This time around we take a look at some of the things that a new skater should be prepared for when they first are getting into the skate life. There are some good and some bad but overall skateboarding is an amazing experience and you have a lot to look forward to.

Professional skaters never make fun of beginners because they were beginners at some point of their lives and know how hard it can be to learn and perform new tricks.
Especially since they are happy when new people pick up the sport they love.
Worst thing you can do for the sport you love is making beginners stop early, because you make fun of them.

im a female skateboarder and people constantly yell 'poser' at me, even if i am literally on my board.
You probably wear Thrasher and over do it. Not saying its wrong to wear those things, but while skating It can make you look a little sus i guess. If you aren't over doing it with cloths they're probably sexist lol
oh that’s completely valid, but most of the time i skate in jeans and plain black/anime hoodies so 🤷♀️
I'm genuinely nervous about learning how to skate because of exactly this. How do you get around it?
Unfortunately i see this happen a lot, mostly with girls and any begginers (as sexist and useless as that is). Theres no real way around that stupid skate hivemind you'll probably encounter, no matter what you wear at the skatepark.
I guess the only real way to get around it is ignore those idiots or just flip them off and do a casual kickflip once you learn those higher-level tricks. It really does suck that a lot of people can get bullied and unmotivated by that small amount of judgey teens. Just use it as motivation if you can, proove those idiots wrong and pray you get to see them wipe out atleast once as revenge.
Afterall we were all begginers once, even if half of them seem to forget that.
@@sadgemoggy honestly, i don’t really have any advice. if you enjoy skating then dealing with sexists is worth it. just try not to let them get to you i guess
literally falling is the only thing holding me back, i get full on heart attacks when i hit those little cracks that stops the skateboard completely 😭✋

How to actually skate. Like try going in a straight line. No tricks. Just learn.

@@hellothere365 it's all mind games man, if you fall you fall. Find a crack on the ground and put your back wheels no it so when you stand on the board it wont move, then try the trick until you have the basic movement down then when you get comfortable try the trick rolling

The thing is my mom won't let me learn bc she thinks I'm gonna hurt myself which is obviously gonna happen but I don't want to do crazy tricks or anything. I just want to skate casually lol.
Same I also want to learn a few basic tricks but my mum keeps thinking I will break my arm again on the first day but I told her that’s the whole point you will learn from the accidents that happen I’m only between the age of 11-14 and I feel so young in the comments 😩😭

@@kyushastyle3192 first you should learn how to walk. then you should learn how to fall. after this you can start skating or you will hit your head again. =) don't let your head to hit the road breh. you guys start skating but you don't know what is your body made from. never relax your head, hands, legs when you fall, NEVER. or you will die one day.
Just wait until decades later when all those repeated injuries add up. This past winter, I was crippled in bed for over two months, pissing in juice bottles, afraid to eat because I couldn't make it to the bathroom to shit, and my roommate got fed up with it and moved out after several frustrated arguments about having to do all my errands for me. Arthritis in my knees and ankles got that level of bad before 35 years old.
Skate tip:
When you’re first learning, try to wear long pants and sleeves. This will limit injuries when you fall. Remember to always wear a helmet, even if people call you out. It’s better to be slightly tormented instead of suffer head injury! Have fun skating!

BORNEO'S TREASURE BOX Never be afraid of falling, it will happen, but if you’re afraid you’ll never reach full potential. Try leaning forward a bit more, leaning back will result in you falling on your butt.

@@borneostreasurebox8339 Braille Skateboarding has a great video on learning how to fall without hurting yourself (as much!). Key things are to make sure your arms are bent and try to roll out of the fall. You can practice by running your board into the grass and practicing making sure your arms are bent and rolling one the grass. Getting the muscle memory down for this will save you some nasty injuries and broken bones!

