I love that Fendt put that Horse on the Steeringwheel. It reminds at the first tractor of fendt that is called diesel horse. There is a huge history at that company!

BTW, the "throttle" on the Fendt is actually the multi-function joystick which controls the transmission and other function buttons. The rotary switch with the orange tab closer to you on the control arm is the throttle. It also looks like it is not a front 3pt hitch but just the front weight bracket.

I really appreciate they way you explain things ... even someone like me has been generally able to follow your day-to-day activities. I never really appreciated the technical complexities farmers must master to produce our food supply.
As far as the tractors go, from an uneducated point of view, the Fendt gets my vote for awesome appearance ... from the front it is intimidating.
Not sure many consider this, but all functionality equal, I might consider where they are made, i.e., where are the jobs for the people that make them.
Based on the comments, you seem to have a global following, so I hope I haven't offended anyone with that consideration.

Fendt are more superior and well thought out tractors, that's the german engineering for you. But it also reflects in the price !! Great informative content as usual 👌 keep up the good work n stay safe 🤗

Actually, not even close. John Deere was the brand wich sold more tractors in Europe the past year, and guess what?Fendt is not the second but the third brand.
Might be superior for you, but that's just your opinion, I personally think John Deere is a better brand and produces better tractors in general.
Also, funny how you said that about the price since JD is as expensive at equal equipment (not that I like that), at least in my country.

I finally got to watch the rest of this video. You compared tire size, that's not a great way to do it because of differences in sidewalls and rim size. It looks to me, that the Fendt has larger rims than the Deere...larger rims mean more contact surface area = more traction. I have a Gen6 942 which is the same 2021 model size and class as your 939, so we may have the same tire combo because its a standard size. My rims are 38" on the front and 50" on the rear. One of the big features of Fendt is how the hydraulics have a separate tank/system so if you ever connect to an implement with old nasty oil, it won't cycle through your engine like it would on a Deere. Laura you did a fantastic job explaining the cab and hydraulics on the Fendt...it's the best I've seen anywhere online!

    • @jimmoodie4649
      @jimmoodie4649 2 роки тому

Hydraulic oil doesn’t go through the engine on a Deere or any other tractor.
Transmission is used by most tractors separate hydraulic oil tank is used on many makes of machine including self propelled harvesting machinery.
One disadvantage is when fire gets near plastic tanks full of flammable oil tends to make history of your tractor combine etc.

aye our 9000 series Deere was about the Same vintage had around 12000 hrs and had injector seats replaced other than that no problems it had a plastic hydraulic tank under the hood just in front of the cab and a sight gauge by the cab door. Dual 600/65 42 and full weight kit 13.5 tons with liquid in inners. That thing had traction that 900 Fendt would be towed backwards easily
We had four valve controls in the armrest.
1 for folding out 50 ft Seedmaster
2 for constant pressure inground individual leg depth control 60 of them and lift out
3 for the fan on seed
4 for fertilizer fan left fan on at headland especially on canola and flax timers need to allow time for seed to get through pipes before lifting out or a lot of seed can get wasted same for dropping in 4 round to give nice drop in especially on angles as satellite needed to be in line to time properly on 5 section control saved a fortune on seed and fertilizer enough to,pay for itself. Needed to run 1450 rpm minimum to keep it all sweet at max torque around there anyway only burnt fuel open up faster we change up at 1550 and down at 1450 three quarter a day average target with two drivers filled up after dark and around 2 pm driver change after 4 hours tried to get 14/16 hrs seeding daily
Electric speed control on both seed and fertilizer rate
We usually fitted a larger alternator to ensure the battery were fully charged as Canada can get cold a most Canadian broad acre farms are over 3500 acres and several around here over 30000 NH and Case dominate.
The local big operator runs 7 seeding out fits 80 ft each
Up to 14 combines lease 7 owns 2 and get US Contractor if behind
Last Fendt I drove was a 800 series vario with 50 kph and cruise control could do 50k at 1200 rpm air brakes but UK style hydraulic trailer brakes 18 tonne end dump grain trailer.

@@jimmoodie4649 I just realized I said engine in my original post when I meant hydraulic system. I don’t know why I typed engine *scratches head*. I’ve not had any issues with the 942, it’s been very solid with the my TerraDisc and Maschio 20’ tiller. In terms of torque I was very disappointed in the 1050 which I traded for the newly available MT1167 and I’ve been disappointed with it too. It struggles to pull my Degelman ProTill and drill, the larger Fendt’s just can’t compete with Deere torque to wheels/tracks on 8000 series up. As for my hay tractors which are mostly Fendt 700’s, they destroy Deere 6000 series anyway of the week.

