Hej Tobias! I'm glad I had opportunities to ride with you and TCC many moons ago, even if we almost crashed into each other once along the Arakawa River ;-) I really enjoy watching your videos and I must say that they are getting better and better each time. Very well produced and entertaining, as much as informative. By the way, I'm very happy your next build IS NOT going to be a Specialized! Cheers and be well my friend!
Also, I predict that in the end, you will move a lot fewer parts to your road bike than planned, basically because I'm there right now with my Specialized Sequoia. I was just planning to get a Fairlight Faran frame, and move all components from the Sequoia frame to the Faran frame. But somehow I anyway managed to buy a new power meter, GRX front and rear derailleurs, GRX shifters, Hope RX4 calipers, and some other stuff, so whether I just did a frame swap or if I did more is kind of debatable. :)
Yeah, it's not going to be a complete swap since the Open need to be ridable as well. Crank, STI Levers, are the main parts, Maybe brake calipers as well, a few of other light parts might need to be sold to fund other things... Wheels I obviously have an abundance off already :)
Looking forward to the new build, maybe you could try the GRX Di2 levers for the Open if you're using more gravel only. Heard good things about the ergonomics.

I wanted a bike that was durable for the high dollar amount I was willing to pay so I went with titanium but I didn't know that FESTKA make some of the best carbon bikes on the market and crazy light weight too.
Love your passion. It’s infectious. Respect for what you have accomplished. We all know too well that gaining fitness in conjunction with losing unneeded body weight is the superior method for finding those lost grams. After so many years chasing the next carbon wonder bike, I sold them. All of them. Over a year ago I purchased a new 55cm Moots Routt RSL in ano root-beer graphics. Chris King headset in ano root-beer. Built with SRAM Red AXS Disk (10-33). For road I use my Enve 3.4AR Chris King in ano root-beer w/ceramic hubs (GK 700x32 slicks). For gravel I use my Enve G23 Chris King in ano root-beer ceramic (GK 700x38 SS+.) All in the Moots is a tick under 18lbs. It is...without doubt, Sublime smoothness, stiff and light. Something to be experienced with this setup. This bike translates any ride, short or long into a happy ride. Now a 1 bike garage and absolutely loving it. My Moots is a hand crafted heirloom quality Swiss Army knife of bikes. It sprints like Usain Bolt and motors the sweet spot Z3/Z4 seemingly all day, while climbing like a Polka Dotted champ. In my mind. 🤔 And best thing...it gets many compliments. It was getting same-o, same-o seeing a crowded carbon field of ever changing colors, shapes and “theoretic watt savings” based on wind tunnel science for the Pro’s, not us mere mortals, yet all riding basically the same machines of SWorks, Emondas, Propels, TCR's, Dogmas, etc, etc. All good out there my brothers and sisters. Ride what you ride. As long as you ride. Ride safe and ride often. Just my .2. Peace.
You say mainstream. Giant easily make the best mainstream-mainstream bikes IMO, and savings over other brands can be poured into weenie stuff. Otherwise I'd look at Time. Bigger spend - Basso. All 3 make their own frames, which is something I look for. Look another option, splitting Giant and Time price wise, and also making their own stuff.

Not totally related to your video, but how much do your Extralite wheels weigh with cassette, rotors, sealant, and tires? From looking at your videos I have kind of hafv guessed, half counted and come up to about 2.2-2.3 kgs. Could that be right? Asking because I wonder if I could get a set of wheels that weigh in at around 2 kg. Without too much effort I have my Canyon Ultimate CF SL rim brake down to 6.2 kg.
My old Rim brake bike was 5.9... there's no challenge with rim brakes ;)
So as its not a specialized and not a canyon, as you already did mention t guns about them, i think it's either gonna go like big brand like trek etc or if the weenie inside you wins sth like a festka.. or some cheap ass alibaba build but i don't think that's gonna happen lol .
