@@TJWhite-ig5vf ... Many of their songs seem to hold that 1st place position at one time or another. But I love love love this. It is a masterpiece as said.

Just everything about this song amazes me, the basslines, the fact that it is in 7/8, this song is prog as hell and the lyrics are really cool and beautiful. A lot of artists should look up to DMB when it comes to arrangement. These guys are musical geniuses.
I think some people sometimes put too much emphasis on time signatures. 7/8 isn’t difficult, and time signatures or time sig changes themselves are not difficult for professional musicians. With that said, I agree with everything else you say. Dmb is known for the song Crash and assume it’s a pop band, yet the band is incredibly jazzy and funky; and obviously extremely talented as a group of musicians, especially Jeff Coffin and Carter. People do write it off.. but whatever, more pit tickets for us
I'm an UBER driver, as such I listen to you guys all the time when I'm driving. Mostly because you guys are amazing and neutral enough that I won't get complaints from my riders. I can easily see heads exploding if I were to play Dream Theater or The Mars Volta. I digress. The other day I got the chance to turn one of my riders on to you guys. He had never listened to DMB even though his parents had named him after you. His name was David Matthew Whatever. He got in my car started groovin, and he say the display on the dash. He asked me if we were listening to DMB and went on to elaborate about his parents naming him after you.
This song is absolutely AMAZING!!! The syncopation between the strings reminds me of some of the thigs thar Robert Fripp and King Crimson do. Each member playing 3 notes of a VERY intricate melody. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@awacsmye3 a lot of people seem to get bothered by carter's drum playing here, since he plays over the bar a lot, and that the groove isn't as easy to feel for them. This has to be my favourite DMB warm up video to date. This is, IMO, not only an incredible performance of Dreaming Tree but 15 minutes of the most incredible live music I have seen by any band, ever. The audio and video quality are superb too. Thanks for going to the effort to do this for us guys.
YES. The live fade-out is something I've only seen DMB perfect, and they do it so well. The horn part a couple minutes from the end sounded a little like "chocolate rain" lol...but the camera angle of Dave's eyes fading over Carter's drumkit was fucking beautiful. Gorge 2016!
Not sure if i could take hearing this live. Leaves me a weeping mess just sitting at home most of the time. Unbelievable song, the second versus is fucking incredible...

Sooo good all round and then Jeff strings me out with that pennywhistle

It's definitely the most underrated DMB song. I wish they would make more like this one.
Dave Matthews Band - The Dreaming Tree (Live At Piedmont Park) the best version. by very far!
Dave is still happy singing. Look at him with originals DMB just pure Joy, you can feel it.
Best 15 minutes of my life spent watching this video. 🌴🎄🌳🌱🍂🍃

Best whistle solo ever.
What a pennywhistle solo! Love it!
is that a pennywhistle, or a picollo?
Jesse Redondo it’s definitely an Irish penny whistle aka tin whistle.
Piccolos are played to the side similar to a flute
He captures a sense of longing which the song describes.
Happen to know what pitch the penny whistle is? 'D', 'Bb' maybe?
This is a special band. Man, that was cathartic.

Standing here
The old man said to me:
"Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree"
Below it he would sit
For hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find
And now he's falling hard
And feels the falling dark
How he longs to be
Beneath his dreaming tree
Conquered fear to climb
The moment froze in time
When the girl who first he kissed
Promised him she'd be his
Remembered Mother's words
There beneath the tree:
"No matter what the world
You'll always be my baby"
Mommy, come quick
The dreaming tree has died
Can't find my way home
I have no place to hide
The dreaming tree has died
Oh, have you no pity?
This thing I do
I do not deny it
All through this smile
As crooked as danger
I do not deny
I know in my mind
I would leave you now
If I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk?
Can you take pity?
I don't ask for much
But won't you speak, please?
From the start
She knew she had it made
Easy up 'til then
For sure she'd make the grade
Adorers came in hordes
To lay down in her way
She gave it all she had
And treasures slowly faded
Now, she's falling hard
She feels the fall of dark
How did this fall apart?
She drinks to fill the dark
A smile as sweet as flowers
Wilted so and soured
Black tears stain the cheeks
That once were so admired
She thinks when she was small
There on her father's knee
How he had promised her:
"You'll always be my baby"
Daddy, come quick
The dreaming tree has died
I can't find my way home
There is no place to hide
The dreaming tree has died
Oh, if I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk?
Can you take pity?
I don't ask for much
Won't you speak, please?
