    Thank you very much for this tutorial! Some notes from my experience with this workaround:
    I had to update the system to 12.4 on my MacBook Air (early 2015) for it to start working for some reason.
    Since I don't have anything to lose on this MacBook, I installed the patch to it's own drive so I'm now able to boot into the spoofed system without the USB drive plugged in.
    I'm now able to use this 7 year old MacBook to control a brand new M1 Mac Mini without any need to buy a keyboard with a layout I was accostumed to from my previous MacBook Pro I had from work or an expensive Apple Trackpad for all the swipe gestures I've grown so fond of.

    Some critical things for me that I probably overlooked, and others mentioned below: 1. You need to continue to press option when selecting the USB in the boot loader screen, and 2. although you need the thumb drive to boot the computer when powering it on in order to launch the open core patcher, you can remove it after the computer boots up. I think I am ok with 2, because I very rarely turn off my MacBook Pro. Thank you for giving my MacBook Pro 15” mid-2015 a chance to keep up with the new gen! Honestly owned this laptop for about 7 years now and there still have no reason to want to upgrade yet.

    Thanks for this very detailed and comprehensive tutorial. It worked on my 13" MacBook Pro from early 2015 with Monterey and I managed to control it and use it as a second monitor for my 16" M3 Max MacBook Pro.
    However, the picture quality is blurry, is stuck to 16:9 ratio (while the older MBP has 16:10 Retina display) and the controls are very laggy over WiFi. But it was definitely worth the try, especially since the bootloader is on the USB stick and didn't affect its normal operation.

    you can install the open core legacy patchers to your internal SSD or HDD or FUSION DRIVE you no longer have to use a USB all the time I did it with my 2014 madc mini with a fusion drive and it worked reboot 2 times though just to make sure and continue to hold down the option key and so forth. If you do the fusion drive make sure to install it to the 128GB SSD part of it and not the 1TB or 3TB hard drive portion

Tried rebooting with the options disabled as per the video but to no avail. Did all the troubleshooting from the other video still no go. Handoff, wirelessly extending or mirroring and Airplay receiver work fine.

    • @Mr.Macintosh
      @Mr.Macintosh  2 роки тому +2

      Great question and I should have covered this. The USB is ONLY needed on power up or restart. If you forget to plug it in, it should boot to normal macOS. Or you might need to hold down option and select Macintosh HD again. If your mac will be booted for days or weeks you can safely remove it. 👍

I had downloaded 12.6 on the PCIe drive, but not sure if this is where the trouble started. On the reboot I couldn’t get past the boot picker screen except to Recovery… which I did and installed a TM backup. Still in the endless boot loop. I get a chime, the boot picker screen and if I pick the SATA drive I get the Apple logo and briefly a progress bar then quickly a black screen, then back to a restart. Can my MP be recovered?

    Hello! I did the Monterey unsupported with open core to 12.3.0 I believe. Then there was an update that popped up on the regular top left. I thought in your other video you said in the future you can just update it normally and it should work. Clearly I was wrong because it did update fine and it’s still mostly useable but now the mouse keeps going wild and randomly zooming in and swiping. Just doing random actions after like 10 mins of use.
    Is there a way to patch after updating to 12.3.1 the wrong way?

    Thanks Mr. Macintosh, it is possible to use Universal Control in a Late 2009 iMac? with OpenCore Legacy Patcher & macOS Monterey installed?

      Hello David, You can only use Universal control on your 2009 if you upgrade the bluetooth card. This is an example of a 4.0 upgrade kit www.osxwifi.com/product/imac-2009-imac-2010-and-imac-2011-apple-broadcom-bcm94360cd-802-11-a-b-g-n-ac-with-bluetooth-4-0/

      If you’re planning to keep using that iMac for a while I think it’s definitely worth the upgrade. Especially if you are familiar with doing internal upgrades to your machine. It’s very easy to get inside these older iMacs since the glass panel is held on with magnets and a few screws for the display. I like to leave the iMac upright and use a couple of pieces of tape to hold the display tipped open enough to access everything (once you’ve disconnected the short cable going to the lcd)
      Shop around on eBay and elsewhere for the wireless card upgrade because prices vary. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Is there any reason not to install the patch to the internal EFI partition? Is it risky because of the spoofing?

    • @Mr.Macintosh
      @Mr.Macintosh  2 роки тому +2

      Jacob, if you know you will be using UC full time then you can install to the internal hard drive. I highlighted the USB way so someone could get out of it easily if they found a problem or did not want to use it anymore. The spoofing part is working well right now with no reported issues, but that could change in the future.

I can see all but is not able to see my iPad pro around. Thank in advance. (when i say "star over" if i can over write or do it in clean way)

    I tried this on a Mac Mini 7.1 (spoofing as Mac Mini 8.1)
    All I get when I choose the external EFI boot is a black screen.
    If I mount the EFI partition with MountEFI what should I see?
    Also, how does an unchanged EFI partition look? Because I also get the choice to do an internal EFI boot (from an earlier attempt - although I did delete the OC folder in the EFI folder on that partition, so that is now empty) it seems to boot normally from the internal EFI boot option.
    What is the native state of the internal EFI partition? Which folders should be there - if any?

    • @Mr.Macintosh
      @Mr.Macintosh  2 роки тому

      Great question Jacob. The default EFI partition should have only 1 folder called EFI inside you should see one folder called Apple. I'm trying to think what would cause a black screen, I've never seen that before. Maybe try to recreate the USB again? If that does not work for fun set it to 7,1 just to see if it will boot or not.

    I'm having issues trying it on a Mac Pro 2013.. when trying to fix the Apple ID (after booting from the USB), I get the black screen crash screen of MacOS.. installed is the Monterey 12.4 version (latest).. also using the latest OCLP app version v0.4.7

      @@bubbamc119 ouch... i do hope it gets to be supported.. there must be some kind of hardware related validation that the Apple ID update process is doing, because it exactly hangs/crashes after I input the security code. I've repeated the process like 5 times and it's always right after inputing the security code.

      Just an additional info, after testing with the latest OCLP version (0.4.11), it's not actually related to the Apple ID validation.. even without login or logging in, in about 1 min upon boot, Monterey crashes
