That’s a very capable combo for everything, not only street photography. I thing TTArtisan (and 7Artisans, Pergear and Meike) has done an enormous service to the photographic community: impressive vintage aesthetics (both on build quality and image rendering) for cheap! After I tried the TTArtisan 23mm f/1.4 on my old Sony a6000 I found again my lost inspiration!
100% agree about the lack of tilty screen. This camera is so sexy, I really want one as a back up to my XT2/street shooter, but haven't pulled the trigger because of the screen.. and the xe4 with no back command dial is a no go
Secondhand can be good, especially from a reputable shop. I bought from a major UK brand (well, as major as any high-street brand gets these days) and could be confident that everything that needed checking and cleaning would be covered. My body even had a fresh battery and the date and time set correctly! Enjoy whatever you buy!
I bought a X-E1 instead, pair with this lens, roughly EUR180 only (this 35mm ttartisan lens is less than EUR50 in China / HK). This is much, much cheaper and with a manual lens you really don't need X-E3's speed. It is 16M vs 24M though, but I like this 16M sensor more. I even feel my photography has improved quite a bit since I bought this cheap combo
Good to see the XE3 getting some attention. I just bought one as a way back into photography after something of a break. Real nice camera and lenses. It'll be nice to be able to use it further afield than my neighbourhood from mid-April! Didn't realise there were cheap 1.4s out there. Maybe they get overlooked, rather like the XE3?
was looking at getting the x-e3 or x-e4, and wanted to get this lens over the more expensive autofocus fuji lenses. i was scared manual focus would be too difficult on the body, but (coming from film bodies), this video is convincing me to take the plunge!
Thx for another nice video! I have an x-e3 + 7artisans 35mm f1.2 - super fun shooting experience. And I can live with the lense quircs - I actually like this "imperfect vintage character". BUT it's hard to judge focus with such a small EVF. Even with focus peeking and focus-closeup-test-thing seting. So it's very sad to me that new x-e4 has the same old EVF
Great overview, love my X-E3. It is so versatile. I have my auto-focus XF 16-80 as an all-rounder. The 16-80 has become a favourite with it's OIS allowing for handheld shots at 1/15th and even sometimes 1/2 sec with the right technique and burst. Shooting with manual is a completely different experience and lends to different approach and results. I've settled on a KamLan 50mm F1.1 II, and a KamLan 28mm 1.4 which is a fantastic lens. Though i prefer to only have a few lenses at a time, I may look into the new XF70-300 and XF27 in the future and possibly even the Pergear 10mm F8 (cheap, good optics, and a true pancake lens).
Interesting that you’re using the „big“ zooms on such a compact body. Don’t know the KamLan gear yet, but I will definitely have a closer look. Thx for watching!
@@Jayshooter_photo Kamlan are too often overlooked. The 50mm f1.1ii is a remarkable lens, offering a quality build, impressive IQ for the price and extreme bokeh. The 21/1.8 and 28/1.4 are also excellent value.
This is a misunderstanding. The ƒ1.4 below the pictures only refers to the "TTArtisans 35mm ƒ1.4" lens. Since it is a manual lens, the aperture is not saved in the EXIF data. So I don't know which aperture I used. Sorry ...
I picked up a used X-E3 and XF 27mm f2.8 last summer which I use primarily for street shooting. Great combo. I'll have to look into this lens. On this camera, I find that when I set exposure compensation to 0 the shadows in most of my images look a bit on the darker side. The sweet spot seems to be +2/3 comp. Is this normal with fuji? Are they programmed to meter more towards the highlights? I started with a Nikon D5600 and most of the time the exposure was balanced. I'm still struggling with the X-E3 exposure. Thanks.
Did you maybe do something about the shadow tones in the custom settings? If you push them (e.g. +2) you will darken them. But yes, in general I also think that the X-E3 is a little "dark" in the standard...Hope this is helpful... Thx for watching!
All Fujifilm X cameras I have used expose a little on the dark side, the exposure compensation dial is mostly set to +1/3 or +2/3. I use the histogram to judge exposure these days, so I don’t really mind.
Hey. Thanks for the video! Can you say few words? I can’t choose: x-e3 or x-pro2. I like the x-e form factor, but the undoubted advantages of the pro, such as moisture protection. However, the main thing: according to all reviews, it turns out that these two models are almost identical in technical terms. Tell me, if we discard the external conveniences and advantages of x-pro, in technical terms, they are very different? Or x-e3 and x-pro2 give roughly the same result? Sorry for my English and hello from Ukraine! :)
Hey Rom. Sorry for the late answer, I missed your comment somehow. As the two cameras share the same generation of Sensor/Processor the results should be almost identical. If you care about the form factor most, you have to go with the X-E3, even if the X-Pro is also not really that big. Check this URL for a detailed comparison: cameradecision.com/compare/Fujifilm-X-E3-vs-Fujifilm-X-Pro2 I hope this is helpful. Thx for watching!
More interesting combo is x-e1 or x-pro1 with fujinon 35 1.4. Better picture, slow, but autofocus. Used is same price. Chinese lenses are not contrast blurry waste of money.
Ist das eine neue Version des 35mm/1.4? Eigentlich habe ich diese Linse auch. Sieht aber anders aus. Zum runterkommen und Spaß haben sehr gut geeignet.
I'd rather use the Xtrans 3 sensor any day of the week over the X-Trans 4. I have had an X-H1 and an X-T3 for the last few years and I finally sold the X-T3 and bought the X-E3. The sensor in the X-T3 is just not good in my opinion. I love the sensor in the X-Pro2, X-H1, X-T2, X-E3 X-T20 etc. Great video by the way but stressing that the X-E3 is also just as good for street work as an X-Pro2 is essential. You called it a great beginners camera. I think that is not doing it the justice it deserves. The X-E2 or 1 is a great beginners camera. Cheap, slow, forces you to learn. Jut my 2 cents...
Hey Thomas. Coming from the X-E3 and as a user of the X70 for quite some time, I don't get this "older sensor" discussion that has been started all over YT now. The X-Trans IV is delivering excellent images as well. Not only regarding IQ but also regarding - let's say - character. Of course I agree, that spending less money is better for beginners and this is what this video is all about. The X-E3 is an excellent choice, but the newer cameras are as well. Thanks for watching!
@@Jayshooter_photo So, I did a direct side by side comparison of my sensors when I had the X-T3. I wanted the same colors and dynamic range I was getting from the X-Trans-3 (My X-H1) but couldn't match it. The files from the X-T3 had colors that seemed overdone, off kilter and in some ways not very three dimensional. Ill be honest though, I wouldn't buy an X-E2. I don't like the lower resolution and frankly I am not a fan of the colors on that one either. I think the X-Trans III, at least in my mind is the best sensor they have made. The 2/3 inch sensor in the X10 was also astounding and when they built the X20 they moved to a new sensor which also made no sense to me.
