cause the are. All of them- He really appreciates his band
Seriously, Dave literally somehow assembled a "Super Group" right out of the gate.
So many people don't understand how amazing this band is. People are so quick to turn their nose up on them. Maybe because of Crash Into Me or Dave's image of something. But how can you deny this incredible musicianship, jamming, songwriting, etc.
I'm sure 99.9% of people who claim not to like Dave have never heard them really jam like this. It's powerful and you can't honestly say it isn't. these guys play real music, and they respect music.
This jam was sick. Amazing horn solos in the intro. Funky outtro jam. Tim knew to lay back for this one and let the others shine. Dave patiently let the intro grow into an amazing climax.
But The horns were so in sync, one would start their solo with the last riff the other played. Killer phrasing. If Miles Davis played that trumpet solo, people would have sh*t their pants. And I've listened to hundreds of hours of miles and love everything he did. But still, if he pulled off that solo people would have said it was one of the best he's played. These guys are good.

I was in my 30's, back in the 90's, when I fell upon DMB. A friend told me to watch and listen to this, he lent me the Central Park concert DVD. I was instantly hooked and have since seen them live a few times. One must see them live to truly appreciate the quality of musicians and timing this band has.

Everything is always played different every time...Every song. They show how skilled each individual person is and The Dave Matthews Band a great group of musicians who make it look easy. Carter on drums takes this band to another level above most bands to date.
No one can ever replace LeRoi, but I notice it takes two people to even get close. RIP, LeRoi.

Carters momentum is impeccable. Up and down, soft and steady.
His odd time signatures are hands down some of the best in the business.
He drives the entire bands pace and speed at all times.
That is what drew me to this band many years ago. The whole band is really good but Carter stood out from the beginning.
Man I love the way they jazz up these old classics. Cannot imagine the band sounding any better than they have the past 2 years.
I can.... I mean yes they sound good, but nobody with ANY GOOD CONSCIENCE can say that this band, one I've been the biggest fan of for 25 years, sounds the best or better without Boyds violin.... it doesnt!!! The sound of his violin is what made this band more than just a rock band or whatever category u wanna use.. the violin is what made them this distinct type of music because nobody had that special sauce of a sound and it makes them stand very distinctly apart from every other band wihh guitars, drums, horns, piano/organ and a lead singer..... when those violin notes starts to creep in and build into a mesmerizing crescendo of notes by THE Boyd Tinsley it's the absolute best fucking sound an sends chills down my spine.... @@TB-dt6db eh I disagree, in all fairness I've only been a fan for about 15 years, I dont have the seniority as a lot of old dave fans, but I think the way the band has evolved the past few years has really catered to at least my tastes. The group is a lot more of a tight jam band whereas back in the day they might be classified as more world/roots. I like both. The violin certainly is missed from a few specific songs like Ants, pig, warehouse, tbh, although I must say the way the band does warehouse live the past few years sounds simply fucking incredible. The best live dave song is warehouse from the concert for Charlottesville from 2017. They did the song in the fashion they do it now and boyd was still playing. I cant say boyd was my favorite part of every song though, sometimes his solos got pretty repetitive andok monotonous, like in crush for instance.

I cannot put into words how much Carter means to me. Dave has the voice of a fricken angel and i have so much admiration towards him, imo he is the best singer in our modern times. Carter has blown my mind constantly. I Cannot explain my gratitude for the Dave Matthews band. Literally changed my life. Stefan is an absolute beast, Rashawn is a freaking beast, and Butch taylor is a genius. Thank you all. you are all phenomenal.! my sincerest gratitude!

@@jwukulele I think I'd like to see them. I mean I have a jist of how things went down but I've never seen them. I trust that the band did what needed to be done to protect the integrity of the band, but without knowing 💯 what went down its hard not to miss that exquisite sound that only Boyd had. Not defending the man or in any way condoning his actions (just wanted to make that clear). I'm only saying that I miss the sound of him accompanying the rest of these amazing musicians with his instrument.

Oh my goodness that solo by Buddy was insane when he cranked it up! Then Carter knows the time to get into the style he's playing and Tim and Stefan get going. My god. It's a beautiful thing.
I wish Buddy would play a bit louder, or they would turn his channel up. His funky little additions to this are perfect. Turn him up!

My honest thoughts: I really used to enjoy that Celtic-sounding Boyd improv in this tune when the jam section starts. This jazz piano stuff is alright, but that Celtic violin stuff just had the coolest dark mysterious vibe to it, reminded me of an espionage movie
