Hi Guys its Julie again In 1887, British Prime Minister Robert Gascoyne-Cecil appointed his nephew Arthur James Balfour as Minister for Ireland. The phrase 'Bob's your uncle' was coined when Arthur referred to the Prime Minister as 'Uncle Bob'. Apparently, it's very simple to become a minister when Bob's your uncle!” now "Bob's your uncle" is a phrase commonly used in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries that means "and there it is", or "and there you have it", or "it's done". Typically, someone says it to conclude a set of simple instructions or when a result is reached, hope that answers your question, every day is a learning day xxxxx
You are so right and I was wrong! Not sure where I heard the Robert Peel story, but probably mixing up with why policemen are called "bobbies" Ha! Ha! I'll stick to knitting comments moving forward.
Came here to say this
Thank you so much for sharing, so interesting to hear how this term started.
So where did the “Charlies your Aunt” come from?
Thank you for information never knew
Ray, keep the same color order for your granny squares but do half in reverse. That way you use the same amount of each yarn and you get a more diverse amount of color combos, but it's really only one in reverse of itself. :D Can't wait to see what it looks like as you progress! Thanks for another great episode, y'all!
That’s a great idea! I decided to keep the color order and just rotate which one starts the round 😊
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast yay, that will work out great. I love those colors together, it's going to be soooo nice!
I was just going to say the same thing!!!
I was screaming that same thing at the screen 😅@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast
Hi Guys. Like the no beard look Ray. I am enjoying seeing more crochet in the program. Saw a sweater with granny squares & the rest knitted at Knit City Toronto just this past weekend. Great idea. You two do great work. I love it all. The silver eucalyptus is my favourite of those greens.
Aww thank you! It’s been so much fun mixing in some crochet! Makes for a really nice change from time to time ❤️
Ray when you talked about socks without toes I nearly spit out my coffee. My 10 year old granddaughter asked me to knit her a pair of toeless socks. I’m assuming she will wear them with flip flops. The Reacher series is fantastic. The actor who plays Reacher embodies everything about the character-physical, mental etc from the book. The books are some of the best I’ve read in any series.
We really enjoyed the series, looking forward to the next season in 2025 lol.
Aww, what a lovely tribute to dear Tarquin! So special. My eyes leaked a little when I saw those inked arms🐾💙🐾💙 Ray, you always look wonderful; but, your Summer look is extra handsome...and your clean shaven Summer face reveals a darling little dimple I hadn't noticed before! I vote the Summer look all year long. Be sure to carry your ID if you plan to have a drink anywhere😉 Fear not Kevin, you're always handsome in any season as well! I love the new colors you've dyed and that silver eucalyptus is fabulous. Always love knitting along while watching you guys. Thanks, as always, for sharing!🤗💕
We are so happy with how the tattoos turned out. It will be interesting to see how long Ray leaves the summer look.
Lovely, guys just a relaxing bunch of yarn goodness . Had to watch in batches. Our first grandkiddo graduated from high school tonight AND passed her LVN boards. She starts her RN program in the fall. So proud of her.
Love everything. Have a fabulous 2 weeks.
Congratulations to your grandkiddo!! So awesome, good to her in nursing school.
I bought the Summer Lee knits book on Amazon and got it spiral bound. I love it because I can leave it open to the pattern I’m using
We just got a copy this past week, great idea getting it spiral bound.
Hi from Ireland, as always, another very entertaining episode. Love the crochet/knit cardigan can’t wait to see the finished items
Thank you so much Beatrice.
Thank you, Ray, for the tip about using a locking stitch marker for your crochet project. I’m a knitter who just started crochet and was wondering how to store my wip. Very useful tip!
Yay!! So glad it helped you!
Kevin, thank you sooo much for talking about WIPS and casting on a project, etc. This made me realize and make sense of the fact I do the same thing. I’m also finishing old WIPS too. So glad you both discuss your knitting lives so frankly❤
Hi Kevin and Ray, loving your cute Albert’s. Beautiful work as always and loving the Jelly Roll blankets. I think the colours you have chosen for the Crochet/knit cardigan will look fabulous ❤❤❤
Thank you Linda!
