As a COD player of over 20 years I haven't touched COD since Xdefiant released except one night to catch up with friends to tell them I am no longer playing COD.

@@patrickreyna9869 sometimes I'm pretty sure the spawn is going to flip, but it doesn't, it just goes to the other half of the same spawn, you know? Then I feel parts of the map are empty
Two main issues I have are shooting immediately after respawn due to shooting when I died and the other issue is with sniping, for some reason after quickscoping and pressing the shoot button the shot does not register until I’m no longer aiming down sight
For me the main thing that's bothering me right now in Xdefiant is the Intel suit wall hacks ability like you said in the video. I feel like there's no real counter to it I feel completely helpless whenever I get pinged on my screen. You can try hitting them with an EMP but that can be extremely difficult given you don't know exactly where they are and Everyone else on the opposing team can see you as well. you're at such an overwhelming disadvantage in my opinion. Even the Spiderbot while Super irritating to play against I can shoot it, EMP it or play the operator that allows me to hack equipment. I think if for the same amount of time as the constant ping it was a sweep or added a counter It would be far less oppressive to play against.
I feel like there's absolutely zero reason why your teammates should be able to see the wall hacks. That's such a strong ability, it should only help the player using it, but instead when you get pinged by it, like you said, you're a sitting duck.
Well, the counter-play to this is simply to not employ the camping strategy ;) I'm joking of course lol I think maybe the way to fix it is to just give the ability to the Echelon user and not their teammates. I suppose this doesn't help if there are 5 or 6 Echelons on the enemy team though 🤪
Me & My friend who are long time cod fans both have played this game. I'm ADDICTED and he has dropped the game completely and doesn't enjoy playing. For me, I love this game because of how satisfying the gun-play is. The guns feel better than anything I've every experienced in cod, (outside the OG Black Ops trilogy). The movement is SO FUN and Addicting (I like to slide around corners, jump, strafe and I can use every single gun class and compete. The specialists are both fun and kinda free kills at the same time, I enjoy using them and trying to maximize each ones effectiveness but sometimes encountering them checkmates you no matter what you do but overall I enjoy the operators. I feel like no gun is in an unusable state (however the Tac-50 is still too easy to use, I never snipe in any fps and it's my best gun on this game and feels bs) My friend dropped the game because he felt like the netcode was awful (I still die behind corners very regularly), feels the specialists are OP and spammable and hates their passive perks (120 hp phantoms, incendiary rounds, wall hacks, spiderbots), hates the spawns, map designs and the sliding, jumping meta
if he hates the maps he hates cod bc 3 lanes are just old cod maps sony your friend doesnt like arena shooters or he is one of these people who need eomm
When u understand how respawns works it helps to stop putting yourself in front of the enemy respawns and insta die xD Netcode is garbage, nothing to say there haha And the sliding jump thing, idk could be just personal preference, but if u have good aim and reaction it's fine, just shoot them, they die anyway. Is not a tac shooter tho, without movement it would be boring as hell.
Dedsec class phone ability should have a counter tracker where if you use the phone after getting Intel pinged it instead pings the location of the person who pinged you as a counter. That would also add some more viability to it as well as an interesting counter. And it would make sense like a hacker tracking down the location of someone trying to track them just like in the Watch Dogs games.
I hope they rework that spider bot, It's way too OP as of right now, people argue that it's not that hard to kill and that it's not even that good, but the reality is that it's very buggy right now, half of the time even when you do try to shoot it by shooting to the ground, it doesn't work, sometimes you get hit by the animation twice, and even when you manage to kill it you wasted ammo and revealed your position to the enemy, you have less HP so you are an easy target. Plus there are other use case you can use it offensively and defensively, you need to heal and you are scared the enemy is going to jump you hide in a corner and deploy it. You want to get intel on where enemies are drop it and follow it, You want to avoid enemies drop it and avoid it. And in objective game mode in offense if there is more than 3 spiders you literally can't do anything to get the edge, last time I played escort and we were unable to even reach the bloody thing, eitheir we were killed by campers and snipers (which is ok for an obj gamemode) or we would reach the objective and get stunt by a spider and die.
I don't think spiderbot is OP just an unfun mechanic. I don't enjoy dedsec but I played it for the character challenge. It often doesn't do anything useful, or if you do follow it you end up out in the open dying. But when you die to it it never feels like you got outplayed, just cheesed. So I would swap it out just for that reason. Maybe if they made it more skillful in some way to help push past people camping defensive points in escort, which feels like its niche to me.
Yeah, its kind of OP most of the time. On top of being hard to shoot, I find it gives me and my teammates a huge advantage whenever I stick someone with it. Just free kills and assists if you time the ability right.
The main reason why I find spiderbot annoying is because it doesn't require any skill to use and it heavily punishes aggressive and movement players. You flank a lot and push head on often? Enjoy getting spider botted every single time. As for your comment - the most bugged thing is the animation, but hitbox is consistent - always shoot at your feet even if you see no spiderbot, you will destroy it every time. It doesn't really work if you want to help your teammates tho
Spider bot is so annoying together with Intel suit those abilities has no place on the game, or they need to adjust charge rate in order to balance the game
@@lindihoxhaj4095would be better to only ping for that player or maybe they could do a full rework where you control a drone of some kind and tag targets with like a 1 min cooldown or something. There are several options they have to rebalance
Other than fixing the bugs, I would make the spiderbot's hitbox bigger, because currently it's frustratingly difficult to shoot before it actually jumps onto you. Another ability that lacks any kind of counterplay is firebomb, it's just a free kill every time and it's especially unfair on Occupy. I also feel like the fuse timer for the sticky grenade is inconsistent sometimes. Regardless, I love the game, and I know it will get even better once they sort everything out, especially in the hands of devs that actually listen to their community and act fast.
I quit due to the poor hit detection and netcode issues. The inability to consistently fight back against the opposing team destroys my enjoyment of the game. I may redownload the game and play it again if they fix these issues.
If I were in charge of balancing abilities: spider bot should attach to your feet, damaging you (less than it currently does) and slowing you, but not obstructing your vision or your ability to ADS intel should snapshot position instead of following the player. That, or be on a minute cool down. these are my biggest gripes with the game. i think Mag barrier is a little strong but not in need of a nerf, instead I'd like to see the lesser used abilities buffed.
until they fix it at least, it bugs out so often that I’d legit rather have it instakill me than stun me from 6 feet away or trap me in the animation until I die while being invincible

Net code sucks......pretty much every game I use half a mag to kill, but die in 2-3 bullets. As much as I want to play this game, I just can't with what I'm experiencing which really sucks.

