She actually wrote a 3 stand alone shorter book series on Lord John. They are almost as amazing as The main Outlander series itself. I spent years hunting down even out of print books, with other outlander associated short stories in them, there isn’t one she’s written yet, I’ve not fallen in love with yet. Aside from Jamie of course, Lord John is my second love in the series.
@@Restlessgypzy ..... have you tried on line at thrift books? Check used bookstores in your town, public library, and look at garage sales you can sometimes find books and at Goodwill and thfit stores.
@@lindatimmons3675 I actually owned everyone ever written that had any story line at all at one point, including the short story that was tucked away in a collection by various authors she had done about Rogers parents! And that is exactly what I had done, used book stores, eBay, goodwill, and online used bookstores for ones that had come and gone, and were no longer in print. Sadly… our home was destroyed by Hurricane Florence and while I was able to save some of the main outlander books themselves, as I had them in my library and we were able to relocate books prior to the ceiling caving in (we believe a tornado did the initial damage tearing off shingles, tarpaper and some plywood, while damaging and lifting other plywood allow the water to just pour in). Our flood was from the roof down, we life in Swansboro NC and received some of the heaviest rainfall totals over 3 days, we started with just drilling holes in our floors trying to drain the upwards of 8+ inches of standing water at any given time, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but when your home already sits over 3 feet off the ground… But then we started busting holes in the floor amd it still wasn’t enough, there was just to much water coming in to quickly. So we moved everything we could ahead of each section of roof and ceiling giving way. We have a horse farm and equine rescue and just to many animals to even try to have evacuated and having been here since 96, we have actually built our property around hurricanes, windbreaks and the safety of our animals, we were here for a Bertha, Fran, Floyd, and those in between and nuthin… Florence, some wind gusts and a lot of rain did us in lol. Anyways. I had my more rare and prized books in my bedroom bookcase and those I couldn’t save, as that was the first room we lost, and we were just able to barely save some of our most cherished family possessions and still lost most. So like many our insurance co also taught us a hard lesson on how bad they get you at the worse time, and we are still living in a camper while we work on trying to rebuild our home, as we own it, and have a good old mortgage and oh! Since I guess the frame and outer walls were still standing it wasn’t a total loss either soo lol. While one day I hope to try to once again find the rest of my cherished books, Lord John’s stand alone and all ( were those not just as yummy as you imagine the man himself would be if you could imagine him into existence lol.) It will have to wait to I can spend money rebuilding and restocking my beloved library. But thank you so much for taking the time, and offer the suggestions to a companion Outlander Book Lover. And sorry for the short novella I seem to have written you here as well. 😁
Okay why is this comment section 75% hating on Roger?? What did he ever do to you, seriously why does everybody hate Roger? Maybe he's not the most interesting character ever but Brianna loves him, he loves her and they are happy with their son, they've been through a lot together and they made it, why can't y'all just accept that? And then also "Brianna and John should be a couple" - he's? gay?? And in love with her father?? And raising her brother?? How many more shapes of weird and wrong could a couple possibly be?? I love their relationship and their story in the show (and this video is really beautifully done!), but I'm so, so glad that the show never tried to push them as a couple for whatever reason
You have to remember that Lord John is a man of the 18th century while Roger is a man of the 20th. Their constructural concepts and sense of propriety will be quite different.
In the books Roger is a 6 foot plus hunk of manhood who may not have the fighting experience that Jamie has but is quite a tough nut in his own right and he and Brianna have a sexual chemistry from day 1. For some reason the writers of the TV show seemed scared that his character would outshine Jamie's and so tried to make him less manly and masculine. Richard Rankin is a good actor but he isn't physically as impressive as Roger and doesn't have the same sex appeal of book Roger.
Can't we have more of Lord John and a lot less of Roger? Like for real. That Roger is giving me cringe in all his intimate scenes with Brianna - like I even wanted Stephen Bennot for Brianna than him lol
Nicely put together and music choice 🙌🏼 I hope we see more of these two next season. Interesting friendship! If a few things were different in the story, they’d make a pretty good duo like Jamie and Claire I’d say

@@johnny63ism he doesn't have to be straight. He could be bi. Or even be gay and have a marriage of love, but not a romantic one. I honestly don't care that much, I just wanted to see more of them.