“People do hike on purpose!” Hahahahan Got my yarn for the Zorzal shawl! Love Carrie’s! Bold!
Yay, it is such a fun pattern.
Kevin, silver eucalyptus is the nicest green I’ve ever seen, love it!!!
Aww thank you! I love when a “mistake” ends up being something beautiful.
It was fun hearing you mention Antonia. My mother-in-law spent her summers there as a child, escaping the city of Brooklyn. She spoke often and fondly of her days there. We would like to visit someday in her honor.
So lovely to spend time with you today. Ray, i love your summer look!
Thank you 😊
Awesome podcast!! All of your projects are great! Ray, that shawl is gorgeous...nice work. As for your granny square sweater...I really like the first idea of using the same color combination for all of the squares. Kevin, love that sweater that found it's way home from vaca!! Of course you had to show your beautiful yarns, and of course I had to order some!! Crazy Sock Lady's Summer Sock Camp started yesterday, and I thought I needed more yarn. 🙄
LOL we always need more yarn!! Haha 😆
I’m sitting and watching while crocheting 4Jethros for 4 grandaughters. I’m also pressed for time because birthdays. Each has an overall color scheme with random squares. Thank you both for keeping me company. You guys are both so talented. Have great weekend.
Oh wow, that is amazing. They are going to love the cardigans.
Hi Kevin and Ray,
Skylar too!🐦
Thanks again for another inspiring and enjoyable episode!
Very nice finished objects and works in process! Such pretty new color yarns! Great job!!!
Happy Knitting 🧶!
Aww thanks so much! Happy Knitting 🧶
OMG , I’m so glad that I’m not the only one that has to find the right “brain” to fix an error…..even when I know how..lol Love you guys,…stay well
I really have to be in the right frame a mind, normally early in the day when the house is still quiet.
Thank you for another lovely episode. Also, I really love the amount of crochet. I made my first granny square blanket years ago because I got inspired by a friend who had started one and have been hooked ever since. So great for leftovers. And btw I actually do not faff about with a stitch marker on my crochet projects, I just pull at the yarn to make my last loop gigantic when I stop and toss my project in my bag. Then, when I pick it up again, I just make the loop small again and am ready to go. Well, and now I really must make a Jethro, too. So, thanks again ;-)
Thank you Margaret! We are really hitting our crochet stride.
I looove Summer Lee’s sock project book. Just got mine last month and I have been using it since I got it. I’m on a quest to make a perfect sock ( for myself) this year. Love the color of yours Ray 💖😍
Thank you!! We definitely need to add that book to our library.
Always enjoy you guys
That crochet shawl is gorgeous, Ray, especially in that beautiful color of Kevin’s yarn! Love the Pistachio Brittle color!!
Thank you so much Daryl!
When making granny squares, I've added a row or two of single crochet if some of the squares end up slightly small. Maybe you could do that if the fabric of the square you like ends up being a little small. Looks very cool - especially when you make it a design feature.
That is a great tip Robin, thank you for sharing.
Lol! “I heard what you're saying through the screen, and in the future…” I laughed out loud at this. It was so funny. Always love the episodes. You two are great. Happy knitting and crocheting 💚🧶💚
LOL, thank you so much for watching Meredith.
Ray, sounds like you've landed on the right decision on your Jethro. Just wanted to advise you not to go up a hook size. Remember that cotlin is probably going to stretch a bit over time because of the nature of that fiber. I'm finding last year's summer knits are bigger this spring as I am pulling them out. And you're going to want to have that piece for a while after all the work you're going to put into it. Happy crocheting!
Thank you for the tip Elizabeth, we will talk about that cardigan a bit more today, when we record.
