Been playing the cbx2 54 and 60 for a couple of years now and I love them. Even my most abusive friends admit that my short game is my strength.
I tried these wedges at golf expo I was impressed cause I was able to open up 60 and play nice flop shot. Will be going in my bag
I honestly think the most important benefit of these wedges, on an actual golf course, where you will be hitting them off actual real grass and dirt, is the wider bounce - that still has proper relief to facilitate shots. If you take any average golfer with a handicap above 5, and put them on a tight lie between 20 to 45 yards from the green, most of them start to panic and take out things like putters, 7 irons or hybrids because they just do not have the practice / confidence / skill to repeatedly, with narrow width bounce wedges, cleanly hit these incredibly important scoring shots - they will happily accept a boggy and pray that they don't blade or chunk a wedge and get a triple or higher. I would say that 90%+ of golfers should use this type of wider width bounce until they can concretely show that it is harming their ability to hit shots that they are basically incapable of currently hitting. These should be by far the #1 selling wedges in golf.
Thanks for this comment. I bought this wedge in hopes it would resolve the issues you listed. I have a callaway 56 Mack daddy in my bag but consistently leave it in the bag for these shots for this exact reason.
How do you know me?
What about a 12 degree bounce ? What kind of results can I expect from that .. just ordered a 54 and a 60 and I can't even chip with them 😂
Thank you for sharing. Well written demonstrating a high level of experience and meaningful thoughts.
Just ordered my Cbx 2 today I know the zip core are the new thing but for $89 a wedge I couldn’t pass up. 52, 56, 60. Standard across the board but they will definitely be a big improvement over my 20 year old Cleveland tour action that the gaps are off at 50, 56 and 60. Pulled the trigger off this video.
same here. In Australia I picked these runout models up for $116 per wedge ($78USD) - A bargain compared to the new CBX Zipcore. Have also hit both, and they both feel extremely similar
I've got these in 48,52,56 and 60... They are amazing. Super forgiving.
I was in to TXG for a wedge fitting. John had me hit the CBX2 and I loved them. Got a 48 and a 54 bent to 53. Simply an awesome experience. It was fun to see Matt hitting them so well while Ian explains that there is really no compromise in the club for typical players. Really validates the experience and expertise you get with the fitters at TXG.
Thanks gentlemen, just what I was looking for in a review. About time to upgrade from my trusty Tour Action 588’s. Oldies but goodies
I was seriously looking at this wedge for TY for reviewing it!
Me as well, thanks boys.
I have been running these at 48* and 54* since last Fall. Some of the easy wedges I've ever had. Great spin on any category of ball (relatively speaking). I'm a fan of everything about them not least of all that face. I have them with C-Tapers. Very, very happy with them.
Awesome review guys and thank you for doing this! Very late last fall I was fitted into a 50* CBX2 as a gap wedge and was able to get in just a few rounds before the weather took over. Love this wedge and I play Cleveland RTX 56* and 60* and for me the three blend and work wonderfully!
I still have the first cbx from 2018 and they are incredible. The design/forgiveness makes it almost impossible to miss really. The Cbx2 made some nice design changes to the higher lofts so opening the face up was a bit easier. Can't wait to see the new cbx full face reviewed by you guys. That's going to be a fun club.
My irons are PXG “Ps”
Had 54 & 58 CBX2 for a few weeks now......Love them
Probably what I will go to next when I upgrade out of my RTX -3
Great review...
13k WOW
I just got fitted by Chris at TXG for this in my gap wedge. Love it
9000+ spin on that first PW "a little out the toe" is pretty incredible.
Tested them yesterday and their were awesome so i bought a 50 and 56 degree🦦
Happy to see you guys giving the CBX 2 some love. I own the 1st gen CBX 50-54-58 and they are the most forgiving wedges I’ve ever owned. Most of my wedge shots come out of the toe but I see little to no drop in distance. They gap in perfectly with my Ping G400 irons set. The sole grind on the higher wedges may limit people shopping these but the CBX is aimed at high handicappers needing forgiveness and consistency.
The great part about the CBX2s (compared to original CBX), and the main reason I'm considering buying them, is that they offer 3 different sole grinds now (46-52 degree V-shaped, 54/56 degree S-shaped, 58/60 degree C-shaped) compared to the single V-shaped sole grind on all of the original CBXs.
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING LOFTS CLEARLY :)
A comparison of the CBX2 with the Glide 3.0 under the moist conditions would be extremely interesting. How about it guys!
