      Sister they estimate that about 30% of the first African Americans were Muslim. That was diminished in the next generations because of forced conversion of religion, which Alhamdulilah is haram in Islam because Allah SWT says in the Glorious Quran, "Let there be no compulsion in religion. For truth stands out from false hood." - Quran 2:256

    Al hamdulilah, I converted to Islam in 1973, at that time it was the Nation of Islam, which was more of a social reform movement for African Americans. I couldn't imagine a life without Islam and our beloved prophet Muhammad. upon him, be peace.. I'm eternally grateful for Allah's Mercy.

    I'm a Black Puerto Rican Muslim from Philly. Being a Muslim in the World during the 20th and now the 21st century has its information challenges. People have spiritual needs and experiences that take on various forms, and for various reasons, but what is often lost in the message of Islam, is the purpose for our existence as humans in the first place. And that purpose is worship, the pure worship to Allah alone as one , and to properly understand the the message of the final Prophet, Muhammad ibn Abdullah , sent to the world as a mercy for all mankind . And it is his detailed example on how exactly to worship Allah alone, as one with sincerity that makes all the difference on what qualifies as true Islam.

    this 23 min documentary took me the whole morning to watch. i kept pausing to search about all the papers and people mentionned. i'm especially interested in knowing more about Dusé Mohamed Ali. I never wondered where Marcus Garvey ideology came from and who he learned from. i love it when history gets personal and focuses on regular people historians usually ignore. them too made history just by the way they lived their simple life and we can relatre with them a lot more than with kings and conquistadors. the Muslims in America have a very rich history i'm never tired to learn about, especially in this format, and particularly about a woman. you did a beautiful work ❤ Peace to all the Gods and Earths

      @@Waloos brother that were Muslims here before that period of time. There is artifacts that show in the late 1200 to the late 1300 the Mali Empire which was a Muslim West African Empire also was in the Americas. They were here before the Moors. Mind you it was the Moors that helped Christopher Columbus his first mate was it Moor which means it predates 1613 my friend. And there is mad written an archaeological proof of this. As I stated in my comment the University of Pennsylvania archaeological and anthropological museum has an awesome exhibit of Christopher Columbus and his first mate. Note Christopher Columbus was not Italian he was Portuguese and even though Portuguese had not formulated sovereignty completely at that point in time when he sailed with his Moorish first mate and other Moors there is heavy documentation on Christopher Columbus lineage which that is not his actual name and his first mate.

      @@Waloos note Islam was already here before Columbus hence Christopher Columbus thought he was in what we call today as the Arabian straight. The reason is because he heard the Adan being called and saw him minarets gleaming in the sky. His first mate also saw this and wrote in his passages in Arabic. So the Moors and the Molly Empire we're here in the Western hemisphere propagating Islam as early as the 1200s and then once again there was a 100 year difference from 1492 to the period you're talking about. Islam didn't have to be propagated because it was already in both the North American and South American continents. Once again the University of Pennsylvania archaeological and anthropological museum has an awesome exhibit of Christopher Columbus and his first mate that clearly shows that Muslims are already here. Without any European influence and or finance.

    As Salaamu Alikum wa Rahmatulillah wa Barakatuhuh... let's get it extremely clear African Muslims we're here as early as the late 1200 into the 1300s it is known that Mansa musa's brother was here way before Christopher Columbus. And then Christopher Columbus and many other Moors we're here in North America prior to many of the enslaved West Africans who were Muslim. With all of that being known and me stating it we also know that the Spanish allowed certain Muslims to actually exist and one of the oldest masjids was in New Orleans, which I believe was scheduled to be torn down in 1998 but I believe the Nation of Islam saved it. My point is this Islam has been in North America especially amongst individuals of hermetic and original Semitic lineages.
    So it is refreshing to see a documentary like this but note that Islam had been in the North American continent even when we look at so-called Christopher Columbus's detailed events of his voyage he said he heard the Adan being called and what looked to be like minarets gleaming in the air. My point is is that Islam has been in North America for a very long time. Just like up to 10,000 years before Christopher Columbus there has been an African presence. There are plenty of archaeological and anthropological finds that state this. The University of Pennsylvania's archaeological and anthropological museum has an awesome exhibit of Christopher Columbus and his I guess what would be first mates written logs that clearly State why they thought they were in the Arabian straight. Christopher's log in Latin and his first mate who was a Moor in Arabic speaks volumes to how long African descendants who were Muslims have been in North america. Just as I stated earlier that King Mansa Musa of the Mali Empire brother had made three Journeys back and forth from West Africa Shores to North America Shores. Also there are Spaniards during the 1500s that speak of Muslims being along the Eastern shores of North america.

      @@davidmuhammad8123Salam Alaykum. But our basic doctrine in Islam, is that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was our final messenger, none will come after him. And by nation, the word is referring to groups of people. A group of people is a nation, not just official countries.

    • @davidmuhammad8123
      @davidmuhammad8123 2 години тому

      @airatmolumo7202 Walaikum Assalam, Thank you for your opinion.
      Well according to Allah there is a distinction between a messenger and a prophet! Allah states in Surah 33:40, that Prophet Muhammad is the seal of the 'prophets'. But He doesn't say that Prophet Muhammad is the seal of the 'Messengers'
      And your second point confirms my point that the United States of America is a nation. And America is a nation that has captured and oppressed a whole people for over 400yrs,
      Then don't you think Allah sees that and then won't come to the aid of his oppressed people against their wicked oppressors! Don't you think black people, children of the formerly enslaved, are worthy in the eyes of Allah to have received a messenger raised up from among their own people!
      And We sent no messenger but with the language of his people,... (Holy Quran 14:4)

    I am from London, a black revert born in England with my families home lands being Jamaica and Barbados.
    In the UK, black people convert to Islam every year in very large numbers. We now have 2nd generation black born Muslims living alongside black born Muslims from numerous black majority countries.
    So, I am extremely happy that Islam is alive and kicking amongst black Americans as well.

      @@aaf1568 The MSTA actually played a pivotal role in the emergence of Islam in America. Moorish Islamism was always intended to be a stepping stone towards practicing traditional Islam. Most so-called black Americans at the time weren’t ready for Al-Islam in its full capacity and needed a simpler approach and so this is what Noble Drew Ali brought. Elijah Pool Bey (Elijah Muhammad) and the NOI sprung forth from the MSTA, and Elijah’s son W. Deen Muhammad would later turn the original NOI into an orthodox Sunni organization and guided many to the Straight Path. Without Noble Drew Ali, none of this would have been set into motion for millions of so called black Americans to eventually take their shahadas. Allah is the best of planners.