The tattoos are a very lovely tribute to Tarquin. ❤ Love your crochet journeys! I prefer working from crochet charts, too. I often put a stitch marker on the first and last stitch of each row, especially if you’re supposed to crochet into the turning chain-it saves me time and helps me keep my stitch count correct. Ray, I often have to go down a hook size when working with cotton yarn. Be sure to wash your gauge swatches-cotton may stretch a bit when washed.
Thank you Maryann!
I have knit with Knitpicks cotlin a lot over the years. Because of the linen content it does break in and get more drapey over time. I think you will ultimately love it even at the denser gauge. I can't wait to see it done.
That is great to know, thank you for sharing that information. We are both looking forward to having the cardigans.
I always get so excited to listen to you all🎉. I am already size 0 for ribbing and 1 for rest of sock and my hands get tired for 8 stitches per inch, so can’t imagine trying for 9😮. I may start doing twisted rib as I think that may help tighten up my ribbing. Love the socks Kevin!
We both love a twisted rib for socks, it looks really nice.
Thanks Kevin and Ray for the episode, always enjoy what you two are making and updating us on all the new gadgets, notions out there. 🇨🇦🥰Sharon.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Sharon, we really appreciate it.
Hi!!! Love the summer face! I love seeing more crochet! I’m going to do a jethro too🎉 have a lovely long weekend 💜
Thank you Steph. Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
OMG I love the silver Eucalyptus!!! I need in my life!!! you guys are always a joy to watch and you do beautiful work!!!
Aww thank you 😊
Love to hear your thought process - and you figured it out as I was typing my thoughts - so hah! Much better approach “keep your comments to yourself”!! 😂 always a pleasure to share a new episode on the fortnight. Yup - small little hooks. I’m making a Battenberg Blanket with fingering on a 2.5mm crochet hook - will likely outlive me to finish it! LOVE the granny square cardis - may inspire me and if only I’d kept the granny clothes from the first time around in the 70s…
We saw the Battenberg Blanket, it is really pretty.
One of the beautiful things about knitting (and crochet) is that there are often many ways to get to the same result. Given that, I won't criticize how someone else knits just because I would do it differently, although I may say "here's another option and why I like it." However, I have to speak up regarding Summer Lee's advice to change gauge by knitting more tightly. I have been knitting for over 45 years and I can remember many knitting experts saying to NOT try to change gauge by knitting more loosely or tightly but to simply change needle size. For one thing, there is a limit to how much smaller you can make your stitches by knitting more tightly. Second, knitting tightly increases the strain on your hands. Third, if you manage to retrain your muscle memory to knit tightly, what happens when you knit something in a thicker yarn and want to knit using your old style? This might work for Summer if all she knits is socks (and she does have a beautiful collection of designs so I can believe that she doesn't knit anything else), but for people who knit a variety of garments in various yarn weights, changing needle size is the way to get the gauge you want. Besides, so many of us already have sets of interchangeable needles; why not use them?
That is a really great point, changing needle size can be a much better option.
I love both of your color combinations for your granny square sweaters. Looking forward to seeing those come to life.
Question: Would you consider putting inspiration project pictures with your yarn in your shop - maybe photos of the projects you're making for your trunk shows? It would be great inspiration of things to do with the yarn (just a thought). I live in the South and have no need for hats and shawls but really want to make something with your varigated yarn but don't have any ideas besides maybe a wrap.
We are hoping to get a bunch of the yarn cranked in sock tubes and put those pictures on the site, this should show how they will knit up.
Kevin- I had forgotten about the red pistachios of my childhood!! Thanks for the memory😊 I love all your projects as always!
Thank you so much! I really loved them as a kid.
I personally would love all of the squares the same. I also am thinking of doing a monochrome version of the Jethro. You are right, everyone likes different things and that's the beauty of crafting.
Totally is, the cardigan will look great.
Lol, I love the heart and crown hand signal. I don't think it's the new signal that "the kids" are using, but I am definitely going to use it from now on.
The full strength multi color is so Mardi Gras! It could be "Fat Tuesday". And I love that green that perfectly matches your yarn sleeve. It looks like you were trying to make it a house color way. Honestly, your use of color is always fantastic.