Man that view of the wedge photo was beautiful!
Great video, guys. I've been looking at these wedges too. I saw them in the store and was impressed with their appearance. I've read all of the technical information on Cleveland's website. Now, after your review, I'm sold! I'm playing Renegar wedges right now and think these will be an upgrade to my game. Keep up the good work.
just bought a new set of CBX2's (46, 50, 54), sold my Titleist Vokey's. Agree with James, just waiting for the snow to melt here in New York
I'm gaming the CBX2s in 46, 50, 54, 58 and I'm loving them. I just saw the CBX Full Face and I might swap my 58 for the full face.
46,50,54,58 is exactly what I’ve ordered. So glad you’re liking them. Can’t wait to reset them some time this coming week in New Zealand. Enjoy your clubs
I have the original CBX and absolutely love them. Much better blending than going from ping G25 to a regular wedge
GW H i use 50,54,58 and not changing anytime soon. They’ve changed my game. Much more confident on full shots
I game the CBX 50 & 54 after trying blade wedges for a year or so. As a mid handicapper the cavity back is best for me.
I was fitted into the sm7 wedges but I do notice that inconsistency on mis hit shots on the distance and especially the spin. These may be my next wedges. Thanks TXG.
I have a lot of wedges. Last summer I was using Mack Daddy wedges with 48°, 54°, 58°, and 64° lofts. I did some gapping and swapped the MD 54° for a Cleveland RTX 52°. Then one of my sons recommended that I try the Cleveland CBX and I ended up buying the 48°, 52°, and 56° CBX wedges. My distances with the CBX wedges are no further than the MD blades, but they are more forgiving. The only downside for me has been when I’ve swung harder than my stock full wedge swing. With the CBX wedges the higher club head speed resulted in a noticeably higher shot with very little gain in distance. With the Mack Daddy wedges, the higher club head speeds created more distance as well as height. Also I added a 60° Haywood forged wedge this winter and I love the feel. The Haywood wedge is an outstanding value. This probably more than anyone wants to know about my wedges.
WOW that spin! I struggle with holding greens with the wedges sometimes, so maybe I'll have to give them a try on Cleveland Demo Day at my local golf shop!
I got the 56 degree CBX2 last year and the way this club glides through the turf makes a big difference. These clubs are game changers when it comes to improving your short game. I'm a single digit handicap player and will be adding the 60 degree to my bag this spring.
So pumped for this. really considering these wedges to go in the bag.
I've been debating going to these wedges in 52-58 to go away from my current 4 wedge set up. This video just answered my questions. Thanks TXG!
@@clrandgolf I just bought the same two wedges and my PW is 46 degree to give you some perspective on my setup. Likely buying the cbx2 high toe in 64 once it comes out.
@@TheNuscas I have 46* pitching wedge too. Srixon Z785. I currently play hi-toe wedges 50-56-60 but I have a huge gap between my pw and 50. I went and hit the 52 and actually had more distance and tighter dispersion with the 52. I am going to get 58 in the hi toe on the 17th.
I got the 52 and 58 at the end of last season, these are solid wedges and help tremendously on toe hits(which is my miss). My biggest concern was the bounce and sole width, so far wasn’t an real issue on late season conditions.
These are littttt!! Don't need this much spin on full shots but would be interested in seeing how they spin on partials.
I bought these in Oct . Playing 50, 54 & 58
Loving them so far !
Same, but I opted for the 58 full face CBX👌
Man I have the Rtx3- CB wedges and I want to get these but I wasn’t sure if I should the ping glides but I am a 15 handicap and just don’t have the confidence to go back to a full blade. This made me happy
My set of three on order matching up to my srixon z585 irons
I have these in a 48, 52 and 56. These are amazing wedges for my game. I got rid of my SM7’s
Great vid guys.. been waiting for this .. keen to see the around the green shots, nonetheless that was impressive .. will be trialling these and the Glide 3 for my new bag..
Looks like Matty should be gaming these wedges. I'm sure the shots around the green will seal the deal
I have the CBX 1 version and they are awesome! Forget ego, they perform just as good and better on mishits than ANY blades.
digging the intro graphics boys!
Wow incredible numbers! Very surprising....I would never have guessed these wedges would perform so well.
