My wife and I lived/worked in Germany for 4+ years. Some of the best years of our life. Germany is a beautiful country and we really liked the people and their wines. We had wonderful German landlords. We lived near Kaiserslautern. Glad to you got to visit. They build everything to last a long time.

Recognized Heidelberg as soon as you showed Grant walking up the ramp. Wife and I were there back in the 90s. Very cool place. Would have loved to see inside the Claas factory, but I get it. German engineering and attention to detail is hard to beat. We can all learn from it.
As a 25+ year automotive technician, I 100% disagree with your statement. German cars are so excessively over engineered that they're dumpsters. Keep it simple.
@Ieonard learn spelling, then try to sound smart 👍 Evolution of development 🤔🤔 I'm guessing that you're trying to validate the lack of quality in German automobiles. Everything from Mercedes not having a reliable vehicle since the 70's, to Audi ..... well .... they've never made anything good. Lamborghini cars ignite themselves into flames, while barely running long enough to accomplish that. I guess I fail to acknowledge which German automobile from modern times you're referring to here. Because in the time that I've been a technician, I've yet to come across one example of "quality"
Glad You Had A Great Time !! Thank You! For Making it Possible For Us All To Veiw Some Of Your Experience!! L.G. Farms 🚜 Keep Smiling On!! 😀👍👊❤ Keep Smiling On!!
I'm from Austria, farming here is again different from Germany, at least in the Alps. There are way smaller Tractors, and it's all very hilly and mountainous terrain. I think you would really enjoy it here. There is also something called "Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof" or holidays on a farm where you can spend your holiday on a farm, and you can often watch them work.
Love, love, love Germany. Was stationed there for a few years while in the Air Force. I was actually semi near Stuttgart in a town named Zweibrucken. Really had a great experience while there. Glad you guys had fun. Such a beautiful place.
Schade, bin großer Fan von Laura Farms seit ihrer College Zeit schon.... hätte gerne die beiden getroffen in Niedersachsen 😅 vllt kommen die beiden ja noch einmal wieder her😊.

Germans coming to Nebraska are often surprised by the numerous German names in the phone book. Lots of German cemeteries where our Omas and Opas are buried.

I'm happy that you get to see and enjoy my homeland, Germany. I grew up there for 30 years and then moved to Boston in 1988, where I grew roots, started a family and call America my home now. It warms my heart to see how you treat each other - that is just so beautiful. I love how Grant lets you ride shotgun and holds the door for you, and how he lets you play with all the cool "toys" when I'm sure he was just itching to jump in the driver seat himself. You are a great couple. Enjoy the rest of the trip and have a safe journey home.

