The circle concourse where the legs come out would have been nice. That's what I thought I saw in the real life airport. Usually there is shopping in an area like that.
Tip for the hangers, you can use anarchy to stick the parked planes into the hangers. Looks great, and saves some space for ramping up your attractiveness score!
There's a bunch of airport no-nos in there... The terminals are for public areas like check-in, baggage collection, and viewing areas before going through security. No airplane stands. Then (following your inspiration) a short concourse would lead to a hub, not a concourse junction, and from the hub different concourses would spread out for national (small planes), continental (medium planes) and international (large planes) destinations. These concourses are where your stands are located. Then you add taxiways _everywhere_ to create many options to reach the destination, don't force planes to roll past every single stand in the airport. Look at a satellite picture of a real airport, taxiways everywhere. The DLC has problems, not letting multiple taxiways connect onto the runway, short planes don't need the whole runway to land and take off, and taxiways can be used both ways, but I guess the AI of the game would mess that up without tower control's instructions...
Biffa, if you don't like the color of an asset, you can use Move It to "reset" it which will randomly pick the asset's color again -- lather, rinse, repeat until you get the color you want. All at no cost to you!
Don’t name it that… it will slow the game down, reduce parking, increase in game costs, and force people to go around in circles. You’ll also need to make sure the motorway that connects to it is constantly jammed up.
Biffa, I think that most airports will have on-site firedepartment, cops and sometimes even small medical clinics. I think without having a road connection to the taxiways, emergency services won't be able to reach. Certainly not the fire dep.
for realism you should made the taxiway a little bit farther from the runway, (is for safety reason, to avoid collisions) And build more taxiways to make plane sky some queue for the parking slots! In between the two runways you cold build a parking area with a taxiway roundabout
I’d typically expect there to be at least 1 taxiway going parallel across the whole runway, plus planes trying to enter some other plane stands further down would be forced to stop for the many other stands before the stand they’re using. I guess that’s why all the biggest airports in the world are 99% taxiway, for planes to bypass other plane stands to reach the one they have to use
I don't know if they've done this, I'm guessing probably not, but it would be nice if the Airports DLC made it so all the planes' wing lights didn't flash in perfect sync across the entire city, because that always looks really weird to me at night and it would be great if it was a per-vehicle thing instead.
I'm not a expert but.... I've seen airports with 2 or 3 towers. And I know they have air traffic control then ground control so would ground control have its own tower?

When you had the fire Biffa, I wondered if there is a dedicated airport fire station as an asset yet? I think they may have missed a trick on the DLC by not having one!
Nice work on bringing back New Tealand!!! Totally love it. I would suggest getting a perpendicular extra runway and avoiding having curved taxiways. You could a taxiway parallel to the run ways and fit all the connections to it. Also put a middle connecting so planes don’t have to pass in front of all the terminal to get to their spot. For the cargo you could use the dead end connection (someplace near where the first level airport used to be) and build it there.
As a pilot I would be rather concerned operating in and out of this airport, but loving the return to this city and the series! Would happy announce to my passengers we have safely arrived at Tea-terboro Airport! :-)
Also: is there a tree-lined road with bus lanes? It would be nice to keep the bus lanes as far out of the airport as you can. (And I just realized: the lounges are bus lane red!)
That trick with network multitool to round out the concourse was *inspired*. That mod is magic, and you are teaching me how to raise the bar so much I need to start a new city of my own!

I love all the added sound effects in this one! 🤣😂 they were great. Since this is modeled after the airport in Beijing, I suggest calling it either Oolong Int’l, Bei Leaf Int’l or Bei Tea-ng Int’l

27:15 Hi Biffa! Just a tip when you build another runway next time and you want to make it pass through two points: 1. Draw a normal road first connecting the two points. 2. Create a second normal road with length of the runway parallel to the first road. 3. Delete the first road and the two points. 4. When all road guidelines are enabled, draw your runway parallel to the second road.
A bit of runway direction info, it is best practice to have planes landing and taking off while facing the wind. This is done so that less ground speed is needed to take off. Awesome vid. Keep it coming please.
I have got a suggestion for your island with the space center on it. You see the sand dune infront of the island? On the sea side. Higher it to fully enclose the body of water and place pumping stations in it and make an extention of the island!
