Per me hai perfettamente ragione.

I'm with you on almost all points. When I first considered Evercade I was so consumed with the Indie games and I thought carts like Megacat and Indie Heroes would be the best of the best. But when I started playing a lot of those games, they're just too simple. There's nothing to a lot of them and for a game like Tanzer on Megacat 1 that I think is excellent, I don't think I cared for a single other game on the cart. I guess I was hoping for more carts like Xeno Crisis (which to be fair, Cathedral and Goodboy Galaxy are along those same lines) and polished games like Tanzer but that hasn't been the case.
I stopped updating a while back because I didn't care about the games of the month and even the bonus games they include for a few of the carts feel very lackluster. I guess free is free but it doesn't feel like there's any incentive. The Toaplan is a good example. I heard it leaked Tiger Heli on the NES will be the bonus game with Toaplan 3. We have the arcade version on Toaplan 1, why would we want the NES version? If you give me something like Grind Stormer arcade version, now I have some real incentive to get the other cart.
Last two things and I'll end what's too long of a comment. First, I'm bummed with all the hardware Evercade puts out that they haven't made a simple home console. No wifi connection, just plug into the tv, put in the cart, play the game. Second, I think your overall theme points out Evercade's best hope to continue being successful is to make sure they continue to give us quality games and I feel like they're falling off in that department. I do think the 2 new arcade carts look good but we need more and we need Evercade to get some new licenses.
I hope this doesn't sound like a whiny comment. Evercade does a lot of things well but I feel like every time I get excited by one or two things from Blaze they follow up with 5 to 10 things that don't apply to me or I don't care about.

Well said! I honestly agree with everything you said. No comment is “too long” my friend! I love hearing/reading other people’s takes on these things👍

The VS Console I used for my Jaycade bartop has had the Wi-Fi details deleted and the firmware is locked at the one before the library feature was added. At least I know all my carts to date work and won't get screwed up by any future updates. I guess that means no new Games of the Month but I have to agree that they've been very mediocre at best and I'm not really going to miss them. Unfortunately the new VS-R that I've pre-order will come with the newer firmware but there's not a lot I can do about that. Keep up the awesome work!

A lot of indie games feel like half finished ideas. No score, no High Score tables, Unlimited Lives, No Replay Value and your only goal is to get from A-B and your done. That's part of the problem... Blaze have put most of the high quality games on their own carts as well. So that means Indie Heroes is more about the good, the bad and the ugly lol, and the odd gem here and there. 😃😉

I thought that the game of the month was neat at first, but I haven't really played any of those that I've really liked. I do enjoy the bigger indie titles, like Cathedral and Alma's awakening. Those just feel like they're much better quality. I bought Indie Heroes 1, because my son really wanted it, but I dont feel any incentive yet to buy any other Indie Heroes carts at all. I do like some single screen games, but Donut Dodo alone isn't enough to get me to buy the entire Indie cart. I like that people like John Hancock are putting out games now, and his game is one of the better puzzle titles that we've seen, but I hope that it isn't the main "Showpiece" of this next collection. TBH, I thought about picking up the upcoming collection just to support him, but to really support him, it'd probably be better off to buy one of the physical releases of his game, that he's sellling himself. He probably makes more money off of those than when his game is a part of some collection that's combined with a number of games that I'm not really interested in.

You’re right. I think Blaze would probably get a bigger chunk than John would. He does sell physical copies on his site and I believe through the Atari game store on the VCS. He does seem like a really down to earth guy.

I can't remember if I have said this before but just in case...
Back in the day some games did receive updates, they used to sneak them out the door so most people never knew until the internet came along. MSR on Dreamcast for example has at least 4 physical revisions out there! PAL Virtua Fighter 2 (grey disc) on Sega Saturn was missing music on Lion's stage, when they did a rerun which had the fix the disc was changed to blue. Sneaky!
A good number of PS1 games that were released on the Silver budget lable were updated or classed as different revisions. Some like V-Rally added an extra car & anolog support on silver lable. Grand Tarismo 2, silver lable is regarded as the finial version by some so they don't play the original release.
Dungeon Master on Amiga has around 6 revisions and not all are compatible with each other when it comes to save games.
But yeah, updates have always been a thing. In the early days some Raido Therapy machines killed people randomly in the USA with lethal doses because the software was bugged..., had to be updated! It's just the internet makes it easier and we are more aware. Sadly it's not going to go away but thankfully it can make some things better. The VS is better now than it was first out of the box, that's another story though. 😉

Big difference between making updated versions of games and updating a game via the internet. That is the updating I’m talking about. I expect updates on modern consoles via the internet. Not with “retro” consoles. True retro consoles shouldn’t even have the word internet in the same sentence….nor Wi-Fi. Yeah, the internet makes these updates more convenient, but it also eliminates the true retro side of it.👍

basically you rather quality over quantity and i do agree. i personally feel the 3rd one was a step in the right direction, hopefully that trend continues.

There ya go! Perfectly said. I’ll definitely take quality over quantity. A lot of those indie titles on the carts just seem unstructured and put together quickly.

Yeah man I do like GOTM and I think it’s cool we get games like that. I do wish they would switch it up sometimes and not only have indie games. Like 1 month give us an arcade shoot em up, next month maybe a console platformer. I just wish they would just switch it up. So yeah I agree with you, a lot of them games haven’t been the best.

While that's cool in theory, there is already one person out there who thinks his black EXP is worth more because it still has Donut Dodo GOTM still on it. I'm sure he said he will buy another EXP to preserve it. If one idiot can do that what will people do with better stuff? 😂
Unknown if he has since changed his mind, the video is out there though.

I don't think the Indie heroes carts are special either. I must say that there is visible improvement. I don't like the first 2 carts at all. The third cart contains 3 games that I like, Donut Dodo, Thunder Paw and Big to Smal. But after being able to play this as game of the month, I have no interest in playing the games again now that I have the cart. I prefer quality indie games like Xeno Crisis, Full Void, Cathedral etc etc, then another Indie heroes cart with games that I don't want to invest time in.

Updating a system and carts is not retro. But, playing games in 1080 p is also not retro.

@@dirkb9788, I 100% agree. I think the system updates are probably my biggest gripe personally.