Here’s my suggestion for the spider bot counter-play: You should have a short window to press and hold a button on your controller where you can prevent it from latching. If you miss that window, then you get punished. Kinda like the seeker mine in BO4
1. Some cases, it is not possible to shoot the spiderbot of your face. It also recharges quite fast and has quite a bit of health. 2. Wallhack ability charges a bit too fast and is too powerful. 3. I still get sniped quite often even though I a shooting at them. I think it should not really happen. 4. Getting ghost hitmarkers and dealing no damage. 5. Dying around corners, but a lot less now. 6. Team balancing is sometimes way off. Doesn't matter if I get 40 kills in a TDM, I'll still lose and this happens quite often. 7. Not enough stuff to unlock. I have most guns gold already and all challenges done. I guess they'll fix that tho. 8. Shotguns are penalized too much after jumping or sliding, since you gotta do that sometimes anyways. AA12 is trash even without that. With that said, I still love the game after 70 hours :D
@@Sfishh every match of Arena or Echelon HQ I use my double barrel shottie ( I have it at gold ) & almost always top the scoreboard or at least end up in the top 3 for kills & overall score. I don’t get the hate towards shotties. Maybe it’s people trying to use them on maps with too much open space?? Even then those maps have lots of indoor spaces to keep your gunfights in.
Since playing XDefiant I have not felt the need or desire to go back to MW 3. It has kept me engaged and enjoying an FPS multiplayer so much more now. This is very surprising given there is no SBMM , however I think we see as a community our feedback being listened too and more importantly acted on
I’m hoping with season 1 they nerf the bunny hopping after the 2nd jump, rework the echelon’s intel suit & sonar goggles, make the spider slower & have 1 hp & louder so you can hear it coming, implement a mercenary playlist for us solo players since the team balance is straight up ass, stop making maps more vertical meaning get rid rid of windows & 2nd floors altogether, and most importantly upgrade the netcode & add in more servers
Just started playing yesterday and I’ve been enjoying myself. I see some balance issues already but it is what it is. I’ll need more time with the game obviously but I think they took the MW2 route and prioritized fun over balance. I like feeling powerful and each class does what they should do well and each had felt fairly powerful at times. Good base to start off with just wish I had more feedback other than I'm having fun so far lol
Cool think with the updated thoughts. You played against some of the same people me and my buddy played against. It's super fun and great nostalgic vibes seeing the same people in different lobbies. Brings back local rivalries again.
I love this game and became addicted to it, theres always a feeling of wanting to come back and play it and I can play it for awhile without getting tired out. I agree with everything discussed with the video, im just very excited to see more content, improvements and features to the game.
Still playing and loving this game. Old school COD gamer who quit long ago and I'd agree this definitely has an old school COD feel. I've been primarily playing hotshot, such a fun game mode and a nice twist on "kill confirmed" that we see in COD a lot. My biggest 2 issues with the game are the spiderbot that's so incredibly annoying to deal with and I feel the sniping is still too overpowered. You don't run into as many snipers in hotshot but if I go over to escort or zone control it can get obnoxious. The flinch still seems to not affect enough.
the echelon needs some work and same with phantom the fact that they have extra 20 health on top of a shield is stupid, i run into those players 80% of the time and the other 20 is split between other 3

This. As a content creator I would love Ace to cover both controller and KnB perspective. Half of what he says in this video is just not true to the PC world. Snipers are as BS as ever, spider bots are freaking OP My idea is they have to limit class ability to only 1 player only (think of overwatch), so at most you can only have 2 players on the same faction given they select different skill. so no more swarm bots, no more spartan turtles, no more map-wide wall hacks. So the match is more balanced. Unless there is a faction mode where maybe there's 4 teams of 4 players going nuts

