave man fusion vibes in it, where's you get ship made of mix of wood and dragonbone, a forted city with steam engines and airship for public transportation, while half of citizen either dress like full plated armor with giant bone hammer or being unga bunga cave man with heavy machine gun, the people in MH are in thriving civilizations living with dangerous world ending dragons, not surviving! They're thriving, prosperous in this world.
the style so unique every fan will now the trailer is for new MH simply by how the character looks and bone greatsword he carried.
Monster Hunter is not only a game unlike anything, its fictional world build unlike anything
It is actually really impressive. This series shows so much respect for nature, that most other series simply just..mention but don't really show.
Simply the best timeline.
But one note. Not all people in the world prosper. The only prospering people in MH are the people living faaaaaar away from the frontier. The people on the frontier, where most of the games take place in, are playing on hardcore survival mode. Villages disappear on the regular without anyone noticing until a random hunter comes by only to notice that the village had been leveled months ago.
Thing's I'd like to carry on to Wilds:
+Endemic Life
+Layered weapons
+Turf fights
+Natural and Arena Traps
+Skills levels
+Boss fight hunts instead of just go there and kill like all others
+Some Clutch Moves in the movesets
+Crossplay and crosssave
+Trying to carry more Frontier monsters to the main line games
Somethings I don't want:
-Wirebug
-Clutch Claw
-Spiribirds
-Vertical maps useless to hunt just movement(like rise)
-Aflicted mechanic's
-Monsters spamming their powers nonstop(yes yourself AT Velkhana)
-Underwater combat(just no pls)
-"Realistic" Weapons and Armor
Look I am a bird lover, look at all my branding, but good fucking lord if i could kill spiribirds I would. If they gave optional bonuses that'd be one thing but they made them mandatory.
BUT why no underwater combat? As I have been told they have been actively working on bringing it back (see mhw techdemo). Just imagine all the waterbased creatures zo discover and ruins to explore
Quite the contracy, I love AT Velkhana, Clutch Caw and Wirebug simply just new unpolished gimmick that I believe in the future could be better, underwater combat is uhh, idk what to say but, older franchise kinda make it sucks, IT COULD BE GOOD
Underwater combat I loved it the rare few though no clue how my hh worked under water
@@ItsHawx The movement on Underwater combat is cluncky, imagine Dash Dance Bow underwater, they will get propulsion of what? Shallow water combat I could see better if we could have a swimming mount that can carry us on combat movement, like a otter that carry us to some direction like a dash and so
I believe they can add clutch claw but they must have cooldowns. It would make the use of it situational not spammable.
Best game since its release
As much as I love world, I do believe MH4U is still the gold standard
sword and shield is easy to use, because you can actually just spam one button to hit the monster and they are quick, non-committal moves.
hammer is 2 star because it's attacks are generally slow and require you to understand directional inputs so you don't just lock yourself into the spinning level 3 charge.
lance is the hardest to use because it requires you to know how to use it's full kit in order to properly use it so many beginners could probably hide in a corner, but they'll probably just sit in that corner blocking without attacking and not kill the monster.
Does anybody know which song plays at 20:25 to the end of the video? I tried asking ChatGPT, but we weren't able to come up with the correct song.
Ok. Woah woah woah. Mastering the LS is not easy man …
Iunno bro sounds like a buncha bullfango dung to me😆
@@ItsHawx lol 😂
The only MH gave I'd played or could even get a hold of is MH3/3U. And I fell inlove from the get go. So World was an obvious buy from me, even without having played other games.
Monster hunter world iceborne was a microcosm of everything I hoped monster hunter could be with graphics, maps, ecology, combat and the live service and while there where some key issues that's I hope get ironed out in wilds like the weapon design, clutch claw, title update MR requirements, the issue with not being able to join until the cutscenes is over, and restocking I hope wilds just triples down on everything world set out to do, world is one of the best games ever made and wilds has a truly enormous amount of potential but also a enormous amount to live up to
Could not agree more. Though i have to add: Less mtx. MHW started selling cosmetic items we would have otherwise gotten in event quests and rise was genuinely horrible by locking every cool cosmetic item behind paywalls.
That shit needs to be cut out immediately
@@ItsHawx il extend a olive brach to the money men and say that for us to get all that free high quality title update content like fatalis for a year after release, the game does need to have a revune stream, that's just business and while icebornes wasn't perfact it was definitely a lot more healthy then rise, I'm fine with stuff for your room or pendents soundtracks, handler costumes and a few hairstyles here and there but cosmetic armour and weapons is over the line and needs to be cut down immediately and not be allowed to fester
My thoughts exactly. Locking stuff behind a paywall that was previously earned is scummy as shit@@stormerjc9493
Unpopular opinion I know haha but I actually dont mind the handler. I think she was fine for the role she served. Tho in some regards I can understand some frustrations with her
It is totally 100% valid to not be annoyed by her. But imo I don't...get her point.
