It's SO refreshing hearing "indirect response" instead of "no response at all". Hopefully this isn't a one-and-done thing, and the game is purged of bots forever! ALSO, seeing that more people signed the petition after Valve took action is surprising, they probably lost hope that Valve would do... ANYTHING, which is fair.
I'm glad Valve is actually doing something even if there's no official response, let's hope they continue to do treadmill work and we can get this game to live forever

I know conspiracy theories are infinitely more fun than real life (they aren not) but this correlates to anything that tf2 has received in the last couple of years that wasn't community made content. Valve is silently cooking shit and then releasing it when shit gets hot to make people wrongfully connect the dots that it must be connected towards the thing they are advocating for right now when in reality it is in valves interest to stop the botting even 2 years ago well before first save tf2 bc it can easily turn into a legal matter which costs far FAR more than just a couple hundred thousand to pay some offshore company to fix the game kinda. Not only that but richter isn't the only one who made these claims and isn't the only one who has insider knowledge. I'm assuming valve must have contacted him to remove that and stop talking about this bc this is a very sensitive matter especially with the release of deadlock basically around the corner.
Before the ban wave I was seeing videos, videos PLURAL, titled "The fall of #fixTF2" and I couldn't help think "Guys, nothing's happened yet. Would you chill?"
Agreed on not sending money despite the indirect responses via bans. Valve still needs to add a permanent fix to its VAC system to ensure that they don't have to do the extensive treadmill work they have done thus far again. Afterwards, it would be nice for them to update the game via a community update like Frontline or that Aztec themed one (heavy was supposed to get a new mini gun from that) or maybe even the fabled Heavy Update.
Valve: Indirect response 336k to 338k signs (2k increases instead of the usual 1k increase) 12% of all positive reviews instead of 11% on steam TheWhat Show makes some plans public This is one of the best episode if this series!!

I don't wanna get too optimistic but it's so hard not to. This is the first time I had fun in casual in a long time and it's so damn good to just play the game. I never realized how much I took it for granted. I hope it stays this way.
Remember men: If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! we fight for not just tf2 but for other source games out now and yet to come!

"Even tho the problem is being worked on" The problem isn't worked on, Valve is still being too passive into doing the minimum. We keep on with the boycott.
I already signed the petition a few weeks ago, it was a pleasure to follow your #fixtf2 news and like Rick May said: "Today is a good day." For the TF2 players who didn't sign the petition yet: go for it, let's try to reach 340k or 350k while we still can!
This is a nice first step, but we still need a VAC update. Not kidding when I say that in almost every match since the bot ban wave, I've come across at least one cheater per lobby.
Honestly, I believe the indirect response was the best thing Valve could have done. The sudden move from them surprised the bot hosters and really had them at their knees. Well done, Valve, but there’s still more work to do.
I hope the creators have a warchest with funds to print off all those names because that's going to be probably around $2,000, and if not I would happily donate a few bucks to help out with that.

Dont get all giddy up, people. Yes, it is great to see some teal action from Valve, but we all saw them doing this around 2 years ago and vots came back several months later at greater numbers. Unless Valve is actually focused on dealing with bot problem for good, we cannot stop pushing them to upkeep the bot situation in TF2 and other Valve-made Source titles, because we cannot know whether its a one-time thing like before or they actually want to dedicate themselves to creating a solution.
keep up the good work, I don't really follow the content creators that heavily even before the protest began, but I really appreciate you reporting on all the happenings. get some more sleep, you deserve it!

Yeah, now instead of being a massive problem they are like an occasional mosquito now. But if Valve doesnt do MORE there is always a chance they will come back
I don't think Richter's claims are unfounded, but without proof it's all speculation. 2 years of behind the scenes work may seem like an excessive amount of time, but this isn't exactly something that's easy to do in the first place for a game whose source code is compromised. Again, it's nothing more than speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if it were actually true.

I don't know if I get the idea behind keeping the boycott going even though the game is currently in a playable state. If the bots come back en masse and Valve doesn't immediately do anything about it, I get boycotting again, but maybe we should give the dog a treat?
doubt boycott will do much for players, people keep forgetting the main cash cows are Traders, as long they are still moving money around TF and valve still make money off them i dont think they frankly care about the players side of the boycott, one thing i barely hear is traders, from what i heared most of them dont really care about FixTF2 since more then half of them dont even play main game of TF2 just trade items and deal in money, as long valve see a shift in items i doubt will take much action, but current Traders are a issue for FixTF2. if people are going to promote idea of never buying items Traders will contradict it and buy items.
Remember, it's not just about boycotting the official store. Steam gets a cut of all purchases on-platform, and even community markets are quite likely to involve trading with someone who ultimately got it from Valve. A complete economic shutdown is needed.
A financial boycott seems 'less' appropriate now (and it was nice to experience TF2 casual without bots recently). This ban wave should make bot-hosters think twice for a while even 'if' no further action is planned. Best to stay the boycott until a suitable set future check-in date (Such as 3rd December). Such serves as positive reinforcement for Valve, with a built-in 'performance review'. This also lets the movement 'rest' while having a fixed check-in date to help retain focus.
