Dry Point Print and my mini USB cordless grinder... (I loved the result)

- Today a dry point print. In this video I use a mini USB cordless grinder tool to create a drypoint plate on a Perspex sheet. I am, of course, also using a drypoint needle for some finer detail. What's really cool about this, is that the ground areas of my printing plate came out with some lovely mid-tones. I also use sandpaper to add some other tones and textures to the final print.
Ink: Black Intaglio
Paper: Somerset 300g
Press: Polymetaal HS-35 Tabletop Etching Press
Grinder: Ginour Cordless mini Grinder
Drypoint printing is a traditional printmaking technique that creates an image by pressing a metal or etching needle directly onto the surface of an intaglio plate. The process can be traced back to the early 16th century and was developed as a way for artists to create prints without using expensive copper plates, which were more commonly used in engraving.
In this blog post, I will introduce you to dry point printing and give you some information on how it works.

*I don't have the green one. I WANT THAT ONE ha ha ha.
It’s really good and it’s USB charged
...Wow! How did I miss this one!!! I use my dremel rotary multitool for almost everything... and I've got about 10 of them. 2 desktop dremels with a cord attachment and then all the portable ones. I've got a magnetic rack to attach all those little bit heads to. So wonderful to see someone else using one. I've got exactly that one as well; with the same box - I found it on Aliexpress.
That happened to orions belt from yesterday? I thought it was a twisted vetical feather thin belt with a village bend on it to cover the girls with the baby so there could be a slip and a butterfly could be released? 😂
Regards
Slimer ghost buster which then became a elephant kettle with a ear trunk spout of some kind😂 while the thick horizontal feather side the tribe of the frog could get away
You really need to stop sending me middle fingers
Regards shiva 🖕
So cool
That came out really great! Thanks for showing! Do you have any experience how many times you can print using acrylic? Is it comparable to copper/zinc?
@@tombraun7235 thank you 🙏 Acrylic is very durable so I think you could get quite a few prints
This produces a great result and has inspired me to buy the same tool. I’m about to start experimenting but can I ask - do you find there are particular attachments you use more than others to create effects?
Thank you, glad you found the video useful. I probably use the pointy attachment the most
This is beautiful. Do you have an Instagram please ?
Thank you so much 🙏. Yes I do @marta_ds_art
drypoint is one of my favorite techniques, nice to see the results from using the cordless grinder.
Yes it gives a different result from just using a needle
...I use it not only for engraving, but also I found a way to use it for relief prints, i.e. the primer method to oil cloths. None of my combination relief/dry points with metal primer have worn out yet and I used the dremel to make them all.
Ido’t understand what the primer method to oil cloths means
@@eg1art4life In the text of the link I just posted, I forgot to say that the relief was made by grinding the dried primer down with a dremel rotary multitool!
I love the tones you achieved with the grinder Marta. Very cool (-: Marion
Thank you 🙏
Also, I don't think I said this about the Cricut plotter (because I only discovered it a few days ago). The plotter engraves into surfaces and I sent through a really complex design with a piece of mylar-like plastic. The engraving is just incredible and I almost don't want to make a print of it I love it so much.
Sometimes the plate can look better than a print 😁
What the gun powder plot? 😂 yeah I don't believe in murdering anyone but as for the game it will be played as it should
I tried my Zing cutter for that years ago, but I found the burrs gave too soft a line when printed. Maybe the Cricut makes crisper lines.
Great idea :)
Thank you! 😊
Excellent(not pants!)
Ha ha thank you ☺️
Impressive !
Thank you 🙏
