-The man who played Akeem's father was James Earl Jones. He died earlier this year. He played the voice of Darth Vader and also the voice of Mufasa in the Lion King.
-The man who played the father and owner of the restaurant is John Amos. He died earlier this year.
-There man who was an employee washing the lettuce was Louie Anderson
-You guys already recognized Samuel Jackson
-The two men playing the two homeless men that Akeem gave a bag of money to was a reference to the movie "Trading Places." Please put that movie on your list to watch.
-And yes, both Arsenio Hall and Eddie Murphy played several rolls in this movie

great post on the cast. I have some notes to add:
--John Amos, Lisa's father, was famous to US audiences as the father James Evans on the comedy-drama show Good times. He also played the adult Kunte Kinte in the legendary 1977 Roots. He just died recently. He was a legend.
--Eddie Murphy played several roles in the movie and in a lot of his other movies like the Nutty Professor.
--Arsenio Hall and Murphy were friends; Arsenio also plays multiple roles in the film. Arsenio was well known to US audiences as a comedian and a late night talk show host
--The queen was also John Amos' co star in Roots as the wife of Kunta Kinte
--Lisa was a well known fashion/cosmetics model
--this movie has a recent sequel that is available on screening sites. It was only ok. it was not funny like the original which is considered a comedy classic in the US.
--the two old men who were homeless and who say we are back were characters in an earlier Eddie Murphy hit film, Trading Places. They lose all their money at the end of that film and so that is why they say they are back.
--the Soul Glo is a joke about the jheri curl hair style that was greasy in the 80s. It was super popular.
      Great reaction as always.

Hey in case you guys didnt know the king (James Earl Jones) did the voice for Darth Vader in all the Star Wars movies. Also the part in the restaurant where the guy says "I'm washing lettuce, soon I'll be on fries, and that's when the big bucks start rolling in" is a legendary movie quote that people still use today! So funny

Concord was a supersonic passenger plane ( 1350 mph, 2170 km/h ). It broke the sound barrier that is like 700mph. An Air France flight in 2000 crashed on take off and they never operated again.
Nietzsche was a german philosopher in the 1800s, and a bit crazy, he is referenced a fair bit in our culture. Very famous for some resson.

I'm really glad to see your displeasure at the representation and disrespect for women in the movie. Even though it was made pretty long ago, women fought for opportunities and lots of barriers had been broken.
Young men, regardless of culture, keep evolving in terms of how they relate to women in the workplace and at home.

As people have mentioned, the Prince's dad was played by James Earl Jones. He was a Lieutenant in the Army (this was not easy for Black people at the time) and he was certified as a Ranger, which is an elite kind of soldier. When he passed away this year, they sold off the vast collection of guns he had amassed over the years: for example, of approximately 175 WA2000 sniper rifles ever made, 10 were imported to the US and Jones owned two. An American icon.

Concord was the world's fastest passenger plane ever made. However, it was a bit of a "hanger queen", meaning it needed as much maintenance as many combat aircraft. It just wasn't economically sound .. so inferior to slower but much cheaper and more reliable vehicles. Nice idea .. in theory. But sometimes theories just don't mesh with reality too good.

Another great movie of his Field of Dreams if you haven’t seen it yet definitely worth it. He also had a small role in each of the Jack Ryan movies. Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger (not sure the correct order of those last two, they are technically a trilogy. Action movies about a CIA Officer) Jones plays CIA director. All very good movies.

Eddie Murphy played the prince, The barber that actually cut his hair, the white guy in the barbershop, and the lead singer of sexual chocolate. Have you ever thought to try to move to southern Europe? I mean, Italy or France, for example? Maybe for Algerians France is better, but there are a lot of arabs here in south Europe.
You would be in a wealthier country, and moreover you could gain money and a passport to go to US whenever you want, as a turist, because departuring from Europe is not like departuring from a northern african country, once you land in US. They take in count where you come from. Then, you can try to figure out how to move permanently to US if you want, but since it's already difficult to move there permanently for us europeans, it's impossible to do that directly from Algeria, unless you have saved a lot of money and have a good sponsor there who needs you for a formal job.

@@lillybart-s9i You must be joking, right? I said it's their choice to censor them for religious reasons. How is that in any way disrespecting them or their channel? This was in response to what ztomas1 said. I'm assuming you meant to address him. Please be more careful when coming to snap judgments and try to properly understand what someone was trying to convey. I said it was their choice to do so. How is that disrespecting their channel? That goes for the people who liked your comment.

Ohhh no! You guys always cut it off too soon! You missed the final joke mixed in when the cerdits were rolling! You have to edit your stuff better because a lot of movies...ESPECIALLLY 1980s and some 1990s have outtakes with jokes at the end of very funny classic references to those movies. Be more mindful next time. Those of us who not only grew up on this BUT with Eddie Murphys career and him starting out ovdr here, he lived 2 towns away and we went to the same college but went during different trars...we're watching you and hoping you get the FULL enjoyment. But you kind of robbed yourselves at the end you see. So it makes us feel sad you missed out. ❤ #NYGenXBIKERLady

No, the one with the Beard was played by Arsenio Hall. And there was one actor in there wasn't Eddie or Arsenio.

@@wayneel8656 I understand. Eddie Murphy is very good. It's easy to assume he did all of them. Even the Jewish guy in the barber shop was played by Eddie Murphy.