You guys! I am SOOO excited that you chose to review these wedges. Thank you! I hope you will do another video (or multiple videos) on them. While you touched on the soles a little at the end, I was surprised (and a little disappointed) that you didn't explicitly discuss the 3 different sole grinds (V-shaped for 46/48/50/52 degree, S-shaped for 54 and 56 degree, and C-shaped for 58 and 60 degree). While the CBX2s might not be for everyone, I appreciate that the limited options for grind and bounce of the CBX2s remove the dizzying amount of options that can lead to "analysis paralysis" when it comes to shopping for typical high-end blade wedges. And, at the same time, the 3 different sole grinds of the CBX2s are a definite improvement over the single sole grind option (V-shaped) that comes on all of the original CBX wedges. Anyway, loved the video, and I hope you will decide to do more videos on the CBX2 wedges (e.g. out of the sand, around the green, and, like you mentioned in the video, short shots/partial swings)!
I just picked up a 56 RTX 4.0 today and I can't WAIT for spring!!
I tested the original CBX wedges and really liked them, but got fitted into the Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth... I'm one of the few guys that needed a little less bounce and it wasn't an option in the CBXs. Great clubs but loving my Pings! Great video guys, as always!!
Marty: At the 10:00 mark you mention versatility around the greens. I can honestly say the 60 is the most versatile wedge I’ve ever played
Darn autocorrect
Just ordered mine & can't wait for them to arrive!! Having a good wedge set that I can 100% get a bit more forgiveness is exactly what am looking for!!
Hi Guys! I bought the original CBX 56 & 60 degrees this winter, I can't wait to try them on the range then on the course! Thanks for the video! Keep up your excellent work!
Would love to see these vs the Ping Glide 3.0. Both dry and wet!
I bought the original CBX when they came out 48, 52, 56, 60. Saw your Ping Glide 3 review and thought I would switch. Came home with the CBX2. In order to eliminate one club, I went 50, 56, 60. I play Mizuno JPX 900 Hot Metals. I’m considering replacing the 46 PW with CBX2.
@oneputtdean I would definitely be interested in hearing your thoughts on the sole grinds of the CBX2s (46-52 degree V-shaped, 54/56 degree S-shaped, 58/60 degree C-shaped) compared to the single V-shaped sole grind on all of the original CBXs.
kevin o'neill I liked the original CBX better - especially the 60• but I’m getting used to them.
The intro looks mint!!!
I have got to try these wedges.
I have this as my gap wedge and love it. Unsure if I should change my sand wedge and lob wedge or not. Hard to find anywhere in the UK that will let you loose in a bunker with one before buying.
Yeah we are definitely hitting a realm where chunkier cavity back wedges are producing more spin due to head design and increased ball speeds. This may be a new era in wedge design. Personally not a fan of chunky wedges but these CBX 2’s look pretty streamlined for what they’re intended to do. Great video as always!
Wow. Great numbers. 👍🏼
I have the 46, 50 and 54. I've had them for a few weeks. I love them! And now that you've also validated them, I'm really happy with my choices. I took out my set pitching wedge and replaced it with the 46 and now I hit the ball a couple of yards farther and more consistent.
I play srixon 585 irons approach wedge to 5 iron. To compliment these just purchased CBX 56 degrees wedge, not hit it yet. Great review looks a terrific wedge, thanks for your efforts
Thanks for the review and testing. This would have been a great opportunity to have a higher handicap do some testing, any chance you'll be doing more of that again?
Y’all should check out the the CBX full face!! Looks sweet
Let's Do a test for CB wedges/Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedge vs Cleveland CBX 2 wedge? i.e. 30/45 yards over the bunker/water onto the green with medium to less green to work with and about a 6-foot radius for one putt., for High Handicappers
Hey Matt, I was having a shitty day, and for some reason your “for example in the toe” comment made me laugh my ass off. Thank you haha
Wow!. Spin king Matty.
Ordered the 52 and 58 last week, can't wait. Should fit well in my bag with my pw being 46 and I'm planning on getting the 64 degree cbx2 high toe coming out in March. My only adjustment to these wedges might be switching out the shafts into my same iron shafts (120 DG TI s400) and/or moving the 52 from a D3 to a D4 swing weight for a more seemless sw flow because my pw is already D4 and the 58 comes stock D4, as does the cbx2 high toe. Annnnnd possibly replacing my pw for the cbx2 46 :>
Great review as always. They just released the CBX2 Full face. Maybe a comparison of the high toe all groove wedges out there today and who they are for. They are all the rage now with Wilson, Cleveland, Ping (eye 2), Callaway, and Taylormade all offering high toe options now. (I know you reviewed the TM HI-toe)
I jumped when I thought u made that hole in one, but then it spun way back! 13,200 spin is so damn high! I just ordered these babies 1 of the CBX2 in 52° and CBX Full Face in 56° and 60° for sand shots
Just got these for my gap wedge and sand wedge just need all this snow to melt
Love that wide sole. We play in a lot of soft conditions here so that wide sole is a beauty.
