From interviews that I've read...they formed up in 1987. Shinji Wajima the guitarist and Kenichi Suzuki the bassist knew each other since Jr. High. They went through a couple of drummers until Nobu Nakajima joined in 2004 and has been with them ever since. They had some initial success after being on a TV show in 1989. This was the era of X-Japan and metal was doing relatively well in Japan at that time. Their fame faded, as did metal in general a few years later. They worked regular jobs to make ends meet, but kept recording and touring. In 2013, they were invited to play Ozzfest in Tokyo, and their star rose again. Now they were full time musicians, able to quit their other jobs. In 2019 they released their biggest album to date, and their single, Heartless Scat.
As i watch this video from Ningen Isu and i cant help to think about the people that were there and it looks like everyone is having a great time. This is one of many tunes by these guys that just gets better the more you play it.

Don't be afraid to do the live version of Namahage. The 25th anniversary tour finale concert 2014 has an awesome version of this. A search with [ Ningen Isu Namahage 25th anniversary ] should come up with it.

Ningen Isu goes from prog rock to Heavy Metal to the best Doom Metal. Musically, they have elements of Black Sabbath, Dio, Mastodon, Led Zeppelin, Rush.
The Godfather of Japanese metal. Isu and Kanami Tono, lead guitarist for Band-Maid have appeared on Japanese TV together in a mock battle of the lead guitars all done in fun. Isu won one round and Kanami the other.

The base player also plays his face amazingly.
Wajima sometimes plays guitar like Tsugaru-Shamisen, the traditional music instrument of his native place.