I don’t think I’ve seen Laura smile so much. She’s gonna need a face massage when she gets home. Fendt has some awesome equipment. Do I sense a switch coming to Laura Farms? 😉
I used to run and work a 3 cylinder air cooled Duetz 4 WD tractor brand new with head lights, brake lights turn signals, etc.. on our golf course/85 head of Angus cattle farm, which is a "Tonka toy" compared to what you have. This tractor is manufactured in West Germany. Germany is known for their pride in workmanship in machinery and equipment,as well as their architecture. It impresses me to no end! I spent 6 weeks in Germany. My wife and I along with our 10 month old daughter drove down beside the Reign River. We saw castles that had been used during WWII. The autobahn was a real experience. All the time we were there, we wondered about the history of the area.
This video has only been up for 46 minutes and you already have 1,200 likes. That's 26 a minute and almost 1 every 2 seconds. Unbelievable. You two are really something. Also, I have to pay you Laura, but really both of you, a major compliment. I was never attracted to farming because I always thought it was boring, mind numbing drudgery but you make it look so interesting and like so much fun (in addition to the hard work) that I now really want to learn more about it, especially to learn how to drive a combine. If all the farmers I've met were as intriguing as you two, I'm sure I'd have formed an entirely different impression. You are excellent ambassadors for the business. Well done !!!
I used to build the grain tanks on the Claas (caterpillar colored) combines here in Lincoln before they went green/white. Good to see where they are going with the tech.
Great video guys. It so fun to see how you two take such delight in farm machinery. Huge smiles. Plus it’s so clear you two are a team and that you allow each other to take the lead with your individual strengths. Love your content.
Nice to see you at Claas. I have the privilege of testing their eqpt under severe weather conditions and drove a few for a bit as well. To me the tractors are quite intuitive to drive, but I can imagine that if you're used to different systems, this might interfere with that. Claas has been making efforts to get into the US market and they are rightfully succeeding. And their new upcoming models are pretty cool to look at as well. I liked the old look but the new look is just awesome. Europe made some changes regarding the consumption or rather generation of CO2 and NOx. That is why all diesel powered vehicles here are heavily adapted for low consumption. The short wheelbases help with cornering. In Europe we typically use smaller eqpt on smaller fields and a small turning radius helps with that. For sileaging you will often see more JD's as they are heavier and compact faster. The tidyness in factories is actually a japanese influence. "Deutsche grundlichkeit" is a fact, but the japanese quality systems came up with all that tidyness. I might be wrong but I presume your talking aboutlight coloured floors? I visited another factory (belgian but german based) and it is indeed astonishing to see how in a metal working area, the floors are crisp, no waste to be found anywhere. All metal shavings were moved away in subterrain transport sytems. Jawdropping when you see that the first time.
I've been to Germany only a few times, but I think it's similar to other parts of Europe and it was interesting to watch how much you were surprised by things, tat seems pretty normal for me. Now you know, how is to to watch your channel for someone from Europe :) (Also I didn't noticed, that your farming equipment is not registered) Great video, as always and greetings from Poland!
You guys where just around the corner from me and didn't come to vist... Bye the way I actually deliver the adhesives for all tractors and combines made in europe. So if you drive any european tractor/combine be it Fendt, Claas, Valtra, John Deere (built 20km from me) or even Ropa Harevesters, I was involved ;-) Hope you guys enjoyed your stay here and please come visit again soon!
Germany (and the Netherlands in parts) are the origin of your Amish people. Just a fun fact. Nice to see you guys having fun. Indeed the look on Laura's face when she saw the cutterhead fold, priceless... Also the "still so in love" gaze she threw Grant while walking near the horses, beautiful. You guys were made for eachother... Enjoy the rest of Germany, a wonderful country with lots of differences and culture. Keep the travel updates coming in... I'm eagerly awaiting the next episode... Save travels and greetings from the Netherlands... (I would invite you guys over, if it is not too far from Frankfurt? I guess thats where you landed...)
Grant's surprise at Mercedes taxis. In the US, Mercedes are marketed as high-end luxury cars. In Germany, Mercedes is just a regular brand of car like the Ford and Chevy in the US. Only the most expensive models are considered luxury vehicles.
Actually what's happened is that Mercedes has bought all the politicians and they lobbied to have pretty much every regular priced automobile taken off the market. In fact just keeping a car on the road is super expensive. Modern German TUV inspection was specifically designed to keep the middle and lower classes from being able to afford their own automobiles. A certain party in America is doing the same thing.
@@mikect500 what? There are plenty of low and regular priced cars on the market. And I rather pay for TÜV and know that every car on the road is somewhat safe, instead of unnecessarily risking my life because some people think that they don't need to replace their brakes or think that a complete rusted frame is no problem.
@@Jehty_ there aren't affordable cars and on top of that the vat and insurance and fuel prices are all done to keep regular people out of personal automobiles and onto government controlled mass transit. Only a rich elitist would be in agreement with the EU TUV inspection. You like it not because of unsafe vehicles you like it because it is another nail in the coffin of low and middle class people having driving privileges.
@@mikect500 Paid EUR 83.50 (USD 90.60) for the TÜV main vehicle inspection last year. Due every 2nd year. If the fuel tank is empty and fill up I pay the same. And if you buy a cheap used car a freshly passed main vehicle inspection gives at least some guarantee that the car will last for some time.
@@martinstock did I say that it was impossible? I was making the point that the German government is, on purpose, making it very expensive to have a private vehicle in that country. I was stationed in West Germany and then again after reunification and saw the difference. I watch the European car enthusiasts on utube. The eu is trying very hard to keep only rich elites such as yourself in their own personally owed vehicles. The cost of inspection isn't really the issue. The issue is that pretty much anything other than a perfect car will pass. That gets expensive
I was at the German Airport and it was so clean. After leaving Chicago I was so impressive with the clean & safe it was. I knew a guy that toured that plant and he said the built every part in house. I noticed that all the workers wear cool coverall or notched clothes.
Hello Laura..Fantastic factory isn't it? I was lucky enough to have a factory tour a few years ago. I was also lucky enough to visit the tractor factory in France. I found it mesmerising to see the cranes lifting all the parts into place and seeing how quickly a combine is actually transformed from nothing to something in a few hours. Amazing 👏 We use CLAAS Tractors and Combines on our farms in the UK. Claas hospitality is 2nd to none.😊
SO glad you got to visit Germany! We lived there for over 15 years, mostly in little farm villages where we got to see how they farm up close. You are right, farmers are the same all over. Have fun! Tschuess!
Spent 3 years in Germany in the Military, wayy back in 1975. What a beautiful country. MY DUTY STATION WAS 50K north of Frankfurt, little village of Kirch Goens. Being Infantry - we moved around "a lot", so I got to see the Black Forest, Munich.. In the small towns, the women hung bedding out the windows to air out during the day. They also came out of their rock homes and swept the cobblestone street in front of their home -every street was done daily. Grant & Laura - Y'all have fun. Don't know if you guys drink "bier" but you are in the Country that has THE BEST in my opinion. Just sayin '

