Yes, I'd say people had their dreams affected by the media they consumed. Your dreams are heavily linked to the information you processed during the day, as that's a large part of how your brain organizes new information and memories, so if you consumed mass amounts of B&W media then dreams regarding processing that very media being B&W makes total sense. We dream about what we experience, and we experience a reality of color which is why our dreams are normally in color. However, if we got a massive amount of B&W visual information (like if you watch B&W movies, or are a special kind of color blind) then what the game talks about makes sense.
I know the "WAIT.... Useless." moment is the highlight of this stream - but Joe making fun of Makoto's duel of the minds at 3:37:15 had me in tears upon re-watching this stream.
I never understood from the stream compilations that the two useless scenes are pretty literally back to back. With that added bit of context, I know understand why joe got so mad
It's unfortunate that they tried to give Makoto a sympathetic reason to be seen as a 'bad guy' but then make her needlessly antagonistic as soon as she talks to the group.
I personally think Cherami Leigh's performance of Makoto is a lot meaner than the JP counterpart. I didn't get that at all from Rina Sato... I'm 2 years late from playing the game and end just decided to play it w/ Japanes audio on my first playthrough. Imagine my surprise when I found Makoto sound like a mean bitch in English early on.
I feel like Makoto has more serious issues than her voice acting. Even if she had a nicer voiceover, I'd still dislike her for taking away all of the other characters' screentime without developing in any meaningful way.

Makoto gets my vote for most useful party member. Her damage is a little low but shes got excellent support skills and is tanky. She also has the best weapon set (her best weapon gives +10 all stats, brokeeeen)
RaineTCG she’s be viable (stronger than morgana, the other healer) without it. She has more hp, marakukaja, and better elementals affinities. The only reason to use morgana is if you like him and dislike makoto as a character (like me) and because mercurius is a freaking badass (even though you only get him for one freaking day). Having the +10 stat gun (equivalent to 16 levels) in addition to that is just overkill and proves to me she is developer waifu
the pancake line being heard by akechi was such a subtle hint I didn't notice it at first. mentioning pancakes means that he heard morgana, which proves that he's already been to the metaverse. very good writing. looks like joe only half picked up on it.

She doesn't have much of an evidence, but Principal Kobayakawa is already reaching as it is it's not hard to see him using even the recordings as an excuse to expel them anyway. With Waffles', Ryuji's and Ann's background they wouldn't even be able to sue the school back. Terrible as it is, they're pretty much backed into a corner. Funny how Kaneshiro's involvement actually made more sense than Madarame's when the artist is actually more important to the story due to his relationship with Yusuke.

I think the bathroom comment is an in-joke from earlier games. In 3 and 4, you could be in bad, good or great condition, depending on recent events. Going to the bathroom had a chance to bump your condition up a notch. Things like staying up too late could lead to being in a bad condition the next day. Enemies would land critical hits on you more easily in that state. Likewise, being in great condition would make you land crits much more often.
As much as I praise the writing for this game's storyline, they seriously failed when writing Ann. They did her so dirty, honestly it's exhausting to watch her be objectified again and again.

Welcome to SMT-style combat systems. Most fights are one turns because unlike most RPGs where the enemy has high HP And low dmg, while the player has low HP and high dmg, stats in SMT-type games are very similar between enemy and allies. You are often in a fight vs. relative equal strengths in random battles so the battles are actual close struggles instead of a no-threat grind.
The writing in this is something special. They sometimes make the Scooby Doo gang from P4 seem like geniuses. Hell, they even have a van. Let me go over what I know from watching these streams - So at first, the whole Phantom Thief thing was that they don't leave evidence, who's going to find out what happens in the metaverse, etc. Makes sense. Then they have to send out a calling card to get the treasure to materialize so that whole untraceable thing goes right out the window. Granted, they still aren't committing any crimes. I certainly can't think of anything that they could be charged with but the game and the populace in the game still treats them like criminals. So then the kids want to be famous to I guess get people to come out and ask for help or something but honestly it seems like they really just want attention. Famous criminals are short lived criminals but maybe this isn't that far fetched. I've seen people post videos of themselves committing crimes to their social media with their real names and faces. People like to talk and most criminals historically weren't caught on hard evidence but rather confessions or technicalities like Ryuji and company screaming about how they're the Phantom Thieves at the top of his lungs. Then they go into the Metaverse right in a public square. Did they forget how Ann got pulled in just by standing nearby? Granted she had other circumstances as well but still. On top of that whole disappearing in plain sight. I'm hoping at some point later in the game it explains why there are so many shitty people though. It seems like most characters have either been victims that refuse to stick their neck out or shitty people like the Principal. So far only the Trudeau case has been somewhat well written because incidents like that have happened where everyone just keeps their head down. The second case was extremely weak and the whole TV station bit isn't inspiring confidence. The introduction and the whole conversation with Sae doesn't work for me either. No defense lawyer present? Talking to a prosecutor that are already acting like you're guilty? It's like a tv crime drama where people forget to call their lawyers. Again what are they charging him with? But I suppose it's Japan which has a very different legal system. JP police beating a suspect I can definitely see since I remember reading something about how they can hold people somewhat indefinitely without charges and tend to force people to sign confessions.
Remember that Morgana needs them to gain more recognition to reach the depth of Momentos and figure out the source of the distortion. Furthermor, the calling cards are technically threats. I'm pretty sure you could get in trouble for that. Characters being dumpasses is not indicative of bad writing. It just means that PT are dump teenagers. The writing takes notice of their stupidity and punishes them for it. This is also why Ryuji is my least favorite. I'll be honest, i too was like "okay, the calling cards complecate things, can they do it discreetly?.....Oh, F#$k. Nevermind. No wonder Joker got caught at the beginning." But that is the bezt way to go about it. It really just means the characters are different from us.
CristalAAH doesn't cheat or look stuff up when playing Persona. It actually makes me nervous because social stats are hard to rank up and you know this will effect how much time you have to max out social links/confidants 😅😆