For the moment I can't play this game. Feels like I'm shooting marshmallows and I still die in 2 shots. I still die around corners. Also that spider bot is so frustrating. I counted, and that spider got me 12 times in one match. Ridiculous.
I think the way to fix the intel suit is to make it only give maybe that one snapshot for the teammates but display them on the minimap to the team, regardless of range, for the duration of the ability. Frankly, I don't find the minimap very useful at the moment since we don't have UAVs, except for knowing where teammates are. And when the time's almost up the dots and highlights should start to flicker off and on. Also, a real problem I personally have with the intel suit highlights has to do with the map's color palettes. When they're behind cover and solid red, that's fine. But when they're in line of sight, the shading often camouflages them more than they would have been without it. (Also, that damn silver Phantom player skin is almost like a permanent Digital Ghillie Suit. What's up with that? If I was gonna buy a skin, it would sure as hell be that one.) All in all, though, I gotta say that the game is pretty good. It sure doesn't feel as rigged as CoD and I've been able to go off in some matches like I haven't been able to in CoD for a very long time. And that's what I would have asked for kind of boils down to.
I've been loving it so far and no SBMM. Everything you said is pretty spot on. I'm an above average player and it's so nice to actually feel like one again!
I'm a 42 year old long time player of COD, CSGO/2 and most everything else. For the past 15 or so years since I've been playing fps's online this is the hardest game I have ever played. I keep quitting and coming back, but I think pretty soon I'm gonna uninstall if something doesn't change with the netcode, crazy movement and all that.
I kind of stopped playing this game. my reasoning for not playing so much is cuz I'm waiting for ranked to come out. At the time struggling to get attachments like you said hurt me liking it cuz everyone stayed with mp7 or ACR. No sniper flinch. intel suit spam and spiderbot bug. if I notice people with spiderbot. I'll throw the Emp grenade at my feet and spiderbot gets destroyed
Nerf the intel suit. Your gameplay looks calm. I have people jumping out and insta-kill me. It still takes half a mag to get a kill if they don’t run away. I am usually dead before I can react.
I just wish I still had the ability to aim slightly after the spiderbot jumps on. Maybe give me a tighter hip fire stread for the trade-off of the visual, audio impairment, and the movement penalty. So that way you still have a chance at defending yourself in close range.
XDefiant is the only thing that can make COD actually listen to its players. Rubin and team are putting on a masterclass on player-first mentality. It's refreshing - and the game is fun.
I'm level 80, I played quite a lot. I play less now than 3-4 weeks since most of my friends stopped playing. They stopped playing because they are NOT Call Of Duty fans. They never play COD, so them playing XDefiant with me for a few weeks was a surprise :)
Im enjoying the game still, but hitreg and ping are soo terrible that if not fixed soon ill quit playing. Also my lobbies 9/10 times require people it always starts with both teams missing 2 players..
spider bot: What I so heavily dislike about it is how unpredictable and uncounterable it is 1) make it a one shot kill from any weapon and increase its hitbox, 2) when its on your face you dont need to look down with a short barrel gun to get it off. Maybe you can just melee it once 3) reduce its movement speed 4) make all friendly and enemy spider bots visible on the maps at all times so we can better prep for a spider bot encounter. i think if all these points were met, I wouldnt find spider bots so annoying, and they would still be just about as viable
Game feels decent but it’s the game modes, I want more game modes maybe snd, or party games, a non specialist mode. Also I’m sure you can’t do custom games which is stupid, since I’ve been trying to just do 1v1 with my friends.
SND is confirmed for season one. Private matches are also on the way eventually. Party games are a great option. I’m sure we’ll get gun game at some point. A non specialist mode would be sick for the more casual players.
I like xdefiant, I am having more fun on mw3 though. Sledge has been doing great this year, xdefiant would have been better to launch last year with mw2. Xdefiasnt doesn't have sbmm, but the team balance can be so strict it can basically feel similar or worse to cods eomm. Especially for solo players with good stats. I have a 2kd, 4k skill rating and the team balance can be so punishing. Then you play parties on top of that, and it won't even tell you you're against a party!? Would love to see a mercenary playlist in XD, I'd play it much more with a mode for solo players.
Honestly the intel suit doesn’t bother me in the slightest cuz the game tells me that I’m being seen but the spider bot is so annoying especially when it knows when I’m in a gunfight it attaches itself to me

I live in the middle east, & Ubisoft have servers in Bahrain, so my ping in r6s is 50-70ms. But for some unknown reason they didn't utilize these servers in this game, so the ping hovers between 140-270ms & the queue times are absolutely horrendous, i love this game, i just want a chance to fully experience it.
Obviously netcode needs big improvement but I also would like to mantle within reason, I should be able to get to a 2nd story w/o stairs (within reason). Also, I want killstreaks. They don't need to copy them but we need SOMETHING more to work towards while playing.

As a division fan i love this game so much The sounds, the yellow tarps to show you can climb. The factions and the maps from the division! I love it so much
@TheXclusiveAce Found an issue, testet in the gun range with the SSR (used Holo sight) and found out that the bullet shoots slightly to the right of the reticle. Could be part of the hit res issue!
I'm still loving it, there are definitely some issues but I love how vocal the xdefiant team are and keeping the community updated on what's happening.
I'm still loving the game. Haven't enjoyed an FPS this much for years. Personally I'm very optimistic for the future. It's so nice to have a CoD-type arcade shooter without having to, y'know... deal with CoD.
I still haven't turned CoD since XD launched and in all seriousness I'll probably never play it again...or st least until they get rid of the eomm/sbmm crap. I'm only 70 hours of playtime in but I have improved so much it'd criminally insane. It took me weeks to finally have positive games and now I almost never have a negative k/d game.. and I only mention k/d because I've become a tdm ONLY player since they introduced it.
Stopped playing at level 75. The long time to kill + trash hit detection makes it very inconsistent to the point you can't trust your skills, and that's just frustrating

When they said they messed up and were going to fix it in an upcoming patch I took a little break. Now that the weapon xp came back feeling really good and there was a double xp weekend I was playing a lot. Season 1 coming I'm about to play a lot of it then too. The game feels just a little lacking in the rewards and content department and that led to fatigue as well

What platform are you on? Level loading is pretty quick for me on pc, only time it took forever was when the server crashed. Wym no dmg? Everything else you're on point.
I think they might want add a “penalty” if the team are all using the same abilities. Like if more than 2 people are using the same ability the cool down so increase to avoid spam
I just enjoy hopping on and having fun and relaxing time. Maps flow very good and the gameplay combined with no SBMM feels really good and chill to play
What makes the spiderbot so annoying is that it: 1. blocks your view; 2. stuns you and slows you down (even before it attaches to you); 3. deals damage to you; 4. shows no indication on how to escape from it. And that is simply way too many benefits for an ability that has a 30 second cooldown. What I'd like to see changed is one of the followig: 1. Can be destroyed in 1 shot, either slow you down or deal damage, but not both. Keep cooldown at 30s. 2. Can be destroyed in multiple shots, either slow you down or deal damage, but not both. Change cooldown to 45s. 3. Can be destroyed in multiple shots, can slow you down and deal damage. Change cooldown to 60s.
It’s better. But I do feel like the faction abilities are not very well-balanced. I would really like to have character specific abilities within the faction. I would also like to see my skins be interchangeable so that I could swap out different parts of my skins for my character so I don’t look just like everybody else on the battlefield.
Loving the game so far and it's 1000x better than COD - my one big request would be a nerf to the Cleaner's faction Dying from incendiary bullets even though you killed them is frustrating alongside the fire bomb essentially being a panic button that requires no skill to activate yet can kill you instantly - other than that loving it
I love having a casual shooter that I actually look forward to jumping into solo. I play BF2042 and Hunt: Showdown with friends but having a good FPS to play with randoms is great. Loving XDefiant!
Its so refreshing to enjoy an arcade run and gun shooter without any wierd mechanics and sbmm after what feels like forever. The last time i enjoyed a cod this much was in BO3/4.
Thanks for the vid! I will say, as someone who used to love CoD, but stopped playing, I love the airstrafe mechanic. It's an EASILY accessible mechanic for all players to learn that isn't quite like jetpacks (because some will hate that), but adds a little spice to each engagement that discerns this from a strict CoD clone. I love that for now, but we will see! I think for people who understand L-stick aiming, this mechanic is very intuitive as well. It provides a small skill gap that everyone can use!
No it’s not good. It’s worse since the season 1 update. Absolute trash and unplayable. Nerf the fucking ACR already, more than half the lobby is using that OP shit.
This game launched at a perfrct time. I honestly dont know how this is going to go down in the next 3 to 4 weeks with other releases coming. In the FPS genre BO6 has the possibility of taking alot of the stage away from them. But... if they can fix the hit detection and netcode i think itll last. Im over 24hrs and its starting to bore me. The weapons being imbalanced makes it irritating to use anything but the 3 to 4 guns that actually work. If your up against a ACR or a MP7 with anything else your pretty much done for from the getgo. Like honestly i get the hype, i understand COD is becoming more and more ugh to the orginal fanbase, but dont ignore that this game has major problems. That will actually kill it lmao. The only real thing this game has going for it , its free, its in a dryspell, and it has some unique ideas. Fix the shit or im dropping it soon
I feel like you had some good points on some of the issues like netcode and spiderbots. Other issues I find with the game are the firebomb, the grenade hit marker blocking my reticle making shooting harder, and would also like to see grenades on a timer instead of respawning and having one again which causes grenade spam.
Play some XDefiant and then go play some cod. You’ll be back on XDefiant so quickly after getting constantly killed by skill-less one shot weapons and people in Teletubby skins. Ubisoft is straight up doing cod better than cod in 2024.

