I didn’t know about this yarn, but I find the idea interesting. I’d be concerned that I might not get the gauge needed though. You both look lovely in your crochet, and I love that hexi cardigan! Happy New Year!
I agree that moms cardi is simply stunning! hehehe. Yes, it's not a mindless crochet because you really have to pay attention to your tension. But we played around with hook sizes to achieve this which was certainly easier than tight/loosen your tension.
Happy New Year Caroline and Clarisabeth! Love the hats! I am not a big fan of granny squares, although I have made them in the past. I can see how this yarn will be helpful to those who like to work with motifs.
I prefer the solid granny square myself but I do like the granny cluster stitch. When working with motifs I have to be very disciplined and I dont always like that.
You're both looking very glamorous. Loved this review. I'm not keen on the idea of using this yarn to create granny squares but I haven't used it so I can't say for definite. The cardigan 'plot twist ' is fantastic. !!😁😁
Hi Julie thank you for joining us! I understand, my ideal granny square is 3 rounds :D. Out of curiosity, is it the acrylic, the yarn weight or the colors?
@@crochetcakes I think it's more the fact that I would be limited creativity wise. I like to ' tell' the yarn what to make. I don't want the yarn to dictate what I have to make. ( I hope this makes sense!!) It'll be interesting to see if it's still available in a years time 😊
I haven’t been able to continue the project because I put the squares n the box I sent home… so I’ve gotta wait. Been looking at granny square cardis for men….I might give one a try. I guess what we should have said if you don’t like granny square, you can always just crochet with it flat or in the round. Yarnspirations has some hat patterns for which they use this yarn. Happy crafting in 2024 everyone!
Thank you! I hope you've had a good year so far. The hat that I'm wearing is a design from Laura Algarra Oh la la beret. I think it was a gift to her newsletter subscribers because I can't find it in her pattern page. The turban is "The Alma Hat " by Bunny Studio
Hello! So lovely to have you here with us and thank you for your kind comment. I completely understand, there were points where i had to put the square down and walk away. hahaha What scarf pattern are you using?
Clarisabeth, your beret is beautiful. I love the decorative stitches on the top. Your mom's bucket hat is very attractive on her. Thank you both for bringing us along in this review.
Hello Peggy! This was a newsletter exclusive from Laura Algarrra I loved making it. It's crochet using post stitches in the round. I had never made designs with post stitches before so it was great to learn.
Thanks for the review, not tempted to try but maybe if goes on sale too. Looking forward to seeing what you make with it. Love that surprise Snoopy, what a beautiful cardi! Happy New Year!
@@crochetcakes I just did their granny square pattern and just put all of them together. 😀 Yes it is like a game. Sometimes I would change the hook size mid-square (going up or down a half a millimeter). Red Heart would probably frown on that, but looking at the blanket, you can't tell.
I like this Red Heart "Granny Square Yarn", it's soft and such a great idea. The only thing I'm not so fond of are the Color Combinations. They are too dramatic for me.😂 Wish Red Heart would come up with softer Color versions, like Easter or Earth tones. I would buy them if they had them in different darkness Levels of One Color going from Pale to Dark.. or dark to Pale.
@@crochetcakes Thank you, i will check them out. Btw. i enjoyed watching Mom and Daughter having so much fun together on Camera. (pls.don't cut out the bloopers, they make everything so relatable 😊) Have a happy, healthy New Year and blessings to both of you Dear. new subscriber

It's good to see you two together and to share time. Wishing you health and happiness for 2024 and beyond! xx
Your wishes are very much appreciated! We had fun filming this. Do you have a similar yarn in europe?
I picked up 2 skeins of different palettes to try.
That is so exciting! Which colors did you choose?

It makes total sense! Yes, some of these yarns do seem to be discontinued quickly, which is a shame really. @@julieturney2188

That's true, would it work like color pooliing if you work it flat?
I just wanted to say Happy 2024 to you both! I love the hats on both of you. Do you have the patterns to share?

I like cuts that hurt too. I don't think that is a good thing to say about it but it would have been in the morning and the rest of the day was good.
Hello, I don't quite understand what you are referring to? Do you mean that you prefer to cut your yarn and make your own color combinations?
Just found your channel. Very charming 😊
I’m using this yarn for scarfs and blankets. Lost my patience with unraveling…I would rather weave in ends. 😅
Hello! So lovely to have you here with us and thank you for your kind comment. I completely understand, there were points where i had to put the square down and walk away. hahaha What scarf pattern are you using?
@@crochetcakesI actually decided to frog the scarf (alternating puff stitches and dc) and made a v-stitch hat instead (bag-o-day beanie). 😊
I'm so glad that you found projects to work with the yarn. Hats are great accessories. @@thewovenknotcrochetthehand4721

Do you have the pattern for your mother’s hat it’s such a cute one.

Not a problem, we wanted to do a fun video for our last of 2023. Do you enjoy making granny squares? I don't like the joining of them. hehehe
I like the look of them, but not making them@@crochetcakes
understandable! @@elizstitches
I liked it, too, and made a blanket. I've done planned pooling projects before though, so I was familiar with adjusting tension.
It's like a game isn't it? To tight here, too loose there, just right. Did you pick a blanket pattern?

Thank you! One was a free pattern from a newsletter (the beret) and the other a crochet turban pattern i found on Pinterest.

Its like colour pooling which is not easy at all! Beautiful conversation loved the review ❤
You are correct! Color pooling is not easy but we had fun attempting this. Thank you for joining us Kerri!
