The "vomit" note he mentions is likely due him being sensitive to butyric acid, which is present in vomit and a contributing factor to the smell. I sometimes get the note from certain scotches, haven't gotten it from bourbon yet though.

Daniel, commenting here for visibility. Just watched your Advent video, "2019 Whiskey Tribe Advent Calendar - Day Eight - Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength" with a dram of the same expression--Laguvulin 16 is the whisk(e)y that made me love whisk(e)ys, and though I've come to try many other styles of American whiskey, scotch, and Japanese whisky since, peat has held a special place since, and both you and Rex have played a major role in that. Back to my original comment--when, in your video, you mentioned Leonard Cohen, I immediately searched for this artist I had previously never heard of; I recognize so many of the artists you mention, and if there existed a musical version of peat, I had to hear it. After Googling the artist, the first hit was "Hallelujah - performed live in London". Listening to this amazing voice, singing this amazing song, combined with the whisky was one of the most incredible experiences I have had--this felt, to me, to be the feeling of joy that comes with new experiences, becoming exceedingly rare as anyone grows beyond childhood. So for this great experience, as well as the wonderful community yourself, Rex, and all the other MB's have created, thank you.
Missed this when it posted earlier. I was able to now watch it during some down time at work. As I'm a paramedic this episode was a great way to get a much needed dose of fun and levity. Thanks guys. Made my night.
You should do an episode called "Whiskey Furious", where you just try to piss someone off as much as possible, purely by making them taste different whiskeys alone. Each person has one subject and makes them taste 10 different beverages from the whiskey category. It's up to strategy whether you pour good whiskeys that the average person might not be able to handle the flavor of, cheap artificially flavored whiskey blends that no one should ever drink, a combination of both, or something else. You're not allowed to be mean to them or tell them what they're drinking, you just serve them the glasses silently. Whoever's contestant independently rates their irritability higher on a 1-10 scale after the experience wins.
Well done, well done. I was just listening. Then started to watch and realized you are not in the same room! The banter is top notch! You Bastards have done it once again! Or are yall just across the room from eachother?
When your whiskey is so hardcore you forget that alcohol's boiling point is 172°F (78°C) and would evaporate before water of which the boiling point is 212 °F (100°C).