Been playing since day 1 and still loving it currently like level 86. They had a me a bit worried with the xp change but after the patches and everything I’m very much looking forward to season 1
I’m in your same boat, only get to play 2-3 hours a week, not a fan of staying inside during my the summer months, but even then, I really enjoy playing this and gives me that old school BO1/MW3 vibes! Game is great, and once summer is over and I personally have more free time, I’ll be on this game 24/7
Just started playing as I've got back into console gaming and I'm having a blast. there definitely needs to be more characters and factions, it feels a little limited right now on that side of things, it's not been out long though so there's time for all of that to come, great video btw
Lets be honest, the game is amazing. Its just not perfect. Stop being a blind hater you clown. 🤡 If it wasn't F2P I wouldn't be able to play it, but I'd still enjoy it. The quality of the game doesn't have hardly anything to do with the price. You could pay 70 dollars for a lot of 4/10 games and also have a ton of F2P play games that are 9/10. The two aren't related.
Just started playing a couple of days ago and I have 6.5 hours in, 1,8kd and 2,5W/L. Biggest issue with this game for me is that the characters feel weightless. The way you move can either be described as clunky or as if the characters are floating on the map. You do get used it it pretty quick though. EDIT: They REALLY need to add SND.
I played one of the betas a while back and felt a little meh about it overall. A couple friends invited me to try it with them ~3wks ago, and I'm _hooked_ now. It feels like such a breath of fresh air after _years_ of the player-abusive CoD cycle and soul-sucking, variety-squashing EOMM. In an average game, pretty much any weapon or utility feels viable, and you're forced to adapt on the fly because you actually encounter diverse lobbies. Why on earth would I go back to CoD? I do not miss sweating my cheeks off with meta builds to go dead even every game. That's what ✨ranked✨ is for.
Largely agree with everything you said, Ace. One other thing I'd add that they need to fix is player collisions. For some reason, player collisions are off for enemies but on for teammates, which just seems backwards. Also, not something I expect they can fix at this point, but: Domination on Mayday is absolutely broken. I've found that it is very easy to defend B if your team is spawning behind the plane (and very difficult to push B if you're spawning on the other side), so whichever team happens to start there almost always wins the match unless you can force a spawn flip
I can say so far I haven’t had the best of luck with the game yet but I’m willing to keep giving it a try. My main thing is the spider bot and also I don’t know if anyone else is having issues with lagging but I get it big time. Also, I literally just got the game so I’ll give it some more time
Echelon player here. Yes while i agree the Intel Suit needs nerfing, I don't think it should be nerfed in a way that it make the ability useless for team play (meaning for objectives where you need to play together with the team such as Zone Control or Domination). I think a 3-5 sec reduction to its duration and increasing the cooldown to 35-40 seconds is quite enough to balance this ability. Making the Intel Suit only showing the snapshot of the enemy in the moment of a pulse is also a good idea, but i think making the intel suit wallhack be only seen by the Echelon player will massively hurt the class in team play.
I’m enjoying it a lot. I didn’t really like CoD and was mostly a Battlefield and Division 2 player. XDefiant has just enough that it feels like there is enough variety and fun that you can hop in and have a few good matches and chill.
i like to see how this game is evolving, and fast at that. Netcode and hit detection still need some work tho... Ps: idk if the devs watch your vids but they definetly should, you are great at giving constructive criticism.

Honestly can't stop playing the game. 80 hours play time and I've improved so much. Skill rating above 2800 and 2.0 KD with a 1.2 win loss. All this with solo play since day one, only thing I need is console only crossplay as PS5 is a much better experience than Xbox in UK.
Regarding the wall hack balance. I 100% agree. I honestly think they should increase the range and duration slightly but only have 1 pulse go out if that makes sense. It really feels like 3 pulses of it is wayyy to much time for the pace this game plays at and I really think it should be one of the more powerful abilities with a much longer cooldown time. Also 100% agree with the spider bot (god it is so annoying). They need to make the spider bigger and way easier to hit for starters. Second it shouldn’t even be doing damage if we are being honest. The amount of times I’ve been spiderbotted and gotten the kill only to watch my health drop by 2 ticks until I eventually die just feels off. I won the gunfight but I still lost? It wouldn’t be a problem if it didn’t happen all the time but when it’s literally every game where someone’s using spider bot it gets annoying. Also I know the cleaner passive has a similar concept but it’s slightly less op since we can actually still see our screen, aim, and move.
I feel like XDefiant is actually just well made. Everything annoying is mostly that, annoying. Nothing is a deal breaker. Sure, jump and crouch spam is still prevalent, sniper flinch doesn't feel as impactful and some abilities feel overused, but overall it's still enjoyable. I think the only flawed design is that EMP grenades are basically required to play in higher skilled lobbies. It just provides too much utility for how over centralized abilities are. I also do think most issues come from the server, not the game. Like people have issues with the spiderbot. You can just look down and shoot but sometimes it visually doesn't latch on your face. And snipers not flinching much when you shoot them but that's probably more because the server didn't register every hit before the sniper took the shot. If the servers get an upgrade to their tickrates, these issues will go away.
But...but what do you mean I have to deal with annoying things in my free to play Ubisoft call of doodie smoosh bros. game? :'( Lol all jokes aside I think you're right, the game is good overall and just has small problems that I think should be addressed like regarding faction abilities and getting shot around corners. I can see the potential in the game and I'm hoping for Rabbids, maybe South Park, and (dare I say it) Might and Magic...assuming Ubisoft still owns it :')
Haven't played a CoD since BO3. Super fun so far and its revived my video game addiction. I wish there were more penalties for jumping and squatting while shooting.
Agree on the echelon ability, that the wallhacks should only be for the player using the ability and not the whole team. As for the spider bot, the most annoying part is that it sometimes doesn't work to look down and shoot it off. I guess it must be a glitch?
As a COD player of over 20 years I haven't touched COD since Xdefiant released except one night to catch up with friends to tell them I am no longer playing COD.

