Zacks a solid friend, you can tell he cares even if he can't necessarily relate to exactly what Matt is going through. Matt depression isn't easy brother stay in the fight.
For the listeners who don't understand, it doesn't matter how much success or money a person has, and it doesn't matter how small the problem is perceived through your eyes. To the person going through it, whatever their problem is feels like climbing Mount Everest. OUR perception is OUR reality.

I love that matt opens up. It makes the show personal and it creates a genuine meaningful connection. As someone that endures schizoaffective disorder: schizophrenia super imposed with bipolar disorder, I constantly weather the onslaught of my mental health. Matt sharing, although different, let's me know that I'm not alone. I've been in a bit of a funk lately and my symptoms have been flaring. I've been eating like crazy because of it. The eating and my waistline is one of the many things that propagate the downward spiral. Thansk for being open Matt. Means alot and let's me know others struggle with their demons too.

As far as the sales force bit. It's an interesting report. It's interesting to see how much dealers understand that they are the source of car buying friction, yet don't want to do anything about it. It's like watching in real time a horse trader in the early 1900s that didn't want to sell autos.

A great quote that relates to eating healthy and feeling good I actually heard from Chris Pratt. Rich guy with easy access to trainers and great food so take it with a grain of salt. He basically said, when he ate what he wanted he felt amazing while eating but terrible the rest of the time. When he ate well, it was boring and not super enjoyable but he felt great the 90 percent of the day where he wasn't eating.
You just have to weigh...your priorities in terms of would you rather really enjoy food and have it be much harder to control weight and bad feelings about yourself or to sacrifice that joy somewhat to feel great about yourself and have a more healthy relationship with food. Also there are definitely ways you can eat extremely tasty food and still be healthy but it definitely limits your options and takes a lot more time to make tasty healthy dishes.
I am also someone whose weight has fluctuated a lot and who is fatter than I would care to be right now. I'm a new dad and that has made keeping up my running habits difficult and there is much less time and energy around to make it easy to say no to the fast unhealthy foods I've been eating. It's hard but I am the only one who can make the decisions that will make me healthier and happier with what I eat and how I look. Just know you can do it, it just sucks to reset your taste buds/self control. Love the podcast and hope you can find a good balance that makes you feel good about yourself! I love Smoking Tire vids and reading your articles so despite weight/how you feel you look, you're still a badass dude Matt!

The Sales Force report you referenced does not even began to Scratch the Surface on how dealerships can improve customer service. And here's the thing: They don't really want to change. As long as their Profit Margins are in The Black, they'll deal with the unhappy customers and the come backs. They will not change unless someone or something makes them. I say this as someone with nearly 20 years of dealership technician experience.

Just beat down a sales manager yesterday to get a car for my girl that was around an appropriate pre Covid price for a used car! He came over gave me his sob story about the money they put into it but my keen eye noticed some slight damage on the car, stuck to my guns and he walked away to go inspect the damage yelling profanity’s. Came back in and gave it to her at the price we wanted (about 2k under book). I loved it! I can see how people who aren’t like that and don’t live to argue the point with people don’t like it and maybe are uncomfortable. I however had a blast lol

Semi trucks won't work as electric. I've been driving big trucks for 35 plus years. For the last 18 I've driven the same run every day. And a Tesla truck cannot do what I would need it to do. The range on a regional truck still needs to be 500 Miles loaded. The problem is to have as much battery as is needed, we would only be able to haul 2/3 of a regular load. So now we would need even more trucks on the road to deliver the same amount.

I wish the discussion on lithium mining would realize it's not just about lithium, it's about all mining, and while the EV aspect of increased need for lithium is a talking point, I feel like everyone's just ignoring that our entire built society and consumer society, electronic or not, has long been built by actively exploiting the mineral resources and labor of poor parts of the world while off loading the negative externalities on them at the same time. I just find it interesting that this has suddenly become a much, much bigger problem that's only really discussed in connection with EVs, when it's already been connected to nearly everything for so long we've never known anything different!

If the AirTag travel with the thief for a period of time they can turn the AirTag off with their phone through a tracking warning they would get. Also the tracking is inaccurate because AirTags work by using other iPhones as a pinging network. A lot of times you will not get the exact location or the thief might not own an iPhone so the AirTag won’t be tracked 9 times out of ten you will not be able to properly track the thief when they steal it

@@horsterer77 lithium ion batteries is a joke. The next big leap has to be solid state batteries which are cheaper, more energy dense and last longer.

@@horsterer77 What?!? The base line is not no mining. The baseline is extracting oil, transporting that oil, refining that oil, transporting the gas or diesel, burning that gas or diesel.
Lithium mining is below that baseline so fucking far that it is non existent. Not to mention lithium is only like 2% of a battery. The only impact to the environment when mining lithium is getting rid of oil extraction. That is it. Absolutely nothing else!
Hybrids are not the answer to anything. It is the worst of both worlds. We still extract oil and get to use the worst part of a car, its engine but tell ourselves we are "electrified". No you are not!
Matt has been red pilled with this nonsense by people who want to keep selling gas.

Matt I'm very disappointed with the direction your health is going. I think you should just go to weed/coffee and literally NO booze/junk food. I had to make that switch myself and literally everything in my life improved (finances/academics/career). It's been so fun watching you grow online into this businessman and now I look at you like patrice o'neal maybe on the path to really hurting yourself longterm.....hope you get it right man! (yes this comment was meant to sting sorry but it's out of online love I swear)