Yes degelman pro till is hard to pull made here in Regina even the 700 hp NH struggle with those things
Horsch is more popular here Simba in the UK Vaderstad is hard to beat the original root slicer.
It’s all soil dependent in England on limestone brash tines must be avoided or your land looks like a beach.
Sciling discers tend to push smaller stones down then we used to seed wheat 3/4” deep in 4” rows getting ground cover and keeping moisture in and light of the ground.reliable rain in spring make lower scale but yields in different league 4 ton/acre is par that a load of US small bushels. I’ve. Been in Canada 20 years now
Do find it amusing that guys seem to think 8000 and 8000R DEERE are US made the wheel and CAB.
FENDT CRAWLER is a US AGCO and there is a Deere factory for 8000/9000 in RUSSIA as well as Brazil. Fendt CNH and AGCO in Germany Fendt in Ukraine, well was and the the US Massey and FENDT PRETTY MUCH the same but less leather and screens in the Massey but given they have the same motors Massey probably the economic buy. although. Some Massey use CNH engines ie Cummins made in GERMANY IN IVECO factory.
Most CNH FIXED have Germany CNH IVECO fiat engines or Dagenham England IVECO NH/ FIAT engines

The fendt has just like the john deere enough power to do the work. The main thing to make a brand choice is what is the close by dealer. And heck by far important the service of your local dealer. So i am.a dutch fendt raised farmer
But it has to be your choice what you like price wise and dealer choice. All are great. It is just the way a farmer makes a financial choice and checks of don't and pro .
But it is inside when it is dark out side very nice to see all the collors light up. Just like my little co pilot said. The modern fendt are like a space ship. So buckel up and get ready to .............

It is really neat feutre for example if u are running baller or wrapper. I used too have flap hydraulic hook up to this, so if smt went wrong and afer inspection i wuld need to ejct bale, i culd just open flap from rear buttons, turn off the pto, do repair, and close flap again. Altho i do recomend turning tractor off just in case if u have to reach deep inside machnery.

On the hydraulic levers of new fendt can the flow be proportionally controlled by just barely touching the lever? I was told that if you just touch the lever it activates the timed detent. Deere you have to move it quite a ways until there’s the click and that will activate your time. Until the click, the lever is proportional if you want to feather an implement a tad. Do you have to shut off the timer on the fendt in order to do this? I haven’t ran a fendt and maybe the person didn’t know anything.

I've been a Fendt farm now for 5 years and I wouldn't go back to Deere again but that's my choice, the thing I like about the Fendt are the controls at the back where as you need to get back in the cab on a JD to operate the hydraulic spools where as you can do it from the button on the back of the Fendt same as the pto and 3 point linkage, as you say everything being colour coded I find that so much easier as well.
We do a lot of night work and the lighting on the Fendt superb its like working in daylight, the only downfall of the new 900 range is they use the Deutz engine and I find they seem to lack power and ours an several other farmers I've spoken to all say they use to use a lot of oil where the MAN engine thats in most the other ranges give ample power for ever situation you can come across. Another good feature they have is the pull into the turn with the front wheels giving a lot tighter turning circle, it will be interesting to see what both you and your dad think of the Fendt after you've demoed it.

Out of the newest models only I could obly compare the JD 8R series with some of the fendt 900 and 1000 lineup.
I worked at a contract company (is that the right word?) and those were the machines I got to drive.
The Fendts pretty much win every single category from comfort to ease of use and service, but I'd guess that the JD pull slightly harder at the same HP.
That's most likely the tradeoff of the Fendts Vario IVT - which comes with the comfort and speed on the other hand.
But the difference is so small that I wouldn't bet money that they do actually pull harder. It's just a feeling.
From what I heard about Case I'd assume it's the same for them. They pull slightly harder but they are outclassed at everything else.
If the money is right, I'd personally always go for the Fendt.
I mean... That smooth gearbox at 60kmh on the road in a cab where you don't even notice potholes in while having better visibility than in the jds and everything being so intuitive... Can't beat that imo.

@@stevenlang9849 Yeah you are completely right about the Fendt being a bit less 'pully'', my cousin also worked a lot on Fendts and if he had to choose between a 8R and a 900 series Fendt he would always choose the Fendt.
However with smaller tractors, like the 6R and the 700 series (which i also got to drive btw) he prefers the JD, or maybe other brands like Steyr or Claas, since smaller Fendts are a bit overpriced here in Italy where I live.
Fendts are extremely hi-tech and modern, and I personally love that, especially the new 700 series with that super cool digital instrument panel.

thats true. the old fendt variotronic cab design (from 2012) is roughly the same as new john deeres atm.
new FendtOne is totally different tho, and offers some nice features, tho it seems kinda complicated, but at least it looks much more modern then variotronic

This is why the right to repair is such a big deal these days. You pretty much have to be a factory technician with a laptop to diagnose most issues with modern tractors. However, if you want all the help these tractors give in terms of auto-steer, on-the-fly automatic adjustments, and implement integration, the tractor has to have a pretty big brain.