Phew! I have also been worrying about New Tealand for the last two weeks or so, at least after finding my very own city paralysed by the update. Btw, as a Chinese, I did feel a bit proud when you revealed the inspiration for your airport ;)
Love it! All you have to do is highlight a lounge, or any building, with move it and use the reset object button. It will change the color randomly just as if you placed it. Someone probably posted this already, but would love to know more about what is/is not working on the workshop
If you really wanna go for evil, we need to get someone to make a jackfruit tree assets. And then just plant them on all streets with parking. Those are the true car killers.
Some tips for realism: * Planes like taxiing straight, and turning very slowly infrequently. So, you should review and get rid of any curves you have. * Planes like having lots of clearance from each other, so the taxiways and the runways need to be further apart - a few people mentioned that already. * Passengers hate sitting on taxiing planes which takes FOREVER - build some shortcuts between your taxiways to minimize the amount of driving they have to do. Though to be fair, maybe more intersections won't help realism because I don't think traffic is simulated in airports - you might get lots of clipping at taxiwayintersections...
That first flight was great! ATC: "Clear for takeoff" *Pilot applies throttle* Flight Officer: "V1....V2" *Pilot barrelling down the runway* FO: "We can climb!" *Pilot shakes his head* FO: *Sweating profusely as the end of the runway rapidly approaches towards a bolder, the powerlines, and a huge body of water* "Up!" Pilot: *Pulls up and starts his climb* "Biffa paid for this whole runway and we're going to use it!" FO: *Punches his pilot in the arm*
Commercial Pilot here! Airports have a 3 letter identification for shorthand. Whatever name you use for the airport, you can always make the 3 letter identifier TEA. In the UK I think they start with “EG” so that might mess it up. But I’m the US it is a “K”, so you could also use “KTEA”!
thanks for the video. I was already disappointed about the missing monorail connectivity for this dlc. Seeing the fire on the airport with no access for any ground based fire team ... makes me cry. Even the tiniest real word airport has a local fire brigade directly attached to the airport.
Was just thinking, something that would be cool. The discount hotels would be close to the hotel like you have but you could move the posh hotel further away from the noice but give it its own dedicated monorail to get to the airport.
Played a few times since Airports. Brand new city used building themes from the start. Don’t seem to be having any issues with themes on my end. 🤷🏻♂️ Nice to see new Tealand again! Can’t wait for more Blitea! Teathrow sounds fantastic!
Airport name Idea: Tea World Airport (TWA) - Your best connections to tea holiday throughout the world. Is it possible to curve the concourse ways or are they straight only? You would have more space if you took the medium off the ends of the concourse and just filled in more of the concourses. Also, planes need a way to move from on gate to another in the case of malfunction, so you can't force all outward taxi lanes to the main runways.
Biffa, the Workshop also grants you with an adaptation of the Airport's DLC train and metro stations to respectively Monorail and Tram. And a fabulous Concorde (although not in British Airways livery but the old Legacy AirFrance might do the trick just the same, vintage and simple). Oh and the Dashang airport used to be in the workshop as well, must be not functional now of course. At least you could take it as a landmark with a building editor like Akruas did in his Aurelia City. If you want a crazy looking airport, take Chicago O'Hare. It has 8 runways ! Terminals are A shaped and has a crazy metro system linking all the terminals and the parking and bus station. 90 degrees angled junctions on terminals should be what you aim for since you lose a lot of space for plane stands with your sharp junctions.. The triangle about in front of the airport is ugly. Looks like you have the space for a satelite terminal or two further down the island...
You really need to build another taxiway before the plane goes out to the runway. Also a concourse as transition in the middle of the airport as point of transit between the entrance and the terminals.
Heatearow airport? or maybe Yorkshire International? also, swapping the middle connection bit for a concourse would be quite nice in my opinion. Nicely done considering the limited tools in cities: skylines. Can't wait for the modding community to expand that toolset! (edit, found out that others beat me to it with theathrow, should have gone looking through the chat first :-)
Looking great so far! What about adding in a cut in for the water in the centre area rather than the unused land as it would look more attractive and also bring back more of the natural island shape that we had before.
