The song that got me into the Foxhole.... Fun edm dance to lure you in with a touch of Japanese traditional music.... Then they drop you with a breakdown of a metal as fuck pig squeal nightmare.... Leave it to the Japanese to make a young girl in black and white singing in semi monotone, seem creepier and scarier than any Freddy movie...Babymetal was meant to introduce young Japanese girls into the metal genre, so their sound is a combination of Jpop and different styles of metal. They are the creaters of the Kawaii Metal genre. I read somewhere that Kobametal the creator of Babymetal, wanted the girls to have a more exploratory experience into metal, so that's why their early songs like iine, Doki Doki, and Gimme Chocolate has such a stronger Jpop feel, since that's what they were more used to and comfortable with... But if you listen to their songs as they progress, it becomes less and less poppy and have a stronger metal/rock music element, because the girls themselves are getting more comforable with the metal genre and it's different aspects. They credit watching Metallica perform, understand the performance side of metal.
Babymetal is the gateway drug to metal music.... Even if you don't like metal at first, after a few listen of their VERY wide range of metal fusion music, you will find something you'd like. ... Especially since this is my favorite BABYMETAL song of all time.
BABYMETAL began in Japan in 2010.
Their first concert in Germany was in Cologne on July 3rd, 2014.
That was their second show in Europe.
The first was in Paris on July 1st.
Those were both headlining shows, where they were the only group appearing.
A couple of days after that concert in Cologne, they had a ground breaking set at the Sonisphere UK 2014 festival, where they appeared along with bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Slayer.

It looks like cuttysark has explained all about 'Megitsune' and when it was recorded already.
BABYMETAL first formed in 2010 when Su-metal (lead singer) was 12, Yuimetal and Moametal were 11.
11 years in and they are internationally the most successful Japanese band of all time. There are bigger and better known bands in Japan of course, but they have broken all sorts of records outside of Japan and gained a world wide fan base.
Yui and Moa provide backing vocals, harmonies, lead chants and basically make sure the whole crowd ... not just the first 10 rows, I do mean the whole crowd right up to the back rows in the balconies at huge arenas, are joining in and being part of the show. Officially their role was described as "scream and dance", but it is key to what makes BABYMETAL unique and one of the absolute best live acts on the planet (and they have international awards proving that is not just my opinion).
Sadly Yui was taken ill towards the end of 2017, she missed the 2018 tour and eventually announced she would be leaving the band in October 2018. Through 2019 to 2021 Su and Moa, who chose to continue as a duo, were supported by 3 girls (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who took turns dancing, but not singing, in the third spot.
When they first started in 2010, and for the next two or three years they would sing and dance with the instrumentals pre-recorded on a backing track. When they started doing their own small shows guys in skeleton suits (known as Babybones) would mime the instruments.
When it was decided they would be separating from their parent group Sakura Gakuin to become an independent band in their own right in 2013 a little more budget was made available and a live band - the Kami Band, some of Japan's very best session musicians - was gradually phased in playing at a couple of festivals and the encores in a few shows from October 2012.
In March 2014 BABYMETAL released their first album and played two big shows at the Budokan in Tokyo and the Kami Band became their full time support for all live shows from then on. They all have their own bands and projects so there will be clashes of dates, so the Kami Band has had many members, but the hard core of about 6 has been constant. You will see these people in most videos - Mikio Fujioka (RIP Jan 2018), Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus and ISAO on guitars, BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
In 2019 for the lengthy US tour there were probably a lot of date clashes and visa issues, so for that and the 2020 UK and Europe tour the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) supported BABYMETAL.
They have about 50 songs now and they include songs in virtually every metal genre (power, speed, death, black, folk, prog, djent, thrash, nu-metal etc) but they will also mix many other musical styles and genres in with the metal (ska, reggae, Bollywood, Enka, Latino, EDM, rap, hip hop, Jpop and more) ... usually when you least expect it.

@@rah2287 I usually recommend Karate from Download 2016 over the MV. Rondo I recommend aside from the intro, is because it is such a more mature sounding song, with its changes and difference aspects.... Something very different from their other songs/solos in that album.