Yes she was there to info dump for newcomers and lighten up the game a bit...but...we didn't need that. The game is already lighthearted enough as it is. Her comments are also really....vexing more than fun. And her actions are infuriating (take the deviljho introduction for example).
It was so distracting and feels like it does not belong in the game. It's not like the hunter needed a mouthpiece as we have had several fade to black explanations or looks and nods.
Hell if they NEEDED to attach a handler to us, why not the serious handler? Her demeanor is great and nice to listen to. I am sure if their roles were swapped, the Handler's attitude would have also been more liked by the community cuz we would not have been subjected to it all the time.
@@ItsHawx I felt like they made her too helpless, she IS an A-lister. They made her too much of a damsel in distress despite her probably working on the field for several years in the old world. They should make carry some sort of self defense tool/weapons like flash pod or smth and not having her froze in place every time she was in the face of danger, she should not be a combatant BUT she shouldnt be a helpless damsel either. What she should be is a competent, reliable partner to us. I dont mind her personality but man if she can actually defense herself people would like her 1000× more.
Oh my god I actually forgot she is supposed to be a top...hunter adjacent thing...jesus christ they really failed her character from beginning to end
On your question of why the lance is a 1-star for ease of use to the beginning- the lance is deceptively complex for a new beginner
The complexity of the weapon lies in the footwork and how you have to maneuver around monsters to compensate for your slow walk and slow sheath speed, as well as having a small hop instead of a roll. Every other weapon in the game relies around attack attack attack > roll > (maybe sheath?) > relocate >attack, whereas lance is attack attack > counter > guard dash > attack > hop> attack > charge > attack >counter > guard dash > loop etc. I think that's why the beginner "ease of use" is so low because beginners are going to want to roll or walk with their weapons out or sheath them to get close to the monster, because thats what every other weapon is designed to do, but with the lance you have to learn how to use its mobility with it unsheathed or else you are going to be frustrated and probably flattened. Or take 40 minutes on the hunt because you slow walk everywhere and just poke things while turtling behind the shield lol
The lance is about CONSTANT attacking, and relying on footwork to relocate without sheathing your weapon, because as a lance, sheathing your weapon is dangerous. The complexity of the weapon doesnt come from its attack combos, it comes from the footwork and knowing when to attack and how to relocate while continuously attacking or moving away from the monster/letting the monster get away from you.
I spent 15 years playing the GS, Hammer, LS, CB, Swax, Hunting Horn and SnS and picked up the lance at the end of Iceborne and fell in love because of how much you truly feel like you're dueling the monster, compared to any other weapon I've used, and it instantly became my new main. If anyone wants to replay world with a new weapon I would highly recommend trying out the lance and truly trying to learn its dance, because its one of the most engaging and aggressive weapons in the game and its so slept on.
Hmmmm i may try and pick up the lance then. Any recs for a lance against furious rajang?
@ItsHawx would 100% recommend it, and don't let its slow speed discourage you in the beginning.
I really only ended up running fatalis lance in the endgame against everything, so that'd be my first immediate recommendation. It's been awhile since I looked at any other lance tbh
Mhfu every new series i try to learn or main 1- two new weapons.. lance bow gs hbg havent been mained hh forever fav
after being in series since 2008
world is nice, like the base game was easy but it was enjoyable, the weapons had their identity, each has their nice way of using for each monster, despite my insistence to play longsword on everything at least once, having a living and breathing world made it nice, despite the fall of weapon design, its not without its flaws but its a very well made game. My favorite monster to hunt at least once a day is stygian zinogre, my warm up boi. Just yesterday I finished my 5th fatalis solo
Monster Hunter started as a PlayStation 2 game before moving to Nintendo handheld.
It just came back home to the big screen.
🎉😊❤
I wouldn't call the big screen home. The franchise would have died without the nintendo exclusivity deal.
It was massive in Japan on the Playstation Portable though.. MHFU and MHP3rd were huge hits. The only reason 3rd didn't get localized was due to the rampant piracy of MHFU overseas which led to poor sales. The franchise was never far from dead and if for example it came out on the PS Vita it would have sold many systems. The 3DS titles sold more 3DSes that really any other game in Japan. idk it may have been niche everywhere else but the Monster Hunter franchise is like crack to Japanese gamers@@ItsHawx
oh I know mh sells like hot potatoes in jp@@MegaNutMuffin
I simply meant that it was born as a PlayStation before growing up to what it is now.

