The Colorado Model Railroad Museum hosts not only a rich collection of historic railroading relics and artifacts... It also has a full size Colorado & Southern Caboose... And several small train layouts for children to get excited about... and this - the largest operating HO Scale museum layout in the region.

I have family near Greeley CO, so I stop by the museum every time I visit family.
I been there 2 times injoyed
My wife Jenny and I visited the museum in the first week of July 2021 as part of our honeymoon. Jenny was so amazed with the amount of detail. The staff, or volunteers were so friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you guys and gals for keeping the hobby alive. We will be back from Gravette Arkansas.

visited on a great Rocky Mountains train-cation last year. Absolutely glad I decided to make the stop and chat with everybody who was there. Even being late because we just had to catch a train through Fort Collins.

I was so bummed when I went to colarado and the layout musuem was closed the day I drove into town to see it so I went to the transportation musuem to see one of the big boys and then the railroad musuem outside golden and had a blast
An then I thought I really had a cool layout…fantastic!
My wife and I visited in August and really enjoyed seeing it in person, a well as meeting the host, who I also ran into at the Timonium train Show a couple months later. Small world!
I LOVE this awesome large train set project & it really imspire my little dreams to start my own little train set project one day......

Every city needs one of these. Its amazing.
49 seconds in and I love it. His use of weathering is so accurate. So many people want to keep their stock looking like it just came out of the box and while 2 or 3 cars on a layout could look like they were just shopped that is not how real life units look. And I have worked some really dirty equipment (before AMTRAK I worked a live coal fired steam tourist line that was hand shoveled. I know dirt)

What an incredible layout. It would be neat to put a small GoPro on a flatbed car in front of the engine and film an entire loop. Or, all of the loops. Thank you for sharing.

@@tsgmultimedia that's definitely a very cool way to tour the layout. I watched a video that was about an hour long of a layout in Germany. I didn't see what they were using but I'm guessing it might've been something similar to what I suggested. What you guys have done there is next level.
I continually am blown away by watching YT videos on model railroading. This one though….. WOW! Cannot even fathom the work and cost that goes into this incredible layout. Boggles the mind….Amtrak should take a lesson from these guys!

The Le Mesa club that does the Tehachapi loop, at the San Diego Model railroad museum has a real Santa Fe switchboard that was donated to the club in the museum.
One of my greatest tours was the old John Allen’s Gorre & Daphetid Railroad in California. Your model railroad, with its mirrors, reminded of the old days. Thank you
I remember that Rail Road when I saw it in RMC years ago. I was a young just starting out model railroader then. I understand not long after John passed the railroad was destroyed in a fire. So many fine model railroads get destroyed one way or another when we should be preserving them for future generations.
I use to see the bigboys on the tehachapi turn back when i was a small boy.

Wonderful labor of love for Model Railroading. My brothers and I have built model railroads in HO. We built our first RXR in HO in Tokyo Japan, 1953, while our Dad served in US ARMY in South Korea. Stories are to much to relate to you all here. Thank you for fantastic video!

You really have to know what you are doing to operate in ctc mode. Having all those trains running, keeping their length, location, and destination in mind with no collisions. It makes you appreciate what the operators of a real railroad had to do before computers. Beautiful detailed layout. Thank you for the explanation of the operation. Nicely done video.

Beautiful job! The amount of work, planning and craftsmanship that went into this layout is mind bending. I do have to say though, this is the first time I've ever seen a ore train that high up in the mountains anywhere! Ha Ha...