They are not minor talent in Japan . they belong to the biggest entertainment company in Japan and work for the company when they were a child as child stars (acting for TV. Movies. etc)
The three girls style (concept) is that Su-Metal (the lead singer of Babymetal) is accompanied by two angels. In fact , the two girls acted an angel in Japanese CM for Japanese biggest telephone company with Ichiro who was famous Major league baseball player .
Super reaction, ich kann aber bei Babymetal auch meist die Liveversionen empfehlen. Das Instrument das ihr gesehen habt nennt sich Shamisen. Das war aber nur für die japanische Atmosphäre im Video, ich glaube nicht dass das wirklich zum Einsatz kam. Jedenfalls gibt es bei Live Auftritten von Babymetal kein Shamisen. Die von dir gesehene Band auf dem Festival können sie wohl nicht gewesen sein, da sie ihre ersten Auftritte in Europa erst 2014 hatten. Die Band gibt es insgesamt "erst" seit 2010, damals waren Moa und Yui 11 und Su 12 Jahre alt.
Habe BABYMETAL selbst leider erst im Frühjahr 2019 entdeckt, durch reinen Zufall, ziemlich spät, aber immer noch rechtzeitig um sie vor der Corona-Pandemie noch mal live sehen zu können, damals in Köln 2020 (zu spät allerdings um Yui noch live zu erleben). Hätte nie gedacht, dass ich noch einmal Fan von irgendwas hätte werden können, aber Babymetal hatte dafür nur Sekunden gebraucht und ich war so geflasht von ihnen gewesen, dass ich seither ein absoluter Fan von ihnen bin. Sehr coole und sympathische Reaction. :-) Ich bekräftige die Empfehlungen bzgl. Live-Videos definitiv noch mal - die machen noch mehr Spaß. Mir zaubern ihre Konzertclips immer ein Lächeln auf die Lippen und vertreiben trübe Stimmung. Ein paar Tipps (hier z.T. auch schon von anderen genannt): Headbanger (Legend 1997 live), Catch Me If You Can, Road Of Resistance (Live in Japan), Akatsuki (Budokan).

Babymetal started in 2010 and had their first world tour in 2014. Summer 2014 is less than 8 years ago.

A few options for more recent live performances where you can hear Su’s more mature voice. BABYMETAL have a very wide range of styles. They all work together in the context of a concert. Even for a foreigner who speaks German it took me a moment to adjust. It's a pretty thick accent. Not that it's uncommon in Germany for people to have that, but it's not something I deal with regularly.
The funniest part is when they said: 5:15 "it's so cool even though they look so harmless [implying kawaii]." "yes, women shouldn't be underestimated [implying: you wouldn't expect them to do metal]. Also not young women." Then Su-metal is like: 5:25 🙂

