Hey! I have a lot of ceramic plates, milk lugs, kettles and cups which are now chipped. I will be doing decoupage from your tutorials. What other ways can i decorate the plates? I wamt to make a vintage plate display showcase.

Very nice. How do you prevent the napkin paper from fading? I completed a plate and the color is not as vibrant due to some fading.

Hi, I've seen people use white ceramic plates instead of transparent glass plates with the decoupage napkins being placed on top (for obvious reasons).
What is you opinion on this and which do you recommend is better in the long run?
I haven’t tried it, but i guess it would be just fine as for most decoupage projects the napkin is placed on top of the piece the is being decoupaged!

Gloria Fields yes certainly.... Around the very onset... Dust the plate with glue and let it harden with glue and then put the napkin on.. Would have a slightly wrinkled effect though ☺️happy crafting

where do you get your clear plates from and the larger napkins.
Marlene, These were a part of a tea set.. They are saucers that outlived the tea cups..

linda meanbean Hi... The gesso converts the transparent screen to an opaque one..It's the most important step.. Brings out the colors in the napkin.. You can see it in the video.. The plate before applying gesso and after it. You can also just use white acrylic/chalk paint.. Do try it out and let know.. Thanks😊

diana collins You can use mod podge/ decoupage glue on mirrors.... It works just as it would on glass!

Hi what would happen if I apply the paper napkin on the top part of the plate instead of placing it on the bottom?
Roshni Adeesh - why on earth would you consider applying motifs to the surface of the plate ? What would be your reasoning behind it ? You would still need to varnish the end product and unless you were prepared to use up to 30 layers of varnish you would loose that glass effect as the end result... It would be an inferior product I believe...

But , i was told in a craft class that you always rub rubbing alcohol on your plate first to clean it and to get smears, fingerprints off of it.
