The level of detail you go in to in all your farming videos really empowers people with the knowledge to make farm designs of their own, amazing work as always.
To make this work properly in 1.17 I had to change the amount of powder snow and the space in the nether: 35 blocks of powder snow vertically (35*4=140 total) and 28 blocks of air vertically above the slabs (without counting the half block of the slab)

I just realised how good these videos are, because I feel like I could build this kind of farm myself. Not because I watched a tutorial, but because I understand the mechanics that make the farm work. Nice!
A NOTE FOR PEOPLE BUILDING THIS: As of 1.17.1 you need 35 tall blocks of powdered snow with 28 air blocks high above the slabs. Otherwise the guardians DO NOT hit the cooldown. This took some troubleshooting maybe if @Gnembon sees this he will update the description with this psa. Once I got the farm working it slaps. 30 xp levels in about 40 seconds is crazy!
A few notes for anyone trying to build this in survival: -Make sure you adjust the drop tower to have 35 blocks of powder snow vertically, and 28 blocks of air underneath + the slab block. -When you go to build the drop area, make sure you align the entry portal in the enchanting room and the one in the nether exactly, even a few blocks off can prevent the portals from linking. -The 2 water source blocks the guardians fall back into in the overworld should have something like soul soil under them, so you can replace the water with 4x wither roses to put the farm in an automatic, non-xp gathering mode. You will also need to extend the hoppers and hopper minecarts underneath.
That's amazing but the draining of the ocean monument is quite a lot of work. It's an "endgame" farm So in early game the endermanfarm will still have it's place due to being so easy and fast to build
End game? I'm not so sure. Invisibility potions are not too difficult to brew, so removing the structure with that whilst grindy isn't too hard as long as you have a conduit (or just also brew water-breathing potions). Afterwards. There is several flying machine designs you can go with that will delete the water for you that really don't take too much in the way of resources to make. Such as Ilmango's "Automatic Water Remover v2" which still works as of 1.16.4 ua-cam.com/video/Wwm22Tr41J8/v-deo.html and was even showed in this video as the way to remove water. Hope this information helps!
An enderman farm is by no means earlygame. You still have to find the end portal, kill enough non-farmable endermen to fill the portal, defeat the ender dragon and build a farm over the void.
It still works in 1.19 but it seems they changed the guardian AI a bit they now die to cramming a lot more in the water at the back of the collection system. To prevent this I just placed four source blocks at the back (one block behind and above the waterlogged stairs) with watterlogged ladders inside them to prevent cramming. Without this I only get about 180 guardians per batch but with this change I'm up to about 450. Have fun building. Edit: And I used 35 blocks of powder snow instead of the 22 he says as well as 28 instead of the 30 block drop.

Instead of 22 powdered snow you can use 38 blocks of honey if you want to build it in 1.16. Also, in the most recent snapshot they changed how fast you move in the snow so you will still have to adjust the amount.
@@montanasnack7483 honey should work, and I think there's also talks about vines working aswell but i dont know if vines are consistent as need to retest.
tl;dr In the Nether: 33 powder snow 28 air Just spent a lot of time tweaking this in my world and for the guardians falling through the nether it needed 33 blocks of powder snow followed by 28 air blocks for the the portal cooldown and the HP of the guardians down to 1 without losing them in the nether to fall damage or jumping into the 'safety' lava and still getting them all with a single instant damage potion in the overworld. Java 1.18.1
i found that in the 1.17 release we got i needed about 34 blocks of powdered snow to run down the guardian's portal cooldown completely. anyone looking to build this farm might want to experiment a little.
I was thinking the same thing, but as honey block hit box is a little smaller than a regular block you may have some issues with alignment, but i may test this out.
I think it is possible, you just need an open trapdoor to keep the guardian right next to the honey block and it will consistently get the slowed falling speed
I wish crammed mobs didn't lag our server so much. I never need huge amounts of XP like this. We usually just use a chicken breeding farm. You get xp when you breed them and again when you kill them (and again if you cook them or trade them with a villager.) I think I want to build a perfect silly farm where I get wheat and seeds automatically (villagers replanting with some of the seeds). Then I feed the excess seeds to the chickens and the wheat to cows. Kill the excess for raw chicken, feathers, steak and leather and trade it with the villagers for emeralds. Keep shooting the eggs into another chamber and every so often kill them too. Lousy xp yields but lots of emeralds. (Probably would be faster to just make a line of farmer villagers who have been cured so they'll trade emeralds 1 for 1 for pumpkins and do a giant pumpkin farm.)
