    when you love yourself outside opinions dont hurt so much... especially when you realise that when people judge you they are projecting the judgement they themselves have experienced and internalised and it is more about them than it is about you... everyone has flaws but not everyone will judge another persons flaw esp the people who accept the imperfections in themselves

      yourtub right on the money. Its all projecting, nothing exists outside of our minds. There is no objective truth outside of our perception

    When the ego becomes so inflated yet fragile that it needs someone else’s approval, no matter how insignificant they are, in order to feel comfortable with oneself, then you know you have truly lost touch with yourself. Your ego has disconnected you from your own authentic self, where someone else’s hollow opinion of you becomes more important than your own truth. The mind endlessly analyses all the logical reasons why you should not care what someone said or thinks of you but it never switches off the underlying feeling of distress because your mind has been conditioned to need the approval. That is when you need to seriously step in and start practicing progressive mindfulness. Which means refusing to listen to the demands of your own ego and consistently re-focus attention into the present moment. Your mind will start to learn the meaning of autonomy again and reconnect you to your true self. Also, the mind loves to play the blame game and point fingers ‘if only this person didn’t say this, I wouldn’t feel this way’ when the real enemy is your own ego irrationally valuing the opinions of others beyond reason. Take back the power and shift the balance in your favour through progressive mindfulness.

      What is progressive mindfulness? I understand that maybe on the surface but what does it look like practically? I just started practicing mindfulness meditation (just sitting down, eyes closed and focusing on my breath while allowing thoughts to come and go) but is this a start?

    • @kinnyg27
      @kinnyg27 Рік тому

      @@IWasBlindButNowISeeJesusYes that is a perfect start. I really hope you stayed with it because 10 months of daily mindfulness meditation will turn you into a person that you could’ve only dreamed of. If you stuck with it, how do you feel?

    I took Juliens advice 5 years ago about decisions . “If you can’t decide between 2 options… choose whichever makes the best story …”
    5 years later, I live in a foreign country, I’ve broken 5 hearts, I’ve broken ribs, I’ve a baby with a woman I don’t love, I’ve melted my ego in a Shamanic mushroom ceremony, I’ve been to festivals alone, I’ve nearly drowned in the cold sea, I’ve swam in the January rivers on Eastern Europe. But at the end of it all, I’m broke and lonely. FML

    • @eliascontreras1951
      @eliascontreras1951 2 роки тому +2

      So your conclusion? I agree mostly on what julien says but you really cant all his teaching lead your life, you really have to follow your intuition and think for yourself, you cant have an option and go for the one that will damage you just because julien said it will be a cool story, you have to be smart on making decisions, do crazy not stupid

    • @b0bbo_music
      @b0bbo_music 2 роки тому +2

      “But at the end of it all” maybe you’re not at the end yet. If you get to a place where you’re happy then all of that IS a good story of how you got there.
      I’m not saying you shouldn’t adjust how you make choices, but maybe there’s still good stuff to come

    Thanks so much Julien. That part of imagining if I was dead blew my mind. I spend almost 1 hour in my room and then I realized that I was sacrificating my hapinness to the others.
    That the person that was running my self esteem was me, not the others.
    But showed me also what I really want, not what I think I wanted.
    Now its easy to know why we see some people that are like robots and dont know what to do with their lives. Until something happens to them to learn to put things and life in prespective

    I am not gonna lie, it is my belief that tyler went mad at some point and then emerged fully enlightened.julien with the scandal and shit,i kinda came to the realization that you need to go through fire to reach their level of clarity,potential and "surrender". It seems nothing really comes for free and it's getting clear to me that "only after you've lost everything, are you free to do anything"

    One part really spoke to me. Perfect timing to hear it. I was dating my boss. She broke up with me by letting me find out through coworkers that she's dating someone else. But i hadn't dated for 11 years before her. I shut myself off to it. Turns out, they last girl i dated did the same thing. I completely forgot about it. That's why i shut down and was in so much pain when my boss did it. Past trauma i pushed down into my subconscious.
    Anyway, dating my boss really woke up inside of me the feelings of being close to people, caring about people, and hanging out with people. Feeling wanted. So after listening to Julien i really tried to be my authentic self. Show my coworkers that i care, asking about their lives and family and stuff. Well they pushed me further away. They think I'm being fake and trying to hard. But really i just dropped the front and was being myself. My boss, a couple days ago, said I'm just trying to find validation. I told her no, I'm trying to be myself. And in doing that, if people like me, fantastic, if they don't then i know we're never going to be friends. And I'm totally cool more with them not liking me. They don't like the real me. They're unwilling to give effort, so they're not worth my effort. But Julien said in this video that putting up a front is seeking validation. by only putting forward "good" things and hiding the bad in hopes people will like you. Being authentic is the opposite of seeking validation.

    I just read the title: Ok, we have to learn to be free, but we also live in a society and I think that we should care what others thinks, we can't be too self-centered... For example, if I am loud in a bus, and the person next to me wants to sleep, I am happy she tells me: "Look, I would like to sleep, could you be quiet?" Of course I can, if the person wants to sleep, I respect that.

If you could edit in some normality and open the inside jokes ( so to speak) on your old “julien free tour” videos & re-post them so we could still learn from them but from an understanding of the full context, that would be awesome. I miss those old julien free tour videos.

    It's possible to worry so much about what other people think that you completely blow out your sense of ego, and when that happens, good luck putting it all back together (which is precisely what happened to me). My ability to YOLO so well proved completely disastrous to my life. And to make matters worse, I'm on the autism spectrum so I have no ability to judge whether my behavior is socially acceptable or not. Like I'll just walk into a coffee shop and joke about milking ferrets and not see that I said something wrong.

      +hHarry Matadeen, if you learn English in class chances are you get a lot better at its written form than at its spoken form. This is why a lot of non-native speakers can't comprehend spoken English well without doubling subtitles. This is because in class you tend read and write more than you speak and listen. The skills get out of balance. Listening is especially hard.

    • @cidaoaparecido4162

    narcissistic people only care about themselves "me me me" Selfies, the more selfies someone has for example the more likely they are going to be a narcissistic person...
    I can already tell if someone is or isn´t just by looking at their instagram...
    People shouldn´t care what others think about them, siince they don´t know you, therefore that´s judgemental and not valid, it´s simply an opinion and not factual.
    It´s true people don´t care, I tried it out years ago and did 10 push ups randomly in the middle of the mall to see the reaction, nothing happened and I`m still alive...

    Jim Carrey (2017) is the best example of what you SHOULD NOT DO by "giving a fuck", just like Julien explained between 0:20 - 0:52

    FUCKING NOSEDIVE! I LOVE YOU JULIEN! Just within the last days i tried to force that episode on a old friend who evolved into a 100% social media like-whore and was nothing more than a fake shell. So anyone reading this comment, really follow juliens advise on that one. That episode is 1h long, doesn't need any previous episode watched (Black Mirror is a collection of short films and no real series which builds uopn last episodes) and will stick with you big!
