  • In this video, you will learn how to use the Scanning/Cutting Position Adjustment feature on your Brother Scan and Cut. I demonstrate this with the ScanNCut CM350 and the SDX125. I explain how to align your blade so that you get an even amount of space around your cut out stamped images or patterned paper.

    The company ought to reward you somehow--in helping both SnC2 owners and SDX owners , you did not forget US (oldsters) and you are helping new owners, PLUS you are showing us the improvements in the SDX so that we may decide to upgrade at some point! WIN-WIN!! THANKS from the bottom of my heart!

    You did the correct thing by saying NO on the right side. I can see it is off just enough to not be in a perfect position. You don't need to settle for just okay and a make do attitude. You deserve better than that.

      I think my viewers were at a better angle than me because the camera was straight on. After 3 times, you will be happy to know that the position is correct. Now, I need to go back and try cutting out some cows and pigs to be sure but my cross-hairs are definitely aligned.

      You and me both. I can't wait to see what it does. After my last video and aligning my machine 3 times, I went to cut out the birds and the white space was not the same around all size. I was asking myself why I keep trying but until my replacement comes, I don't want to just give up.

      Kathy F I totally agree but once the machine features are set, it may be hard to reprogram them. As soon as the dust settles and my new machine works, I will be making some suggestions to Brother. One of them will be the ability to adjust the blade.

    Thank you for putting the machines in front of each other. This gave me a good view to compare the screens. I was under the impression that the sdx had a much larger screen than the older models, but it looks like that this is not true. One more reason not to buy the new model. I will wait till they sort out all their problems.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 років тому +1

      I really wish they would have surveyed users like us. I would have loved a bigger screen so I could do more without having to use Brother Canvas Workspace. Still, I like some features of the new machine. At this point and until I see it cut better with my own eyes, I can’t recommend it. I still recommend the CM350 because the alignment is much more accurate and I like controlling the blade depth because I’ve been doing a better job than the Autoblade.

      @@PaperedChef I am disappointed in the sales policy of Brother. I bought the CM 900 and only weeks later they came out with the wireless model without any prior announcement. If I had known I would have waited. Now they have this new model, but I get the impression it is rushed.

      Pia Cathmoir Well if it is any consolation to you, my first machine wasn’t wireless and I spent a year going back and forth with the USB stick or thumb drive. The wireless on my new machine doesn’t work either but it works great on my CM350 or ScanNCut 2.

    Thank you so much for all of your helpful videos using the Brother Scan and Cut. I have two of the CM 350s. The price has dropped to $215.00 on Walmart and Amazon so I don't think I'll be upgrading to the DX any time soon. • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  3 роки тому

      Each machine has a personality. My CM models work better than my SDX models. There are a lot of factors. Check the position of your machine in the relation to your lighting. Also, try using different white card stock. You will eventually get it to align after moving it around and trying different things. I eventually get my SDX to align which is why I have confidence that you will too.

    My problem I have with my 350 is that it seems like I have to realign the adjustment frequently. Also, why does it sometimes make a zigzaggy edge around some shapes when it's cutting out. Those are the two things that drive me crazy, otherwise I love the Scan and Cut. Sometimes I think I just look for something to cut out for the fun of it. :)

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 років тому +1

      If you draw a smooth line around the edge of something, it will not have a zig zag edge. Zig zags are why I never color before cutting. That way, I get more crisp outlines. I have replaced my blade holder before when the machine started to do what you describe. There are springs in there and they wear out. Get a new blade and holder if you have used your holder a lot and you should be good to go. Stay Sharp with a new Blade: amzn.to/2t0S9Hv

    • @PaperedChef

      You can only adjust it on the CM models. The DX models auto adjust. Sometimes, you have to repeat the process several times to get great results.

      Yes Deb, I tell it like it is. Thanks for watching. At this point in time and considering the hell I just went through in the past week with trying to get my mat to load, images to cut out correctly and wireless to connect - The CM350 is the winner. It is cheaper, the mats at cheaper and it just works. Of course you must by a wireless activation card in order to use the wireless capabilities. It is louder and you have to adjust the blade yourself. Still, it will work out of the box and you will love it. Here is my link if you don't mind using it. Thanks, ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF

    Great video i have the 350 but when i print something like a font wording a lotta times it doesnt scan good i trace each letter with a no 2 pencil or sometimes a black marker n i doesnt get all the wording how can i make it darker to get all the letters n use the inside n outter outline to cut but i just cant get a good scan thank u

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 років тому +1

      Have you tried making words out of the built in fonts on the machine or from Brother Canvas Workspace? The PC based version of Canvas Workspace lets you cut out fonts which are installed on your computer. It is amazing. I never scan and cut fonts. I use the built in ones because they cut perfectly. I use the pencil trick all of the time to makes lines darker as well so you are on the right track with that.

    • @PaperedChef