I still can’t quite wrap my brain around the XP stacking but I understand it’s a good thing. Guess I’m making yet another guardian farm in 1.17. Last time I made Iskall’s... that was a painful few weeks to drain the ocean monument. But I’ve never done a farm using the nether. Bring on the pain...
I had the same thought but I think it wouldn't work because they have to hit one of the side of the tube and if you put other blocks below the guardian you probably get stuck because honey blocks aren't full blocks
You'd probably have to have a landing platform and push the guardians into the honey wall with slime blocks. And it would be kinda unreliable, because they would be hopping around on the landing platform.
Fantastic explanation of this mechanic. Wish you would do a set up of the farms proper or maybe u have? For me as a single player I cannot use the massive xp impute. I can get up to 50 easily in game with the mechanics I use. BUT in A SMP I can see the need to use this mechanic and knowing how I COULD use it later...
All low-world XP guardian farms are nerfed in 1.18 probably because of the introduction of -64 to 0 world generation. AFK based farms are fine however. Possibly a workaround would be to kill guardians in the nether instead with a chunk loader, but haven't tried.
Hey you! Yes, I am talking to you. Let me guess. You're too lazy to experiment. You have no idea how to fix this farm. Here's what you do: -Increase the height of the powder snow column to 34 blocks tall -Decrease the drop height from the bottom of the powder snow down to the bottom to 28.5 blocks This information is accurate as of 1.17 release
Why? Between the video release and 1.17, BOTH the fall speed of entities in powder snow went up AND they take damage from freezing a bit faster. Raising the height of the powder snow column alone is not enough because the guardians will take a few hits of freezing and die to fall damage. Thus you have to lengthen their fall through the snow to eliminate the portal cd (15s needed) AND decrease the open-air fall so that they only take enough damage to get them to 1-2 hp
i'm having serious trouble when linking the portals, the guardian farm portal which is supposed to be links to the upper nether portal always link to the bottom one and i can't fix it
I think something with the portal cooldown has changed or maybe the speed mobs fall through powdered snow? In your test world the guardians mostly either die in the nether or come through the player-portal, because they jump through the first portal and over the lava. Can you confirm that? Edit: 34 blocks of powdered snow now seems to be the magic number. Which of course also means the drop floor has to be lower.
I think the rate that XP can be processed should be increased depending on the level of the player or durability of the tool being mended. It takes so many more orbs to gain a level at higher levels, it would make sense if at higher levels (50 and above maybe?) the rate at which orbs can process should also be higher. Same for mending netherite tools, I think they should process XP faster than mending diamond.
Notes: I need info on the berry bush...for the cramming issue. It's as if the damage box is a fence size...not sure. Idea... Could you use a despenser/dropper with bottles... Just spent a lot of time tweaking this in my world and for the guardians falling through the nether it needed 33 blocks of powder snow followed by 28 air blocks for the the portal cooldown and the HP of the guardians down to 1 without losing them in the nether to fall damage or jumping into the 'safety' lava and still getting them all with a single instant damage potion in the overworld.
Java 1.18.1
Still not working good for me
@@ajniarapi5334 light up those caves, in 1.18 there are a LOT of underground spawning spaces
Now to just spend ten years getting all that powdered snow... o.o
gnembon I think the Enderman Putting Blocks Disaster need to be noticed more since 1.16
"secretly Olaf and loves summer"
Everytime a new episode goes to this series I always get the feeling to switch to java so baaaaad lol
Excellent video!
You can automatically place blocks using powder in a dispense I wonder what you''l make of that
the watter logged drop mechanic might solve the age old issue of cave spider farms
i found that in the 1.17 release we got i needed about 34 blocks of powdered snow to run down the guardian's portal cooldown completely. anyone looking to build this farm might want to experiment a little.
34 blocks tall (68 total) or 17 blocks tall (34 total)?
@@tastethedifferencecheese 34 blocks tall. But do experiment in a creative world to see if more/less work
Would it be possible to use the slowed falling effects of honey blocks to replicate this farm design in pre1.17?
I was thinking the same thing, but as honey block hit box is a little smaller than a regular block you may have some issues with alignment, but i may test this out.
It’s an idea to test (out)
considering that honey blocks aren't a full block, it probably wouldn't be as consistent.
Wouldn't they just push each other into a wall of a dropshoot anyways? So that they will collide with it and fall slowly.
