      "Timeless" i.e. "eternal" writing is possible. This does not mean it is profitable. Marx is a good example of timeless yet unprofitable writing. Much profitable writing is not at all timeless, some is even very time bound such as stock market report writing.

      It's genuinely, quite literally all about two things, putting yourself and your work out there, and i don't give a damn how you are planning to do that, cold outreach, writing on Twitter every single day, whatever it might be
      And the second thing is you don't have any experience yet, so offer to work for free, try this and tell me if it didn't work, reach out to 100 people everyday with a free offer, and i promise you by the end of the month you'll have at least 5 clients, the key here is to not be blind from the fact that your time right now isn't worth a 1k per month, so you need to do whatever you possibly can to make it worth that sum of money, IT IS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY, ACQUIRE SOME SKILLS and then obsess about the money, ugh it's SO simple, you just gotta be willing to endure the pain of getting the experience you need to break free

    Thanks for this Cole. I've been freelancing for a while and have hit 6 figures ghostwriting but I really needed some of this. I made the mistake of getting comfortable with ghostwriting and not thinking beyond that to the next step.
    Anxiety (starting during the pandemic, related to supporting my family) really dragged me down and caused me to search out distractions to run from the pain and mental friction, making that really hard. But I've been coming out of it slowly lately and this helps give me a clearer path forward.

    OMG basically he wants us to write every day for a year minimum to get to this level… to summarise (and I had a quick look at Hugh Howey’s Tim Ferriss interview) is that I have to write… and preferably publish something every single day, no matter how long or short, for somewhere between 365 and 730 days and preferably consecutive days. I’m getting from this video that the action of writing needs to be turned into something as inane as flossing teeth daily or, for us who do sport and exercise, writing should be in the same life-category as going to the gym/track/pool/ocean daily

    Those are all amazing advices. UA-cam has so much videos like this and there must be other webpages with such advices around. But that is not my problem. My problem is the fear of sharing my writing with the world. I know that I don't suck but I am still afraid of everyone who sees my writing considering it subpar. My next step should definitely be to get my writing online and the next one to write online. That would be a great way of seeing where I am good or bad and knowing where to improve.

    My biggest takeaway was the logic you gave for why it is necessary to divorce us from the need to write under our own name vs. Ghost writing. So important to pass this hurdle. And if we don't, we will always secretly resent our clients which might negatively affect the quality of our writing.

    Something no one talks about is when you have no followers, testing for data is not possible right away. Algorithms and getting followers by great writing is not common with a saturated market. So a good solution is I base my data on gaining one follower and two likes …meaning one organic like per 100 followers = a signal something might be worth doubling down on.

    Great video! But I have a question that keeps nagging me. You mentioned earlier in the video write and publish “free” to figure out who your target audience is. Why not pick your target audience, research the holy hiphop out of them…And as your are researching write for that audience who are at various levels of expertise?
    I generally agree with the writing free and frequently, and I get it, there are million ways do things to accomplish the same goal. I think my actual question is why is discover-your-audience your advice rather than pick-your-audience?

People aren't going to buy that other person's book if they don't know who that person is. They'll want to buy from you because they know you, they like you, and they trust that your knowledge is valuable.

      @@wiseBearclaw Use their insights by recording a call or meeting in person, and the job of the ghostwriter is to make it more clear and easy to understand for the audience. So that founder can save their time and earn money by sharing their idea at scale after the approval of a specific person, with multiple rounds of editing if needed.

    • @ComedorDelrico
      @ComedorDelrico 2 місяці тому

      @@nicolascole77 Yes, of course I would read it if I were in a position to be hiring people. I think anyone can understand why the *reader* needs the article. What we don't understand is why the *CEO* needs the article written. What value does it offer to the CEO? And what are the circumstances surrounding it (like, is it a Forbes article, is it an article on the CEO's company's website, etc)?
      If you are the ghostwriter, your client is the CEO, not the reader. So understanding the perspective of the client is important. Of course, in order to make the writing good, we need to understand the reader. But in order to land the client and keep them happy, we need to first understand the client.
