    • @freddycjpp3660
      @freddycjpp3660 7 років тому

      Is it rubbing the metal dusk shield behind the brake rotor? Or the wheel well/fender liner? A wheel spacer can fix some issues, but can also create others.

    • @YorumiTech
      @YorumiTech 7 років тому

      Freddy CJPP the fender liners, when i turns hard left or right, it rubs on to it. however i dont know how to find out what width of spacer should i be using

    • @freddycjpp3660
      @freddycjpp3660 7 років тому +4

      If it's hitting the fender liner it sounds like you might have too large tire diameter. Get the car up in the air and turn the wheels full lock in each direction and look at the room you have, you can experiment with putting washers on the studs to act as spacers then putting the wheel on and see what your clearance is like. If/when you find a good fit measure the thickness of washers. You may need to get longer wheel studs as well when you get spacers.

    Thank you so much for this video. Helped me understand a lot about offset. I recently bought 2018 VW GTI autobann with 18*7.5 rims on 225/40R/18 summer tires with 49mm offset. I have a set of old 2014 Jetta winters tires sitting around which are 17*7 on 225/45R/17 with offset of 54mm... not sure if these will fit without rubbing any suspension/brakes etc? Any help will be appreciated :)

  • @el-hp1lj

    if you have a 17x7 wheel with say... 40et offset and wanted to go to a wider wheel. go with 17x8 at 30-35et 17x9 20-30et. roughly this will allow the wheel to stay positioned correctly to avoid contacting the suspension. although the wider you go the more poke will stick out the fender. each car has its limits with wheel size. usually when you push the limits you run into fitment problems, heavy wheels,extra stress on the suspension and brakes.

    Hi. It would be ok to use rims with a offset something between 38 and 46(different models) if the one from manual is 43?
    Does this differences are ok without touching the arm or car body?
    Also if the original wheels are 6 inch wide, can I use 6.5 inch with the same tires? do you think will touch the arm when steering to maximum, or half of inch is accepted?