Outstanding effort guys. Just love watch the reviews & chats you both do. Pity you aren't down here in Oz. I was going the RTX4... I think I've just changed my mind. Cheers
My irons are P790’s, and currently using CBX wedges (50, 54 & 60). Love these wedges. I do notice that my misses are towards the toe resulting in loss of distance and some accuracy. I’m going to check on the CBX 2’s! Note: looking forward to your shorter shot & chipping evaluation.
Just bought them today so glad I did I was going to buy Kirklands but these feel so good soft ton of spin
I Love my original CBX wedges, for me they are definitely the easiest most reliable wedges I have ever used.
When I went for my fitting last year I fully expected to end up with the PING Glides, but the CBX's were just in a different league that I had to have them instead!
I changed from the RX wedges to the CBX wedges when they came out to compliment the Z565 irons. I have looked at the CBX2 but as yet have not tried them.
If you decide to upgrade your wedges, I would definitely be interested in hearing your thoughts on the sole grinds of the CBX2s (46-52 degree V-shaped, 54/56 degree S-shaped, 58/60 degree C-shaped) compared to the single V-shaped sole grind on all of the original CBXs.
Interesting stuff, gents. Insightful as ever. A month ago, I bought 3 x CBX2 wedges in 50*, 54* and 58* to compare to my Mizuno T20s in the same lofts. So far, I can't speak highly enough about them. Your findings about consistency of performance in spite of inconsistency of strike (much more so for me than Matt) definitely ring true with me. I think the looks and kudos of gaming a bladed wedge may still sway most golfers, though, sadly.
I'm trying to choose whether to go the the T20s or CBX2s, are you still preferring your CBRX2s over the T20s?
Hi Nic. I’ve just got fitted for Titleist SM8 wedges (50, 55 and 60), but if I had to pick the winner between the Cleveland and Mizuno wedges I would have to go for the CBX2s. No doubt, the T20s are a more purists’ looking wedge but the forgiveness and backspin numbers from the Clevelands were great. Have a custom fit and compare both. Good luck. 👍🏻
Thanks, Nick. My pro shop has just chucked the 50 and 56 PING Glide 3.0 in my bag for a trial couple of rounds. I've been using the TM Hi-Toes for the last year or so, think it's time for a change.
The PING Glide series have all been great, so I believe, so they may well stay in the bag. Good luck with whatever you stick with, Nic.
Adding these to my short list to test when I replace my 50, 54, and 58 this Spring. 👍. Nothing worse when you’re 100 yds out from a front pin and you hit the 54 a little on the toe and it only flies 90 into the face of a bunker!🤬🤬🤬
I got the Cbx 50 and 56 last season, my 60 is a regular blade Cleveland Rtx. Upgrading to Cbx2
If you decide to upgrade all 3 of your wedges, I would definitely be interested in hearing your thoughts on the sole grinds of the CBX2s (50 degree V-shaped, 56 degree S-shaped, 60 degree C-shaped) compared to the single V-shaped sole grind on all of the original CBXs.
@@kevinoneill2170 I'm only going to upgrade my 50 and 56 to Cbx2. My 60 will be Rtx4 I think
I would like to see a review on the Cleveland UHX irons
my issue with wedge fittings is it's all full shoots off a matt. Since no one will ever let you take a wedge out on to the course to test them in the sand, or around the green how the hell am I supposed to know what wedge I should be using?
Love to see the comparison against the original.
Cbx2 vs. Ping glide 3.0
Go with the new Full face CBX in the lob wedge👍
I recently bought an RTX-4 in a 50 degree to bridge the gap between my PW (44) and 56. I'm off a 15, but what i like about it is that i get good feedback on what i did wrong. When i hit it out of the middle it feels spectacular, almost like it's forged. At least try them out, the feel good on the short shots too.
