🕺🏻ABOUT DJ: DJ is a locomotive engineer for CSX Railroad since 1999. He has built dozens of layouts, gave presentations for model railroaders, is a UA-camr, licensed drone pilot, and a great father.
Great layouts. I wish more people modeled American outline here in the UK and brought them to exhibitions.
I’m just starting to in N scale
Great job narrating and using the FAB (Feature, Advantage, Benefit) technique of applying to modeling techniques
Nice layout. DJ, your videography is terrific and really added to the video. Thanks for sharing! Happy new year 🥳
Thank you very much! Have a great 2022
Very nice layouts. The steel mill on the ho scale layout looked amazing. Like you said with all the buildings so close together it really gave it a realistic feel. Good video. 👍
Great video and the camera work professional unlike most others.
I sincerely appreciate that!
Best regards for the new year.
awe thanks Joel! You Too!!!
Great layouts and great video D.J. I love to see the work others are doing for inspiration, new ideas and just pure entertainment. I would like to see more on N-Scale layouts too.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wonderful video! Great ideas, beautiful trains & great trees.
Thanks for visiting
Favorite part had to be the Bangor and Aroostook refrigerator car at 5:44. Couldn't see much of it, but it was there.
djsrains! Yeah~ how nice -farewell!
Very nice layouts and Nice Video
Hell yeah. Happy New Year DJ! Looking forward to more great content next year!
More to come!
@@djstrainssince you're an engineer why is it that coal trains are pulled by 3 digit number locomotives and other manifest trains have 4 digit number locomotives?
@@shawnpowell5876 that is not correct. Coal trains are usually;;y the heaviest trains we run, so they are given the best power in our roster at times. Some trains may not require distributed power, which isn't equipped on all older engines. Many factors, has nothing to do with engine numbers.
What I’m noticing is more scenery then track. Lots of people get hung up on having to have the most track they can squeeze in but really you should have more scenery then track.
Train setup
Thanks for this great video!!
Glad you liked it!
Incredible layouts! Such beautiful modeling.
Thanks DJ for the inspiration. So much railroading to do, so little time! Happy New Year!
Very Bernie
Well thought out model railroad. Everything blends well to produce a smooth running and believable recreation of railroading.
I really liked the helicopter leaving the lighted helipad. Overall, the layout detail was very good
You mentioned railroads putting their names on bridges and that reminded me of a UP bridge next US 30 near Multnomah Falls in Oregon that
lists to RR mileage from that bridge to Portland in the west and east to Boise. I have a picture of it somewhere.
Fantastic layouts! So much to see.can't take it all in just once.fantastic amount of details.
Reminds me of the cambria and indiana sign on their old bridge. And that transfer table and round house looks close to the ns shops in altoona. Awesome
The Happiest of New Year's to you DJ !!!
Imma make you proud DJ. I’ll make a z scale layout
nice
Very impressive layouts. I will be watching this over many times, because I am modeling 1960-1980 timeframe. Your videos are inspiring me to unpack all my stuff after 20 years. Happy New Year!
Awesome! Thank you!
All I can say is KABOOM! What an AMAZING layout, the mountains are so lifelike it's unbelievable! And yes the tunnels and bridges had to be installed without a doubt! That layout was DONE RIGHT for sure. The detail work is spot on for the H.O.SCALE and I emphasize that being an H.O.SCALE FAN! Thanks for sharing this video DJ and your commentary added to it is icing on the cake! Oh, btw how could I get a CSX reflective safety vest to put in my railroad room? I've got an NS and DCR already w having a couple friends who work at each railroad.
I can't help with that, sorry.
Thanks for another interesting and inspiring layout tour, DJ. Most appreciated. Hope you and yours have a Happy New Year.
Thanks for watching! Have a great 2022!

Great tour DJ, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
cut the n scale short
I had trouble filming because of the amount of people that were there. Footage I still have may be used in future.
Hey, can you tell me when the locomotives got air-conditioning, I thought they had them for years but someone told me no that they just started putting them in a few years ago. Which shocked me, I retired out of the USAR After 20 plus years and a Vietnam Marine Veteran and as of 1998 they didn't have air conditioning. I am not sure they even have them now. Thank you for any information and I want to wish you and your family a Happy Safe New Year.
The wide bodies had them when I hired in 1999. The GP40s only got them within the last handful of years.
@@djstrains thank you, so they were like the Military and Cat. What heat? That's normal stop complaining or we will charge you for the sauna baths. Guys on 3rd shift would work in their underwear, it got up to 140 a couple times in the shop.
