Me too i have a mid 2012 macbook pro and i just got the charger so i can turn it on it has intel core i5 2.5 ghz and 16 gb of ram and intel graphics 4000 with nvdia graphics 1080 ti so i will do the same thing but with mac os sonoma but i really want to install mac os sequoia but it still does not support open core sl i will install sonoma and i will wait for open core 1.6 so i can install mac os sequouia.

Great guide, successfully updated my late 2012 Mac mini to OSx 12.6.1 ... took the entire afternoon as I opted to stick with my 2T drive rather than add an SSD, but have 16GB of RAM and an older Core i7 processor, so it works great for me as my 3rd Mac in the house. Thanks again, worked like a charm.
Amazing simple tutorial, took my MacBook Pro Early 2011 to New heights! Works like a bomb. Upgraded my memory from 4GB to 16GB and upgraded to a SSD drive!! Legend!
A few hiccups, but I was able to update my mid-2011 iMac to Ventura 13.4.1...I opted to try the upgrade install without wiping my information and so far (knocks on wood), everything has been running well and stable. Thank you for the video!
@@Fralibers , I did end up doing a full wipe (after backing up of course) and did a complete fresh install. Now that OCLP 1.0.1, it resolved the Bluetooth not working issue. However, the assigned keyboard functions, such as the volume buttons don't work and I can't find an option in settings to resolve this. The other issue I'm having, is that when I open Photos and the click on a picture to edit, the picture goes blank. I can see them fine in the thumbnail preview but they won't open (I use Google Photos to navigate around that issue). In hindsight, I probably should have tried installing Monterey, as I believe it's more stable on my iMac model. Besides, those two issues, I'm satisfied because having the enhanced security features/patches is worth it...I think LOL
Worked amazingly, this is the second time that i install monterey, the first one failed so I had to downgrade to catalina, because the tutorial lasted like 43 minutes and teh guy did a lot of random stuff, monterey that time did not work well, i had stuttering, overheating and the apps didn't work. However with your tutorial, which was short and straight into the point, the install of monterey worked like a charm! Thank you!

A great tutorial. Have been nervous about installing this on my 2010 macbook pro for a while, but having watched your video took the plunge as it was so clear. Could have put Sonoma on, but I think that maybe pushing this old mac to far and was more interested in having functional mac that would run newer apps than the latest for the sake of it, so installed Monteray I am sure the Opencore boffins have ironed out most of the issues with this version. Works a treat, the only issue so far being that Maps opens but does note display a map. Seems this is because it needs a Metal GPU for this function to work so may be unresolvable, but defo worth the sacrifice for other apps I can now use. Thanks again. Clive

Thank god for the northern lad from Blighty! I spent 7 hrs trying to get this to work only to find that the reason I couldn’t get the blooming usb installer to install was because I had created it in my m1 Mac mini choosing Mac pro 5,1 instead of using the Mac pro to create the usb installer!!!! Only thing is I never saw the EFI boot disk icon once Monterey installed but it all seems to be working fine 🎉

@@liboom76 I did get it to install. I don't remember exactly how, but it was more difficult than it should have been. Likely had to be installed on a single partition, fast SSD, not a multi-partition SSD or slow thumb USB. It was only to run TurboTax 2023, so the moment I submitted taxes, I went right back to MacOS 10.13.6.

Thanks for the nice instructions! Did a clean install on my iMac 2011. Works well. I only had to find a keyboard and mouse with USB connection. My bluetooth connections did not work during install. My internal speakers are not yet working, I am trying to find out how to fix it. Tips are welcome🙂

When system is restarting again and again there is a moment where it apparently hangs with the message: "less than a minute to finish". Dont shutdown the system! After repeating the process several times i realized that it is able to continue if you leave it alone for at least 2 hours.

Earlier today I went through the procedure you've so clearly explained twice, and each time it stalled seconds after the boot picker step and remained stuck for several hours until I finally gave up. The problem occurred at 17 minutes and 28 seconds. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I wish this would work just like so many others. Your instructions are very detailed and clear. But at 13:18 my machine hangs forever. 2012 MacbookPro 9,1. This is not the first tutorial I have gone through, there is just something not working and apparently the patcher is working for most, but not all, machines. :(
I tried to do the upgrade while keeping my files, but the iMac reboots endlessly and when I removed the USB stick the iMac does not boot at all (I get the crossed folder or crossed circle symbols). Are you able to help me, please?

I had the same experience with the option key issue. No other video guide I’ve followed mentioned the problem. Little hinges swing big doors.

I followed your instructions and after installing oclp then rebooted I still can’t find oclp in applications
I tried Monterey on my mbp 8,1 it's saying that this copy of the install macos monterey application is damaged, and can't be used to install macos

Earlier today I went through the procedure you've so clearly explained twice, and each time it stalled seconds after the boot picker step and remained stuck for several hours until I finally gave up. The problem occurred at 17 minutes and 28 seconds. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I wish this would work just like so many others. Your instructions are very detailed and clear. But at 13:18 my machine hangs forever. 2012 MacbookPro 9,1. This is not the first tutorial I have gone through, there is just something not working and apparently the patcher is working for most, but not all, machines. :(

When you click on assets and there is a spinning wheel what should you do? I am trying to update an iMac late 2013 model.
I tried to do the upgrade while keeping my files, but the iMac reboots endlessly and when I removed the USB stick the iMac does not boot at all (I get the crossed folder or crossed circle symbols). Are you able to help me, please?