The concourses that comprise the elongated X shape in the middle should rotate so that the long axis parallels the two runways. This will leave more space for sensible taxiways, and you could extend all four piers. This configuration better utilizes the space between runways. Also, if you use the concourse hub in the middle of the X, you can connect to the main terminal via subway shuttle (making it a true midfield terminal) and eliminating the long concourse that currently connects them. (Alternatively, keep the long concourse as part of the main terminal and move the X closer to the other end of the runway.
John F. Kenne-tea In-tea-national Airport seems a good one to me, Biffa. Or, perhaps Bess-tea Coleman In-tea-national Airport in honour of pioneer Bessie Coleman. First African-American woman and Native American to hold a pilot's licence. And first black person to attain an international pilot's licence.
Biffa. Most of not all airports around busy airports are built with noise in mind. The walls are thicker and design to mid agate as much sound as possible.
You could keep the Classic Terminal as part of the Modern Airport. The Antalya Airport, for example, kept its old Terminal when they built their much larger, modern Terminals. They now park planes around it.
You can connect more oneway road to the other in order to cover most of the ground as long as you respect the way they have to go, planes will choose each time different and shorter paths. It will look nicer as more realistic details will be added and more concrete all over the airport..but great job. I will try today doing a similar multiconcurse airport
You might want to think about adding a few taxiways for short cuts so not every plane has to follow the entire route to the gates. But seriously Damned good work
I feel like I have waited FOREVER for this episode!! So glad it’s finally here!! Great start on the airport, can’t wait to see all the extra details you come up with!!!
I was thinking of the obvious Tea related names Teathrow etc but for a city as well built as this I thought it would be a great idea to name the Airport " ECANIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT" as a tribute to someone who made this game so much better for alot of us
I was worried when you started the airport with that super long runaway haha. Here's my points: - The main taxiway is too close to the runaway. - Would look nice and more realistic to split the taxiway after a few meters having it going to the different plane stands so you don't have the planes in one single line blocking each other (I mean closer to the stands) - The runaways could be a bit shorter and I think would be nice thing and realistic if you add shorter ones still, maybe in parallel with the big ones starting after the terminals, with the taxi way in between. And also possible a shorter one at the end crossing the 2 big ones
I figured something out today for the cargo airport. You need to attach low level trash pick up, fire, and police directly to the medium or large Cargo airport roads.
Biffa, please add a military base. You could use some of this DLC to add runways for "jets". The island needs some military power to defend against the aliens who may come back for their rocks.
It seems pretty appropriate as the real-life Beijing Daxing Airport also hosts an airforce base with one of its five runways dedicated for military use.
You may want to watch one of your medium aircraft as it passes the ends of the concourse with the closest taxiways, where they join the straight ones paralleling the runways. The wings overhang the edges of the taxiway and look close to clipping into your terminal there. Might give your passengers a bit of a startle when a wingtip pops a window out. *grin*
For realism you would have more than 1 terminal, there’d more taxiways (like the Beijing airport in Google maps, hardly any grass and certainly no trees). You could use the hub at the junction. Think duty-free shopping etc.
New Tealand In-Tea-National Airport has to be the name for sure!
New Tealand In-Tea-National Teaport
yesss ofc
I was about to suggest it, but since you already suggested it, there's no point in me suggesting the same name again
Why not just "I.T.A?
That is the perfect name!
Those bus roads going into the terminal are not one way, the are asymmetrical roads… And the terminal building uses one way roads.
He missed the matching road on the second row to the far left. I notice he seems to ignore the second row a lot. :(
Those one way roads could be found using find it. Just type airport to search.
There is a oneway 2 lane+bus lane all one way. It was literally the next one along.
probably intentional. to get us to comment
I'd like to see some bypass lanes in the taxi way so the planes don't have to pass every bay.
I was for sure waiting to see some, disappointed.

the runways also seem much longer than they need to be.
Also goes right beside one of the concourses! I’ve noticed that with a few players, not accounting for the space there’d really be!

Good job no wind in cities Skylines 🤣
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines In other words runways in whatever direction looks best 😁
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines The windmill view is a lie?! 😁
Biffa, you don't plant coconut on streets directly, because the coconuts may fall on cars and people and damage/hurt them.
Lol oh yeah 🤣
You also don’t plant trees inside airport grounds (38:11). Mostly areas near airports are tree-less for a certain reason…
If you really wanna go for evil, we need to get someone to make a jackfruit tree assets. And then just plant them on all streets with parking. Those are the true car killers.