Oh that is a great name!
Ray - the summer look looks good!
Kevin,, love your yarn dying colors. So beautiful!
Thank you Randie!
If you set up the colors as A.B.C.D.E, having the colors you want separated not near each other, then do ABCDE, BCDEA, CDEAB, DEABC, EABCD
I think that is the route Ray went with, he has started a little assembly line to work through all the colors.
Hello....it was nice to see this pop up today. It was an exhausting week and I was just vegging today and trying to finish some sock WIPs so I can cast on more for Summer Sock Camp...LOL...I did finish one pair.
Yay, have fun making socks during summer sock camp.
Yahoo! It’s my time with Kevin and Ray!
Thank you so much for spending some of your time with us.
Ray I love your summer look great podcast from you both as always .
Thank you 😊
Hi, guys! I’m so happy to see you! And Ray! No beard! 😮 You look great either way, I must say. Kevin you look great, rested and content. Sweet tattoos, a tribute to Tarquin.❤😢❤
We are two days home from our road trip to meet our new baby great granddaughter in the Midwest. Babies are a gift from God. Great trip, cracked windshield, wind and rain and snow, Oh My! But a truly great time with our family! So great to be home…🤗
Yikes, sounds like quite the adventure! But so glad you got to visit the little ones and make it safely home 🏡
Great podcast as always ☕️🧶😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for spending your time with us ❤️
Ray you look so young! Keep the look. It suits you. As for the Jethro, go with your heart. It would be the right decision. Both your WIPS are so inspiring. Great podcast as always. ❤
Thank you!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Eucalyptus color. Wow it’s so beautiful!
Yes Kevin I totally remember the red shells. Growing up they were they only ones I saw & the first time I saw a color called pistachio & it was green I was totally confused. 😂
And Ray wasn’t being a jerk about the crochet sweater at the end. 🤣 Ray was talking to me. I was the one thinking I would not wear a granny square sweater no matter what color it was. But you do you your color choices definitely make it look more refined.
Can’t wait to see it on you.
Thank you Nicole!
I guess I don’t think that I have enough WIPS as I have taken up learning how to crochet granny squares. Also I love the sleeves of the IVAN, to die for! And your brown sweater is gorgeous. The stitch!!! ❤
Thank you Jackie!
Love you guys ❤ crisp is the word I had read describing yarn ❤
YES!!! Thank you, we couldn’t remember. Hope you are doing well.
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast I was making dinner and listening to your podcast and heard your question and I was smiling big time. Doing so well, can’t wait to meet you all, hopefully at Flock
Hi Kevin, regarding your pistachio colour way. Kay Jones from The Bakery Bears uses a light gold/yellow as a final over wash to slightly tame the brightness and tie the colours together on some of her colour ways. I think it may be Aztec Gold from either Darma or Jacquard, but done quote me on that. Maybe something like that might give your pistachio more of that muted green that you are looking for. That being said your version is beautiful just as it is.
Love Aztec Gold, that you for the tip.
Noticed the elephant in the room Ray. Love it. Sounds like super family stuff coming up. Enjoy 🧶🧶
Thank you! Yeah, tons of family time coming up, we always enjoy those days.
By the way I just finished the Jethro. Instead of doing the join as you go round I crocheted the main color as the last round and slip stitched all the squares together I think it worked really well instead of mattress stitch.
That is a great idea!
Hey guys. Love the moisturizing 😄
LOL thank you
Thank you for keeping me company while I grieve the loss of my dear sweet dog Archie - I had to have him put to sleep yesterday. Seeing your tribute to your sweet Tarquin seemed like a sign that I needed to just sit with you and feel like I’m sitting with friends 🥰💔
So very sorry for your loss. Our pets truly become family and losing one hurts just as deeply. May his memory be a blessing.
@@SallyRogers-xx7cs thank you 🙏 yes a true family member - the memories are holding our hearts together x
OMG, so sorry for your loss. We know that feeling all too well, glad that watching brought you a little comfort.