I'm proud of my endemic collections.
Should be. That shit is addictive as hell
Bring back endemic life. It's so simple and subtle but it really makes the world feel alive.
Leave out the uninspired weapon designs. I get that if they're low lvl mons you might not have that weapon for long but at the late game transmoging would be a buffet of choice.
I think the slap on weapon designs was more of result of issues during development. If you look at the weapons of Nergigante they start as slap on but slowly morph into fully monster-ified.
My guess is they wanted that for everything but something got in the way and they had to shelve it.
I doubt they will make that mistake again though, what with how much backlash they got for it across the board.
Endemic life needs to return yea. I can no longer imagine MH without endemic life
The comparison of monster hunter to dark souls reminds me of ign comparing SMTV to persona 5 LOL
Ngl I forgot shin megami tensei existed
Tbh, I just hit 150h on mhw and came as a 5000+ hours Soul player and the clunky combat and difficulty is what attracted me ahaha
Being attracted by one's similarities is fine, cuz the games have similarities but boiling them down like they were is what made people angry
@@ItsHawx I mean that is very fair.
I do find it weird when people always have to compare EVERY single elements to a game that is simply that, simillar.
People who got disapointed this wasn't dark soul should of.. well, go back to dark souls
As a big souls fan myself, I tend to just ignore anything that is said regarding "its too souls like" as there is only so many way you can make your own combat system about swinging weapons around
Should do everything in Base-World first before Iceborne.
That is recommended as you would miss a lot of stuff if you don't but you can skip it if you want with the Defender gear.
MHW is amazing in so many ways but I also feel like its lacking in many ways as well. The things it does well are completely unmatched in the rest of the series but its shortcomings are things its predocessors already figured out long ago, so it kinda puts this game in a weird spot for me. However it is to be expected that with pushing so many boundries capcom were bound to fail here and there. I have a really good feeling about wilds tho, after both World and Rise I think capcom recieved enough feedback and gained enough experience with the new style of Monster hunter to trully bring us the best experience possible. Here's hoping it will also be a difficult one like the older days
... unfair hit boxes wanted??? Just give me gore magdala back

What? Nobody said anything about hitboxes dude
I can't tell you how glad I was back then when I learnt that new MH is not on those ghastly 280p 3DS screen
I was actually not believing my own eyes when I saw the reveal trailer say ps4 or xbox one
endemic life is definitely not a new thing, the player interaction with it is
Its breakthrough is not how monhun get out from Nintendo and make it accessable in PlayStation 4/5, since the very first monhun start in PlayStation 2. Instead its how monhun as a franchise is so integrated to as a handheld game, its basically a culture in japan that when u talk handheld game its about monhun and vice versa when u talk monhun it mean a handheld game. And while handheld game is a really popular type of gaming in japan (which funnily caused by mohun series), handheld was not for everyone, so they need to dare to big screen to appeal to more, they done it before thru some monhun spinoff, but world is the first game changing as it also brought change to other things.
Also part of the reason why before monhun world the series graphic was not that impressed is bcs this series has always stay in handheld devices so it was never the priority.

Yes and no
This is an alright video but it gets some things wrong.
First of all you do need to go hunt other monsters to upgrade some of the higher tier weapons and armors. For example the MR Teostra waist requires you to get a Fulgar Anja Mantle (1-3% drop chance) which as a vet hunter I DO enjoy. It makes sense to me because the Fulgar set has a lot of Weakness Exploit in it and that waist piece is the only piece out of the set to have WEX on it. Then you have weapon augmentation and armor augmentation that requires you to go spam hours of guiding lands killing random monsters.
The game is definitely not too easy as most people won't be able to clear most hunts solo. Especially not the top end MR hunts (try a Raging Brachy public lobby, I failed 6 in a row without carting myself once). Now imagine these same players ever being able to solo an Alatreon or Fatalis. It definitely won't be possible for them unless they put a lot of time into improving their play.
As far as the story is concerned, it's the best it's ever been since we have some iconic characters like the Admiral, Huntsman, and Handler. All other stories before this aside from 4U were mostly just "you're new" to "you're the best save us" and we were perfectly okay with that. We don't play Monster Hunter for story we play it for the combat. Overall I think World is near perfect now and I hope Wilds is mostly 1 to 1 with a lot of it's systems. It definitely wasn't at release when there was a lack of content to do aside from event quests and Kulve raids but after so many years of being out they have a crazy amount of content for newer people to experience.
idk man I read your comment and I see us agreeing more than disagreeing
I hope wilds is a bit less frustrating than world. I am sure I am not the only one who hates chasing monsters across the map. Legiana in the coral highland especially! It’s fun the first few times but then it becomes a perpetual annoyance, especially when you are trying to farm monsters. Maybe after a few hunts or captures, monsters should no longer run, so the grind is not a time drain. Who’s got time for that?