Lord John isn't bisexual!!!!! He's a gay man living in the 18th century who has had to hide his sexuality so that no one finds out because the punishment is death!
The casting director who chose the actor to play Roger should be promptly dismissed. A terrible choice. Roger is unlikable and has no sparks with Brianna.
I wish they would the writers would have killed off Roger and let Brianna marry Lord John. Their marriage would have been a very good one as it would be based on mutual like and respect, which many real marriages lack! And, I agree with other commenters, their chemistry is off the charts, much more so than Brianna and Roger!!!!
Well you could argue that even though Lord John is gay and into her father Jaime, he sees a lot of Jaime in Brianna. Perhaps he's bi or pansexual, but predominately favors men? Like he would always favor Jaime, but Brianna is second best lol
In the show Outlander the character Lord John Grey is gay. He and Brianna have empathy for each other's situations. That's just normal friendship, not chemistry. Lord John Grey is in love with Brianna's father.
@@sayedayesha4452 Well I think Jamie is a hard act to follow. Roger is just a very different character. Also I keep remembering that the actor who plays Roger is a real person with feelings and I want him to know he's doing a great job! :-)
it is really quite something how the outlander fandom just cannot accept the fact that lord john is a gay man, full stop. he is not bisexual and to say so would erase a significant part of his character; due to the conventions of the time he was born in, it is obvious that john, especially as a lord, would have had a wife due to the expectations put upon him by the society he was raised in. however, that does not make him any less of a gay man. then, there is the part where he always will be in love with jamie, which is also quite obvious whenever they see each other (and i love all of their reunions, because of the relationship they jamie and john now have with each other and the marvelous job sam and david do portraying them), and even when he looks at brianna (which isn’t bad either; i do think lord john is the best friend brianna has had in the past and maybe ever, and their chemistry is undeniable. but that’s all they are: friends. why is that so hard to accept either?). brianna and roger are clearly the meant to be couple in the show, not john and bree, and i don’t know why everyone is so quick to hate roger but that’s a whole different discussion. in any way, this is a great video that’s beautifully made and highlights bree’s and john’s relationship very well. such a good job!!! thank you so much for this!
PREACH MY FRIEND Honestly John is such an epic character, best of virtues and more honorable than any other character considering the pain he carries. I'm at season 4 and I just want to see him satisfied and with a man he loves by his side. His first love died in Scotland and his second was one sided. BRUH IS IT TOO MUCH TO GIVE HIM A GOOD END AND A LOVE STORY?!?
i always thought of his relationship with Brianna as a godfather. he is a gay man living in a time much different than today. love his character and honesty.
In the book, while Brianna is still trying to convince him to marry her, he admits that though he likes her very much for own sake, any attraction he may have for her would always be for her similarity to "someone else". Bree is a bit offended but then shrugs it off as honesty at its best, but then is offended for her father's sake. Though homosexuality is more accepted in the 1960's it's still not an open discussion subject like it is now in the 2000's and Bree is still a product of HER time.
The closest I know is when he tells Jamie he's confident he can perform adequately (with a wife). He put himself to the test while in London. We can assume from that he engaged a lady for hire to test if he could find feelings for her. He also told Briana that he was an adequate husband to Isobel. He never says women would ever be a preferred choice.
Con solo dos segundos de quimica en la pantalla me hicieron arder tanto como Clear y Jaimie, hubieran arrasado y lo hubieran hecho bisexual, pero crearon al insulso de Roger y la cagaron
It could've worked, rather gay he could've just loved Jamie as a person which could have caused him to love Bree since she is much like him. I love how so many are like Roger shouldn't have come back. Lord John and Bree should've married= correct. Should could've then at least met and been with her brother
I can't help but to ship regardless. I like to think he could be bi, because oh BOY if there isn't a bi erasure the size of Texas in the medias still... I know it'll never come true, but I seriously can't not ship them, honest, I tried.
Why aren't these two a couple? ❤ They have so much chemistry together, and the story would be so much more interesting ... I think it is but, it would be better. My opinion.
Well, can't blame myself for hoping that they would kill off Roger and that Lord John would somehow be bi and end up with Bree, cause there was real chemistry there XD. Sigh. Was rooting for it so hard even though I knew it'd never happen; Lord John was as gay as could be but then again, I felt that he'd be someone to whom love or the person transcended their sexuality. Wishful thinking now anyway, cause David Berry is not even returning for the 6th season. He was one of the best parts of the show for me, honestly. Binged the entire thing in around 2 weeks and just finished only to find that he won't be returning. I'm distraught.