@@ashhh456 aw heck yea! In P5R theres a major point where akechi talks to protag about how he visited the bath house often as a kid, along with some heavy lore about why he did/his past. I know the player said it here as a joke because of bath house stats, but it's also so funny to me that his comment is legit accurate in a way nobody should have been able to pinpoint this early on, hes like YEARS ahead with this comment and he has no idea 😂

I think the bathroom comment is an in-joke from earlier games. In 3 and 4, you could be in bad, good or great condition, depending on recent events. Going to the bathroom had a chance to bump your condition up a notch. Things like staying up too late could lead to being in a bad condition the next day. Enemies would land critical hits on you more easily in that state. Likewise, being in great condition would make you land crits much more often.

Welcome to SMT-style combat systems. Most fights are one turns because unlike most RPGs where the enemy has high HP And low dmg, while the player has low HP and high dmg, stats in SMT-type games are very similar between enemy and allies. You are often in a fight vs. relative equal strengths in random battles so the battles are actual close struggles instead of a no-threat grind.

The writing in this is something special. They sometimes make the Scooby Doo gang from P4 seem like geniuses. Hell, they even have a van. Let me go over what I know from watching these streams - So at first, the whole Phantom Thief thing was that they don't leave evidence, who's going to find out what happens in the metaverse, etc. Makes sense. Then they have to send out a calling card to get the treasure to materialize so that whole untraceable thing goes right out the window. Granted, they still aren't committing any crimes. I certainly can't think of anything that they could be charged with but the game and the populace in the game still treats them like criminals. So then the kids want to be famous to I guess get people to come out and ask for help or something but honestly it seems like they really just want attention. Famous criminals are short lived criminals but maybe this isn't that far fetched. I've seen people post videos of themselves committing crimes to their social media with their real names and faces. People like to talk and most criminals historically weren't caught on hard evidence but rather confessions or technicalities like Ryuji and company screaming about how they're the Phantom Thieves at the top of his lungs. Then they go into the Metaverse right in a public square. Did they forget how Ann got pulled in just by standing nearby? Granted she had other circumstances as well but still. On top of that whole disappearing in plain sight.
I'm hoping at some point later in the game it explains why there are so many shitty people though. It seems like most characters have either been victims that refuse to stick their neck out or shitty people like the Principal. So far only the Trudeau case has been somewhat well written because incidents like that have happened where everyone just keeps their head down. The second case was extremely weak and the whole TV station bit isn't inspiring confidence. The introduction and the whole conversation with Sae doesn't work for me either. No defense lawyer present? Talking to a prosecutor that are already acting like you're guilty? It's like a tv crime drama where people forget to call their lawyers. Again what are they charging him with? But I suppose it's Japan which has a very different legal system. JP police beating a suspect I can definitely see since I remember reading something about how they can hold people somewhat indefinitely without charges and tend to force people to sign confessions.
Remember that Morgana needs them to gain more recognition to reach the depth of Momentos and figure out the source of the distortion.
Furthermor, the calling cards are technically threats. I'm pretty sure you could get in trouble for that.
Characters being dumpasses is not indicative of bad writing.
It just means that PT are dump teenagers.
The writing takes notice of their stupidity and punishes them for it.
This is also why Ryuji is my least favorite.
I'll be honest, i too was like "okay, the calling cards complecate things, can they do it discreetly?.....Oh, F#$k. Nevermind. No wonder Joker got caught at the beginning."
But that is the bezt way to go about it.
It really just means the characters are different from us.
Some of your other concerns will make more sense as the story progresses.
