- On this episode of ChampTalk, Nick guides us through how important it is to keep your brake pistons clean. If you are like most of us, this is a simple maintenance task that is usually overlooked.
Being that braking is the most important tool at our disposal on any motorcycle, we want to make sure we keep all of the moving parts, cleaned and well maintained.

Very cool thank you
F’n-A!
This was a very helpful vid!
And I will always wear gloves so I can keep my youthful appearance
Another way with pistons is clean one and replace and remove the other and clean…
Great clip. Thanks, Nick, and everyone at ChampSchool for being so generous in sharing your passion and knowledge. I'm learning so much from ChampSchool.
Freakin brilliant, as always!!
What if I have a NEW bike (RS660) and the front wheel already doesn't spin freely because the brakes are dragging? The brakes on this bike have been weird from the moment I sat on it in the dealership. They always stop the bike, but the lever feels thick and draggy and the bite point is inconsistent. I've bled them from every nipple I can find and have had professional mechanics bleed them as well.
I've rebuilt brakes on multiple bikes, and always use BrakeCrafters after having them recommended by another racer friend. I thought I knew a lot about brakes and how to properly maintain them, but still learned a lot from this great video! Thanks!
When ive run into calipers with stuck pistons, ill use air but not allow all the pistons to push out. Ive stuck a pad back in the caliper and used a c clamp to hold free moving pistons in and really pushes on the stuck ones
What brake pads do you use? Is there a brand or type that you like the most for track sport bikes? Thanks for what you do!
super helpful.
