He was literally prettier than Juliet. They needed to get Sarah Michelle Geller as Juliet to off-set his prettiness in this film. Kate Winslet wasn't having it in Titanic. Her looks finally rivaled his.
I don't think romantic love is real or special, and I think romantic relationships are a bad thing. I think humans should just stop being in romantic relationships. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it. Romance seems like an ugly thing. Many mothers and fathers won't allow their daughters to date when they are in high school or still living with them. It does seem that nearly all parents are hoping that their daughters never date or get married and remain single for their whole life due to the dangers and risks of romantic relationships. The overprotective parent thing is proof that romantic relationships are a bad thing, and that this world would be a much better place without them. If someday that the human race ditches the concept of romance and romantic relationships, and got rid of stuff like dating and marriage, mothers and fathers would be happy about it since they wouldn't ever have to worry about their daughters ever dating if that ever happened. People (especially women) should avoid being in a romantic relationship and be single for life since romantic relationships are dangerous.
Most parents never want their daughter to be in a romantic relationship. Most parents don't ever their daughter to have a boyfriend/husband. Many parents won't allow their teenage daughters to date. Many parents also will have their teenage daughter go to an all-girls school so that it will prevent them from dating boys.
She still looks good and back then she was really cute. for someone who was only 16-17 back then she was definitely matured and really was an adult in a body of a teenager.
it's weird..I never though Leonardo Di Caprio was really cute until I saw this movie with this particular scene, this is when I realized "wow he's handsome" lol

there is such beautiful symbolism in this film. for example the montagues are yellow and the caplulets are blue, as shown in the opening fight scene. but here some fish are blue, some are yellow and some are both, showing the two sides and the crossover between. ❤️
Hey! Awesome observation! I know I'm replying to your comment from five months ago but I just wanted to add another beautiful symbol that an English Teacher of mine once pointed out in this film: Water. Whenever Romeo and Juliet are allowed to be alone together, there is typically water present. Like how they see each other through the fish tank when they first meet, then they fall into the pool together later on that night. I'm pretty sure when their final scene is foreshadowed it is done with a filter giving the scene a watery feel again. As you say, there are some beautiful symbols in this film!
Fun fact! Leo was actually staring at the camera during his parts of the scene so it just shows how good he is at creating the emotions of being captivated by Juliet :)
@@shadymcnasty5920 I meant that Juliet wasn’t even by the camera or anything during his parts of the scene so he had to create the emotion with just a lens staring back at him
It's literally how all such scenes are filmed. The actor plays to the camera, not the other actor. Claire Danes was doing the same in the closeups where she's seeing him for the first time. I actually find her more convincing.
No matter how much time passes, Leonardo at this age will always remain one of the most beautiful human beings who ever lived. I am not saying he is ugly now. On the contrary, I think he is still a handsome man, both outside and inside. But it cannot be denied that during his prime, in his early 20s, he was just something else. Look at his angelic face. Just WOW.
So dreamyyyy wtf... Has there ever been a more gorgeous face captured on film? This movie has immortalized, truly, a historic moment in the history of Hollywood. Years/decades/eons from now, film buffs will watch this movie and fall in love with Leonardo’s face. This moment is too perfect.
0:53-0:56 that scene with the piano in the background is honestly amazing. The eye contact, how the piano changes chords when she looks straight at him, the colour & gleam of her eyes & the blue fish in the background. Honestly one of my favourite scenes it’s so magical. Like the eye contact is so powerful, from Claire looking down to looking straight into his eyes & they both lock eye contact whilst the piano changes into a lower note. & that sound is like the stamp used to seal the whole emotion in this scene. That feeling u get when u see a good looking stranger & u avoid eye contact with each other until that one moment u lock eyes with them for a few seconds & in only those few seconds the butterflies & emotional rush is all happening all at once & then BOOM eye contact ends but those few seconds mentally lasted for hours & have such an impact on ur emotion. Lol anyways I’m waffling see ya.

One of the greatest and most memorable scenes in cinema history. The set, the lighting, the actors, the music. A perfectly blend modernizing a classic tale for another generation.
Out of all the adaptations I’ve seen of Romeo and Juliet, _this_ is the best first meeting. No words exchanged or said in reflection; _everything_ is told through their eyes, facial expressions, and body language. You don’t need to be told that it’s love at first sight; you can SEE it onscreen. Fantastic job from both Leo and Claire.
This is really love at first sight! They looked at each other for a brief minute, and they already wanted to spend the rest of eternity together. This story is timeless and I love this version with Jack Dawson and young Carrie Mathison.
There will never be a time when I'm not moved by this classic story. These young actors did such a great job in their respective roles. I'm still blown away so many years later. And the soundtrack brings me to tears even now. 💜