That just proves that we shouldn't go around putting people in the categories we believe they should go, we need to start seeing a bigger picture and stop thinking that we can actually judge someone and put them in "X" box just because in our perspective we think or/and we were taught that they belong. there...

John Gray is one of my favorites in this series. I only hope he and William will come back in S6.
I think he will be back in season 6, in the books ,William comes on scene.
Agree 🤭💗
Jamie doesn't seem to like Roger that much either, just saying.
Beautiful actor John Grey 🥰 true love inconditional to Jimmy.
OK if he wasn't gay and in love with Jamie, these two would make an awesome couple, the chemistry is great! Much better than Roger.
I have to agree with you. I like Roger, but I don't see the chemistry between the actors. How can the producers and writers no see the chemistry?

Lord John isn't bisexual!!!!! He's a gay man living in the 18th century who has had to hide his sexuality so that no one finds out because the punishment is death!
The casting director who chose the actor to play Roger should be promptly dismissed. A terrible choice. Roger is unlikable and has no sparks with Brianna.

They would be such gorgeous couple and with much more chemistry, really hate Roger, most boring guy ever and he don’t have any chemistry with Bree.
Well no they can't because Lord John is gay. It would be incredibly unfair to them both.
it is really quite something how the outlander fandom just cannot accept the fact that lord john is a gay man, full stop. he is not bisexual and to say so would erase a significant part of his character; due to the conventions of the time he was born in, it is obvious that john, especially as a lord, would have had a wife due to the expectations put upon him by the society he was raised in. however, that does not make him any less of a gay man. then, there is the part where he always will be in love with jamie, which is also quite obvious whenever they see each other (and i love all of their reunions, because of the relationship they jamie and john now have with each other and the marvelous job sam and david do portraying them), and even when he looks at brianna (which isn’t bad either; i do think lord john is the best friend brianna has had in the past and maybe ever, and their chemistry is undeniable. but that’s all they are: friends. why is that so hard to accept either?). brianna and roger are clearly the meant to be couple in the show, not john and bree, and i don’t know why everyone is so quick to hate roger but that’s a whole different discussion.
in any way, this is a great video that’s beautifully made and highlights bree’s and john’s relationship very well. such a good job!!! thank you so much for this!
I really loved your comment, thanks! They are so platonic, and John is a beautiful character, and he's gay, that's it ❤
PREACH MY FRIEND
Honestly John is such an epic character, best of virtues and more honorable than any other character considering the pain he carries.
I think all the fandom knows and accepts he’s gay. Not sure why you think that. Posts on UA-cam is not everyone.
In one episode John tells Brianna he likes both genders, women and men.
When¿?
The closest I know is when he tells Jamie he's confident he can perform adequately (with a wife). He put himself to the test while in London. We can assume from that he engaged a lady for hire to test if he could find feelings for her. He also told Briana that he was an adequate husband to Isobel. He never says women would ever be a preferred choice.
He says he can have sex with a woman, therefore be an adequate husband, but not that he actually likes women