And then there is the dreaded pickle, when you are about to capture a monster… Yeah, sure dung pods, but, could we not?
I think the chasing may get even worse with Wilds tbh, since they want them to be even more like living creatures and said creatures WOULD flee.
But I do agree with you about World being somewhat frustrating. The constant roaring is what annoys the hell out of me.
@@ItsHawx oh, yeah, forgot to mention the roars! Rise solved the problem of chasing with a fast mount, the palamutes, and I love those. Wilds seems to have something even better… that glides. Keep 🤞
i think that monster hunter is similar to like 8 other games
It's not like everything world changed was good. It had a really lackluster monster roster before iceborne and it still lacks some monster types, it only really has wyverns.
I actually have a game theory on that
I think because they were trying to go for a world wide appeal they wanted to "test the waters" by presenting westerners with something familiar. In this case "dRaGoNs", hence the stupidly large amount of wyverns. Maybe they thought too many monkeys (i.e. congalala) would make the game look too silly
@@ItsHawx I think the more likely answer is that the roster was an extension on the explicit goal stated by the director, reimagine MH 1. Look at the first monster hunters roster, now look at world. Notice something similar?
monster variety i think thats one of the things sunbreak did right
100% agree. World was a scaley convention by comparison hooooly shit bro. Why so many wyverns? Where monkes aside from rajang? Where crab rave? Ok I am actually fine with no crabs cuz fuck the 3 that we have
LOL I remember tha5 vid with 900 likes to 6k dislikes... 😂😂😂😂
It has become like an unspoken rule to know that video in the community
Ain't no way there are people out there that compared Monster Hunter World to DARK SOULS 💀
Bro I remember people calling MH a soulslike when World came out
That hurt my very soul
Monster Hunter Iceborne is my favorite monster hunter of all time, but the game is a lot easier than Ultimate Generations.
The way my son and I made the game a little harder was to skip Safi'jiiva.
Made the game so much fun.
Personally Rise was a little disappointing
Here's to hoping you and your son can enjoy MH Wilds more than rise 😂
I actually love Wild Hearts beside the issue it had. EA really fked up.
Wild hearts was great in spite of its issues.
The thing that ruined it for me was the lacking monster designs and armor variety. It also felt slightly imbalanced.
Wish EA had given it more resources and I hope for a Wild Hearts 2 cuz they were on to something
@ItsHawx I completely agree on this, too. Wish they had more.
Well it wouldn't happen for any other monster hunter game lol. Since they are all lacking online servers or the servers are about to shutdown(r.i.p 3U, 4, 4U, Gen, and XX), thank god we have the wonderful private server devs so we can enjoy the old games again.
Well ok if you look at it that way of course it wouldn't happen for the others xD
Sadly, I will never get to iceborne. Not skilled enough… It took me 4 tries to beat Teostra with IG, and I fear that anything tougher that that will be my final wall 😢
I mean....Have you tried other weapons? Or playing with others? Or maybe a mixed set? I doubt you should stop this early in the game. Stick with it and keep trying!
@@ItsHawx I started with CB but it was too hard, couldn’t hit the big damage combos, got caught mid animation and wrecked. Switched to lance and that works ok for some hunts, especially nergigante. Sword and shield is ok for me but requires mastery for max dps. Bow was no go and bowguns also were a bit lame starting out. So I settled for IG, because it given me the mobility I need to survive. Maybe I should try dual blades more than just superficially.
Honestly try out the longsword. It is the most newcomer friendly weapon imo. And if push comes to shove try using the sos flare to get people to help you. No shame in that. MH is more fun with others anyway@@marsrii4372
4 tries isn't a bad number, especially if it's a first mh game. most new players are gunna get messed up by him, but if it is too frustrating for you then yeah gotta take care of yourself. i definitely recommend trying rise, it's much easier compared to world.
@@petercottantail7850 lol, I took a break from world, to play rise, and you are right, much easier. Now back to world to see if I can disrespect the steel-wind dragon or if he will end me😫
Been playing it since mh3 on the Wii, fav is mh4, generations and number one is world and rise is OK, monster hunter stories 2 is brilliant.
