You just gotta love how at the 1:08 mark, Sarah smiles when she hears the 3 part harmony kick in for that one beat. That's true love of music from the heart!
I'm in love....to hold your own note and beat, just music*~€. Love how, sometimes difficult to tell which one of three is releasing which note, yet together they blend which such a crisp light harmony that that thought soon becomes superfluous....
3 fantastic musicians and a wonderful performance. A joy to watch and listen to them collaborating. But my heart does, and always will, belong to Sarah Jarosz.
These are 3 of the most beautiful and talented female vocalists I have ever heard! I recently stumbled across the I'm with her videos and have fell in LOVE! I really hope they continue to tour together! However, their website currently does not have any 2017 dates listed.
They did a really nice rendition at CelebrateBrooklyn in Prospect Park last night at the end of Sarah J's solo set. Hope they expand this project, they sound marvelous together.
Is there going to be a CD released? I listen to you as soloists. This collaboration is lovely and thrilling. Hope you come to San Francisco. Loved hearing you on Prairie Home Companion
Key-wrecked. And if no woman would fall for it, next to no women would fall at all until the day when everyone must fall, thanks to daddy - and mama and all . . .
I'm guessing they overdubbed later? All that air movement, especially if on a ship: I'd think there'd be a lot of wind and background noise on the mics. Not saying that to detract...because, I mean, they're them. Just curious.
That would definitely be the case. The audio must be a studio recording. I agree that it does not detract from their talent for performing this live. There is at least one live version of this song on youtube and they nail it with the same precision in that recording.
Just great. Nothign beats vocal harmonies and this is the bgigest problem with "current" music. AND HOW did they get such a clear sound with all that wind blowing their hair around?
It's a impressive minimalistic arrangement- Lisa Hannigan and Damian Rice although did it first and in my opinion better. Just to make it clear: I have nothing against reusing or referring to someones artistic work- I take the Woody Guthrie approach regarding that matter... But I like Lisas interpretation more. ;)
I'm going to take a guess based on the date this came out and say that they came up with "I'm with Her" before that became a slogan in the most recent presidential election...
I wish this would credit Nina Simone with the original. This is fun to listen to, but i do wish it did more storytelling - the lyrics about abuse are a little jarring when they register with you out of the blue. Look up Nina Simone's version.
+Paul Connah Oops. That's another "Rosie" as this song is called on the Lomax recordings. C.B. Cook ("88") is identified as the lead singer on the version of "Rosie" that seems to be the precursor of Nina's "Be My Husband."
+Liz Schmitt My original comment has disappeared. I said that I hoped Nina Simone credited the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman (known as Parchman Farm) inmates that Alan Lomax credited when he published the recordings he made there in 1947. I misidentified the lead singer and made the correction below.
Aoife O'Donovan. Google Sarah Jarosz on Prairie Home Companion and many times the three of them are there together. They also were touring as a trio last year.
Should Renée Fleming give credit to Wagner, or to Maria Callas when she sings Isolde? Or Frida Leider? Nina Simone, as I presume you're referring too, has made this song her own, but she didn't write it, nor was she the first to perform it. Bringing this song is giving credit to this song, and making curious people aware of other versions sooner rather than later. It made me look up Nina Simone, a magnificent piece, I agree.
Same reason a mandolin has double courses. Simon and Garfunkel used unisons tastefully throughout their career. This arrangement is trippy, there's plenty of unisons and then it splits off into two- and three- part harmonies at different times. Unisons are tough to pull off.
John Schwarzkopf There is nothing like a boat visible in this vid. And nobody said a thing about sluts before you did. Are you only only 10 years old or what, because anyone remotely familiar with music videos knows that the fan in the face has always been used to boost sex appeal. Grow up.
Chick chicka woot woot, lap and clap and reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fillerup with awesome sauce pick that locked heart my monnd key
What is coming from these women is romanticised sadomasochism, and sadomasochism can be a sad, compulsive and obsessive affliction that deserves understanding, compassion and intelligent, scrupulous resolution, remedy, liberation. Sadomasochism can also result in collaborators; unscrupulous opportunists who will betray themselves and anyone else to ingratiate themselves with an oppressor or a sadist, in a desperate attempt to save or advance themselves. Among these and other kinds of sadomasochists and collaborators down through the numberless millenia are millions, even billions of women, heedlessly evoked in this wretched treatment of this song, who said to some 'mean Daddy', some transparent bastard, 'Be my Husband' and were subsequently just beaten up by him, or both beaten up and murdered by him, along with all their children. These three women are effectively selling themselves and their sisters to their enemies. Many of their sisters are lapping it up and many of their brothers are licking their hellish chops. Nina Simone's version invokes the reality of this ancient tide of needless misery.