I think It’s.A.Sarah has made a cardigan granny square sweater with the same color for each granny square. The Ariana Sweater. I love the look. Sarah and that sweater made me want to make Granny squares.
Ray has been having a ton of fun making his granny squares, he has already started his assembly line.
You have inspired me to start a Jelly Roll Blanket! I am already on my third strip and using the join as prescribed in the pattern. I agree about the previous strip’s color peaking out but, I think I can block that out a bit or just embrace it. This has been super meditative for me to knit and there are just times when you need a knit like that. Also Ray, as far as your Jethro cardigan, I really like that green-gray color as your all over color rather than the black. Also, I would be careful with the placement of the reddish color in the middle of a square so it doesn’t look like a part of your chest anatomy, if you get my drift. 😊
Glad you are enjoying making the blanket, we both love turning to that when we don’t know what to knit and need a calming knit. LOL, will definitely keep the placement of squares in mind.
Another enjoyable episode! Thanks gentlemen. It may be too much work but I thought it may be fun and informative if you did a bonus video showcasing your favorite project bags. You have some good ones and I often comb your videos searching for them. 😉
Thanks for the suggestion, we can certainly see if we can work on a video like that.
Recently watched an online presentation by Summer Lee and I believe she was a sweater knitter before she decided she wanted to concentrate on sock knitting.
Really, how interesting. She is a great sock designer.
every.single.thing.fantastic. I enjoy the time I spend watching you guys! Ray love the youthful clean shaven face!
Thank you so much Pam.
Another great podcast! I'm making the Jethro Cardigan too. Have you tried Tulip crochet hooks? You didn't mention them. They are my fav along with the Clover ones-very similar to each other. I have a lovely set that comes with a case--from Japan. Thanks for sharing.
❤ loving the new tatts, lovely tribute to dear little Tarquin ❤❤
Thank you Sally!
Really like the join Ray has used for his Jelly Roll blanket. Would it be possible for Ray to put that in his Ravelry notes ?
Hi, I can definitely try. I haven’t added that to my ravelry yet but I’ll work on it ☺️
Lovely yarns and knits. Your nieces and nephews are so lucky to have such talented uncles who make them things. Do any of your family members knit or crochet? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Donna! Ray’s mom knits sometimes, but it really is only the two of us.
Ray, there is another granny square cardigan that uses the same color combo for all of the squares. You could look at the Ariana by Amy Christoffers as an inspiration of if you want to do the one color combo.
Thank you for the pattern suggestion, we will take a look at that.
Kevin, I haven't thought about red pistachios in a long time! Ray, your Jethro cardigan will look so nice with your color palette and the smaller squares. As a complete aside, your sneezing reminds me of my dad! He'd sneeze 7, 8, 9+ times in a row. As a kid, it would make me nervous when it happened while he was driving! Now, it's a nice memory of him when I watch your podcast and you happen to sneeze♥ Thanks for another fun episode.
LOL Ray’s sneezing is so funny, he always does a bunch, I am normally 3 times.
The ink looks great guys. You both look great as always, but now we can see Ray’s beauty lips. ☺️
Tarquin forever 🐾💙
Aww thanks so much ❤️
I am doing my squares all the same color combination.I don't think it's boring, but as you both always say you do you. I love it all
Oh so fun!! Can’t wait to see it!!
Ooh! Maybe your dad’s sweater will be done for Father’s Day! 😊 You’ve made a lot of progressive on it and I’m sure he’s going to love it even though it has taken a while. BTW-like the summer face look!
Thank you! I’m just hoping I can put it together correctly. I’m not the best at seaming 😳
Ray, I’d ask you to consider using the red in the center for the whole sweater. It will have that “bullseye” effect, unless that’s the look you are going for! I love the tattoos ❤️.
Ray decided to alternate the center color for all of his squares.
Hi guys!!!
Ray, you're adorable with AND without a beard!!
