After his final warning, they finally kicked him out of the movie theater

I love how Leonardo DiCaprio breaks convention for romantic male leads in this film. He doesn’t come in suave, debonair, with a tuxedo, speaking seductively to attract the female lead and make her vulnerable to his charms, so he is the one in control. The man who does all that in this film turns out to be the villain. Instead, Leo is an everyman, casual, laid-back, friendly, and very emotionally vulnerable (especially in the gym scene), giving the female lead the encouragement she needs to blossom on her own, the freedom to choose him of her own accord, and allows her to be in control when she wants to be. And that kind of respect is actually far more attractive and appealing to a woman than a possessive, domineering man who won't listen to her or let her speak her mind. Brilliantly written.

That’s exactly why this movie worked so well too. At its core, this movie was very simple. Most movies nowadays try to do too much with weird stories and goofy CGI. Titanic kept it simple

Eventhough this was absolutely an awful tragedy, I think there have been much more terrible tragedy with so many more victims than these 2000 innocent passengers if you look at throughout history around the globe.
The wardrobe and costumes in this movie were outstanding. I hope they won an award for the clothes.

I was 12/13 when I first saw this movie. My first ever experience of a romantic movie. I cried the whole night because of Jack's death...I still remember that night and that feeling of realization of love.

There will never be another amazing and iconic movie like this ever again. I was 12 years old when this movie was released and the amazing worldwide reaction this movie got when it came out in 1997 was so overwhelming. Titanic will live on in our hearts forever

This movie is melodrama done the absolute right way. Timeless classic.
Melodrama is more a cartoony feeling. The events here is a genuine tragedy so it’s naturally very dramatic and scenes feel genuine and organic. After watching it just now it’s aged really well, lot of great details from direction, writing, acting.

So this scene tells me now exactly how jack was dying in the water protecting rose, when he described the cold in the water being hit by thousands of nives all of his body. So he was dying like that to save his love. He saved her twice from that cold water. Aww jack. I love u so much. I watchted this movie by myself 20 something years ago, trust me it gets better yr by yr it is just like wine. Leo looks just like a boy here.

Young DiCaprio quite simply possessed one of the most beautiful faces of any male I have ever seen. It's an extremely unique and memorable facial profile too, not the collection of generic model-like features that so many models have and which make no lasting impression on one's memory; he looks like a character from a fairy-tale brought-to-life. I cannot even begin to imagine what a day in the life of someone so handsome would look like, in terms of how other people would treat them.
There are a lot of beautiful men around. Cillian Murphy is another one.

This was the first Hollywood movie of my life...at the age of 6 and even today...I can't come out of that nostalgia...Rose❤️❤️
I just realized how this scene is a great analogy for the entire film: when Rose falls
over the side, Jack grabs her hand to stop her from falling but Rose needs to use her
own strength to help him pull her up so she can be saved. It's similar to the conversation they have later
after church where Jack tells her "only she can save herself." Jack provided Rose with the opportunity
for freedom but ultimately it was up to Rose to take it.
I really like Kate Winslet. She did a great acting in this movie. She has a sweet accent.

IT IS, but only when your words are backed with some kind of power. Jack's energy was the POWER OF LOVE that was naturally radiating through his eyes and streaming through his words.
Honestly, best way to keep someone from going off a ledge, literally AND figuratively, is to get and keep them talking. That's what he was doing, and mixed with the reverse psychology, this is masterful writing.

I'm from Wisconsin (albeit nowhere near Chippewa Falls LOL), and I really appreciate how it had obscure details described here. I feel very amazed that what started the connection between these two characters was the talk about cold water in Wisconsin. Usually, people bring up Wisconsin just to make fun of it.
Edit: Ok, actually, there's a big problem LOL - Lake Wissota is manmade, and it didn't exist until 5 years after the Titanic sank. At least they tried.
There’s also a deleted scene where Jack says he doesn’t like Dadaism art movement which didn’t exist until 1916. James Cameron made a few goofs unfortunately, that’s why having researchers is so important instead of doing everything by yourself.

I've just realized that this is Rose's first real smile in the film, when he makes that humorous comment about her name. We see her smiling, but it's always forced until then because that's what she's expected to do, like the scene where Cal orders her food without consulting her.
Was apparently common for husbands to order for their wives back then. Not everything shown in the love story reflects how things would have been seen back in 1912.
I love how the sound of the dangerous rotor blades and the water only starts playing when she is about to fall

“Thousand Knives”
This scene at the beginning of the movie is a foreshadowing of the end. Jack says, "Water that cold, like right down there, it hits you like a thousand knives stabbing you all over your body."
He knew from the very start that he was willing to give his life for Rose, even if it meant experiencing agonizing pain and suffering. Now that's sacrificial love, and it reminds me of Jesus, who literally took a “thousand knives” for us.
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters." (1 John 3:16)

Actually, This film was released when my mom was in class 10 and once she got herself into college days , everyone used to call her Kate Winslet. Probably par than her great acting skills , this could be a reason 😊🤧🤧
It’s so messed up thinking about how Jack died EXACTLY the miserable way that he was describing to Rose in order to persuade her into coming back into the boat safely. If these characters and their specific story was reality, then I bet this conversation would be on her mind for a very long time.
Sadly, I bet many of the Titanic survivors struggled with survivor’s guilt for a very long time, *especially* if they lost loved ones on the ship. I can’t imagine the wide range of emotions they must have felt all at once upon being rescued.

I remember when I was 8...I saw this in the theater. I didn't really want to but I was invited to go with my older brother and our 2 friends with their parents. My parents pushed me to go and I could not understand why (they had not yet seen it but they just new). I really thought this would be some crazy action movie I would not like...I just knew it was about a gigantic ship. Well then this scene came and I was like yeah this is going to be a good movie. I was hooked during this scene.
0:18 Smart move from Jack there. He could've have thrown the cigarette in the ocean from where he was but he used it to take a few steps and get closer to her without freaking her out and risking that she actually let go.
