I think Finn mentioned being a gen X dad about half dozen times 😅 Someone’s stoked about being a new dad. Congrats Finn! Hope to join the fatherhood tribe myself soon.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but Zombie was a massive cover from Bad Wolves. It was Octane's song of the year whenever it came out, so it was kind of everywhere. Probably why the kids know it.
Great cover except ruined by the modern overpolished production the and auto-tune. Something that that plagues much of modern rock. Really goes against what rock is about
I think an interesting thing to see on this video is how much more well-known and influential pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop artists from that time are than Rock artists. When I was a teenager in 2003, I was mildly familiar with Kiss from a Rose, but I would have known the rock songs right away. But these kids who were born around then know Missy Elliot or Seal, and don't know the Foo Fighters or Faith No More.
I think because of how music is consumed these days, kids aren’t going to be as knowledgable of older music before their time. When I was growing up in my younger childhood in the 90s, I had listened to a lot of music from the 70s and whatnot as that’s what was around when listening to the radio. That isn’t how music is consumed anymore. It’s now hyper focused into people only listening to specific things and not branching out, not by choice, to other music to be exposed to. Moving forward I think it will continue get worse with how narrow scopes of music consumed will be. That happens with movies I have noticed in regards to younger people today. We used to be subjected to whatever was on radio or tv. No more.
There will always be enthusiasts who want to learn about older music. The younger generation is exposed to way more old music via soundtracks and pop culture.

The first home phone I remember having in our house was a rotary phone that my parents leased from Southwestern Bell and never returned. It was heavy enough to be considered a deadly weapon if wielded correctly.
"no, jackson the nostalgia can't come back because you weren't alive when these songs came out" 💀
Finn you saying why is it on a Batman soundtrack is something I’ve been asking myself for years it haunts me. However the obscurity of that makes the song way better
Best thing about "Everlong" is that the music is universal
As a geriatric millenial, I love Everlong. Dad rock it may be now, but it's timeless. I'm so old.
I never liked Pretty Fly even when it was new. It put me off Offspring ever since. Smash is great, fantastic really, but it was downhill for them after that aside from a few alright songs.
The final fantasy hair comment was good, I enjoyed that.
Did you know, that Tony Hawk landed a 900 in a contest in 1999? It was the x-games and I watched that in its entirety! I was 5 years old
The 90s were so big that it required a fisheye lens to take it all in!!!
Jackson is actually 40 years old and is playing a teen.
Damn Finn's content is top tier. I think FInn is becoming my favorite UA-camr lol.
I think Finn mentioned being a gen X dad about half dozen times 😅
Someone’s stoked about being a new dad. Congrats Finn! Hope to join the fatherhood tribe myself soon.
Finn devilishly smiling at kids roasting 90s music is the best
I didn't know that Roxette song, and it came out 2 days after I was born. I'm so ashamed.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but Zombie was a massive cover from Bad Wolves. It was Octane's song of the year whenever it came out, so it was kind of everywhere. Probably why the kids know it.
Was a great cover too!
Great cover except ruined by the modern overpolished production the and auto-tune. Something that that plagues much of modern rock. Really goes against what rock is about
"don't ever do that Jackson. that's bad." Lucas is a great one...
We were born the same year man great vid!
"it's called Punk. Respect your Elders..." Oh Snap ! Foo Fighters : they still are dope. Taylor Hawkins, R.I.P. "A Thousand Miles" by Alanis Morisette. (Vanessa Carlton)
"That would be like me liking a Fleetwood Mac song from 1971". As someone who's favorite music year is 1971, I feel personally attacked.
Priest: do you take this woman to be your wife?
The groom: I -
Lucas: nah, not feeling it
Gen Z knows nothing about ANYTHING unless its on TikTok.
The one artifact “90s teens” today don’t have that we actual 90s kids had back then was our collections of ‘Pogs and Slammers’ such a fun game/hobby that no one ever played, still recall my favorite ones 😂😊
Dude said ‘look at this Final Fantasy hair’ 😂😂😂
Finn: "do kids even know how to use a rotary phone?"
Brother I'm 30 and I don't know how to use that shit
I love Jacksons enthusiasm
Knowing you are from Snohomish, the skating behind 7-11 comment was real. Avenue D, man.
Tears for Fears was one of the best groups of the '90s
80's
Lucas is that one annoying nephew you want to slap but cant
90s? Motorhead, Motley Crue, and Monster Magnet. Everything else was flaccid.
It's a good thing the Gen Z kids weren't shown the "Black Hole Sun" music video from Soundgarden. They probably wouldn't sleep for weeks.
Are people really that surprised when teens born in the 2000’s no nothing about the music from a decade earlier?
im sad there was no smashing pumpkins
16:14 “I have faith” *while listening to Faith No More 😏
I rebeled againts my parents love of country but i think eventually you come back around. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug
I love both generations of music
*"I asked you to go to the Green Day concert*
*You said you never heard of them*
*How cool is that?"*
-Weezer
I don’t know why, but that Roxette song was on my dad’s early 90s Christmas compilation CD. He’d play it from to back every Christmas
I’m from gen Z and my favorite bands are Metallica, Green Day, and Def Leppard. I also don’t mind heavy bands like Slipknot, Ice Nine Kills, and even Cannibal Corpse. While I listen to that, all my friends listen to Reggaeton, rap, and pop.
... even cannibal corpse? Turn back now son, while you still can.
@@prehistoricturtlesaurus5309 I said I don’t mind them. I REALLY don’t like them, but it’s not like I’ll die if I listen to them. I do like Slipknot and Ice Nine Kills but I have my taste in music and you have yours. People hear things the way they want to.
@@rtgredtruck3059 I think you read way too much into what I was saying.
@@prehistoricturtlesaurus5309 that might be true. Sorry I went a bit overboard
@RTG Redtruck305 All good man✌️
I like how the beggining was selling the green day reaction and whoever edited this just completely skipped it. Like wtf!
Tv talent shows that’s why they know all these songs
when cranberries first came on i was thinking it was rem 'losing my religion'
you saying an 18 year old was born in 2005 just made my soul heart
Jaxon likes rock from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Great taste, I have hope for this generation.
That’s why Finn hates him.
@@JaredtheRabbit yeah seems to be triggered or something by him and taking it weirdly personal. Let him have enthusiasm for what he likes, instead of crapping on him for it.
You gotta check out Hurts More Thinkin Bout It by Vince Nerone, takes you back to early 2000’s warped tour 🔥
Gen Z does not have to care, because Gen Z from 2010s are now Gen X. Gen X is 20 and up
WTF are you even talking about.
Where did you get that from? Gen X were born from '65 to '80. Then the millennials to '96, then the zoomers.
Also @Finn Mckinstry ❤❤ your videos. Your like my blueprint. Truly appreciate what you do. Also ❤ the irony of how meta we are when we watch reaction videos of reaction videos😂😂😂. But give the people what they want
Alright Jaxon lost me when he busted out Goo Goo Dolls wearing that fucking sweater and collard shirt talking about nostalgia... I'm gonna use Finn's line. I'm 27 and I'm to young to have nostalgia for the 90s
"What is this, Garbage?"
Oh jeez, just imagining the amount of people who don't know Garbage was a band. 😂
Was?they're still making music
FOO FIGHTERS FUCKING ROCKS 🎸🤘
"Faith No More is the favorite band of everybody with a zany hat."