This is the grand traditional sadomasochistic road to hell: "Oh Daddy, love me good" and "Please don't treat me so doggone mean, you're the meanest man I've ever seen" and "If you want me to, I'll cook and sew, outside of you there is no place to go" and "Be my husband and I'll be your wife" and so on and on and on for thousands of years past until doomsday. The 'daddy's little girl' voices and demeanour, eyes now downcast and then the demure wide-eyed pleas, the rosebud lipstick, the gentle swaying motion of the slender reeds fatalistically presenting themselves to the reaper . . . And unlike Nina's version, there is no irony or dolour in their evocations, only the same old perverse misconception of love that has always been passed off as inevitable normality. Girls like these (they're hardly credible here as women) and all girls and women, need to cook and sew for a mean daddy who couldn't love them even if he would, infinitely less than a fish needs a well boiled icicle.
You just gotta love how at the 1:08 mark, Sarah smiles when she hears the 3 part harmony kick in for that one beat. That's true love of music from the heart!
Yea that's a good idea to do it 9th to get Kinny some lunch
Sometimes certain songs/performances stop you in your tracks and compel you to listen. This was/is one of those! BRILLIANT!
Yes I agree
Unique stomp and clap to a chant and invocation for love offered to thy spouse ..... in harmony and haunting chorus ! Love it.
A cappella done with perfect harmonizing... Now that is good singing!
Wow - what a delight! No instruments except their voices and such great rhythm
Perfect foot time & hand clapping
One of my favorite songs redone beautifully! Each of these women lend something very special to this song.
Pg
Every time I hear these ladies sing I can't help but think it's the most beautiful version of that song I've ever heard.
I'm in love....to hold your own note and beat, just music*~€. Love how, sometimes difficult to tell which one of three is releasing which note, yet together they blend which such a crisp light harmony that that thought soon becomes superfluous....
Pure enjoyment listening to these three extraordinary artist's 👏👏👏
3 fantastic musicians and a wonderful performance. A joy to watch and listen to them collaborating. But my heart does, and always will, belong to Sarah Jarosz.
ABSOLUTELY!
Love 'em. I missed their whole rise as I'm With Her. Their voices, harmonies, and arrangements blow me away.
Lovely vocals and lovely images.

How do people like this find each other? Kinda makes you want to believe in a higher power, if you don't already. 🖤
All those bluegrass/jazz festivals help introduce artists to each other... as well as to the public 🙂
I am 100% thrilled with this Watkins, Jarosz and O'Donovan collaboration, but could you imagine if Odessa Jorgensen was in this group as well?
First heard this song on Newport Folk Radio...have seen these lovely ladies with Chris Thile on Prairie Home
Fantastic harmonies!
Love their sound.
Beautiful singing and ladies❤
They did a really nice rendition at CelebrateBrooklyn in Prospect Park last night at the end of Sarah J's solo set. Hope they expand this project, they sound marvelous together.
I was there! Punch bros in the rain was one of the best concerts I've been to in a long time :D
Breathtaking! Brilliant, simple as that.
Is there going to be a CD released? I listen to you as soloists. This collaboration is lovely and thrilling. Hope you come to San Francisco. Loved hearing you on Prairie Home Companion
Amazing , jarosz so underrated
I'm seeing her next month in Tampa...so psyched, she never seems to make it down here.
They're all freakishly gifted.
They're all so excellent . I'm starting to think Sarah is the best solo singer of them
Love the message.......
Beautiful Sounds x Three.🎶
Ooooooo. So much talent.
Brilliant, I love this.
So awesome!!!
Hello Sara you have brought something great into my small world
Incredible!
Simply extraordinary!
oh my gosh! oh my gosh!! thats a 10 on the holy crap scale!!!
Wowsa! Over the top!

Outside of Nina’s, this is THE BEST rendition of the song
The Ed Sheeran version is just completely wrong. :-P
I love this so much
Aoife O'Donovan、Sarah Jarosz and Sara Watkins, all you are great
Nice try, sirens. I won't fall for that trick again.
Oh my boat is thrown in tempest upon the shore
lol. whatch up bro....
Key-wrecked. And if no woman would fall for it, next to no women would fall at all until the day when everyone must fall, thanks to daddy - and mama and all . . .
Im dead😂😂
192 dislikers already have no souls.
The producer deserves a credit.
but why is it so windy?
+The Vanky Hair in lipstick is super annoying. I'd be so distracted.
+Jennifer Rummler this was filmed on the deck of a ship..
+The Vanky it was filmed on the deck of a ship during the Prairie Home Comp Tour
+The Vanky Because her toenails are red.
When they sang Rosalie - I immediately thought of Doc - just made me laugh (three top talents smart, smart, smart)
I'm guessing they overdubbed later? All that air movement, especially if on a ship: I'd think there'd be a lot of wind and background noise on the mics. Not saying that to detract...because, I mean, they're them. Just curious.