Love tattoos!! I have numerous, I'm gonna be one of the most colorful old ladies in the home. 🤣😂🤣
Many photorealistic butterflies & flowers. My artist is AMAZING!!
Had a great week!! My BFF who had a stroke in February text me!!! She's slowly becoming herself again. 🥰
Another cute baby sweater is "baby sophisticate".
I'm a lifetime "Boye"(boy) hook girl, I STILL use the set my grandmother gave me when she taught me as a child.....I have no clue how I've never lost any!
I remember red pistachios!! And the white ones.....with sooooo much salt it would stop a bull elephant!! They were my favorite. 🥰
Hi Patti!! Glad to hear that your friend is becoming herself again. We both plan on adding more tattoos 😁
I enjoyed your video and all the lovely projects. Kevin had the awesome tote with snaps on the handle. It sounded like he called is a “ship” bag. Would you please share more information on that bag? It looked like the best basket/bag for a scrappy project. Thank you!
Hi Amy! That is a Chip Basket, we got it from Fiberhustle.com.
Hi guys, and Skylar I have counted the days from the last episode to this one, love love love your channel you two are so so cute together it lightens my heart and I love the tribute to your fur baby, what a lovely gesture, I have learned so much about wool, needles and knitting techniques from you guys, Ray could you show how you do your felting at some point I was so intrigued with all your felt projects look after each other its raining and cold here in the UK lots love Julie xxxxx
Thank you, we are so happy with how the tattoos turned out, better than we expected. Ray will see about doing a felting video.
OMG, that Silver Eucalyptus is so STUNNING I had to pause the podcast and click over to grab some!!! Any chance of it in a DK too??
Your Tarquin body arts are beautiful, and so touching 💙. (I saw it as a patronus immediately.) Ty for continuing to share your beautiful selves and yarny goodness. 😍
I will definitely consider dying it on DK. It was originally going to be a one of a kind but I’m so glad everyone seems to enjoy it. Will absolutely be adding it to the regulars ❤️
Kevin I would try the clover hook as well, I have several different kinds of hooks, but usually like my Susan bates hooks best, but have definitely changed with different yarns
I might try to make another bear with the same yarn and different hook to see if I like it better.
Kevin. Love the eucalyptus yarn. The purple and green yarn with the too bright green might look good with a sage green.
Thank you, I was really surprised and happy with the eucalyptus yarn.
You guys are the best! Thanks for the shout out! You should definitely come to a knit night! Can’t wait to see those cardigans you are making for flock, super cool! My oldest son and I are listening to the first book in the Mistborn series, and loving it. Kevin, you should definitely give the “A Darker Shade of Magic” series a try, since you like Mistborn I think you will like it. Great episode!
The first book is so good, the second was good too, just took some time to get going. I still need to start the 3rd book. I definitely want to read A Darker Shade of Magic, I almost picked it up at the bookstore last week.
Love all of the projects. I would never be able to juggle so many. The stuffed Alberts you made are both cute. "Bob's your uncle" is a British expression meaning "there you have it". I didn't realize you had shaved your beard, but I thought you looked younger. (Same experience when my older brother shaved off a big brush mustache that he had had from 18 to 28. They were waiting for me to notice he had shaved it off, but I just noticed he looked younger - I guess the face I had last seen when he was 18).
We don’t really enjoy having this many project on the needles/hooks, but sometimes it is cast on all the things here.
Ray you look great clean shaven. I like the idea of using your favorite color combo square with the smaller hook for the sweater. It's gorgeous
Thanks! I decided to go with that color combo and just rotate them 😊
Ray. Maybe do the same colors but take the outside color and put it in the middle and radiate the colors out wash rinse repeat. Great episode guys
Ray has kinda started an assembly line, he is rotating the colors currently. Starting A,B,C,D,E then E, A, B, C, D.
Your crochet hook is inset, you might have better luck with a tapered hook working with the acrylic yarn. Another thing that can effect the ease of using different yarns is the length of the shaft.
Thank you for the tip, I will give that a try next time with the acrylic yarn.