Two main issues I have are shooting immediately after respawn due to shooting when I died and the other issue is with sniping, for some reason after quickscoping and pressing the shoot button the shot does not register until I’m no longer aiming down sight

i think the shot not registering is because the bolt action is a lot slower than what we are used to in cod.

For me the main thing that's bothering me right now in Xdefiant is the Intel suit wall hacks ability like you said in the video. I feel like there's no real counter to it I feel completely helpless whenever I get pinged on my screen. You can try hitting them with an EMP but that can be extremely difficult given you don't know exactly where they are and Everyone else on the opposing team can see you as well. you're at such an overwhelming disadvantage in my opinion. Even the Spiderbot while Super irritating to play against I can shoot it, EMP it or play the operator that allows me to hack equipment. I think if for the same amount of time as the constant ping it was a sweep or added a counter It would be far less oppressive to play against.
I feel like there's absolutely zero reason why your teammates should be able to see the wall hacks. That's such a strong ability, it should only help the player using it, but instead when you get pinged by it, like you said, you're a sitting duck.
If you play against a full stacked enemy team that all uses it and can coordinate when to use it, you are absolutely getting smoked. No counter to it
Well, the counter-play to this is simply to not employ the camping strategy ;) I'm joking of course lol I think maybe the way to fix it is to just give the ability to the Echelon user and not their teammates. I suppose this doesn't help if there are 5 or 6 Echelons on the enemy team though 🤪
Me & My friend who are long time cod fans both have played this game. I'm ADDICTED and he has dropped the game completely and doesn't enjoy playing.
For me, I love this game because of how satisfying the gun-play is. The guns feel better than anything I've every experienced in cod, (outside the OG Black Ops trilogy). The movement is SO FUN and Addicting (I like to slide around corners, jump, strafe and I can use every single gun class and compete. The specialists are both fun and kinda free kills at the same time, I enjoy using them and trying to maximize each ones effectiveness but sometimes encountering them checkmates you no matter what you do but overall I enjoy the operators. I feel like no gun is in an unusable state (however the Tac-50 is still too easy to use, I never snipe in any fps and it's my best gun on this game and feels bs)
My friend dropped the game because he felt like the netcode was awful (I still die behind corners very regularly), feels the specialists are OP and spammable and hates their passive perks (120 hp phantoms, incendiary rounds, wall hacks, spiderbots), hates the spawns, map designs and the sliding, jumping meta

Dedsec class phone ability should have a counter tracker where if you use the phone after getting Intel pinged it instead pings the location of the person who pinged you as a counter. That would also add some more viability to it as well as an interesting counter. And it would make sense like a hacker tracking down the location of someone trying to track them just like in the Watch Dogs games.
I thought the ping waves kind of tell you where it’s coming from.

I hope they rework that spider bot, It's way too OP as of right now, people argue that it's not that hard to kill and that it's not even that good, but the reality is that it's very buggy right now, half of the time even when you do try to shoot it by shooting to the ground, it doesn't work, sometimes you get hit by the animation twice, and even when you manage to kill it you wasted ammo and revealed your position to the enemy, you have less HP so you are an easy target.
Plus there are other use case you can use it offensively and defensively, you need to heal and you are scared the enemy is going to jump you hide in a corner and deploy it. You want to get intel on where enemies are drop it and follow it, You want to avoid enemies drop it and avoid it. And in objective game mode in offense if there is more than 3 spiders you literally can't do anything to get the edge, last time I played escort and we were unable to even reach the bloody thing, eitheir we were killed by campers and snipers (which is ok for an obj gamemode) or we would reach the objective and get stunt by a spider and die.
I don't think spiderbot is OP just an unfun mechanic. I don't enjoy dedsec but I played it for the character challenge. It often doesn't do anything useful, or if you do follow it you end up out in the open dying. But when you die to it it never feels like you got outplayed, just cheesed. So I would swap it out just for that reason. Maybe if they made it more skillful in some way to help push past people camping defensive points in escort, which feels like its niche to me.
Yeah, its kind of OP most of the time. On top of being hard to shoot, I find it gives me and my teammates a huge advantage whenever I stick someone with it. Just free kills and assists if you time the ability right.
The main reason why I find spiderbot annoying is because it doesn't require any skill to use and it heavily punishes aggressive and movement players. You flank a lot and push head on often? Enjoy getting spider botted every single time.
As for your comment - the most bugged thing is the animation, but hitbox is consistent - always shoot at your feet even if you see no spiderbot, you will destroy it every time. It doesn't really work if you want to help your teammates tho

Other than fixing the bugs, I would make the spiderbot's hitbox bigger, because currently it's frustratingly difficult to shoot before it actually jumps onto you.
Another ability that lacks any kind of counterplay is firebomb, it's just a free kill every time and it's especially unfair on Occupy.
I also feel like the fuse timer for the sticky grenade is inconsistent sometimes.
Regardless, I love the game, and I know it will get even better once they sort everything out, especially in the hands of devs that actually listen to their community and act fast.