This is so good, it's scary...scary good
Excellent
15 people will not be my husband. :-D
Edit: after 2 years, 130 people will not be my husband. This is a great process of elimination. :-D
So you"re saying you're not married....interesting
@@mikewatkins2429 INTERESTING...🤔
.
Hello, someone have the letter of this song... Thank You!
+Arleydy Quevedo letras.com/ed-sheeran/be-my-husband/
Thank You! Paulina... :)
The fan is cool. Good tune ladies!
Mike Mitchell I think this was filmed on a ship.. during the PHC cruise
Freaking Brilliant!
Love it, but wish the audio wasn't clipping on the loud notes.
hell yeah :-(
It's good! That's all there is to it.
What I don't understand is how the mic didn't pick up the hurricane around them, too.
nice trio
❤❤❤
Well I like that for sure. I haven't been doing much at all. Did you get to meet that Melissa girl?
yes mam
This great song was filmed indoors, yet there seems to be a fairly strong breeze. Special effects? I don't think that it added to the video.
This was filmed on the deck of a ship during the Prairie Home Companion cruise. :)
♥️
Don't we just love them?

someone turn off that damn fan!!
+Michael Corley no fans... filmed on The Prairie Home Comp Cruise ....live on ship
+Sharon Mickey there's a prarie home companion cruise?!?!?!?!? and you get to listen to this music?!?! omg what a white nerd wet dream!! sign me up!!!
Kinny. Hall
hahahaha trolololo
What a great rendition of this song! I think NIna Simone would haved loved it.
cool
I'm going to take a guess based on the date this came out and say that they came up with "I'm with Her" before that became a slogan in the most recent presidential election...
yes.

"Rosie." What do I know?

This one is the original: C.B. and ten others with axes from Mississippi State Penitentiary ua-cam.com/video/es-5VEFM49Q/v-deo.html
This is so damn attractive.
That was fun! Love the Sarahs but I'm not familiar with the other lady...
+Link Union She is most known for her work in Crooked Still.
Aoife O'Donovan. Google Sarah Jarosz on Prairie Home Companion and many times the three of them are there together. They also were touring as a trio last year.
Sorry, I forgot they included the name up top.
I made that promise. What happened?
Interesting....
Done ;-)
I wish this great song wasn't about husbands.
on the dot
they were good all I ask for artists to do is give credit to the artists they are covering.

Cut! Could someone please shut that damn window?
I just lost my virginity!! damn!!! smart! soul to soul!
I will be your husband
Omg...I love you baby...I love you good... love you good..
Pissah!
I've consistently left positive comments for these ladies' work. I always had, anyway (the blowing hair is a bit ridiculous and unwatchable.)
whats the point of them all singing the same pitch...
+David Hoggan I guess they were going for a chant-like effect
+David Hoggan Two people singing in unison does not sound the same as one person singing.
Same reason a mandolin has double courses. Simon and Garfunkel used unisons tastefully throughout their career. This arrangement is trippy, there's plenty of unisons and then it splits off into two- and three- part harmonies at different times. Unisons are tough to pull off.
Good question. I think it would be cool if one of them ripped it up just a bit now and then or maybe a fourth.
Minimalist. Maybe too minimalist.
It's a cover
Great singing, but why is that studio so windy? Seems like a very unfortunate bid for sex appeal. Keep it real, ladies.
quartzimaging Apparently it was filmed on a moving ship, so it's actually just natural wind, not a bid for sex appeal :)
quartzimaging I heard this was filmed on that PHC cruise Garrison Keiller
quartzimaging These girls have something very special here... I hope they come to Austin

Hands down, this has got to be my favorite song about incest
Ingi Diego I Never listened to the lyrics
Ingi Diego ah, “oh daddy love me good”
Ingi Diego guys... "daddy" was a term used often to address one's male significant other back when this song was originally written.
needin some Thile in there somewhere!
A Nina Simone cover.

I don’t trust each of them.

Can't get much more basic
Seriously?! 3 awesome voices and pretty much no vocal harmony. Wasted.