I regret getting Mack daddy 4 , definitely will buy it in 2021
CBX2 is no fluke. Went and tested gap wedges (TM MG2, Glide 3.0, and CBX2) and Cleveland was the most forgiving (not surprising) but the spin and spin retention on mishits was incredible. Consistently above 10k rpm. TM and Ping couldn't come close.
Hi guys just checking to see what your results were for chipping closer to the green with this club? From the looks of things this might be a great club for me...but I value your input on the closer shots as well. Thanks!!
What timing! I’m about to drop the hammer on these boys. I wasn’t sure if the Cleveland plans to replace these with the CBX Full Face coming out this month. They said, no, but I don’t know why they would offer both.
Would like to see a review of the Cobra wedges 👍
Nice set of wedges....and they don't seem pricey..but RPMs..WHAT? Dear Mr. Robot, divot tool please, clean up your dart marks!!!! Thx for sharing guys!
Would these have made your top 5 for 2019 if tested sooner and any real major differences between these and the Glide 3.0?
Been gaming the originals for a year now...the 60* is pure magic
Always my favourite golf content on here and another thought-provoking effort. I play a CBX 50 deg gap wedge which is nice for full shots (play Srixon Z565 irons so a comfortable next up to a Cleveland CB club with this). However it felt too light so added some lead tape to the club's back to bring it up from D3 to D4 so I can feel the head better (isn't the rule of thumb that specialty wedges should be 4 to 6 swingweights higher than your normal clubs so getting this to D4 was a little better coming from D2 565's?). But for half shots these clubs don't work for me, clubhead too light and much too much trampoline feel off the face, just too hot, so I discarded a 54 deg CBX and replaced it with an RTX-3 blade wedge and this is much better for me. Summary: hard to develop a club that is everything for everybody/situation, usually some compromise or trade off.
Drooling
I'm still gaming the Cleveland cg15 wedges from around ten years ago.......might have a wee look at these.
I use the cg15s also in 52, 56 and 60 but I think these may be new choice. Full shots should be more accurate and forgiving.
@@hollywood_golf .....exactly my thinking 👍
@@mazzerattimike8695
Just not sure about the shorter pitches and chip shots possibly being too springy.
@@hollywood_golf yeah......could be a problem
@@hollywood_golf been playing a 50deg for a while now.....outstanding wedge
Really curious how these compare to the glides. Let’s get Ronnie back in!
Had the first CBXs. Loved them. Seriously considering these but would love to know your advice over choosing a ‘set’ gap wedge or a ‘specialist’ gap wedge?
Andrew Bentley, they did this exact video about set gap wedge vs. specialty wedge here: "Iron Set Wedge VS Specialty Wedges" ua-cam.com/video/yA7LXLalDH8/v-deo.html
Are you going to review the CBX Full Face wedge when it releases in a week or so?
You were talking about hitting less than full shots with these and also about the grind. Have you seen times when an iron performed just great on the mat with the GC Quad, but then on grass it didn't perform nearly as well? I thought maybe some of the manufacturers might end up releasing products that were more optimized for an indoor test rather than outside because that's where a lot of these are tested.
I don’t think so: if they don’t perform outdoor, they’ll be bad mouthed very fast...
Just bought the 50, 56 and 60 from Club Champion fitting after testing the Vokeys, Callaway Jaws and Ping Glides to go with the i210 I also got fitted for
I use "player" irons and I've been on the fence about getting "premium" wedges, but the CBX that I got last year makes my short game much easier to play. I'm not the longest off the tee vs my buddies, but these wedges make up for it - full shots to chipping off the buried rough it's really good. The only issue is cleaning the back side.
Dip the club into the ball washer trough. And they will wash out nicely. 😂
What are they like with high face hit in fluffy or rough lies with low CG
I actually called Cleveland Canada and told them you guys need to get a set of these; hopefully, that helped :) My miss on wedges is also low toe and I have demoed all the big-name wedges, these were far and away the best performing and the 54* and 60* went straight in my bag. Coming from my old 588s, these are so much easier to game and like you saw in the video, the spin is incredible. I will say that the Vokey's look way better in the bag from a visual standpoint but for the average guy I believe the technology in these is a Godsend. I'm glad Cleveland got these out to you and hopefully, my nudge helped. Thanks for the video!
For those in the central NJ/NYC metropolitan area, I bought my CBX 2 wedges for $99 at Galloping Hill in Union/Springfield.
These wedges just spin more than any on the market. As soon as they came in I thought the GC2 was broken because the numbers were so high.
Matt never missing the line... jeeeesh