Looking great Ray!!
Thank you 😊
The summer look is fantastic!,,,,
Thank you so much 😊 So excited for the warmer weather!
Hi Ray, I think the rust color in the center is throwing the square off. It draws the eye to it. Putting the rust color next to the black looks more balanced. 😉 Nice color choices !
Thank you for the feedback Terry!
Ray, I really like the copper center of the granny square, I think it makes it pop. Could you do copper at the center of all your squares and then vary how you arrange the outside?
I also wanted to let you know that your kit-along got me on a kit kick. I didn't finish the shawl that I started for the kit-along, but I've since finished a different shawl kit, and I'm now working on a sweater kit. I'm just finishing the hem, then I need to do the sleeves and the collar. I've got another sweater kit and another shawl kit I'd like to get knit up. I also want to knit an entire flock of chickens, but I've haven't pulled the trigger on the yarn yet.
Ray has been alternating through the colors, making an assembly line, making sure he keeps the two colors that are close, apart from each other.
Ray, I'd go up a size on the hook and if it's just a smidge too big, well then there's more positive ease, which to me is a great thing. :)
I forgot what size hook he ended up going with, we will talk about that a bit more today.
I was surprised when I heard Summer Lee say you should have 9 sts per inch too since most sock patterns are written in a 8 sts/inch gauge. I immediately checked mine and I have 9 1/4 sts on 2.5mm and don’t feel too tight on my feet.
Good to know, I still need to measure my gauge.
CLEAN SHAVEN RAY! Hello! You both are handsome, regardless! ☺️ 0:27. 8:25 LOVE YOUR INK!!! 🐾 18:17 The bears are too cute; Kevin, yours is smaller because your hook size is smaller, I think. 33:25 “I’ll be really quick!” - famous last words - NATR! 😂. Heehee… Love y’all!!! Alllll of your projects are FANTABULOUS AS ALWAYS! So great to “see” you and THANK YOU!!! 😊🧶🫶🏻~ Lisa in Oh
Thank you so much 😊
Ray you could make just 2 colour combinations squares as well. One with the copper in the middle and then one with the copper as the last colour before the black.
Ray ended up working a little assembly line with his colors.
Everything looks great! I had a lot of comments but I said them to you as I watched😂❤❤❤
LMAO, we heard EVERY one..hahah 😂
Hi guys, Ray I luv the unbranded look you look so young Luv the granny cardigan I would mix up the colours. Wishes from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you 😊
If you like the copper the most, throw in a few squares that are solid copper for extra pops
That is a fun idea.
Ray, Kathleen at Yarnia did a similar granny square project, and she just used the colors she started with, and changed their order with each block. She got the look she was after without adding, more colors.
Thank you for the tip Catherine.
My daughter and I are making one’s that have single color squares and it looks really good with all the different colors instead of doing 5 color granny squares. Just alternate them as you join them
Thank you for the suggestion Penny!
Just got started on a clockwork. Very meditative. Ok here’s a thought - how about each spring do an ‘old school’ Stephen West along. The Clockwork is from way back. Maybe next year do a Dotted Rays or Exploration Station. Or something from the early years. So much good stuff.
This is a really fantastic idea!! Remind us next year…lol Our brains are not as young as they used to be haha 😆
OK, Ray. For your squares. You can still do several different color sequences on your squares, but I'd do it like this. Take the one that you like, with the copper in the center - call them A, B, C, D, E. For the next set of squares, do B, C, D, E, A. Then C, D, E A B, etc. Because with 5 colors, you actually have 5! (5 factorial) ways to put them together, which is 120 possibilities. Pretty easy to NOT put those 2 close colors together.
I think that is what he ended up going with for his squares.
The same patterning on your granny squares would look great. Sleek. Polished. Do it.
I would make half the squares with the colors in reverse order
Thank you for the suggestion Deborah!
I used to get the red pistachios in my stocking from my dad every Christmas growing up.
Yay!! Glad I wasn’t alone!!