I think it is possible, you just need an open trapdoor to keep the guardian right next to the honey block and it will consistently get the slowed falling speed
This is neat but im really looking forward to that ghast farm xiuma is building.
I needed a guardian do farm, thx
Before the best invention of the year:
WE NEEEEEED XP!!!!!!
After the video:
TOO MUCH XP!!!!!

Yes, yes, yes. That is all. (I'm hyped). :)
You're just the best. I mean the best.
your farms are absolutely incredible. i want to see you in hermitcraft so badly
He's in Scicraft
Love the Olaf reference
I wish crammed mobs didn't lag our server so much. I never need huge amounts of XP like this. We usually just use a chicken breeding farm. You get xp when you breed them and again when you kill them (and again if you cook them or trade them with a villager.)
I think I want to build a perfect silly farm where I get wheat and seeds automatically (villagers replanting with some of the seeds).
There’s a „T“ missing in the first word in your video description.
Love your vid‘s, keep it up!
1.17.1 update, 33 blocks of powdered snow vertical plus a 28.5 block drop. total of 132 powdered snow blocks are needed
Thank you very much, I did not know how to fix the farm
Omg nice
I still can’t quite wrap my brain around the XP stacking but I understand it’s a good thing. Guess I’m making yet another guardian farm in 1.17. Last time I made Iskall’s... that was a painful few weeks to drain the ocean monument. But I’ve never done a farm using the nether. Bring on the pain...
And videos like this for basic players are why I like ianxofour xD
Don't honey block also reduce the fall speed of entities? Maybe it too can be used instead of powdered snow in some way 🤔..... I can be wrong thoo
I had the same thought but I think it wouldn't work because they have to hit one of the side of the tube and if you put other blocks below the guardian you probably get stuck because honey blocks aren't full blocks
@@mrassassinhunter4139 could use something like cobble walls for the drop chamber
You'd probably have to have a landing platform and push the guardians into the honey wall with slime blocks. And it would be kinda unreliable, because they would be hopping around on the landing platform.
@@Winteg8 does that even change the speed of dropping entities

Fantastic explanation of this mechanic. Wish you would do a set up of the farms proper or maybe u have? For me as a single player I cannot use the massive xp impute. I can get up to 50 easily in game with the mechanics I use. BUT in A SMP I can see the need to use this mechanic and knowing how I COULD use it later...
My farm does not work in 1.18 how to fix it pls help
All low-world XP guardian farms are nerfed in 1.18 probably because of the introduction of -64 to 0 world generation. AFK based farms are fine however. Possibly a workaround would be to kill guardians in the nether instead with a chunk loader, but haven't tried.
Amazing Humor right there!
Very clever title!
Hey you! Yes, I am talking to you. Let me guess. You're too lazy to experiment. You have no idea how to fix this farm. Here's what you do:
-Increase the height of the powder snow column to 34 blocks tall
-Decrease the drop height from the bottom of the powder snow down to the bottom to 28.5 blocks
This information is accurate as of 1.17 release
Thanks for posting, i was struggling trying to get the height
Can i use cobwebs instead of powdered snow?
i'm having serious trouble when linking the portals, the guardian farm portal which is supposed to be links to the upper nether portal always link to the bottom one and i can't fix it
Yay there is a monument underneath my base and I am running low on xp!
Thanks for the sesighn
A very complicated first world problem. The solution's very impressive nonetheless.
So basically in 1.17 the cactus in your gold farm wont be necessary anymore, awesome! Also I will definitely be building this once 1.17 releases 😁
Which of course also means the drop floor has to be lower.
ive watched this video 3 or 4 times, and i just noticed the pun in the title lol
“It will spawn mobs as fast as your computer can handle”
Guess ill farm endermites instead...
Tysm so useful made it in my hardcore world
In 1.19, the XP drops from pure anger for the pigman farm hasn't been removed.
I admire your approach to Minecraft.. Perhaps a level above the average?!? 😎👍
Keep up the good work!
I feel like Illmango's cactus farm furnaces have something to give to your experience research... how do they "hold the count" of exp, anyways.
Good video
Im in 1.16.5 and i wanted to know if i could replace the powdered snow of this farm with weeping wines?
First Farm ill build when I update to 1.17 either to the snapshot or to the full version next year
Guardian farms are the best source of xp.
Bedrock players: Always has been
I don’t even play java edition but I still love watching these videos!
this should still work on bedrock. mob spawning works the same so should be interchangable
Will this work exactly the same on bedrock
@@jamestennyson4197 I don't play bedrock so I don't know but I'm about 90% sure it will