Willkommen in Fuchsbau von Babymetal. Vom meinem High-School Deutsch verstehe ich dass dies das erste Mal ist, dass du BM horst. Ich hoffe dass du eine gute Zeit hast und mehr von ihren Songs horst. Ich habe gehort "Leidnnschaft" und das ist ein gutes Wort das man mit Babymetal in Verbindung bringen kann.
Dieses Video wurde Anfang 2013 gedreht, als Su-Metal 15 Jahre alt war und die beiden Tänzer und Backgroundsänger Moametal und Yuimetal 13 Jahre alt waren. Die Begleitband besteht aus Tänzern (nicht der Kami-Band) und mimt offensichtlich.
Wir beginnen mit einer sehr traditionellen japanischen Kulisse und Yui und Moa ziehen an Sus Obi (Schärpe), um sie von ihrem Kimono zu befreien, damit sie energisch tanzen kann. BM fordert also von Anfang an die Normen heraus. Megitsune (Füchsin) ist ein weiteres „Empowerment“-Lied von BM und untergräbt viele traditionelle japanische Einstellungen gegenüber Frauen. In Japan wird angenommen, dass der Fuchs ein cleverer Gestaltwandler ist, und die Texte vergleichen Frauen mit weiblichen Füchsen, da sie in verschiedenen Situationen verschiedene Dinge sein müssen und oft innerlich weinen, während sie draußen lächeln. Su, Moa und Yui tragen mit ihren Händen eine Maske und schminken sich, was zeigt, wie Frauen ihr wahres Gesicht verbergen müssen.
Die Breakdown-Musik ist ein klassisches Lied namens „Sakura Sakura“ (Kirschblüte Kirschblüte), aber Su singt „kitsune, kitsune“ (Fuchs, Fuchs). Welcome to the Babymetal foxhole. From my high-school German I understand that this is your first time hearing Babymetal, I hope that you have a good time and listen to more of their songs. I heard "passion" and that's a good word to describe Babymetal.
This video was shot in early 2013 when Su-metal was 15 and the two dancers and backing singers, Moametal and Yuimetal, were 13. The backing band are dancers (not The Kami band) and are obviously miming.
We start with a very traditional Japanese backdrop and Yui and Moa pull on Su's obi (sash) to release her from her kimono so she can dance energetically. So right from the start BM are challenging the norms. Megitsune (vixen) is another of BM's "empowerment" songs and it subverts many traditional Japanese attitudes to women. In Japan the fox is believed to be a clever shape shifter and the lyrics liken women to female foxes in the way they have to be different things in different situations and are often crying inside while they are smiling outside. Su, Moa and Yui mime wearing a mask with their hands and also putting on make up which shows how women have to hide their true faces.
The breakdown music is a classic song called "Sakura Sakura" (Cherry Blossom Cherry Blossom), but Su sings "kitsune, kitsune" (fox, fox). Also Megitsune was written at a time when BM were breaking away from their parent idol group, Sakura Gakuin, and the Fox God is BM's patron deity so it's speculated that singing "kitsune" is expressing their growing independence from Sakura Gakuin. You've also got to include the "super lady" concept of Sakura Gakuin which is hinted at in the lyrics, but there's a bit of tension there as BM are maybe down playing it a bit and emphasizing being true to yourself.
Su's expression of female strength reaches a peak when she shouts
"Otome wa nametara ikan zeyo" or "Maidens should not be underestimated".
There is a great performance where they sing this to an all female audience and when she shouts this the roof come off the place.
Just so you know, as I understood it:
1:12 they have heard one song of Babymetal before.
9:11 and they video they saw had over a 100 million views, aka that would be Gimme Choco MV.
Good reaction, I think... because I don't understand a word you said but I don't understand Japanese either... so that's not a barrier to enjoy a reaction video. And you seem to have enjoyed their music video as well.

In Japan ist Babymetal riesig und füllt problemlos Arenen mit mehreren zehntausend Zuschauern. Den Tokyo Dome haben sie mindestens zweimal mit 55.000 Zuschauern ausverkauft.

Schön mal wieder eine Reaction zu Babymetal auf einem deutschen Kanal zu sehen.
Vorschläge zu weiteren Songs von Babymetal wurden hier in den Kommentaren schon gemacht, deshalb enthalte ich mich diesbezüglich. Wenn Ihr Live Versionen nehmt und auf Compilations verzichtet, könnt Ihr eigentlich nichts falsch machen.
Seitdem ich 2018 zum ersten Mal Babymetal gehört habe (und sofort Fan geworden bin), hat sich für mich die Welt zur Musik aus Japan geöffnet.

Babymetal hat mir als altem Metalhead die Corona Zeit versüßt. Zu dieser Zeit waren siee tatsächlich noch sehr jung (Su Metal 15, Yui und Moa Metal 13). Das war einer der ersten Songs von Babymetal. Megitsune heißt "Füchsin" und ist ein Song für weibliches Enpowerment (schwieriges Thema in Japan).
Lustiger Side Fact zum Kommentar "Frauen sollte man nie unterschätzen", exakt das ist was Su sagt, als sie den Tanto (Dolch) aus ihrem Mikro zieht. Ist eine Referenz an einen populären Japanischen Film.
Grundsätzlich bevorzuge ich die Live Versionen, da kommt die Energie noch wesentlich besser rüber und zudem spielt eine unglaubliche Band mit, genannt Kami Band (Kami = Gott oder Spirit).
Würde mich freuen, wenn ihr noch mehr von Babymetal macht. Empfehlung zu Live Auftritten:
Headbanger Legend 1997 (1997 Geburtstag von Su Metal, damals Konzert an ihrem 16ten Geburtstag)
Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Gänsehaut pur, großartige Instrumentals)
ijime dame zettai live in UK (erster Auftritt auf einem Europäischen Festival und der internationale Durchbruch)
Death Legend 1997 (siehe oben, shocking und großartige performance)
Rondo of Nightmare mit Mischiefs of Gods Intro (Solo gesang von Su Metal incl. großartigem Into der Kami Band)
Weitere großartige Bands aus Japan:
Wagakki Band (Homura + Akatsuki no ito), mischt Rock mit klassischen Instumenten und Gesang
Maximum the Hormone (Alien oder Yoshu Fokushu, ggf auch "menkata cottelee"). eine Band die großen Einfluss auf heutige Japanische Metal Bands hat - immer unberechenbar und chaotisch
Ningen Isu (Heartless Scat), eine Band die es schon seit den 80ern gibt und eher klassischen Metal spielt
Instrumente: Shamisen (sieht aus wie ein Banjo), Taiko (klassische japanische Trommeln). Bei interesse daran Wagakki Band schauen, die spielen klasssische Japanische Instrumente.
Hoffe das war jetzt keine Überdosis 😁