I quit due to the poor hit detection and netcode issues. The inability to consistently fight back against the opposing team destroys my enjoyment of the game.
I may redownload the game and play it again if they fix these issues.
If I were in charge of balancing abilities:
spider bot should attach to your feet, damaging you (less than it currently does) and slowing you, but not obstructing your vision or your ability to ADS
intel should snapshot position instead of following the player. That, or be on a minute cool down.
these are my biggest gripes with the game. i think Mag barrier is a little strong but not in need of a nerf, instead I'd like to see the lesser used abilities buffed.

Net code sucks......pretty much every game I use half a mag to kill, but die in 2-3 bullets. As much as I want to play this game, I just can't with what I'm experiencing which really sucks.

Here’s my suggestion for the spider bot counter-play:
You should have a short window to press and hold a button on your controller where you can prevent it from latching. If you miss that window, then you get punished. Kinda like the seeker mine in BO4
1. Some cases, it is not possible to shoot the spiderbot of your face. It also recharges quite fast and has quite a bit of health.
2. Wallhack ability charges a bit too fast and is too powerful.
3. I still get sniped quite often even though I a shooting at them. I think it should not really happen.
4. Getting ghost hitmarkers and dealing no damage.
5. Dying around corners, but a lot less now.
6. Team balancing is sometimes way off. Doesn't matter if I get 40 kills in a TDM, I'll still lose and this happens quite often.
7. Not enough stuff to unlock. I have most guns gold already and all challenges done. I guess they'll fix that tho.
8. Shotguns are penalized too much after jumping or sliding, since you gotta do that sometimes anyways. AA12 is trash even without that.
With that said, I still love the game after 70 hours :D

@@Sfishh every match of Arena or Echelon HQ I use my double barrel shottie ( I have it at gold ) & almost always top the scoreboard or at least end up in the top 3 for kills & overall score. I don’t get the hate towards shotties. Maybe it’s people trying to use them on maps with too much open space?? Even then those maps have lots of indoor spaces to keep your gunfights in.
Since playing XDefiant I have not felt the need or desire to go back to MW 3. It has kept me engaged and enjoying an FPS multiplayer so much more now. This is very surprising given there is no SBMM , however I think we see as a community our feedback being listened too and more importantly acted on
I’m hoping with season 1 they nerf the bunny hopping after the 2nd jump, rework the echelon’s intel suit & sonar goggles, make the spider slower & have 1 hp & louder so you can hear it coming, implement a mercenary playlist for us solo players since the team balance is straight up ass, stop making maps more vertical meaning get rid rid of windows & 2nd floors altogether, and most importantly upgrade the netcode & add in more servers
Just started playing yesterday and I’ve been enjoying myself. I see some balance issues already but it is what it is. I’ll need more time with the game obviously but I think they took the MW2 route and prioritized fun over balance. I like feeling powerful and each class does what they should do well and each had felt fairly powerful at times. Good base to start off with just wish I had more feedback other than I'm having fun so far lol

Still playing and loving this game. Old school COD gamer who quit long ago and I'd agree this definitely has an old school COD feel. I've been primarily playing hotshot, such a fun game mode and a nice twist on "kill confirmed" that we see in COD a lot.
My biggest 2 issues with the game are the spiderbot that's so incredibly annoying to deal with and I feel the sniping is still too overpowered. You don't run into as many snipers in hotshot but if I go over to escort or zone control it can get obnoxious. The flinch still seems to not affect enough.
the echelon needs some work and same with phantom the fact that they have extra 20 health on top of a shield is stupid, i run into those players 80% of the time and the other 20 is split between other 3

My idea is they have to limit class ability to only 1 player only (think of overwatch), so at most you can only have 2 players on the same faction given they select different skill. so no more swarm bots, no more spartan turtles, no more map-wide wall hacks. So the match is more balanced.

I think the way to fix the intel suit is to make it only give maybe that one snapshot for the teammates but display them on the minimap to the team, regardless of range, for the duration of the ability. Frankly, I don't find the minimap very useful at the moment since we don't have UAVs, except for knowing where teammates are. And when the time's almost up the dots and highlights should start to flicker off and on. Also, a real problem I personally have with the intel suit highlights has to do with the map's color palettes. When they're behind cover and solid red, that's fine. But when they're in line of sight, the shading often camouflages them more than they would have been without it. (Also, that damn silver Phantom player skin is almost like a permanent Digital Ghillie Suit. What's up with that? If I was gonna buy a skin, it would sure as hell be that one.) All in all, though, I gotta say that the game is pretty good. It sure doesn't feel as rigged as CoD and I've been able to go off in some matches like I haven't been able to in CoD for a very long time. And that's what I would have asked for kind of boils down to.

I'm a 42 year old long time player of COD, CSGO/2 and most everything else. For the past 15 or so years since I've been playing fps's online this is the hardest game I have ever played. I keep quitting and coming back, but I think pretty soon I'm gonna uninstall if something doesn't change with the netcode, crazy movement and all that.
I kind of stopped playing this game. my reasoning for not playing so much is cuz I'm waiting for ranked to come out. At the time struggling to get attachments like you said hurt me liking it cuz everyone stayed with mp7 or ACR. No sniper flinch. intel suit spam and spiderbot bug. if I notice people with spiderbot. I'll throw the Emp grenade at my feet and spiderbot gets destroyed
Nerf the intel suit. Your gameplay looks calm. I have people jumping out and insta-kill me. It still takes half a mag to get a kill if they don’t run away. I am usually dead before I can react.

I just wish I still had the ability to aim slightly after the spiderbot jumps on. Maybe give me a tighter hip fire stread for the trade-off of the visual, audio impairment, and the movement penalty. So that way you still have a chance at defending yourself in close range.
XDefiant is the only thing that can make COD actually listen to its players. Rubin and team are putting on a masterclass on player-first mentality. It's refreshing - and the game is fun.