Just started skating, and as I live in an apartment there is no driveway, so I have to get out there.
What I have learned from that, is that most people don’t care.
I go out there, stay on my board for 30 seconds max having to push many times and then falling, chasing my skateboard as I accidentally push it backwards, falling because my wheel got stuck in a crack, being slower than the runners, and many people pass me and see me ,
But they don’t care.
So go out there and skate freely into the world my children
It’s the exact same way for me but surprisingly the first day I ever touched a skateboard (yesterday) I was already doing ramps and manuals with my friend (teacher) at the skate park and now I’m here at 2:00 watching skateboard videos because I’m in love with it now so yeah...
Honestly I’ll bet people are just happy to see kids getting outside.

the only thing holding me back from skating more often is embarrasment. whenever i’m at a skatepark i get really overwhelmed by all of the pros and then i get embarrased since i cant skate that well. i also just feel like an obstacle in the park since i’m taking things quite slow compared to everyone else.

That happens, try going there with friends (it makes all the difference) or if you're having trouble landing something maybe try asking for some help to somebody, people tend to be nice at skateparks.

Don’t worry about it bro. Those pros were in the same place once. And one thing about the community is that they usually are understanding and will be happy to help. I usually ask people what I’m doing wrong
dont go to skateparks to practice, just practice on the street, your driveway, or a local park. Skateparks aren't for beginners.

To all u shy boarders out there here’s my advice just grab some earphones n skate at the park n 95% of the time everyone won’t mind u cuz they’re too busy skating. I’m talking from experience cuz I used to be shy to go skate at the skate park too.
I took all day today trying to perfect the randja foot plant. It was hot, humid, and frustrating how I tried it over and over again. I hit my shin in the same spot so many times (with the lovely reward of a fat purple bruise) I took a break to just go skate before trying an ollie then going back. I went inside and got distracted by videos like this for more motivation. Let's just say I've finally gotten the trick and a beginner's ollie, working on a higher one tomorrow. So proud of myself and it really is the best feeling ever haha.

As long as you practice hard and focus on improving It’s hard to be called a poser, besides when you go to the skatepark like he said in general we get along well, I’ve experienced this skaters are generally friendly.

Got a board from a friend, and a piece of advice on shoes: latex spray. Not only patches up small holes but creates a durable surface that sticks well to the board.

You really dont need friends when their are skateparks. I landed a kickflip off of 10 stairs and so many people clapped and i know half of the people that clapped to this day. Which half was about 8 people. We've been going to that skate park for 4 years now

•m y a i s a e s t h e t i c • right? I have a really embarrassing story. Me and my best friend who just learned how to skate went to a skatepark the other week. When we arrived there were just all these cute skater guys and like 10 year olds on their scooters, so we got all intimidated. Then we sat and watched the guys skate for like an hour and a half which was really nice. But then I was like “IM GOING TO SKATE!” Really determined. The first thing I do as I get on the skateboard is to run right into a big ass pebble and fall forward. I turn and see the gang of 4 cute guys looking at me and then snapping their heads to the other side as I look at them. I pick my skateboard up, cover my face and run away. I was so embarrassed😓

I skateboard and I think learning how to balance is a start. I am working on tricks, but I don't think u should work on them till you think u understand the balancing and stuff like that. You should also wear protective gear if you just started

People might hate skateboarding, but it's a good way to get out of the house and not rot from videogames. This is my 5th year of skating and I've worked hard to get to where I'm at now.

Beginners, drink a lot of water. After a long skate sesh, you'ee feet will hurt a LOT less if you keep hydrated.

Tip: NEVER, put your arms behind you when you fall. I broke my arm that way after falling off of a beam at my gymnastics school. Instead try rolling on your back, tuck your head in, and grab under your legs to prevent any further injuries than there has to be. Stay safe ❤️
If you know you're going to fall though while skating, put your hand down and have your arm bent a little bit. It will act as a spring and when you land always roll. So basically, what you said.

Update ankle is almost healed started cruising today

@@vickiehinrichs2788 well no tricks but I'm able to cruise, still can't really put a ton of pressure on the ankle.
I also had to take a break because my foot also messed up but no where as bad as you I jumped over a tree with all the power in my body and landed sideways and yeah I can Ollie but very small because my foot doesn’t want to turn that way and when I was waiting it was so hard but my leg wasn’t that bad and I didn’t have to wait as long as you
@@vickiehinrichs2788 yeah I dropped in and my foot fell behind and went sideways. I thought it was a bad sprain cause I got up and walked to my truck and drove to the ER and walked in but no break with spiral fractures and now I got a plate in my leg. It sucks but I'm happy cruising for now but I want to get back into it.
