Oh thank you SO much for this! Been looking all over the web for this, all I wanted was to make an indent in the page or an emboss, I didn't want to scrape out an image, and it was so tough to find the process of doing that... thank you for this, this is really going to take my art to the next level!
thanks for explaining this process, i'd heard of it for most of my life but didn't have an understanding of it. i'm really inspired & ready to try it. best wishes for the new year.
Thank you for sharing your process! It will be fun to try, is the photo you are tracing simply filtered in black and white? Or is there some additional filtering like posturization in photo shop giving you simpler values?
Are you referring to the etching tool? It was purchased, you can find different etching tools at Blick. You can use anything that will scratch the plexiglass. I printed on cold pressed watercolor paper.
Putting the paper in a wet pack or a tub of water is the first thing I do before I set up to print. This gives the paper enough time to soak up enough water to not be wavy or blotchy. Then I always blot the paper well prior to printing.
In this video, we are scratching the surface of the plexiglass to create the etching. This is essentially just like engraving. Yes, you can feel the texture of the image in the plexiglass.
The plexiglass I sourced is from an old ikea frame and is thin. If you use thicker plexiglass you will need to file and burnish the edges so it won’t cut into the paper when you press.
Very helpful video and lovely outcome. Thank you!
Glad you liked it. Thanks 😊

Really enjoyable to see your process! A very accessible method. TFS!!

Wow. This was very informative. Show us how to make the felt tool? What paper did you print on?

Great video, thanks. If you want to print several copies, do you always have to reink and clean before printing?
Yes, you have apply ink and wipe for each print.
Thank you for the video - how long did you soak the paper before using it?

The ink is oil ink or acrylic ink??Thank you. Very helpful video.
It is a soap and water washable oil ink.
Hallo kindly I was asking is etching same as engraving and does the etched image have texture feel

@@starlustudio1498 I get you but am asking do you feel the texture on the paper after printing not in the plexiglass
@@craveilmugoh.2387 Sorry, I must have misunderstood your question. No, you do not fee the texture on the paper after printing.
@@starlustudio1498 OK thank you for your answers be blessed
How thick is the plexiglass?