Some tips for realism:
* Planes like taxiing straight, and turning very slowly infrequently.
Finally! Been waiting for months, thanks biffa!
Months? Only been like a week or so 🤪
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines That is true, but felt like months
40:38 "Tower to Flight 384. Captain, any reason you are reversing down the taxiway?."
🤣
Grate video
Thanks time traveler 😁
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines i dont need to finish the video to know its going to be amazing
That first flight was great!
ATC: "Clear for takeoff"
*Pilot applies throttle*
Flight Officer: "V1....V2"
*Pilot barrelling down the runway*
FO: "We can climb!"
*Pilot shakes his head*
FO: *Sweating profusely as the end of the runway rapidly approaches towards a bolder, the powerlines, and a huge body of water* "Up!"
Pilot: *Pulls up and starts his climb* "Biffa paid for this whole runway and we're going to use it!"
FO: *Punches his pilot in the arm*
Commercial Pilot here! Airports have a 3 letter identification for shorthand. Whatever name you use for the airport, you can always make the 3 letter identifier TEA. In the UK I think they start with “EG” so that might mess it up. But I’m the US it is a “K”, so you could also use “KTEA”!
Hi Biffa... A tip I picked up from Few Candy...to change the colour of a building, go into move it and click on the reset tab in the menu
thanks for the video.
*Oolon'Tea International Airport*
Oolong is a type of tea
In-TEA-National Airport sounds nice!
Biffa has allot of room for improvement on airport design. Looking forward to seeing his evolution.
Played a few times since Airports. Brand new city used building themes from the start. Don’t seem to be having any issues with themes on my end. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice to see new Tealand again! Can’t wait for more Blitea!
Teathrow sounds fantastic!
Time for the Red Bull Airport Challenge! Biffa vs imperatur 😁😁
A cool name for the airport could be Fly-Tea, like high-tea. Good to see New Tealand back btw.
Airport area name Asia tea inspired - Oolong Plateau (it sounds nice to say out loud too)
Looking forward to more airport!
Rooibos is such an underrated tea, and I love the Teathrow people are throwing out, so I propose TEATHROW-ROOIBOS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
The airport MUST be called tea-airia!
Cool beans! Couldn't they make the gears retract? It looks so silly, like driving a car with your boot lid open...
07:37 "Don't worry, Captain, we'll buff out those scratches"
Or, perhaps
Bess-tea Coleman In-tea-national Airport
in honour of pioneer Bessie Coleman. First African-American woman and Native American to hold a pilot's licence. And first black person to attain an international pilot's licence.
8:24 we pay for the whole runway we might as well use the whole runway
5:31 "We've just got to be careful..."
_uses largest brush to paint the airport district._
Love New Tealand so much, glad you could save it Biffa, you must be do relieved. Airport name suggestion: Antigravi-Tea Airlines x
But seriously Damned good work
Hurray! Finally got the Biffa Memorial Airport in New Tealand! Thank you Mayor Biffa, you're service will be remembered. Rest in Peace!
I feel like I have waited FOREVER for this episode!! So glad it’s finally here!! Great start on the airport, can’t wait to see all the extra details you come up with!!!
I was thinking of the obvious Tea related names Teathrow etc but for a city as well built as this I thought it would be a great idea to name the Airport " ECANIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT" as a tribute to someone who made this game so much better for alot of us
I think using the option restart or reset (I can't remember now) in move it! you can change colour without deleting all the time ! 37:11
I was worried when you started the airport with that super long runaway haha. Here's my points:
- The main taxiway is too close to the runaway.
- Would look nice and more realistic to split the taxiway after a few meters having it going to the different plane stands so you don't have the planes in one single line blocking each other (I mean closer to the stands)
- The runaways could be a bit shorter and I think would be nice thing and realistic if you add shorter ones still, maybe in parallel with the big ones starting after the terminals, with the taxi way in between. And also possible a shorter one at the end crossing the 2 big ones
I figured something out today for the cargo airport. You need to attach low level trash pick up, fire, and police directly to the medium or large Cargo airport roads.
This is New Tealand Internateaonal Airportea
Teaport/teapot is the best name not only as a throwback but it just in general makes sense
