What a blast! I am originally from Aliquippa but Beaver County was my playground growing up. I remember the Aliquippa & Southern dumping the slag along the river more so from across the river in Baden while my parents took me to the "Northern Lights Shopping Center" to visit Sears and making my parents wait until they dumped a new car of hot melt over the hill. We spent a lot of time along the P&LE at the Aliquippa station. Thanks for the rewind!
This might be a bit of a hike for you in western PA, but there is a wonderful club in Mechanicsburg, the club name is The Keystone Model Railroad Historical society. I have been a member for more than 20 years and I love that layout, we will have some open houses in May but it is an amazing group and layout!
I run through Mechanicsburg twice a week in my big truck. I'd love to stop and see it. I'm gettin into model railroading. Going to attempt my first layout this winter...thanks for this video. Amazing layout
Every year Christmas Story shows on 2 networks at home an hour apart. I will watch both channels the whole time, I have my favorite moments to watch so every half hour I'm flipping back and forth. I usually watch the entirety of the last showing.
Northeast Ohio Native, I love your content brings me back home, Grandfather worked for the Erie Lackawanna, always wanted to do a EL layout haven’t had any kind of a layout since I was young back in the late 70s and early 80s I have been watching your videos and have been inspired once again, a big Thank You!
Hi DJ, this is Shawn and want to thank you for the pic and brochure on the Delaware & Hudson railroad! I'm very grateful for your kindness and generosity. I'll continue to be a subscriber to your channel along w watching your videos! Thanks again and Happy Holidays to you my friend!
That is an awesome layout at the model railroad club. It’s been a long time since I went to see a display. That was so funny with you and your daughter at the end. I laughed so hard with you and the leg lamp and your daughter inside the cabinet lol
What a PHENOMENAL layout! I've watched this video twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. The detail in this layout definitely shows the time and effort put into it! The green and yellow switcher caught my eye immediately along w the NS 911 locomotive. I have a friend who gets to operate it a lot out of the EDGEMOOR yard in Wilmington, Delaware. Thanks again for sharing this video DJ and keep up the good work my friend! The Christmas Bonus was priceless and that's so cool you got to see that house and the props from the movie!
What an amazing layout I just ripped down my 4ft by 26 ft ho layout the curves were killing me now doing a point to point w passenger cars and plenty of switchong
Oh, a new video from DJ: 1. Click thumb-up. 2. Click "Play" 3. Go full-screen 4. Enjoy! I liked the first area of the layout, as it reminded me of growing up in Johnstown in the 50s. That old GM bus, the PCC streetcar... with sparks on the overhead wire. Also the steel buildings with the glowing metal... even in the cars. The steam exhaust from a cooling tower, so many details. Thanks for uploading and Merry Christmas. I have yet to see "Christmas Story."
I used to belong to that club many years ago.....when it was on the 3rd floor of a bank building in freedom pa.....it was a great experience growing up...my friend and I were the first junior members of the club
Fantastic layout, so much detail and hard work went into that. The bonus shots were fun. Your daughter is a cutie and has that DJ smile! Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy 20221. Bob
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I have never seen the Christmas Story movie. I have never been able to get past the opening scene. I will take your word that it is a good movie. My favorite is “Scrooge” starring Alastair Sim, one of the best performance of that role. Enjoy your holiday and your movie.
i even like the train station at night reminds of the town i live in with old train station in Merchantville there was a set tracks which a passenger train came tru from Philadelphia pa and this was a major stop before heading up north more
Hi DJ, Yes Suzie and I love the Christmas Story movie as well and going to visit the Christmas Story House in Cleveland is on our bucket list. DJ, Wishing you, Teresa and your daughter a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year. Cheers, Rich S.
@@djstrains definitely worth the trip. Better then the other two. But not as good as The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum in Gibsonia. But I think WPMRM gets funding. They are all great layouts and worth seeing. For everyone you can visit all 4 in a nice day trip.
First of all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to You and Your family, DJ. Thank You for all your information over the Years and the insite s on the videos You have taken the time to do. All the best in the upcoming New Year's.
Thank you Bruce, that was very appreciated. They are time consuming to edit (up to 8 hours at times). But when someone sends me pics of a scratch built building that I inspired them to attempt, or a layout that finally makes them feel like they understand how the railroad works, then I feel satisfaction. I wish I had this info growing up pre internet. I enjoy learning and teaching. It’s rewarding when I get positive feedback like this. Merry Christmas and have a great 2022, my friend

DJ, deep down inside of you--under that engineer's exterior--there is a poet or a novelist yearning to break free! 😎 @0:29 "it's not modeled after an actual place, but there's so much that just makes you feel like heck, I wanna know where this place is at.... I have always ran dc. I just recently got a dcc controller send some dcc locomotives. I'm hesitant because I was told I could burn stuff up if not careful. I hate hiw confusing it is for me. I just would like to run dc and dcc but everywhere I go for help it gets me no where.
I have the NCE system and I do N Scale. If I short something, it automatically trips the system and shuts off and restarts until I figure out where it is.

That new Kenworth looks really odd among the 1930's through 1950's vehicles.
maybe a delorean would have been better, lol.
By the way, your daughter is a real sport. 🏆
Greatest kid in the world!
How are they running all of the those trains with minimal signals lol 😆
Yep I had those one piece pajamas, lol that was a sad look for a little kid back then.
LOL!!!
Thanks, DJ! It is a nice layout.
But how did the old man get from my English village to PA? 3:34

Love your namesake.
How fast can a train go in the first notch?
Lots of variables, like weight of train, grade, etc.
If I’m starting a heavy train, I might not even get it to move until 4th notch!
How can I donate to the club!?