I'm level 80, I played quite a lot. I play less now than 3-4 weeks since most of my friends stopped playing. They stopped playing because they are NOT Call Of Duty fans. They never play COD, so them playing XDefiant with me for a few weeks was a surprise :)
Im enjoying the game still, but hitreg and ping are soo terrible that if not fixed soon ill quit playing. Also my lobbies 9/10 times require people it always starts with both teams missing 2 players..
spider bot: What I so heavily dislike about it is how unpredictable and uncounterable it is 1) make it a one shot kill from any weapon and increase its hitbox, 2) when its on your face you dont need to look down with a short barrel gun to get it off. Maybe you can just melee it once 3) reduce its movement speed 4) make all friendly and enemy spider bots visible on the maps at all times so we can better prep for a spider bot encounter. i think if all these points were met, I wouldnt find spider bots so annoying, and they would still be just about as viable

Game feels decent but it’s the game modes, I want more game modes maybe snd, or party games, a non specialist mode. Also I’m sure you can’t do custom games which is stupid, since I’ve been trying to just do 1v1 with my friends.

I like xdefiant, I am having more fun on mw3 though. Sledge has been doing great this year, xdefiant would have been better to launch last year with mw2. Xdefiasnt doesn't have sbmm, but the team balance can be so strict it can basically feel similar or worse to cods eomm. Especially for solo players with good stats. I have a 2kd, 4k skill rating and the team balance can be so punishing. Then you play parties on top of that, and it won't even tell you you're against a party!? Would love to see a mercenary playlist in XD, I'd play it much more with a mode for solo players.

I live in the middle east, & Ubisoft have servers in Bahrain, so my ping in r6s is 50-70ms.
But for some unknown reason they didn't utilize these servers in this game, so the ping hovers between 140-270ms & the queue times are absolutely horrendous, i love this game, i just want a chance to fully experience it.
Obviously netcode needs big improvement but I also would like to mantle within reason, I should be able to get to a 2nd story w/o stairs (within reason). Also, I want killstreaks. They don't need to copy them but we need SOMETHING more to work towards while playing.

@TheXclusiveAce Found an issue, testet in the gun range with the SSR (used Holo sight) and found out that the bullet shoots slightly to the right of the reticle. Could be part of the hit res issue!
I'm still loving it, there are definitely some issues but I love how vocal the xdefiant team are and keeping the community updated on what's happening.
I'm still loving the game. Haven't enjoyed an FPS this much for years. Personally I'm very optimistic for the future. It's so nice to have a CoD-type arcade shooter without having to, y'know... deal with CoD.
I still haven't turned CoD since XD launched and in all seriousness I'll probably never play it again...or st least until they get rid of the eomm/sbmm crap. I'm only 70 hours of playtime in but I have improved so much it'd criminally insane. It took me weeks to finally have positive games and now I almost never have a negative k/d game.. and I only mention k/d because I've become a tdm ONLY player since they introduced it.

Stopped playing at level 75. The long time to kill + trash hit detection makes it very inconsistent to the point you can't trust your skills, and that's just frustrating

When they said they messed up and were going to fix it in an upcoming patch I took a little break. Now that the weapon xp came back feeling really good and there was a double xp weekend I was playing a lot. Season 1 coming I'm about to play a lot of it then too. The game feels just a little lacking in the rewards and content department and that led to fatigue as well

- Long level load sucks
- Dead behind walls sucks
- No damage sucks
- Spider sucks
- Jumping with 100% accurate sucks
But otherwise it's fun 🤡
What platform are you on? Level loading is pretty quick for me on pc, only time it took forever was when the server crashed. Wym no dmg? Everything else you're on point.

I think they might want add a “penalty” if the team are all using the same abilities. Like if more than 2 people are using the same ability the cool down so increase to avoid spam
I just enjoy hopping on and having fun and relaxing time. Maps flow very good and the gameplay combined with no SBMM feels really good and chill to play
What makes the spiderbot so annoying is that it:
1. blocks your view;
2. stuns you and slows you down (even before it attaches to you);
3. deals damage to you;
4. shows no indication on how to escape from it.
And that is simply way too many benefits for an ability that has a 30 second cooldown.
What I'd like to see changed is one of the followig:
1. Can be destroyed in 1 shot, either slow you down or deal damage, but not both. Keep cooldown at 30s.
2. Can be destroyed in multiple shots, either slow you down or deal damage, but not both. Change cooldown to 45s.
3. Can be destroyed in multiple shots, can slow you down and deal damage. Change cooldown to 60s.
Spider bot is useless
It’s better. But I do feel like the faction abilities are not very well-balanced. I would really like to have character specific abilities within the faction. I would also like to see my skins be interchangeable so that I could swap out different parts of my skins for my character so I don’t look just like everybody else on the battlefield.
Loving the game so far and it's 1000x better than COD - my one big request would be a nerf to the Cleaner's faction
Dying from incendiary bullets even though you killed them is frustrating alongside the fire bomb essentially being a panic button that requires no skill to activate yet can kill you instantly - other than that loving it

I love having a casual shooter that I actually look forward to jumping into solo. I play BF2042 and Hunt: Showdown with friends but having a good FPS to play with randoms is great. Loving XDefiant!
Its so refreshing to enjoy an arcade run and gun shooter without any wierd mechanics and sbmm after what feels like forever. The last time i enjoyed a cod this much was in BO3/4.
Bo4 was the shit I still play it on and off. The only cod I actually prestige mastered.
BO4 also had aggressive matchmaking.. arguably the first one to do it.

Thanks for the vid! I will say, as someone who used to love CoD, but stopped playing, I love the airstrafe mechanic. It's an EASILY accessible mechanic for all players to learn that isn't quite like jetpacks (because some will hate that), but adds a little spice to each engagement that discerns this from a strict CoD clone. I love that for now, but we will see! I think for people who understand L-stick aiming, this mechanic is very intuitive as well. It provides a small skill gap that everyone can use!
No it’s not good. It’s worse since the season 1 update. Absolute trash and unplayable. Nerf the fucking ACR already, more than half the lobby is using that OP shit.
This game launched at a perfrct time. I honestly dont know how this is going to go down in the next 3 to 4 weeks with other releases coming. In the FPS genre BO6 has the possibility of taking alot of the stage away from them. But... if they can fix the hit detection and netcode i think itll last. Im over 24hrs and its starting to bore me. The weapons being imbalanced makes it irritating to use anything but the 3 to 4 guns that actually work. If your up against a ACR or a MP7 with anything else your pretty much done for from the getgo.
Like honestly i get the hype, i understand COD is becoming more and more ugh to the orginal fanbase, but dont ignore that this game has major problems. That will actually kill it lmao. The only real thing this game has going for it , its free, its in a dryspell, and it has some unique ideas. Fix the shit or im dropping it soon

I feel like you had some good points on some of the issues like netcode and spiderbots. Other issues I find with the game are the firebomb, the grenade hit marker blocking my reticle making shooting harder, and would also like to see grenades on a timer instead of respawning and having one again which causes grenade spam.
Play some XDefiant and then go play some cod. You’ll be back on XDefiant so quickly after getting constantly killed by skill-less one shot weapons and people in Teletubby skins. Ubisoft is straight up doing cod better than cod in 2024.