If all the farmers I've met were as intriguing as you two, I'm sure I'd have formed an entirely different impression. You are excellent ambassadors for the business. Well done !!!
I take it you flunked math in school. Do you know what "K" is after a number? I'll help you out. It's THOUSAND!
I believe that was 1.2K which is 1,200. Still an impressive number.
@@flick22601 Thanks. See below.
@@skutahuniai4830 Didn't flunk math but I was in too much of a hurry when I wrote that. Thanks for pointing it out and I stand corrected. See above.
@@johnclement4158 You are not going to convince me that you didn't flunk math. You are wrong AGAIN! It is 26 per minute. .434 per second. Dude!!!!
Thanks for the tour
I used to build the grain tanks on the Claas (caterpillar colored) combines here in Lincoln before they went green/white. Good to see where they are going with the tech.
Welcome to Germany Laura and Grant ❤🤗🙏👍🙋♂️
Great you had a good time here in Germany! :)
I'm farmer from France, i hope that one day you'll can visiting m'y country. And Germany is beautiful.
Thanks for your vidéo.
Glad you liked Germany and please feel free to come visit again. There’s still plenty to see
I hope you all make it back safe.
I own a house there in Germany, Bad Kreuznach Planig, Romerdorf Street. Best Gasthaus is Willies in Planig. Best Pizza and Snitzel in the Country.
Yes Europe is old! My daughter did some post grad studies at Charles University Prague, that was founded in 1348!
If you are still in Germany you have to visit NEXAT! 🤩
I laughed so hard at that dainty sneeze and then her apology!!
Gesundheit! 😉
Regard from Germany ! I like to follow your channel! Nice to hear you like our country ! I wish you a safe trip back to the States
Such an awesome adventure for you guys! Any plans to get a CLAAS unit on your farm anytime soon? Those are some impressive machines for sure!
It looks like it puts John Deere to shame!
@@sl66ggehrubt nowadays which brand doesn’t? 80’s and 90’s Deere were SO ahead of it’s time. Today it’s Fendt and Claas
@@xSCHEF No way. Maby the american made John Deere. But not the 6R series
I was at the German Airport and it was so clean. After leaving Chicago I was so impressive with the clean & safe it was. I knew a guy that toured that plant and he said the built every part in house. I noticed that all the workers wear cool coverall or notched clothes.
Bless you 2:33
Hello Laura..Fantastic factory isn't it? I was lucky enough to have a factory tour a few years ago. I was also lucky enough to visit the tractor factory in France. I found it mesmerising to see the cranes lifting all the parts into place and seeing how quickly a combine is actually transformed from nothing to something in a few hours. Amazing 👏 We use CLAAS Tractors and Combines on our farms in the UK. Claas hospitality is 2nd to none.😊
At the time of WWII about 60% of Americans had German ancestry.
Thanks for taking us along, glad you enjoyed your trip the Europe.
Laura: it feels so good not to be breathing airport air anymore
Me: I wanna go to an airport, be a pilot and smell burned kerosine all day long
SO glad you got to visit Germany! We lived there for over 15 years, mostly in little farm villages where we got to see how they farm up close. You are right, farmers are the same all over. Have fun! Tschuess!
❤ hope you had a nice stay in Europe. Greetings from Austria
The Claas are so nice looking. Saw one of their harvesters down in Rock Hill, SC the other day, which is not common!
I need to visit Germany someday. I still have some relation there that lives south of Stuttgart about a half hour so you were pretty close. My great grandfather came over from Germany in 1923. So 100 years ago this year.
I really enjoyed watching young Americans overseas being so respectful. I was struck by that in a very nice way. Take care you two!
i work at a claas dealer here in Alberta Canada, we actually got a visit from Katrina Claas the owner herself. She is a very nice person and down to earth. Glad you guys had a good visit!!
Welcome to Europe! have fun
Jo i am from Germany and i can say, the German Farming vehicels are the Best.
Loved my three years in Germany my family and I toured a lot of places and every were we went the people were all so friendly.