Oh would you recommend Stories 2 to someone who really does not enjoy turned based games? (Baldur's Gate 3 being the exception)
Only bad thing about world is the handler imo lol
Really? I thought easy mode was a combo of slugger 5 and a hammer 🤣
Well...the hammer, as amazing as it is, cannot parry quite literally everything.
They should remove part tenderizing, clutch claw can stay but out with the claggers too. The slinger should stay, they should not add defender armor when the expansion is released. They should expand on the iceborne mechanics of having to discover monsters on expeditions before unlocking the quest and also on the guiding lands concept of everquesting(killing monsters non-stop without quest nor reporting in and still getting materials at the end).
And they should allow you to get some extra supplies on the field but you shouldn't be able to access your full item box inventory to resupply.
Sounds like a more balanced idea than what we have now yea
Wild hearts deserved better but EA helped in screwing the game's success. I hope the dev team gets another chance maybe with another publisher
Alright Gaymerz !
wish i never played it. I loved it for years from a distance, then got it and ruined the medium entirely
Oh why?
@@ItsHawx i think I experienced the same thing you expereinced with Armored Core ... and I really would like to avoid going full Vergil from Devil may Cry about it xD
maybe it's " us " ... i'm open to that possibility ... but I'll personally keep analyzing both myself and others about that subject
Well it's a bummer you disliked it so much. Maybe the next MH could rectify the problems you have with.
Also holy crap I did not expect someone to watch my AC6 video and not insult me over it 😂
No more tenderizing I hope. Really hate this mechanic.
Agreed. Tenderizing is a flawed and honestly annoying nigh mandatory mechanic.
NUT
It still surprises me that you consistently do this on mainly MH stuff
I have 1 thing that BUGS THE FUCK out of me.
The fact that my palico never picks up my shinny drops wtf bruh.
I mean...they never did. If you want them to get extra items you would have to equip them with the plunderblade
Monster hunter world is literally a unique game one never gets bored playing it I can keep playing the game from hours
By Gog you don't know how right you are
I genuinely thinks that if the devs gives mhwilds the mhrise treatment, mh franchise might be done for.
What makes you think so?
@@ItsHawx dude, this is just my opinion but, endemic life is one of the things that makes mhworld popular till now, people now expect that feature to be in future monster hunter games but they didn't add it for some reason and lets face it, mhworld graphics is way more better than mhrise, all though storywise both are good, mhworld is way better just because of those two things.
I think you will soon find that MH players don't really care for graphics.
And yes I do expect endemic life to be back but for 1. it is not the make or break reason for the game to be popular and 2. MH has thrived off of its stellar combat, intrguing monster designs and customer friendly practices.
MH would not die even if it was more like Rise going forward. Yes the game was more divisive, if you look at my last MH video you can tell i sure as hell was not a fan of it, but it still sold like hot potatoes. And do keep in mind even if Rise was "bad" in MH terms, it would still be a better game than most other games out in the gaming sphere.
While MH Rise dislike is fine, calling it the doom of the franchise would be nothing short of disingenious. @@lid7218
@@ItsHawx although i'm hoping what you're saying is true, but we can't always just stay in the past, mh franchise is great, but if in the future there is still no improvements whatsoever, people will slowly start to lose interest. What you said is true dude, but here's the thing, it's like eating good food, the devs always give us the improved version of their food and then they give us the peak of that dish which is mhworld, and then later on when the fanbase are hoping for something better than mhworld, mhrise didn't live up to that, although mhrise is still delicious but there's some sort of lacking aspect into it that makes it taste bland, hence the fanbase just sticks to mhworld, but it can't always be like that, later on people will get tired of eating the same dish everyday, until they altogether just quit eating that food, that's what i think will happen if the devs didn't make mhwilds superior than mhworld and rise or any of their previous games. Staying in the past is good and all, but it will only cause stagnation, hence, the reason why all aspects in this world need to move forward for it to have a great future, whether it's a game or not, everything must always walk forward.
(Sorry for using food as an example, English is my first language.)
Yea agreed, but I think you worry a bit too much.
The mainline games have always been more grounded. MH Wilds seems to be going more in the direction of World, at least from what we have seen.
I see you all hyping up world, but the game does not hold up at all. At least not on console. It has horrible load times and the combat is slow and basic.
All the running on foot too is soooo boring. The old games were fine on foot cause the zones were small.
Also all the clicking on the marks. Did we really need that many of them?
I think the game doesn't hold up at all cause of those. The claw is not super popular either. It will be even worse once the graphics become outdated.
I honestly don't need anything carried over from world myself. I do want the switch skills from rise though. The mount too, but that is already confirmed. Oh... the parkour too.
So wrong
@@sour93 Yes, you are.
