@@kathleenvigliano9642I think it boils down to realizing the other things need to be built on your marriage, not the other way around. It’s very easy to give everything to the kids and keeping the home, cooking, etc, but when it comes down to it, you only have so much energy. Just like Lisa was saying about spending your time and energy on less important things, like making a list, it’s better to spend the same time and energy to just get the important task done. Just like you know it’s more urgent to feed the kids than to vacuum the rug, it’s more urgent to have a time of connection with your husband than to do a lot of other things. Husbands are usually able to overlook a lot of other things that haven’t gotten done if they are fulfilled in their connection to their wives and that often starts with time alone in the bedroom.
Another issue may be that a woman doesn’t save time and energy for intimate time with her husband because there are problems associated with her relationship with her husband. In that case, I would greatly encourage seeking out a Christian counselor, and don’t stop seeking until you find a good one that helps. If your husband won’t go, go yourself.

The struggle is mostly that I always have at least 1 child saying my name & needing/wanting something or needs help. It's hard to even have a complete thought without being interrupted let alone get a taskfully completed without forgetting what I was doing bc I was interrupted so many times or just discouraged bc it then feels never ending.

I am really enjoying your last few vlogs. I work outside the home, mom of 4 and homestead. I often have the feeling that I'm not doing a good enough job at any if these, not getting enough done in any place. I fight that constant guilt bc I know deep down, this is a journey and I'll never reach a place where I feel I've accomplished enough in any arena. Your videos are such good reminders that that's not the goal. That's its normal to never have the laundry done or the house actually cleaned up enough, oetc and that it's supposed to be a life long process. And we have to enjoy the process instead of focusing on getting a certain thing accomplished. Thank you

I REALLY love that you left the audio of you moving around the kitchen in for this video! I watch your channel, as well as a few other similar channels about homemaking/simple living and I'm always finding that my own home doesn't feel quite as peaceful or idyllic or calm as the videos. It began to make me feel like I was missing something or my mindset wasn't right. But NOPE, it's just the sound! My kitchen gets so LOUD with the sounds of dishes going into the sink and the bowls bumping each other and the sound of frying. Of COURSE it's not gonna feel the same as the videos I watch on UA-cam with no sound and relaxing music playing, making everything feel so calm and quiet and relaxed. This video gave me a freaking epiphany, as obvious as it should've been before. So THANK YOU. ❤❤❤

If you have a tile floor, adding a scattering of task rugs around, hanging fabric curtains or honeycomb shades on all the windows, adding a large wooden chopping block or any other large wooden items onto your counter, using wooden bowls, and eliminating excess glass or tile items, can help soften the sound. Just a thought because sometimes the layout and the materials used in a space can make it intolerably loud even when you are just performing simple everyday tasks.

I love how you've organized some 'go to" recipes, with ingredients that you can predict might be available at the end of the week. These "odd lot" ingredients are waste in many households but need not be, if they can be incorporated into other recipes.
In my case, I've organized ingredients by flavorings: Northern European recipes tend to be creamy ones, Mediterranean ones tend to be tomato based, and there are a hole host of flavors in between.
Also, you mentioned cooking with lard - an almost taboo ingredient in this day and age. I have my spouse; who does most of the actual grilling; keep all the animal fat. We then date it, and freeze it for rendering in later dishes. I call these animal butters.
Imagine lamb fat, flavoring a mixture of celery, onion and garlic (all three I grow); and then stirred into left over rice; or pasta; to give any dish a French flair. Or beet leaves or Swiss chard (which I also grow) cooked in rendered pork butter; with adobo seasoning; to give tacos its own Ole!
But you're right; its all in the organization. And the busier I am, the more I appreciate ideas on organization. Right now, I'm in the process of grouping spices by flavor profiles: fish, Indian, Provence and such. Currently, I reach for small boxes in my pantry; with spices grouped together. If I'm cramped for time, I'll do the cook, based on what my spouse is grilling; and we'll have a variety of ways to consume our food.
Thx. for all the tips on the "business of living". Households should be run with business efficiency. It helps the family thrive.

Of course this is for me too! All of us can fall into putting things off...but sometimes if we just get started it unlocks something and before you know it progress has been made....Hang in there.

Lisa, you and your sister are troopers. You guys keep going 😅 I wish I had your energy ❤ do you have any plans to add on to your house? Such as more bedrooms? You've done so much, I remember when you guys put an offer in on this farmhouse. 😊

"making lists to procrastinate actually doing the thing on the list"...ouch! Guilty. Feels productive cause its now organized and out of my head instead of it all floating around up there. However, very rarely does everything on the list ever get done, because of how sidetracked I get by toddler "emergencies" or things that are just more interesting. So ultimately, other than a few loads of laundry, the house is still messy and I feel like I've gotten nothing done. Thanks for the tips

"procrasticlean".....what a perfect term for a real life situation.....I really need to clean my oven.....the reason why I "hate" cleaning my oven is it's like working underneath your car in odd positions....so if Luke is still burning stuff from your old files, I'm bringing my oven over to be burned in that same pile, and calling it good....bye-bye oven....

I can relate to so many things you said. I couldn't help but chuckle when you said something about over cleaning, not having a problem with that. I'm a list maker and a planner, but so many times because I do work outside the home, that my homemaking kind of takes a back seat. Oh I make my own breads, cook my meals all the time, but when I come home mentally exhausted from work, the last thing I want to do is clean my home. My husband helped me last weekend on a few things so now it isn't so overwhelming. Those pork chops look good. One easy way I had been fixing them is to dip in egg and then parmesan cheese and fry in the skillet. So good!

Lisa, You might like a ruggable or other washable runner in front of your kitchen sink. I don't have 8 kids but I do have dogs and grandkids and having a rug I can throw in the washer is a game changer. I so agree with just doing things as they pop up, last summer I walked by the same giant dandelion weed three days in a row thinking 'I need to get rid of that' finally I was like GEEZ, just go get the dandelion digger and get rid of it already, lol. Some little chores only take a minute, then they're off the list. Great video as always, thanks!