I hate to admit it but the first time I saw this scene. I just loved it music really does play a big part very nice first meeting. Especially the way they stare at each other. 🌟
@@amykanilia8860 It really does but what does it more for me is the facial expressions they have. No words spoken yet you can tell what they're saying to each other.
It's surreal watching this. Almost unreal how beautiful they both are. Hollywood doesn't value beauty anymore. This and Titanic would be some of the last films where beauty is respected by Hollywood.
I used to blast this song and lock myself in my closet while crying face down on the floor with pink lighting . Very melodramatic. “THE ACHINGGGGGGGG” 😂💀
I love how leos eyes follow the small fish to then meet eyes with Claire Danes. Both gorgeous in this scene and with the elegant background song, this to me is considered a masterpiece of a scene. Her eyes, lips and smile, as well as leos as they meet, make this so great. I have watched this like 10 times today and hope to find another beutiful scene just like it. Great acting as well as directing.💯👌🏼
Romeo and Juliet had a weird vibe going on. I think its the eclectic and vibrant juxtaposition of elements of modern and antiquated culture . The whole movie had a dreamy effect going on.
This came out in 96 when I was 12. The girls in my school were SO excited for this. My sister has the soundtrack CD, still to this day, and so many of the songs on it were iconic for the 90's. It's kind of wild to see this movie appreciated more now than back then.
One of the greatest films of all time the acting is incredible from both of them you can actually see the glint and gleam in there eyes of love at first site.
NO ONE can replace Leo. Honestly I can't think of anybody recently who has the same charm, charisma, & beautiful face he does. He is the ultimate crush. Plus a FANTASTIC actor to boot! I think I'm gonna binge watch Leo movies now

But if Leonardo De Caprio will marry me, he will never die, I PROMISE!
R and J too
That’s sickness
Departed Billy dies
Where did you watch this film I can't find it and I don't want other versions I want this one
@@isidorasavic5164 i watched it on 123movies completely safe
Leonardo DiCaprio always been fine,ASF!💯💯💯
alexandria edwards you have great taste!
Romeo and Juliet is my favourite movie of all time Specially with Leonardo Di Caprio in it
I hate to admit it but the first time I saw this scene. I just loved it music really does play a big part very nice first meeting. Especially the way they stare at each other. 🌟
When I first watched this film, this scene completely blew me away.
@@annoyingguy9939 that's how I felt watching this scene the first time. The music really carries this moment.
@@amykanilia8860 It really does but what does it more for me is the facial expressions they have. No words spoken yet you can tell what they're saying to each other.
@S R It certainly is. I need to rewatch this film.
0:52 damn that eyebrow raise has me weakk
animalxx love LITERALLY MY FAVORITE PART OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE
OK
I was about to say the same thing 😂❤❤
I liked the fact they casted Claire Danes as Juliet. She has this sort of purity vibe during the film.
Very wise decision to portray her without so much as a dot of makeup as well - unless it was only because Mercutio had grabbed it all...
I never realised Paul Rudd was there LMAO
I never knew who Paul Rudd was.
@@melchorvincentagot1002 he was Paris
Claire Danes is the cutest ever in this movie. I was so in love with her as a 11 year old when I first watched this.
Me too
It's surreal watching this.
“THE ACHINGGGGGGGG” 😂💀
this is one of the most romantic scene I saw in a movie...
I was 17 and in love when I first saw this scene I felt it so deeply my heart was bursting with uncried tears🙌🏻❣️
Great acting as well as directing.💯👌🏼
this feeling ...I don't know how to describe. Baz Luhrmann Movies are giving me such a great feeling....
Are you bent
Wendla Bergmann *Are you choking, ARE YOU CHOKING?*
he's one of my favorite directors. such a unique style.
Loved “Australia”
Romeo and Juliet had a weird vibe going on. I think its the eclectic and vibrant juxtaposition of elements of modern and antiquated culture . The whole movie had a dreamy effect going on.
I am convinced Leo's face was personally carved out by the angels in heaven!! How else can a man look this beautiful!! ❤
This is one of the greatest scenes in cinema history as far as I’m concerned. Everything about it is incredible.
Did my heart love 'til now? Forswear its sight. For I never saw true beauty 'til this night.
Mark Luzon my fav all the time
When I heard this song in the summer I turned pretty I got so excited I had to come back to this scene
Me too 😭😭😭
Leo needs to make another romance film. He acts them out perfectly!
Yes it would be nice.
Leonardo is gorgeous AF in here 😍
IN EVERYWHERE
This came out in 96 when I was 12. The girls in my school were SO excited for this. My sister has the soundtrack CD, still to this day, and so many of the songs on it were iconic for the 90's. It's kind of wild to see this movie appreciated more now than back then.
November 1st,20 years ago,Romeo + Juliet was released ❤ my favourite movie of all time along with Titanic ❤
I'm doing this play for my exam and hoesntly...it's making my ovaries explode😩!
I know, I like to see Leonardo DiCaprio be hot then die too!
Most gorgeous scene in cinema history
One of the greatest films of all time the acting is incredible from both of them you can actually see the glint and gleam in there eyes of love at first site.
This scene never gets old ❤️
NO ONE can replace Leo. Honestly I can't think of anybody recently who has the same charm, charisma, & beautiful face he does. He is the ultimate crush. Plus a FANTASTIC actor to boot! I think I'm gonna binge watch Leo movies now
33, divorced, and all but given up on love but this scene still manages to give me butterflies.
Love comes when u least expect it. You’re still young. Surely it will find u again when ur ready and want it
i dont blame Leo! Claire is really pretty enough to let anyone fall in love with her
Can anyone tell me who's singing? The woman is GUT WRENCHING!!! 😍😍😍
thx thats what me i whant to know too:D
The singer's name is Des'ree and the song is called 'I'm kissing you'
This scene is iconic completely on its own merits. No Shakespeare dialogue at all.
I fell in love with Leo because of this film
I fell in love with him in the titanic
Young Leo is life!! 😍😍😍😍
