This broke my heart. RIP Bonita, Linda and Shane...I was really hoping to see what kind of people they'd turn out to be. All that wisdom and awareness...sigh...that was painful.
RIP Shane; i feel his families loss;so sad.I hopped to see him on 21 only for this.I have got so attached to this documentary;its a life story in 47 mins;very inspiring and enlighting
My heart is heavy, sore and broken. Hence I pour it out to all three of you Bonita, Linda and Shane. I am so sad because I already felt a personal touch with each of the participants.
With everyday treatment and dedication it won’t be a joke. I hope we could treat it like any other chronic illness that needs medication everyday. People who treat HIV live as normal as any other being
@Mutasa: You are very correct, but our leaders should be partly blamed because they failed to give they failed to provide the right platform for sustainable growth.
I think Linda might have also died from AIDS, but his grandmother just didn’t want to admit it. A lot of times, especially back in the day, families often used euphemisms to say that a relative died from AIDS (so they wouldn’t be scorned by the community). Even saying that the person died from tuberculosis was better than saying that they died from AIDS. That’s how stigmatized it was.
My dear Ant if only this world worked like that; the least I could hope for is that each and everyone in the Government watches this and by some miracle it touches their consciences; other than that I fear both you and I will see our own demises before people stop being selfish.
Watching from cape Town township it has been very worse with the democracy government everything has collapse because the government are corrupted they just doing human rights violation poor people cant access flushing toilet, running water also in the rural area the anc government need to be voted. Out of power only the the rich are benefiting in the democracy
Same. But she was studying filming then, so I guess she got more insight into documentaries hence she didn't want to participate anymore. She is Dr Nobunye Levine now, a film studies lecturer.
HIV at the time had such a stigma on the people who were infected as well as their close relatives. it was seen as a curse or taboo to be related to someone how had it; let alone suffering from it. I can understand the Grandmother's attempt to hide it.
@@formulaenergy2474 I’m glad all that is changing now. Amazing what education can do. The new stigma is around mental health now and I hope it will be just as better.❤️

Aids has devasted Africa. This documentary is very interesting. It shows that poverty is a very tough cycle to break.
@Mutasa: You are very correct, but our leaders should be partly blamed because they failed to give they failed to provide the right platform for sustainable growth.
So has corruption

The government needs to do more to end the poverty that lingers from Apartheid.

The 2 little Jewish girls "UR HALF JEWISH". That was her parents telling her that, beign half black, she cant be "whole jewish"
No, the Jewish line runs through the mother. The half black girls' mother is not Jewish so she is actually not Jewish at all.
Not Jewish, probably the grandchild of the helper who is being raised by the family
@@tshepo_thato The girl is mixed race, not a grandchild of any helper. Her dad was Jewish
The system which thrives on income inequality must be brought down
The oppressors won't allow that anytime soon