Been playing since day 1 and still loving it currently like level 86. They had a me a bit worried with the xp change but after the patches and everything I’m very much looking forward to season 1

I’m in your same boat, only get to play 2-3 hours a week, not a fan of staying inside during my the summer months, but even then, I really enjoy playing this and gives me that old school BO1/MW3 vibes! Game is great, and once summer is over and I personally have more free time, I’ll be on this game 24/7

Just started playing a couple of days ago and I have 6.5 hours in, 1,8kd and 2,5W/L. Biggest issue with this game for me is that the characters feel weightless. The way you move can either be described as clunky or as if the characters are floating on the map. You do get used it it pretty quick though. EDIT: They REALLY need to add SND.

I played one of the betas a while back and felt a little meh about it overall. A couple friends invited me to try it with them ~3wks ago, and I'm _hooked_ now. It feels like such a breath of fresh air after _years_ of the player-abusive CoD cycle and soul-sucking, variety-squashing EOMM. In an average game, pretty much any weapon or utility feels viable, and you're forced to adapt on the fly because you actually encounter diverse lobbies. Why on earth would I go back to CoD? I do not miss sweating my cheeks off with meta builds to go dead even every game. That's what ✨ranked✨ is for.

Largely agree with everything you said, Ace. One other thing I'd add that they need to fix is player collisions. For some reason, player collisions are off for enemies but on for teammates, which just seems backwards.
Also, not something I expect they can fix at this point, but: Domination on Mayday is absolutely broken. I've found that it is very easy to defend B if your team is spawning behind the plane (and very difficult to push B if you're spawning on the other side), so whichever team happens to start there almost always wins the match unless you can force a spawn flip
I wish you would of talked about how the devs actually communicate to the player base and will listen to us.
I can say so far I haven’t had the best of luck with the game yet but I’m willing to keep giving it a try. My main thing is the spider bot and also I don’t know if anyone else is having issues with lagging but I get it big time. Also, I literally just got the game so I’ll give it some more time
Echelon player here. Yes while i agree the Intel Suit needs nerfing, I don't think it should be nerfed in a way that it make the ability useless for team play (meaning for objectives where you need to play together with the team such as Zone Control or Domination). I think a 3-5 sec reduction to its duration and increasing the cooldown to 35-40 seconds is quite enough to balance this ability. Making the Intel Suit only showing the snapshot of the enemy in the moment of a pulse is also a good idea, but i think making the intel suit wallhack be only seen by the Echelon player will massively hurt the class in team play.
yes... but the stability with the net code and the boot back to matchmaking with every match makes the game drag.
We need the spider bot to be like BO3’s Tempest drone where you could quick time it and wouldn’t be hindered nearly as much
I’m enjoying it a lot. I didn’t really like CoD and was mostly a Battlefield and Division 2 player. XDefiant has just enough that it feels like there is enough variety and fun that you can hop in and have a few good matches and chill.
i like to see how this game is evolving, and fast at that.
Netcode and hit detection still need some work tho...

Honestly can't stop playing the game. 80 hours play time and I've improved so much. Skill rating above 2800 and 2.0 KD with a 1.2 win loss. All this with solo play since day one, only thing I need is console only crossplay as PS5 is a much better experience than Xbox in UK.

Regarding the wall hack balance. I 100% agree. I honestly think they should increase the range and duration slightly but only have 1 pulse go out if that makes sense. It really feels like 3 pulses of it is wayyy to much time for the pace this game plays at and I really think it should be one of the more powerful abilities with a much longer cooldown time. Also 100% agree with the spider bot (god it is so annoying). They need to make the spider bigger and way easier to hit for starters. Second it shouldn’t even be doing damage if we are being honest. The amount of times I’ve been spiderbotted and gotten the kill only to watch my health drop by 2 ticks until I eventually die just feels off. I won the gunfight but I still lost? It wouldn’t be a problem if it didn’t happen all the time but when it’s literally every game where someone’s using spider bot it gets annoying. Also I know the cleaner passive has a similar concept but it’s slightly less op since we can actually still see our screen, aim, and move.

I feel like XDefiant is actually just well made. Everything annoying is mostly that, annoying. Nothing is a deal breaker.
Sure, jump and crouch spam is still prevalent, sniper flinch doesn't feel as impactful and some abilities feel overused, but overall it's still enjoyable. I think the only flawed design is that EMP grenades are basically required to play in higher skilled lobbies. It just provides too much utility for how over centralized abilities are.
I also do think most issues come from the server, not the game. Like people have issues with the spiderbot. You can just look down and shoot but sometimes it visually doesn't latch on your face. And snipers not flinching much when you shoot them but that's probably more because the server didn't register every hit before the sniper took the shot. If the servers get an upgrade to their tickrates, these issues will go away.
But...but what do you mean I have to deal with annoying things in my free to play Ubisoft call of doodie smoosh bros. game? :'( Lol all jokes aside I think you're right, the game is good overall and just has small problems that I think should be addressed like regarding faction abilities and getting shot around corners. I can see the potential in the game and I'm hoping for Rabbids, maybe South Park, and (dare I say it) Might and Magic...assuming Ubisoft still owns it :')
Haven't played a CoD since BO3. Super fun so far and its revived my video game addiction. I wish there were more penalties for jumping and squatting while shooting.
Agree on the echelon ability, that the wallhacks should only be for the player using the ability and not the whole team. As for the spider bot, the most annoying part is that it sometimes doesn't work to look down and shoot it off. I guess it must be a glitch?