Leadsängerin Suzuka Nakamoto wurde 1997 geboren, Moa Kikuchi und Yui Mizuni (letztere ist 2018 aus gesundheitlichen Gründen ausgeschieden und wird abwechselnd von verschiedenen Ersatzsängerinnen ersetzt, "Avengers" genannt) wurden 1999 geboren. Das hilft vielleicht bei der Einschätzung des Alters auf Musikvideos und hoffentlich folgenden Reaktionsvideos.
Man nennt das Genre, das Babymetal eigentlich begründet hat, Kawaii Metal: kawaii heißt auf Japanisch soviel wie süß, niedlich. Eben der genaue Kontrast.
Die Mädels haben mit ca. 8 Jahren angefangen, bei Darstellungswettbewerben in Japan teilzunehmen. Seitdem sind haben sie eine Unterhaltungsprofiausbildung durchgemacht.

Sehr geil, dass ihr auch über diese Band gestolpert seid. Absolut umwerfende Musiker. Sowohl die Kami-Band, als auch die Sängerinnen.
Um das Volle Potential von Babymetal genießen zu können, schaut euch am besten die Live-Videos an. Die sind tatsächlich um Längen Besser als die Studio/MV-versionen.
Ähnlich wie bei Sabaton, Nightwish, Dragonforce und Co. Manche Bands muss man einfach Live genießen. 😉

Nice reaction...super gemacht...auch von mir die Empehlung, sich die Live-Aufnahmen vorzunehmen. Sind einfach besser und haben eine grandiose Show...dann seht Ihr auch die echte Kamiband im Hintergrund...BM ist international 2014 durchgestartet...spielten bereits 2016 im Tokyo-Dome vor einem Publikum von 60.000 Zuschauern...ich bin vor Allem deshalb von Euch begeistert, weil es nur wenige "deutsche" Reactions gibt. Leider...Es gibt zwar eine BM-Community, aber diese ist im weltweiten Vergleich winzig...schaue man sich das Konzert von BM im Jahr 2020 in Berlin an, da sieht man, daß BM ein Konzert für ca. 500 Zuschauer gegeben hat. Das ist bezeichnend. Deshalb mag ich Euch um so mehr...ein ganz großes Kitsune Up!!! für Euch!!! Beste Grüße...

Ich hab ja schon einige Babymetal reactions gesehen, aber noch keins auf bayrisch. Das ist mal eine schöne Abwechslung! :-D
Alles Wichtige wurde schon gesagt, aber ich reihe mich trotzdem mal ein: BABYMETAL muss man einfach live sehen. Nichts gegen das Video, es ist richtig gut und eine der Ausnahmen, bei denen ich das Musikvideo tatsächlich vor der Live-Performance empfehle, aber Ihr dürft danach nicht aufhören. :-) BABYMETAL ist live nochmal mindestens 100% besser. Falls Euch eben dieses Stück gefallen hat, sucht mal auf UA-cam nach Megitsune und Metrock (ein Festival in Japan), Euch wird die Kinnlade runterfallen.
Ansonsten wäre „Headbanger“ auch ein guter nächster Schritt. Letztendlich kann man aber mit keinem Stück etwas verkehrt machen, leider werden einige nur oft geblockt.

"megitsune" ist das japanische Wort für "Füchsin" (also einen weiblichen Fuchs, "kitsune" = männliche Form). Der Fuchs spielt übrigens eine nicht unwesentliche Rolle in der japanischen Sagenwelt.
P.S.: Diese japanischen "Gitarren" nennt man Shamisen. Sowohl die "Gitarren" als auch das Schlagzeug im Video sind nur Staffage für selbiges.

P.P.P.S.: Die Truppe gibt's "erst" seit 2010. Und erst seit 2014 touren sie ausserhalb Asiens. Also das Mit dem besagten Festival: Vermutlich nicht.
